When Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed. When he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.

και εγινετο οταν επηρεν μωυσης τας χειρας κατισχυεν ισραηλ οταν δε καθηκεν τας χειρας κατισχυεν αμαληκ

But Moses’ hands were heavy; so they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side. His hands were steady until sunset.

αι δε χειρες μωυση βαρειαι και λαβοντες λιθον υπεθηκαν υπ αυτον και εκαθητο επ αυτου και ααρων και ωρ εστηριζον τας χειρας αυτου εντευθεν εις και εντευθεν εις και εγενοντο αι χειρες μωυση εστηριγμεναι εως δυσμων ηλιου

and her two sons. The name of one son was Gershom,° for Moses said, “I have lived as a foreigner in a foreign land”.

Exodus 18:3 “Gershom” sounds like the Hebrew for “an alien there”.

οταν γαρ γενηται αυτοις αντιλογια και ελθωσι προς με διακρινω εκαστον και συμβιβαζω αυτους τα προσταγματα του θεου και τον νομον αυτου

Listen now to my voice. I will give you counsel, and God be with you. You represent the people before God, and bring the causes to God.

Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine;

and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by a voice.

“You shall have no other gods before me.

Moses said to the people, “Don’t be afraid, for God has come to test you, and that his fear may be before you, that you won’t sin.”

και λεγει αυτοις μωυσης θαρσειτε ενεκεν γαρ του πειρασαι υμας παρεγενηθη ο θεος προς υμας οπως αν γενηται ο φοβος αυτου εν υμιν ινα μη αμαρτανητε

If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself.

“If men fight and hurt a pregnant woman so that she gives birth prematurely, and yet no harm follows, he shall be surely fined as much as the woman’s husband demands and the judges allow.

εαν δε μαχωνται δυο ανδρες και παταξωσιν γυναικα εν γαστρι εχουσαν και εξελθη το παιδιον αυτης μη εξεικονισμενον επιζημιον ζημιωθησεται καθοτι αν επιβαλη ο ανηρ της γυναικος δωσει μετα αξιωματος

But if any harm follows, then you must take life for life,

And if any mischief follow, H611 then thou shalt give H5414 (QalPerf) life H5315 for life, H5315

εαν δε εξεικονισμενον ην δωσει ψυχην αντι ψυχης

the owner of the pit shall make it good. He shall give money to its owner, and the dead animal shall be his.

ο κυριος του λακκου αποτεισει αργυριον δωσει τω κυριω αυτων το δε τετελευτηκος αυτω εσται

Or if it is known that the bull was in the habit of goring in the past, and its owner has not kept it in, he shall surely pay bull for bull, and the dead animal shall be his own.

εαν δε γνωριζηται ο ταυρος οτι κερατιστης εστιν προ της εχθες και προ της τριτης ημερας και διαμεμαρτυρημενοι ωσιν τω κυριω αυτου και μη αφανιση αυτον αποτεισει ταυρον αντι ταυρου ο δε τετελευτηκως αυτω εσται

the oath of Yahweh shall be between them both, he has not put his hand on his neighbor’s goods; and its owner shall accept it, and he shall not make restitution.

“You shall not wrong an alien or oppress him, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.

and my wrath will grow hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

“If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be to him as a creditor. You shall not charge him interest.

If thou lend H3867 (HiphImpf) money H3701 to any of my people H5971 that is poor H6041 by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, H5383 (QalActPtc) neither shalt thou lay H7760 (QalImpf) upon him usury. H5392

^[22:24] εαν δε αργυριον εκδανεισης τω αδελφω τω πενιχρω παρα σοι ουκ εση αυτον κατεπειγων ουκ επιθησεις αυτω τοκον

for that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin. What would he sleep in? It will happen, when he cries to me, that I will hear, for I am gracious.

You shall do likewise with your cattle and with your sheep. It shall be with its mother seven days, then on the eighth day you shall give it to me.

“You shall be holy men to me, therefore you shall not eat any meat that is torn by animals in the field. You shall cast it to the dogs.

“You shall not spread a false report. Don’t join your hand with the wicked to be a malicious witness.

Exodus 23:1 Or, receive

ου παραδεξη ακοην ματαιαν ου συγκαταθηση μετα του αδικου γενεσθαι μαρτυς αδικος

“You shall not follow a crowd to do evil. You shall not testify in court to side with a multitude to pervert justice.

