Yahweh says: “For three transgressions of Judah, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment, because they have rejected Yahweh’s law, and have not kept his statutes, and their lies have led them astray, after which their fathers walked;

Thus said Jehovah: For three transgressions of Judah, And for four, I do not reserve it, Because of their loathing the law of Jehovah, And His statutes they have not kept, And their lies do cause them to err, After which their fathers did walk,

They trample the heads of the poor into the dust of the earth and deny justice to the oppressed. A man and his father use the same maiden, to profane my holy name.

Who are panting for the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, And the way of the humble they turn aside, And a man and his father go unto the damsel, So as to pollute My holy name.

Also I brought you up out of the land of Egypt and led you forty years in the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

And I-I have brought you up from the land of Egypt, And cause you to go in a wilderness forty years, To possess the land of the Amorite.

Do two walk together, unless they have agreed?

Can two H8147 walk H3212 (QalImpf) together, H3162 except H1115 they be agreed? H3259 (NiphPerf)

Do two walk together if they have not met?

Go to Calneh, and see. From there go to Hamath the great. Then go down to Gath of the Philistines. Are they better than these kingdoms? Is their border greater than your border?

Amaziah also said to Amos, “You seer, go, flee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there,

“Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach against it, for their wickedness has come up before me.”

For this I will lament and wail. I will go stripped and naked. I will howl like the jackals and mourn like the ostriches.

For this I lament and howl, I go spoiled and naked, I make a lamentation like dragons, And a mourning like daughters of an ostrich.

Therefore Yahweh says: “Behold, I am planning against these people a disaster, from which you will not remove your necks, neither will you walk haughtily, for it is an evil time.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Behold, against this family H4940 do I devise H2803 (QalActPtc) an evil, H7451 from which ye shall not remove H4185 (HiphImpf) your necks; H6677 neither shall ye go H3212 (QalImpf) haughtily: H7317 for this time H6256 [is] evil. H7451

Therefore, thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am devising against this family evil, From which ye do not remove your necks, Nor walk loftily, for a time of evil it is.

Shall it be said, O house of Jacob, “Is Yahweh’s Spirit angry? Are these his doings? Don’t my words do good to him who walks blamelessly?”

O [thou that art] named H559 (QalPasPtc) the house H1004 of Jacob, H3290 is the spirit H7307 of the Lord H3068 straitened? H7114 (QalPerf) [are] these his doings? H4611 do not my words H1697 do good H3190 (HiphImpf) to him that walketh H1980 (QalActPtc) uprightly? H3477

Doth the house of Jacob say, ‘Hath the Spirit of Jehovah been shortened? Are these His doings?’ Do not My words benefit the people that is walking uprightly?

Arise, and depart! For this is not your resting place, because of uncleanness that destroys, even with a grievous destruction.

Rise and go, for this is not the rest, Because of uncleanness it doth corrupt, And corruption is powerful.

If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood lies, saying, “I will prophesy to you of wine and of strong drink,” he would be the prophet of this people.

If one is going with the wind, And with falsehood hath lied: ‘I prophesy to thee of wine, and of strong drink,’ He hath been the prophet of this people!

Many nations will go and say, “Come! Let’s go up to the mountain of Yahweh, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths.” For the law will go out of Zion, and Yahweh’s word from Jerusalem;

And gone have many nations and said, Come and we go up to the mount of Jehovah, And unto the house of the God of Jacob, And He doth teach us of His ways, And we do walk in His paths, For from Zion doth go forth a law, And a word of Jehovah from Jerusalem.

Indeed all the nations may walk in the name of their gods, but we will walk in the name of Yahweh our God forever and ever.

For all people H5971 will walk H3212 (QalImpf) every one H376 in the name H8034 of his god, H430 and we will walk H3212 (QalImpf) in the name H8034 of the Lord H3068 our God H430 for ever H5769 and ever. H5703

For all the peoples do walk, Each in the name of its god-and we, We do walk in the name of Jehovah our God, To the age and for ever.

He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

Where is the den of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion and the lioness walked with the lion’s cubs, and no one made them afraid?

Even she doth become an exile, She hath gone into captivity, Even her sucklings are dashed to pieces At the top of all out-places, And for her honoured ones they cast a lot, And all her great ones have been bound in fetters.

For, behold,^§ I am raising up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation who march through the width of the earth, to possess dwelling places that are not theirs.

Habakkuk 1:6 “Behold”, from “הִנֵּה”, means look at, take notice, observe, see, or gaze at. It is often used as an interjection.

For, lo, I am raising up the Chaldeans, The bitter and hasty nation, That is going to the broad places of earth, To occupy tabernacles not its own.

Plague went before him, and pestilence followed his feet.

