If these men die the common death of all men, or if they experience what all men experience, then Yahweh hasn’t sent me.

Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, saying: “Your brother Israel says: You know all the travail that has happened to us;

και απεστειλεν μωυσης αγγελους εκ καδης προς βασιλεα εδωμ λεγων ταδε λεγει ο αδελφος σου ισραηλ συ επιστη παντα τον μοχθον τον ευροντα ημας

When we cried to Yahweh, he heard our voice, sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt. Behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the edge of your border.

και ανεβοησαμεν προς κυριον και εισηκουσεν κυριος της φωνης ημων και αποστειλας αγγελον εξηγαγεν ημας εξ αιγυπτου και νυν εσμεν εν καδης πολει εκ μερους των οριων σου

Yahweh sent venomous snakes among the people, and they bit the people. Many people of Israel died.

And the Lord H3068 sent H7971 (PielImpf) fiery H8314 serpents H5175 among the people, H5971 and they bit H5391 (PielImpf) the people; H5971 and much H7227 people H5971 of Israel H3478 died. H4191 (QalImpf)

και απεστειλεν κυριος εις τον λαον τους οφεις τους θανατουντας και εδακνον τον λαον και απεθανεν λαος πολυς των υιων ισραηλ

Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,

και απεστειλεν μωυσης πρεσβεις προς σηων βασιλεα αμορραιων λογοις ειρηνικοις λεγων

Moses sent to spy out Jazer. They took its villages, and drove out the Amorites who were there.

και απεστειλεν μωυσης κατασκεψασθαι την ιαζηρ και κατελαβοντο αυτην και τας κωμας αυτης και εξεβαλον τον αμορραιον τον κατοικουντα εκει

He sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor, to Pethor, which is by the River, to the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, “Behold, there is a people who came out of Egypt. Behold, they cover the surface of the earth, and they are staying opposite me.

και απεστειλεν πρεσβεις προς βαλααμ υιον βεωρ φαθουρα ο εστιν επι του ποταμου γης υιων λαου αυτου καλεσαι αυτον λεγων ιδου λαος εξεληλυθεν εξ αιγυπτου και ιδου κατεκαλυψεν την οψιν της γης και ουτος εγκαθηται εχομενος μου

Balaam said to God, “Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, has said to me,

Balak said to Balaam, “Didn’t I earnestly send for you to summon you? Why didn’t you come to me? Am I not able indeed to promote you to honor?”

Balak sacrificed cattle and sheep, and sent to Balaam, and to the princes who were with him.

You shall send one thousand out of every tribe, throughout all the tribes of Israel, to the war.”

You came near to me, everyone of you, and said, “Let’s send men before us, that they may search the land for us, and bring back to us word of the way by which we must go up, and the cities to which we shall come.”

I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,

Moreover Yahweh your God will send the hornet among them, until those who are left, and hide themselves, perish from before you.

και τας σφηκιας αποστελει κυριος ο θεος σου εις αυτους εως αν εκτριβωσιν οι καταλελειμμενοι και οι κεκρυμμενοι απο σου

When Yahweh sent you from Kadesh Barnea, saying, “Go up and possess the land which I have given you,” you rebelled against the commandment of Yahweh your God, and you didn’t believe him or listen to his voice.

και οτε εξαπεστειλεν κυριος υμας εκ καδης βαρνη λεγων αναβητε και κληρονομησατε την γην ην διδωμι υμιν και ηπειθησατε τω ρηματι κυριου του θεου υμων και ουκ επιστευσατε αυτω και ουκ εισηκουσατε της φωνης αυτου

If your brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you.

εαν δε πραθη σοι ο αδελφος σου ο εβραιος η η εβραια δουλευσει σοι εξ ετη και τω εβδομω εξαποστελεις αυτον ελευθερον απο σου

When you let him go free from you, you shall not let him go empty.

And when thou sendest H7971 (PielImpf) him out free H2670 from thee, thou shalt not let him go away H7971 (PielImpf) empty: H7387

οταν δε εξαποστελλης αυτον ελευθερον απο σου ουκ εξαποστελεις αυτον κενον

It shall not seem hard to you when you let him go free from you, for he has been double the value of a hired hand as he served you six years. Yahweh your God will bless you in all that you do.

ου σκληρον εσται εναντιον σου εξαποστελλομενων αυτων ελευθερων απο σου οτι εφετιον μισθον του μισθωτου εδουλευσεν σοι εξ ετη και ευλογησει σε κυριος ο θεος σου εν πασιν οις εαν ποιης

then the elders of his city shall send and bring him there, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.

You shall surely let the hen go, but the young you may take for yourself, that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days.

They shall fine him one hundred shekels of silver,° and give them to the father of the young lady, because he has given a bad name to a virgin of Israel. She shall be his wife. He may not put her away all his days.

Deuteronomy 22:19 A shekel is about 10 grams or about 0.35 ounces, so 100 shekels is about a kilogram or 2.2 pounds.

her former husband, who sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife after she is defiled; for that would be an abomination to Yahweh. You shall not cause the land to sin, which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance.

Yahweh will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you put your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the evil of your doings, by which you have forsaken me.

εξαποστειλαι κυριος σοι την ενδειαν και την εκλιμιαν και την αναλωσιν επι παντα ου αν επιβαλης την χειρα σου οσα εαν ποιησης εως αν εξολεθρευση σε και εως αν απολεση σε εν ταχει δια τα πονηρα επιτηδευματα σου διοτι εγκατελιπες με

therefore you will serve your enemies whom Yahweh sends against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in lack of all things. He will put an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you.