Exodus 23:2 Heb. answer

ουκ εση μετα πλειονων επι κακια ου προστεθηση μετα πληθους εκκλιναι μετα πλειονων ωστε εκκλιναι κρισιν

“You shall not oppress an alien, for you know the heart of an alien, since you were aliens in the land of Egypt.

No one will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will fulfill the number of your days.

Yahweh said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain, and stay here, and I will give you the stone tablets with the law and the commands that I have written, that you may teach them.”

And the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Moses, H4872 Come up H5927 (QalImpv) to me into the mount, H2022 and be there: and I will give H5414 (QalImpf) thee tables H3871 of stone, H68 and a law, H8451 and commandments H4687 which I have written; H3789 (QalPerf) that thou mayest teach H3384 (HiphInf) them.

Moses entered into the middle of the cloud, and went up on the mountain; and Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

The poles shall be in the rings of the ark. They shall not be taken from it.

εν τοις δακτυλιοις της κιβωτου εσονται οι αναφορεις ακινητοι

The cherubim shall spread out their wings upward, covering the mercy seat with their wings, with their faces toward one another. The faces of the cherubim shall be toward the mercy seat.

εσονται οι χερουβιμ εκτεινοντες τας πτερυγας επανωθεν συσκιαζοντες ταις πτερυξιν αυτων επι του ιλαστηριου και τα προσωπα αυτων εις αλληλα εις το ιλαστηριον εσονται τα προσωπα των χερουβιμ

The rings shall be close to the rim, for places for the poles to carry the table.

Over against H5980 the border H4526 shall the rings H2885 be for places H1004 of the staves H905 to bear H5375 (QalInf) the table. H7979

υπο την στεφανην και εσονται οι δακτυλιοι εις θηκας τοις αναφορευσιν ωστε αιρειν εν αυτοις την τραπεζαν

“You shall make a lamp stand of pure gold. The lamp stand shall be made of hammered work. Its base, its shaft, its cups, its buds, and its flowers shall be of one piece with it.

Their buds and their branches shall be of one piece with it, all of it one beaten work of pure gold.

You shall make fifty clasps of gold, and couple the curtains to one another with the clasps. The tabernacle shall be a unit.

The cubit on the one side and the cubit on the other side, of that which remains in the length of the curtains of the tent, shall hang over the sides of the tabernacle on this side and on that side, to cover it.

There shall be eight boards, and their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board.

“You shall make the altar of acacia wood, five cubits° long, and five cubits wide. The altar shall be square. Its height shall be three cubits.°

Exodus 27:1a A cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimeters.
Exodus 27:1b The altar was to be about 2.3×2.3×1.4 meters or about 7¹⁄₂×7¹⁄₂×4¹⁄₂ feet.

And thou shalt make H6213 (QalPerf) an altar H4196 of shittim H7848 wood, H6086 five H2568 cubits H520 long, H753 and five H2568 cubits H520 broad; H7341 the altar H4196 shall be foursquare: H7251 (QalPasPtc) and the height H6967 thereof shall be three H7969 cubits. H520

και ποιησεις θυσιαστηριον εκ ξυλων ασηπτων πεντε πηχεων το μηκος και πεντε πηχεων το ευρος τετραγωνον εσται το θυσιαστηριον και τριων πηχεων το υψος αυτου

You shall make its horns on its four corners. Its horns shall be of one piece with it. You shall overlay it with bronze.

And thou shalt make H6213 (QalPerf) the horns H7161 of it upon the four H702 corners H6438 thereof: his horns H7161 shall be of the same: and thou shalt overlay H6823 (PielPerf) it with brass. H5178

και ποιησεις τα κερατα επι των τεσσαρων γωνιων εξ αυτου εσται τα κερατα και καλυψεις αυτα χαλκω

You shall put it under the ledge around the altar beneath, that the net may reach halfway up the altar.

And thou shalt put H5414 (QalPerf) it under the compass H3749 of the altar H4196 beneath, H4295 that the net H7568 may be even to H5704 the midst H2677 of the altar. H4196

και υποθησεις αυτους υπο την εσχαραν του θυσιαστηριου κατωθεν εσται δε η εσχαρα εως του ημισους του θυσιαστηριου

Its poles shall be put into the rings, and the poles shall be on the two sides of the altar when carrying it.

And the staves H905 shall be put H935 (HophPerf) into the rings, H2885 and the staves H905 shall be upon the two H8147 sides H6763 of the altar, H4196 to bear H5375 (QalInf) it.
