So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he went out, and fell on him, so that he died. The kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.

και ενετειλατο ο βασιλευς σαλωμων τω βαναια υιω ιωδαε και εξηλθεν και ανειλεν αυτον και απεθανεν

Solomon made a marriage alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt. He took Pharaoh’s daughter and brought her into David’s city until he had finished building his own house, Yahweh’s house, and the wall around Jerusalem.

And Solomon H8010 made affinity H2859 (HithImpf) with Pharaoh H6547 king H4428 of Egypt, H4714 and took H3947 (QalImpf) Pharaoh’s H6547 daughter, H1323 and brought H935 (HiphImpf) her into the city H5892 of David, H1732 until he had made an end H3615 (PielInf) of building H1129 (QalInf) his own house, H1004 and the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and the wall H2346 of Jerusalem H3389 round about. The king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place. Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.

And the king H4428 went H3212 (QalImpf) to Gibeon H1391 to sacrifice H2076 (QalInf) there; for that H1931 [was] the great H1419 high place: H1116 a thousand H505 burnt offerings H5930 did Solomon H8010 offer H5927 (HiphImpf) upon that altar. H4196

I have also given you that which you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there will not be any among the kings like you for all your days.

και α ουκ ητησω δεδωκα σοι και πλουτον και δοξαν ως ου γεγονεν ανηρ ομοιος σοι εν βασιλευσιν

Then two women who were prostitutes came to the king, and stood before him.

Then came H935 (QalImpf) there two H8147 women, H802 [that were] harlots, H2181 (QalActPtc) unto the king, H4428 and stood H5975 (QalImpf) before H6440 him.

τοτε ωφθησαν δυο γυναικες πορναι τω βασιλει και εστησαν ενωπιον αυτου

The other woman said, “No! But the living one is my son, and the dead one is your son.” The first one said, “No! But the dead one is your son, and the living one is my son.” They argued like this before the king.

And the other H312 woman H802 said, H559 (QalImpf) Nay; but the living H2416 [is] my son, H1121 and the dead H4191 (QalPtc) [is] thy son. και ειπεν η γυνη η ετερα ουχι αλλα ο υιος μου ο ζων ο δε υιος σου ο τεθνηκως και ελαλησαν ενωπιον του βασιλεως

Then the king said, “One says, ‘This is my son who lives, and your son is the dead;’ and the other says, ‘No! But your son is the dead one, and my son is the living one.’ ”

The king said, “Get me a sword.” So they brought a sword before the king.

και ειπεν ο βασιλευς λαβετε μοι μαχαιραν και προσηνεγκαν την μαχαιραν ενωπιον του βασιλεως

The king said, “Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.”

Then the woman whose the living child was spoke to the king, for her heart yearned over her son, and she said, “Oh, my lord, give her the living child, and in no way kill him!” But the other said, “He shall be neither mine nor yours. Divide him.”

και απεκριθη η γυνη ης ην ο υιος ο ζων και ειπεν προς τον βασιλεα οτι εταραχθη η μητρα αυτης επι τω υιω αυτης και ειπεν εν εμοι κυριε δοτε αυτη το παιδιον και θανατω μη θανατωσητε αυτον και αυτη ειπεν μητε εμοι μητε αυτη εστω διελετε

Then the king answered, “Give the first woman the living child, and definitely do not kill him. She is his mother.”

All Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to do justice.

King Solomon was king over all Israel.

Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers; Zabud the son of Nathan was chief minister, the king’s friend;

και ορνια υιος ναθαν επι των καθεσταμενων και ζαβουθ υιος ναθαν εταιρος του βασιλεως

Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, who provided food for the king and his household. Each man had to make provision for a month in the year.

And Solomon H8010 had twelve H8147 H6240 officers H5324 (NiphPtc) over all Israel, H3478 which provided victuals H3557 (PilpPerf) for the king H4428 and his household: H1004 each man H259 his month H2320 in a year H8141 made provision. H3557 (PilpInf)

Geber the son of Uri, in the land of Gilead, the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and of Og king of Bashan; and he was the only officer who was in the land.

For he had dominion over all on this side the River, from Tiphsah even to Gaza, over all the kings on this side the River; and he had peace on all sides around him.

^[5:4] οτι ην αρχων περαν του ποταμου και ην αυτω ειρηνη εκ παντων των μερων κυκλοθεν

Those officers provided food for King Solomon, and for all who came to King Solomon’s table, every man in his month. They let nothing be lacking.

And those officers H5324 (NiphPtc) provided victual H3557 (PilpPerf) for king H4428 Solomon, H8010 and for all that came H7131 unto king H4428 Solomon’s H8010 table, H7979 every man H376 in his month: H2320 they lacked H5737 (PielImpf) nothing. H1697

People of all nations came to hear the wisdom of Solomon, sent by all kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom.

