Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but you must also make yourself a prince over us?

μη μικρον τουτο οτι ανηγαγες ημας εκ γης ρεουσης γαλα και μελι αποκτειναι ημας εν τη ερημω οτι καταρχεις ημων αρχων

To the more you shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer you shall give the less inheritance. To everyone according to those who were counted of him shall his inheritance be given.

According to the lot shall their inheritance be divided between the more and the fewer.”

Yahweh didn’t set his love on you nor choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all peoples;

Yahweh your God will cast out those nations before you little by little. You may not consume them at once, lest the animals of the field increase on you.

So he arose and went to Zarephath; and when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and said, “Please get me a little water in a jar, that I may drink.”

και ανεστη και επορευθη εις σαρεπτα εις τον πυλωνα της πολεως και ιδου εκει γυνη χηρα συνελεγεν ξυλα και εβοησεν οπισω αυτης ηλιου και ειπεν αυτη λαβε δη μοι ολιγον υδωρ εις αγγος και πιομαι

She said, “As Yahweh your God lives, I don’t have anything baked, but only a handful of meal in a jar and a little oil in a jar. Behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”

και ειπεν η γυνη ζη κυριος ο θεος σου ει εστιν μοι εγκρυφιας αλλ η οσον δραξ αλευρου εν τη υδρια και ολιγον ελαιον εν τω καψακη και ιδου εγω συλλεγω δυο ξυλαρια και εισελευσομαι και ποιησω αυτο εμαυτη και τοις τεκνοις μου και φαγομεθα και αποθανουμεθα

Jehu gathered all the people together, and said to them, “Ahab served Baal a little, but Jehu will serve him much.

και συνηθροισεν ιου παντα τον λαον και ειπεν προς αυτους αχααβ εδουλευσεν τω βααλ ολιγα και γε ιου δουλευσει αυτω πολλα

when you were but a few men in number, yes, very few, and foreigners in it.

When Yahweh saw that they humbled themselves, Yahweh’s word came to Shemaiah, saying, “They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath won’t be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

αλλ η οι ιερεις ολιγοι ησαν και ουκ εδυναντο δειραι την ολοκαυτωσιν και αντελαβοντο αυτων οι αδελφοι αυτων οι λευιται εως ου συνετελεσθη το εργον και εως ου ηγνισθησαν οι ιερεις οτι οι λευιται προθυμως ηγνισθησαν παρα τους ιερεις

Now for a little moment grace has been shown from Yahweh our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a stake in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and revive us a little in our bondage.

I arose in the night, I and a few men with me. I didn’t tell anyone what my God put into my heart to do for Jerusalem. There wasn’t any animal with me except the animal that I rode on.

Now the city was wide and large; but the people were few therein, and the houses were not built.

η ουκ ολιγος εστιν ο χρονος του βιου μου εασον με αναπαυσασθαι μικρον

Are the consolations of God too small for you, even the word that is gentle toward you?

[Are] the consolations H8575 of God H410 small H4592 with thee? is there any secret H328 thing H1697 with thee?

ολιγα ων ημαρτηκας μεμαστιγωσαι μεγαλως υπερβαλλοντως λελαληκας

They are exalted; yet a little while, and they are gone. Yes, they are brought low, they are taken out of the way as all others, and are cut off as the tops of the ears of grain.

For I don’t know how to give flattering titles, or else my Maker would soon take me away.
