ως δε εισεπορευοντο οι ιερεις οι αιροντες την κιβωτον της διαθηκης επι τον ιορδανην και οι ποδες των ιερεων των αιροντων την κιβωτον της διαθηκης κυριου εβαφησαν εις μερος του υδατος του ιορδανου ο δε ιορδανης επληρου καθ ολην την κρηπιδα αυτου ωσει ημεραι θερισμου πυρων

The prince of Yahweh’s army said to Joshua, “Take off your sandals, for the place on which you stand is holy.” Joshua did so.

και λεγει ο αρχιστρατηγος κυριου προς ιησουν λυσαι το υποδημα εκ των ποδων σου ο γαρ τοπος εφ ω συ εστηκας αγιος εστιν

They raised over him a great heap of stones that remains to this day. Yahweh turned from the fierceness of his anger. Therefore the name of that place was called “The valley of Achor” to this day.

και ουκ εμαχεσαντο αυτοις οι υιοι ισραηλ οτι ωμοσαν αυτοις παντες οι αρχοντες κυριον τον θεον ισραηλ και διεγογγυσαν πασα η συναγωγη επι τοις αρχουσιν

Then the children of Judah came near to Joshua in Gilgal. Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know the thing that Yahweh spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning you in Kadesh Barnea.

δια τουτο εγενηθη η χεβρων τω χαλεβ τω του ιεφοννη του κενεζαιου εν κληρω εως της ημερας ταυτης δια το αυτον επακολουθησαι τω προσταγματι κυριου θεου ισραηλ

The border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom to the side of the Jebusite (also called Jerusalem) southward; and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lies before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the farthest part of the valley of Rephaim northward.

The border of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethath, which is before Shechem. The border went along to the right hand, to the inhabitants of En Tappuah.

And the coast H1366 of Manasseh H4519 was from Asher H836 to Michmethah, H4366 that [lieth] before H6440 Shechem; H7927 and the border H1366 went along H1980 (QalPerf) on the right hand H3225 unto the inhabitants H3427 (QalActPtc) of Entappuah. H5887

και εγενηθη ορια υιων μανασση δηλαναθ η εστιν κατα προσωπον υιων αναθ και πορευεται επι τα ορια επι ιαμιν και ιασσιβ επι πηγην θαφθωθ

The border passed along from there to Luz, to the side of Luz (also called Bethel), southward. The border went down to Ataroth Addar, by the mountain that lies on the south of Beth Horon the lower.

And the border H1366 went over H5674 (QalPerf) from thence toward Luz, H3870 to the side H3802 of Luz, H3870 which [is] Bethel, H1008 southward; H5045 and the border H1366 descended H3381 (QalPerf) to Atarothadar, H5853 near the hill H2022 that [lieth] on the south side H5045 of the nether H8481 Bethhoron. και διελευσεται εκειθεν τα ορια λουζα επι νωτου λουζα απο λιβος αυτη εστιν βαιθηλ και καταβησεται τα ορια μααταρωθορεχ επι την ορεινην η εστιν προς λιβα βαιθωρων η κατω

The border extended, and turned around on the west quarter southward, from the mountain that lies before Beth Horon southward; and ended at Kiriath Baal (also called Kiriath Jearim), a city of the children of Judah. This was the west quarter.

And the border H1366 was drawn H8388 (QalPerf) [thence], and compassed H5437 (NiphPerf) the corner H6285 of the sea H3220 southward, H5045 from the hill H2022 that [lieth] before H6440 Bethhoron H1032 southward; H5045 and the goings out H8444 thereof were at Kirjathbaal, H7154 which [is] Kirjathjearim, H7157 a city H5892 of the children H1121 of Judah: H3063 this [was] the west H3220 quarter. και διελευσεται τα ορια και περιελευσεται επι το μερος το βλεπον παρα θαλασσαν απο λιβος απο του ορους επι προσωπον βαιθωρων λιβα και εσται αυτου η διεξοδος εις καριαθβααλ αυτη εστιν καριαθιαριν πολις υιων ιουδα τουτο εστιν το μερος το προς θαλασσαν

Their border went up westward, even to Maralah, and reached to Dabbesheth. It reached to the brook that is before Jokneam.

And their border H1366 went up H5927 (QalPerf) toward the sea, H3220 and Maralah, H4831 and reached H6293 (QalPerf) to Dabbasheth, H1708 and reached H6293 (QalPerf) to the river H5158 that [is] before H6440 Jokneam; H3362

γωλα ορια αυτων η θαλασσα και μαραγελλα και συναψει επι βαιθαραβα εις την φαραγγα η εστιν κατα προσωπον ιεκμαν

It turned from Sarid eastward toward the sunrise to the border of Chisloth Tabor. It went out to Daberath, and went up to Japhia.