And there came H935 (QalImpf) of all people H5971 to hear H8085 (QalInf) the wisdom H2451 of Solomon, H8010 from all kings H4428 of the earth, H776 which had heard H8085 (QalPerf) of his wisdom. H2451

Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon, for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the place of his father, and Hiram had always loved David.

And Hiram H2438 king H4428 of Tyre H6865 sent H7971 (QalImpf) his servants H5650 unto Solomon; H8010 for he had heard H8085 (QalPerf) that they had anointed H4886 (QalPerf) him king H4428 in the room of his father: H1 for Hiram H2438 was ever H3117 a lover H157 (QalActPtc) of David. H1732

King Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.

And king H4428 Solomon H8010 raised H5927 (HiphImpf) a levy H4522 out of all Israel; H3478 and the levy H4522 was thirty H7970 thousand H505 men. H376

^[5:27] και ανηνεγκεν ο βασιλευς φορον εκ παντος ισραηλ και ην ο φορος τριακοντα χιλιαδες ανδρων

The king commanded, and they cut out large stones, costly stones, to lay the foundation of the house with worked stone.

And the king H4428 commanded, H6680 (PielImpf) and they brought H5265 (HiphImpf) great H1419 stones, H68 costly H3368 stones, H68 [and] hewed H1496 stones, H68 to lay the foundation H3245 (PielInf) of the house. H1004

The house which King Solomon built for Yahweh had a length of sixty cubits,° and its width twenty, and its height thirty cubits.

και ο οικος ον ωκοδομησεν ο βασιλευς σαλωμων τω κυριω τεσσαρακοντα πηχεων μηκος αυτου και εικοσι εν πηχει πλατος αυτου και πεντε και εικοσι εν πηχει το υψος αυτου

King Solomon sent and brought Hiram out of Tyre.

And king H4428 Solomon H8010 sent H7971 (QalImpf) and fetched H3947 (QalImpf) Hiram H2438 out of Tyre. H6865

^[7:1] και απεστειλεν ο βασιλευς σαλωμων και ελαβεν τον χιραμ εκ τυρου

He was the son of a widow of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in bronze; and he was filled with wisdom and understanding and skill to work all works in bronze. He came to King Solomon and performed all his work.

He [was] a widow’s H802 H490 son H1121 of the tribe H4294 of Naphtali, H5321 and his father H1 [was] a man H376 of Tyre, H6876 a worker H2790 (QalActPtc) in brass: H5178 and he was filled H4390 (NiphImpf) with wisdom, H2451 and understanding, H8394 and cunning H1847 to work H6213 (QalInf) all works H4399 in brass. H5178 And he came H935 (QalImpf) to king H4428 Solomon, H8010 and wrought H6213 (QalImpf) all his work. H4399

^[7:2] υιον γυναικος χηρας και ουτος απο της φυλης νεφθαλι και ο πατηρ αυτου ανηρ τυριος τεκτων χαλκου και πεπληρωμενος της τεχνης και συνεσεως και επιγνωσεως του ποιειν παν εργον εν χαλκω και εισηχθη προς τον βασιλεα σαλωμων και εποιησεν παντα τα εργα

Hiram made the pots, the shovels, and the basins. So Hiram finished doing all the work that he worked for King Solomon in Yahweh’s house:

And Hiram H2438 made H6213 (QalImpf) the lavers, H3595 and the shovels, H3257 and the basons. H4219 So Hiram H2438 made H3615 (PielImpf) an end of doing H6213 (QalInf) all the work H4399 that he made H6213 (QalPerf) king H4428 Solomon H8010 for the house H1004 of the Lord: H3068

^[7:26] και εποιησεν χιραμ τους λεβητας και τας θερμαστρεις και τας φιαλας και συνετελεσεν χιραμ ποιων παντα τα εργα α εποιησεν τω βασιλει σαλωμων εν οικω κυριου

the pots; the shovels; and the basins. All of these vessels, which Hiram made for King Solomon in Yahweh’s house, were of burnished bronze.

And the pots, H5518 and the shovels, H3257 and the basons: H4219 and all these vessels, H3627 which Hiram H2438 made H6213 (QalPerf) to king H4428 Solomon H8010 for the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 [were of] bright H4178 (PualPtc) brass. H5178

The king cast them in the plain of the Jordan, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zarethan.

In the plain H3603 of Jordan H3383 did the king H4428 cast H3332 (QalPerf) them, in the clay H4568 ground H127 between Succoth H5523 and Zarthan. H6891

^[7:33] εν τω περιοικω του ιορδανου εχωνευσεν αυτα ο βασιλευς εν τω παχει της γης ανα μεσον σοκχωθ και ανα μεσον σιρα

Thus all the work that King Solomon did in Yahweh’s house was finished. Solomon brought in the things which David his father had dedicated—the silver, the gold, and the vessels—and put them in the treasuries of Yahweh’s house.

