It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to Yahweh your God’s voice, to observe to do all his commandments which I command you today, that Yahweh your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.

All these blessings will come upon you, and overtake you, if you listen to Yahweh your God’s voice.

and all these blessings H1293 shall come H935 (QalPerf) on thee, and overtake H5381 (HiphPerf) thee, if thou shalt hearken H8085 (QalImpf) unto the voice H6963 of the Lord H3068 thy God. H430

και ηξουσιν επι σε πασαι αι ευλογιαι αυται και ευρησουσιν σε εαν ακοη ακουσης της φωνης κυριου του θεου σου

Yahweh will make you the head, and not the tail. You will be above only, and you will not be beneath, if you listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God which I command you today, to observe and to do,

καταστησαι σε κυριος ο θεος σου εις κεφαλην και μη εις ουραν και εση τοτε επανω και ουκ εση υποκατω εαν ακουσης των εντολων κυριου του θεου σου οσα εγω εντελλομαι σοι σημερον φυλασσειν και ποιειν

But it shall come to pass, if you will not listen to Yahweh your God’s voice, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come on you and overtake you.

But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken H8085 (QalImpf) unto the voice H6963 of the Lord H3068 thy God, H430 to observe H8104 (QalInf) to do H6213 (QalInf) all his commandments H4687 and his statutes H2708 which I command H6680 (PielPtc) thee this day; H3117 that all these curses H7045 shall come H935 (QalPerf) upon thee, and overtake H5381 (HiphPerf) thee:

και εσται εαν μη εισακουσης της φωνης κυριου του θεου σου φυλασσειν και ποιειν πασας τας εντολας αυτου οσας εγω εντελλομαι σοι σημερον και ελευσονται επι σε πασαι αι καταραι αυται και καταλημψονται σε

All these curses will come on you, and will pursue you and overtake you, until you are destroyed, because you didn’t listen to Yahweh your God’s voice, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded you.

Moreover all these curses H7045 shall come H935 (QalPerf) upon thee, and shall pursue H7291 (QalPerf) thee, and overtake H5381 (HiphPerf) thee, till thou be destroyed; H8045 (NiphInf) because thou hearkenedst H8085 (QalPerf) not unto the voice H6963 of the Lord H3068 thy God, H430 to keep H8104 (QalInf) his commandments H4687 and his statutes H2708 which he commanded H6680 (PielPerf) thee:

Yahweh will bring a nation against you from far away, from the end of the earth, as the eagle flies: a nation whose language you will not understand,

Deuteronomy 28:49 Heb. hear

επαξει κυριος επι σε εθνος μακροθεν απ εσχατου της γης ωσει ορμημα αετου εθνος ο ουκ ακουση της φωνης αυτου

You will be left few in number, even though you were as the stars of the sky for multitude, because you didn’t listen to Yahweh your God’s voice.

It is not in heaven, that you should say, “Who will go up for us to heaven, bring it to us, and proclaim it to us, that we may do it?”

But if your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but are drawn away and worship other gods, and serve them,

εκκλησιασας τον λαον τους ανδρας και τας γυναικας και τα εκγονα και τον προσηλυτον τον εν ταις πολεσιν υμων ινα ακουσωσιν και ινα μαθωσιν φοβεισθαι κυριον τον θεον υμων και ακουσονται ποιειν παντας τους λογους του νομου τουτου

and that their children, who have not known, may hear and learn to fear Yahweh your God, as long as you live in the land where you go over the Jordan to possess it.”

Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him. The children of Israel listened to him, and did as Yahweh commanded Moses.

Just as we listened to Moses in all things, so will we listen to you. Only may Yahweh your God be with you, as he was with Moses.

Whoever rebels against your commandment, and doesn’t listen to your words in all that you command him shall himself be put to death. Only be strong and courageous.”

ακηκοαμεν γαρ οτι κατεξηρανεν κυριος ο θεος την ερυθραν θαλασσαν απο προσωπου υμων οτε εξεπορευεσθε εκ γης αιγυπτου και οσα εποιησεν τοις δυσι βασιλευσιν των αμορραιων οι ησαν περαν του ιορδανου τω σηων και ωγ ους εξωλεθρευσατε αυτους

As soon as we had heard it, our hearts melted, and there wasn’t any more spirit in any man, because of you: for Yahweh your God, he is God in heaven above, and on earth beneath.