And turned H7725 (QalPerf) from Sarid H8301 eastward H6924 toward the sunrising H4217 H8121 unto the border H1366 of Chislothtabor, H3696 and then goeth out H3318 (QalPerf) to Daberath, H1705 and goeth up H5927 (QalPerf) to Japhia, H3309

και ανεστρεψεν απο σεδδουκ εξ εναντιας απ ανατολων βαιθσαμυς επι τα ορια χασελωθαιθ και διελευσεται επι δαβιρωθ και προσαναβησεται επι φαγγαι

According to Yahweh’s commandment, they gave him the city which he asked, even Timnathserah in the hill country of Ephraim; and he built the city, and lived there.

According to the word H6310 of the Lord H3068 they gave H5414 (QalPerf) him the city H5892 which he asked, H7592 (QalPerf) [even] Timnathserah H8556 in mount H2022 Ephraim: H669 and he built H1129 (QalImpf) the city, H5892 and dwelt H3427 (QalImpf) therein.

δια προσταγματος του θεου και εδωκαν αυτω την πολιν ην ητησατο θαμνασαραχ η εστιν εν τω ορει εφραιμ και ωκοδομησεν την πολιν και κατωκει εν αυτη

The children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh returned, and departed from the children of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go to the land of Gilead, to the land of their possession, which they owned, according to the commandment of Yahweh by Moses.

And the children H1121 of Reuben H7205 and the children H1121 of Gad H1410 and the half H2677 tribe H7626 of Manasseh H4519 returned, H7725 (QalImpf) and departed H3212 (QalImpf) from the children H1121 of Israel H3478 out of Shiloh, H7887 which [is] in the land H776 of Canaan, H3667 to go H3212 (QalInf) unto the country H776 of Gilead, H1568 to the land H776 of their possession, H272 whereof they were possessed, H270 (NiphPerf) according to the word H6310 of the Lord H3068 by the hand H3027 of Moses. και επορευθησαν οι υιοι ρουβην και οι υιοι γαδ και το ημισυ φυλης υιων μανασση απο των υιων ισραηλ εκ σηλω εν γη χανααν απελθειν εις γην γαλααδ εις γην κατασχεσεως αυτων ην εκληρονομησαν αυτην δια προσταγματος κυριου εν χειρι μωυση

When the children of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the children of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh, to go up against them to war.

And when the children H1121 of Israel H3478 heard H8085 (QalImpf) [of it], the whole congregation H5712 of the children H1121 of Israel H3478 gathered themselves together H6950 (NiphImpf) at Shiloh, H7887 to go up H5927 (QalInf) to war H6635 against them.

και συνηθροισθησαν παντες οι υιοι ισραηλ εις σηλω ωστε αναβαντες εκπολεμησαι αυτους

The thing pleased the children of Israel; and the children of Israel blessed God, and spoke no more of going up against them to war, to destroy the land in which the children of Reuben and the children of Gad lived.

και ηρεσεν τοις υιοις ισραηλ και ελαλησαν προς τους υιους ισραηλ και ευλογησαν τον θεον υιων ισραηλ και ειπαν μηκετι αναβηναι προς αυτους εις πολεμον εξολεθρευσαι την γην των υιων ρουβην και των υιων γαδ και του ημισους φυλης μανασση και κατωκησαν επ αυτης

know for a certainty that Yahweh your God will no longer drive these nations from out of your sight; but they shall be a snare and a trap to you, a scourge in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good land which Yahweh your God has given you.

Know H3045 (QalImpf) for a certainty H3045 (QalInf) that the Lord H3068 your God H430 will no more H3254 (HiphImpf) drive out H3423 (HiphInf) [any of] these nations H1471 from before H6440 you; but they shall be snares H6341 and traps H4170 unto you, and scourges H7850 in your sides, H6654 and thorns H6796 in your eyes, H5869 until ye perish H6 (QalInf) from off this good H2896 land H127 which the Lord H3068 your God H430 hath given H5414 (QalPerf) you.

γινωσκετε οτι ου μη προσθη κυριος του εξολεθρευσαι τα εθνη ταυτα απο προσωπου υμων και εσονται υμιν εις παγιδας και εις σκανδαλα και εις ηλους εν ταις πτερναις υμων και εις βολιδας εν τοις οφθαλμοις υμων εως αν απολησθε απο της γης της αγαθης ταυτης ην εδωκεν υμιν κυριος ο θεος υμων

“Behold, today I am going the way of all the earth. You know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which Yahweh your God spoke concerning you. All have happened to you. Not one thing has failed of it.