Before Him goeth pestilence, And a burning flame goeth forth at His feet.

The sun and moon stood still in the sky at the light of your arrows as they went, at the shining of your glittering spear.

Sun-moon-hath stood-a habitation, At the light thine arrows go on, At the brightness, the glittering of thy spear.

I will bring such distress on men that they will walk like blind men because they have sinned against Yahweh. Their blood will be poured out like dust and their flesh like dung.

And I have sent distress to men, And they have walked as the blind, For against Jehovah they have sinned, And poured out is their blood as dust, And their flesh is as dung.

The man who stood among the myrtle trees answered, “They are the ones Yahweh has sent to go back and forth through the earth.”

And the man H376 that stood H5975 (QalActPtc) among the myrtle trees H1918 answered H6030 (QalImpf) and said, H559 (QalImpf) These [are they] whom the Lord H3068 hath sent H7971 (QalPerf) to walk H1980 (HithInf) to and fro through the earth. H776

And the one who is standing between the myrtles doth answer and say, ‘These are they whom Jehovah hath sent to walk up and down in the land.’

They reported to Yahweh’s angel who stood among the myrtle trees, and said, “We have walked back and forth through the earth, and behold, all the earth is at rest and in peace.”

And they answer the messenger of Jehovah who is standing between the myrtles, and say, ‘We have walked up and down in the land, and lo, all the land is sitting still, and at rest.’

Then I asked, “Where are you going?” He said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length.”

And I say, ‘Whither are thou going?’ And he saith unto me, ‘To measure Jerusalem, to see how much is its breadth, and how much its length.’

“Yahweh of Armies says: ‘If you will walk in my ways, and if you will follow my instructions, then you also shall judge my house, and shall also keep my courts, and I will give you a place of access among these who stand by.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts; H6635 If thou wilt walk H3212 (QalImpf) in my ways, H1870 and if thou wilt keep H8104 (QalImpf) my charge, H4931 then thou shalt also judge H1777 (QalImpf) my house, H1004 and shalt also keep H8104 (QalImpf) my courts, H2691 and I will give H5414 (QalPerf) thee places to walk H4108 (HiphPtc) among these that stand by. ‘Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: If in My ways thou dost walk, And if My charge thou dost keep, Then also thou dost judge My house, And also thou dost keep My courts, And I have given to thee conductors among these standing by.

Then I said to the angel who talked with me, “Where are these carrying the ephah basket?”

And I say unto the messenger who is speaking with me, ‘Whither are they causing the ephah to go?’

The inhabitants of one will go to another, saying, ‘Let’s go speedily to entreat the favor of Yahweh, and to seek Yahweh of Armies. I will go also.’

Yea, gone have inhabitants of one To another, saying: We go diligently, To appease the face of Jehovah, To seek Jehovah of Hosts-I go, even I.

Yahweh of Armies says: “In those days, ten men out of all the languages of the nations will take hold of the skirt of him who is a Jew, saying, ‘We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’ ”

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts; H6635 In those days H3117 [it shall come to pass], that ten H6235 men H582 shall take hold H2388 (HiphImpf) out of all languages H3956 of the nations, H1471 even shall take hold H2388 (HiphPerf) of the skirt H3671 of him that is a Jew, H376 H3064 saying, H559 (QalInf) We will go H3212 (QalImpf) with you: for we have heard H8085 (QalPerf) [that] God H430 [is] with you.

Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: In those days take hold do ten men of all languages of the nations, Yea, they have taken hold on the skirt of a man, a Jew, saying: We go with you, for we heard God is with you!

Yahweh will be seen over them. His arrow will flash like lightning. The Lord Yahweh will blow the trumpet, and will go with whirlwinds of the south.

And the Lord H3068 shall be seen H7200 (NiphImpf) over them, and his arrow H2671 shall go forth H3318 (QalPerf) as the lightning: H1300 and the Lord H136 God H3069 shall blow H8628 (QalImpf) the trumpet, H7782 and shall go H1980 (QalPerf) with whirlwinds H5591 of the south. H8486

And Jehovah doth appear for them, And gone forth as lightning hath His arrow, And the Lord Jehovah with a trumpet bloweth, And He hath gone with whirlwinds of the south.

I will strengthen them in Yahweh. They will walk up and down in his name,” says Yahweh.

The law of truth was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found in his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and turned many away from iniquity.

The law of truth hath been in his mouth, And perverseness hath not been found in his lips, In peace and in uprightness he walked with Me, And many he brought back from iniquity.

You have said, ‘It is vain to serve God,’ and ‘What profit is it that we have followed his instructions and that we have walked mournfully before Yahweh of Armies?

Ye have said, ‘A vain thing to serve God! And what gain when we kept His charge? And when we have gone in black, Because of Jehovah of Hosts?
