But Jehoshaphat said, “Isn’t there a prophet of Yahweh here, that we may inquire of Yahweh by him?” One of the king of Israel’s servants answered, “Elisha the son of Shaphat, who poured water on the hands of Elijah, is here.”

Jehoshaphat said, “Yahweh’s word is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.

Yahweh was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and didn’t seek the Baals,

And the Lord H3068 was with Jehoshaphat, H3092 because he walked H1980 (QalPerf) in the first H7223 ways H1870 of his father H1 David, H1732 and sought H1875 (QalPerf) not unto Baalim; H1168

και εγενετο κυριος μετα ιωσαφατ οτι επορευθη εν οδοις του πατρος αυτου ταις πρωταις και ουκ εξεζητησεν τα ειδωλα

Therefore Yahweh established the kingdom in his hand. All Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had riches and honor in abundance.

Therefore the Lord H3068 stablished H3559 (HiphImpf) the kingdom H4467 in his hand; H3027 and all Judah H3063 brought^§ H5414 (QalImpf) to Jehoshaphat H3092 presents; H4503 and he had riches H6239 and honour H3519 in abundance. H7230

2 Chronicles 17:5 Heb. gave

και κατηυθυνεν κυριος την βασιλειαν εν χειρι αυτου και εδωκεν πας ιουδα δωρα τω ιωσαφατ και εγενετο αυτω πλουτος και δοξα πολλη

The fear of Yahweh fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

And the fear H6343 of the Lord H3068 fell^§ upon all the kingdoms H4467 of the lands H776 that were round about H5439 Judah, H3063 so that they made no war H3898 (NiphPerf) against Jehoshaphat. H3092

και εγενετο εκστασις κυριου επι πασαις ταις βασιλειαις της γης ταις κυκλω ιουδα και ουκ επολεμουν προς ιωσαφατ

Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents and silver for tribute. The Arabians also brought him flocks: seven thousand seven hundred rams and seven thousand seven hundred male goats.

και απο των αλλοφυλων εφερον τω ιωσαφατ δωρα και αργυριον και δοματα και οι αραβες εφερον αυτω κριους προβατων επτακισχιλιους επτακοσιους

Jehoshaphat grew great exceedingly; and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.

And Jehoshaphat H3092 waxed H1980 (QalActPtc) great H1432 exceedingly; H4605 and he built H1129 (QalImpf) in Judah H3063 castles,^§ H1003 and cities H5892 of store. H4543

και ην ιωσαφατ πορευομενος μειζων εως εις υψος και ωκοδομησεν οικησεις εν τη ιουδαια και πολεις οχυρας

Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and he allied himself with Ahab.

Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “Will you go with me to Ramoth Gilead?” He answered him, “I am as you are, and my people as your people. We will be with you in the war.”

και ειπεν αχααβ βασιλευς ισραηλ προς ιωσαφατ βασιλεα ιουδα πορευση μετ εμου εις ραμωθ της γαλααδιτιδος και ειπεν αυτω ως εγω ουτως και συ ως ο λαος σου και ο λαος μου μετα σου εις πολεμον

Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire first for Yahweh’s word.”

And Jehoshaphat H3092 said H559 (QalImpf) unto the king H4428 of Israel, H3478 Enquire, H1875 (QalImpv) I pray thee, at the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 to day. H3117

και ειπεν ιωσαφατ προς βασιλεα ισραηλ ζητησον δη σημερον τον κυριον

But Jehoshaphat said, “Isn’t there here a prophet of Yahweh besides, that we may inquire of him?”

But Jehoshaphat H3092 said, H559 (QalImpf) Is there not here a prophet H5030 of the Lord H3068 besides,^§ that we might enquire H1875 (QalImpf) of him?

2 Chronicles 18:6 Heb. yet or more

και ειπεν ιωσαφατ ουκ εστιν ωδε προφητης του κυριου ετι και επιζητησομεν παρ αυτου

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Yahweh; but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil. He is Micaiah the son of Imla.” Jehoshaphat said, “Don’t let the king say so.”

Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah each sat on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Didn’t I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”