And, behold, this day H3117 I [am] going H1980 (QalActPtc) the way H1870 of all the earth: H776 and ye know H3045 (QalPerf) in all your hearts H3824 and in all your souls, H5315 that not one H259 thing H1697 hath failed H5307 (QalPerf) of all the good H2896 things H1697 which the Lord H3068 your God H430 spake H1696 (PielPerf) concerning you; all are come to pass H935 (QalPerf) unto you, [and] not one H259 thing H1697 hath failed H5307 (QalPerf) thereof.

εγω δε αποτρεχω την οδον καθα και παντες οι επι της γης και γνωσεσθε τη καρδια υμων και τη ψυχη υμων διοτι ου διεπεσεν εις λογος απο παντων των λογων ων ειπεν κυριος ο θεος υμων προς παντα τα ανηκοντα υμιν ου διεφωνησεν εξ αυτων

It shall happen that as all the good things have come on you of which Yahweh your God spoke to you, so Yahweh will bring on you all the evil things, until he has destroyed you from off this good land which Yahweh your God has given you,

Therefore it shall come to pass, [that] as all good H2896 things H1697 are come H935 (QalPerf) upon you, which the Lord H3068 your God H430 promised H1696 (PielPerf) you; so shall the Lord H3068 bring H935 (HiphImpf) upon you all evil H7451 things, H1697 until he have destroyed H8045 (HiphInf) you from off this good H2896 land H127 which the Lord H3068 your God H430 hath given H5414 (QalPerf) you.

και εσται ον τροπον ηκει εφ υμας παντα τα ρηματα τα καλα α ελαλησεν κυριος προς υμας ουτως επαξει κυριος ο θεος εφ υμας παντα τα ρηματα τα πονηρα εως αν εξολεθρευση υμας απο της γης της αγαθης ταυτης ης εδωκεν κυριος υμιν

when you disobey the covenant of Yahweh your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods, and bow down yourselves to them. Then Yahweh’s anger will be kindled against you, and you will perish quickly from off the good land which he has given to you.”

εν τω παραβηναι υμας την διαθηκην κυριου του θεου υμων ην ενετειλατο υμιν και πορευθεντες λατρευσητε θεοις ετεροις και προσκυνησητε αυτοις

Yahweh’s Spirit came on him, and he judged Israel; and he went out to war, and Yahweh delivered Cushan Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand. His hand prevailed against Cushan Rishathaim.

και εγενετο επ αυτον πνευμα κυριου και εκρινεν τον ισραηλ και εξηλθεν επι τον πολεμον και παρεδωκεν κυριος εν χειρι αυτου τον χουσαρσαθωμ βασιλεα συριας και εκραταιωθη η χειρ αυτου επι τον χουσαρσαθωμ

The children of Israel again did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and Yahweh strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight.

και προσεθεντο οι υιοι ισραηλ ποιησαι το πονηρον εναντι κυριου και ενισχυσεν κυριος τον εγλωμ βασιλεα μωαβ επι τον ισραηλ δια το πεποιηκεναι αυτους το πονηρον εναντι κυριου

“The kings came and fought, then the kings of Canaan fought at Taanach by the waters of Megiddo. They took no plunder of silver.

ηλθον βασιλεις και παρεταξαντο τοτε επολεμησαν βασιλεις χανααν εν θενναχ επι υδατος μαγεδδω πλεονεξιαν αργυριου ουκ ελαβον

The hand of Midian prevailed against Israel; and because of Midian the children of Israel made themselves the dens which are in the mountains, the caves, and the strongholds.

So it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites, the Amalekites, and the children of the east came up against them.

Gideon saw that he was Yahweh’s angel; and Gideon said, “Alas, Lord Yahweh! Because I have seen Yahweh’s angel face to face!”

That same night, Yahweh said to him, “Take your father’s bull, even the second bull seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the Asherah that is by it.

και εγενηθη τη νυκτι εκεινη και ειπεν αυτω κυριος λαβε τον μοσχον τον σιτευτον του πατρος σου μοσχον τον επταετη και καθελεις το θυσιαστηριον του βααλ ο εστιν του πατρος σου και το αλσος το επ αυτω εκκοψεις

When the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was broken down, and the Asherah was cut down that was by it, and the second bull was offered on the altar that was built.

Then the men of the city said to Joash, “Bring out your son, that he may die, because he has broken down the altar of Baal, and because he has cut down the Asherah that was by it.”

Joash said to all who stood against him, “Will you contend for Baal? Or will you save him? He who will contend for him, let him be put to death by morning! If he is a god, let him contend for himself, because someone has broken down his altar!”

Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people who were with him, rose up early and encamped beside the spring of Harod. Midian’s camp was on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.

The trees set out to anoint a king over themselves. They said to the olive tree, ‘Reign over us.’

“The trees said to the fig tree, ‘Come and reign over us.’