Therefore shalt thou serve H5647 (QalPerf) thine enemies H341 (QalActPtc) which the Lord H3068 shall send H7971 (PielImpf) against thee, in hunger, H7458 and in thirst, H6772 and in nakedness, H5903 and in want H2640 of all [things]: and he shall put H5414 (QalPerf) a yoke H5923 of iron H1270 upon thy neck, H6677 until he have destroyed H8045 (HiphInf) thee.

και λατρευσεις τοις εχθροις σου ους επαποστελει κυριος επι σε εν λιμω και εν διψει και εν γυμνοτητι και εν εκλειψει παντων και επιθησει κλοιον σιδηρουν επι τον τραχηλον σου εως αν εξολεθρευση σε

They shall be wasted with hunger, and devoured with burning heat and bitter destruction. I will send the teeth of animals on them, with the venom of vipers that glide in the dust.

H3405 And they went, H3212 (QalImpf) and came H935 (QalImpf) into an harlot’s H2181 (QalActPtc) house, H802 H1004 named H8034 Rahab, H7343 and lodged H7901 (QalImpf) there.

και απεστειλεν ιησους υιος ναυη εκ σαττιν δυο νεανισκους κατασκοπευσαι λεγων αναβητε και ιδετε την γην και την ιεριχω και πορευθεντες εισηλθοσαν οι δυο νεανισκοι εις ιεριχω και εισηλθοσαν εις οικιαν γυναικος πορνης η ονομα ρααβ και κατελυσαν εκει

Jericho’s king sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered into your house; for they have come to spy out all the land.”

και απεστειλεν ο βασιλευς ιεριχω και ειπεν προς ρααβ λεγων εξαγαγε τους ανδρας τους εισπεπορευμενους εις την οικιαν σου την νυκτα κατασκοπευσαι γαρ την γην ηκασιν

She said, “Let it be as you have said.” She sent them away, and they departed. Then she tied the scarlet line in the window.

και ειπεν αυτοις κατα το ρημα υμων ουτως εστω και εξαπεστειλεν αυτους

The city shall be devoted, even it and all that is in it, to Yahweh. Only Rahab the prostitute shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

και εσται η πολις αναθεμα αυτη και παντα οσα εστιν εν αυτη κυριω σαβαωθ πλην ρααβ την πορνην περιποιησασθε αυτην και οσα εστιν εν τω οικω αυτης

But Rahab the prostitute, her father’s household, and all that she had, Joshua saved alive. She lives in the middle of Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

And Joshua H3091 saved H2421 Rahab H7343 the harlot H2181 (QalActPtc) alive, H2421 (HiphPerf) and her father’s H1 household, H1004 and all that she had; and she dwelleth H3427 (QalImpf) in H7130 Israel H3478 [even] unto this day; H3117 because she hid H2244 (HiphPerf) the messengers, H4397 which Joshua H3091 sent H7971 (QalPerf) to spy out H7270 (PielInf) Jericho. και ρααβ την πορνην και παντα τον οικον τον πατρικον αυτης εζωγρησεν ιησους και κατωκησεν εν τω ισραηλ εως της σημερον ημερας διοτι εκρυψεν τους κατασκοπευσαντας ους απεστειλεν ιησους κατασκοπευσαι την ιεριχω

Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, “Go up and spy out the land.” The men went up and spied out Ai.

και απεστειλεν ιησους ανδρας εις γαι η εστιν κατα βαιθηλ λεγων κατασκεψασθε την γαι και ανεβησαν οι ανδρες και κατεσκεψαντο την γαι

So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent. Behold, it was hidden in his tent, with the silver under it.

και απεστειλεν ιησους αγγελους και εδραμον εις την σκηνην εις την παρεμβολην και ταυτα ην εγκεκρυμμενα εις την σκηνην και το αργυριον υποκατω αυτων

So Joshua arose, with all the warriors, to go up to Ai. Joshua chose thirty thousand men, the mighty men of valor, and sent them out by night.

και ανεστη ιησους και πας ο λαος ο πολεμιστης ωστε αναβηναι εις γαι επελεξεν δε ιησους τριακοντα χιλιαδας ανδρων δυνατους εν ισχυι και απεστειλεν αυτους νυκτος

Joshua sent them out; and they went to set up the ambush, and stayed between Bethel and Ai on the west side of Ai; but Joshua stayed among the people that night.

Therefore Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sent to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish, and Debir king of Eglon, saying,

και απεστειλεν αδωνιβεζεκ βασιλευς ιερουσαλημ προς αιλαμ βασιλεα χεβρων και προς φιδων βασιλεα ιεριμουθ και προς ιεφθα βασιλεα λαχις και προς δαβιρ βασιλεα οδολλαμ λεγων

The men of Gibeon sent to Joshua at the camp at Gilgal, saying, “Don’t abandon your servants! Come up to us quickly and save us! Help us; for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the hill country have gathered together against us.”

και απεστειλαν οι κατοικουντες γαβαων προς ιησουν εις την παρεμβολην ισραηλ εις γαλγαλα λεγοντες μη εκλυσης τας χειρας σου απο των παιδων σου αναβηθι προς ημας το ταχος και εξελου ημας και βοηθησον ημιν οτι συνηγμενοι εισιν εφ ημας παντες οι βασιλεις των αμορραιων οι κατοικουντες την ορεινην
