On the next day, Moses said to the people, “You have sinned a great sin. Now I will go up to Yahweh. Perhaps I shall make atonement for your sin.”

Yahweh spoke to Moses, “Depart, go up from here, you and the people that you have brought up out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your offspring.’

Yahweh had said to Moses, “Tell the children of Israel, ‘You are a stiff-necked people. If I were to go up among you for one moment, I would consume you. Therefore now take off your jewelry from you, that I may know what to do to you.’”

Moses said to Yahweh, “Behold, you tell me, ‘Bring up this people;’ and you haven’t let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’

He said, “Behold, I make a covenant: before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not been worked in all the earth, nor in any nation; and all the people among whom you are shall see the work of Yahweh; for it is an awesome thing that I do with you.

και ειπεν κυριος προς μωυσην ιδου εγω τιθημι σοι διαθηκην ενωπιον παντος του λαου σου ποιησω ενδοξα α ου γεγονεν εν παση τη γη και εν παντι εθνει και οψεται πας ο λαος εν οις ει συ τα εργα κυριου οτι θαυμαστα εστιν α εγω ποιησω σοι

Be careful, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be for a snare among you;

προσεχε σεαυτω μηποτε θης διαθηκην τοις εγκαθημενοις επι της γης εις ην εισπορευη εις αυτην μη σοι γενηται προσκομμα εν υμιν

“You and your sons are not to drink wine or strong drink whenever you go into the Tent of Meeting, or you will die. This shall be a statute forever throughout your generations.

οινον και σικερα ου πιεσθε συ και οι υιοι σου μετα σου ηνικα αν εισπορευησθε εις την σκηνην του μαρτυριου η προσπορευομενων υμων προς το θυσιαστηριον και ου μη αποθανητε νομιμον αιωνιον εις τας γενεας υμων

The waved breast and the heaved thigh you shall eat in a clean place, you, and your sons, and your daughters with you: for they are given as your portion, and your sons’ portion, out of the sacrifices of the peace offerings of the children of Israel.

και το στηθυνιον του αφορισματος και τον βραχιονα του αφαιρεματος φαγεσθε εν τοπω αγιω συ και οι υιοι σου και ο οικος σου μετα σου νομιμον γαρ σοι και νομιμον τοις υιοις σου εδοθη απο των θυσιων του σωτηριου των υιων ισραηλ

You therefore shall keep my statutes and my ordinances, and shall not do any of these abominations; neither the native-born, nor the stranger who lives as a foreigner among you

But I have said to you, “You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess it, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am Yahweh your God, who has separated you from the peoples.

“‘The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine; for you are strangers and live as foreigners with me.

I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you will be my people.

και εμπεριπατησω εν υμιν και εσομαι υμων θεος και υμεις εσεσθε μου λαος

Then the land will enjoy its Sabbaths as long as it lies desolate and you are in your enemies’ land. Even then the land will rest and enjoy its Sabbaths.

But if you have gone astray, being under your husband’s authority, and if you are defiled, and some man has lain with you besides your husband—”

If you treat me this way, please kill me right now, if I have found favor in your sight; and don’t let me see my wretchedness.”

ει δε ουτως συ ποιεις μοι αποκτεινον με αναιρεσει ει ευρηκα ελεος παρα σοι ινα μη ιδω μου την κακωσιν

I will come down and talk with you there. I will take of the Spirit which is on you, and will put it on them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you don’t bear it yourself alone.

Moses said, “The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand men on foot; and you have said, ‘I will give them meat, that they may eat a whole month.’

And Moses H4872 said, H559 (QalImpf) The people, H5971 among H7130 whom I am, are six H8337 hundred H3967 thousand H505 footmen; H7273 and thou hast said, H559 (QalPerf) I will give H5414 (QalImpf) them flesh, H1320 that they may eat H398 (QalPerf) a whole H3117 month. H2320

και ειπεν μωυσης εξακοσιαι χιλιαδες πεζων ο λαος εν οις ειμι εν αυτοις και συ ειπας κρεα δωσω αυτοις φαγειν και φαγονται μηνα ημερων

Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all Yahweh’s people were prophets, that Yahweh would put his Spirit on them!”

And Moses H4872 said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Enviest H7065 (PielPtc) thou for my sake? would God that all the H5414 (QalImpf) Lord’s H3068 people H5971 were prophets, H5030 and that the Lord H3068 would put H5414 (QalImpf) his spirit H7307 upon them!

και ειπεν αυτω μωυσης μη ζηλοις συ μοι και τις δωη παντα τον λαον κυριου προφητας οταν δω κυριος το πνευμα αυτου επ αυτους

They will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that you Yahweh are among this people; for you Yahweh are seen face to face, and your cloud stands over them, and you go before them, in a pillar of cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night.

Therefore you and all your company have gathered together against Yahweh! What is Aaron that you complain against him?”

Moses said to Korah, “You and all your company go before Yahweh, you, and they, and Aaron, tomorrow.

Each man take his censer and put incense on it, and each man bring before Yahweh his censer, two hundred fifty censers; you also, and Aaron, each with his censer.”

But on the next day all the congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and against Aaron, saying, “You have killed Yahweh’s people!”

Yahweh said to Aaron, “You and your sons and your fathers’ house with you shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary; and you and your sons with you shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.