Joshua 2:11 rose up

και ακουσαντες ημεις εξεστημεν τη καρδια ημων και ουκ εστη ετι πνευμα εν ουδενι ημων απο προσωπου υμων οτι κυριος ο θεος υμων θεος εν ουρανω ανω και επι της γης κατω

Joshua said to the children of Israel, “Come here, and hear the words of Yahweh your God.”

και εγενετο ως ηκουσαν οι βασιλεις των αμορραιων οι ησαν περαν του ιορδανου και οι βασιλεις της φοινικης οι παρα την θαλασσαν οτι απεξηρανεν κυριος ο θεος τον ιορδανην ποταμον εκ των εμπροσθεν των υιων ισραηλ εν τω διαβαινειν αυτους και ετακησαν αυτων αι διανοιαι και κατεπλαγησαν και ουκ ην εν αυτοις φρονησις ουδεμια απο προσωπου των υιων ισραηλ

For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness until all the nation, even the men of war who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they didn’t listen to Yahweh’s voice. Yahweh swore to them that he wouldn’t let them see the land which Yahweh swore to their fathers that he would give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.

τεσσαρακοντα γαρ και δυο ετη ανεστραπται ισραηλ εν τη ερημω τη μαδβαριτιδι διο απεριτμητοι ησαν οι πλειστοι αυτων των μαχιμων των εξεληλυθοτων εκ γης αιγυπτου οι απειθησαντες των εντολων του θεου οις και διωρισεν μη ιδειν αυτους την γην ην ωμοσεν κυριος τοις πατρασιν αυτων δουναι ημιν γην ρεουσαν γαλα και μελι

It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the city wall will fall down flat, and the people shall go up, every man straight in front of him.”

Joshua 6:5 Heb. under it

και εσται ως αν σαλπισητε τη σαλπιγγι ανακραγετω πας ο λαος αμα και ανακραγοντων αυτων πεσειται αυτοματα τα τειχη της πολεως και εισελευσεται πας ο λαος ορμησας εκαστος κατα προσωπον εις την πολιν

Joshua commanded the people, saying, “You shall not shout nor let your voice be heard, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth until the day I tell you to shout. Then you shall shout.”

τω δε λαω ενετειλατο ιησους λεγων μη βοατε μηδε ακουσατω μηθεις υμων την φωνην εως αν ημεραν αυτος διαγγειλη αναβοησαι και τοτε αναβοησετε

For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it, and will surround us, and cut off our name from the earth. What will you do for your great name?”

και ακουσας ο χαναναιος και παντες οι κατοικουντες την γην περικυκλωσουσιν ημας και εκτριψουσιν ημας απο της γης και τι ποιησεις το ονομα σου το μεγα

When all the kings who were beyond the Jordan, in the hill country, and in the lowland, and on all the shore of the great sea in front of Lebanon, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, heard of it

When the children of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the children of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh, to go up against them to war.

και συνηθροισθησαν παντες οι υιοι ισραηλ εις σηλω ωστε αναβαντες εκπολεμησαι αυτους

When Phinehas the priest, and the princes of the congregation, even the heads of the thousands of Israel that were with him, heard the words that the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the children of Manasseh spoke, it pleased them well.

Joshua said to all the people, “Behold, this stone shall be a witness against us, for it has heard all Yahweh’s words which he spoke to us. It shall be therefore a witness against you, lest you deny your God.”

You shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land. You shall break down their altars.’ But you have not listened to my voice. Why have you done this?

και υμεις ου διαθησεσθε διαθηκην τοις εγκαθημενοις εις την γην ταυτην ουδε τοις θεοις αυτων ου μη προσκυνησητε αλλα τα γλυπτα αυτων συντριψετε και τα θυσιαστηρια αυτων κατασκαψετε και ουκ εισηκουσατε της φωνης μου οτε ταυτα εποιησατε

Yet they didn’t listen to their judges; for they prostituted themselves to other gods, and bowed themselves down to them. They quickly turned away from the way in which their fathers walked, obeying Yahweh’s commandments. They didn’t do so.

και γε των κριτων αυτων ουκ επηκουσαν οτι εξεπορνευσαν οπισω θεων ετερων και προσεκυνησαν αυτοις και παρωργισαν τον κυριον και εξεκλιναν ταχυ εκ της οδου ης επορευθησαν οι πατερες αυτων του εισακουειν εντολας κυριου ουκ εποιησαν ουτως