So was ended H7999 (QalImpf) all the work H4399 that king H4428 Solomon H8010 made H6213 (QalPerf) for the house H1004 of the Lord. ^[7:37] και ανεπληρωθη παν το εργον ο εποιησεν σαλωμων οικου κυριου και εισηνεγκεν σαλωμων τα αγια δαυιδ του πατρος αυτου και παντα τα αγια σαλωμων το αργυριον και το χρυσιον και τα σκευη εδωκεν εις τους θησαυρους οικου κυριου

Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel with all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers’ households of the children of Israel, to King Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of Yahweh’s covenant out of David’s city, which is Zion.

Then Solomon H8010 assembled H6950 (HiphImpf) the elders H2205 of Israel, H3478 and all the heads H7218 of the tribes, H4294 the chief H5387 of the fathers H1 of the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 unto king H4428 Solomon H8010 in Jerusalem, H3389 that they might bring up H5927 (HiphInf) the ark H727 of the covenant H1285 of the Lord H3068 out of the city H5892 of David, H1732 which [is] Zion. και εγενετο εν τω συντελεσαι σαλωμων του οικοδομησαι τον οικον κυριου και τον οικον εαυτου μετα εικοσι ετη τοτε εξεκκλησιασεν ο βασιλευς σαλωμων παντας τους πρεσβυτερους ισραηλ εν σιων του ανενεγκειν την κιβωτον διαθηκης κυριου εκ πολεως δαυιδ αυτη εστιν σιων

All the men of Israel assembled themselves to King Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.

And all the men H376 of Israel H3478 assembled H6950 (NiphImpf) themselves unto king H4428 Solomon H8010 at the feast H2282 in the month H3391 Ethanim, H388 which [is] the seventh H7637 month. H2320

εν μηνι αθανιν

King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, who were assembled to him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and cattle that could not be counted or numbered for multitude.

And king H4428 Solomon, H8010 and all the congregation H5712 of Israel, H3478 that were assembled H3259 (NiphPtc) unto him, [were] with him before H6440 the ark, H727 sacrificing H2076 (PielPtc) sheep H6629 and oxen, H1241 that could not be told H5608 (NiphImpf) nor numbered H4487 (NiphImpf) for multitude. The king turned his face around and blessed all the assembly of Israel; and all the assembly of Israel stood.

And the king H4428 turned H5437 his face H6440 about, H5437 (HiphImpf) and blessed H1288 (PielImpf) all the congregation H6951 of Israel: H3478 (and all the congregation H6951 of Israel H3478 stood; H5975 (QalActPtc))

και απεστρεψεν ο βασιλευς το προσωπον αυτου και ευλογησεν ο βασιλευς παντα ισραηλ και πασα εκκλησια ισραηλ ειστηκει

The king, and all Israel with him, offered sacrifice before Yahweh.

And the king, H4428 and all Israel H3478 with him, offered H2076 (QalActPtc) sacrifice H2077 before H6440 the Lord. H3068

και ο βασιλευς και παντες οι υιοι ισραηλ εθυσαν θυσιαν ενωπιον κυριου

Solomon offered for the sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered to Yahweh, twenty two thousand head of cattle and one hundred twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated Yahweh’s house.

And Solomon H8010 offered H2076 (QalImpf) a sacrifice H2077 of peace offerings, H8002 which he offered H2076 (QalPerf) unto the Lord, H3068 two H8147 and twenty H6242 thousand H505 oxen, H1241 and an hundred H3967 and twenty H6242 thousand H505 sheep. H6629 So the king H4428 and all the children H1121 of Israel H3478 dedicated H2596 (QalImpf) the house H1004 of the Lord. H3068

και εθυσεν ο βασιλευς σαλωμων τας θυσιας των ειρηνικων ας εθυσεν τω κυριω βοων δυο και εικοσι χιλιαδας και προβατων εκατον εικοσι χιλιαδας και ενεκαινισεν τον οικον κυριου ο βασιλευς και παντες οι υιοι ισραηλ

The same day the king made the middle of the court holy that was before Yahweh’s house; for there he offered the burnt offering, the meal offering, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar that was before Yahweh was too little to receive the burnt offering, the meal offering, and the fat of the peace offerings.

The same day H3117 did the king H4428 hallow H6942 (PielPerf) the middle H8432 of the court H2691 that [was] before H6440 the house H1004 of the Lord: H3068 for there he offered H6213 (QalPerf) burnt offerings, H5930 and meat offerings, H4503 and the fat H2459 of the peace offerings: H8002 because the brasen H5178 altar H4196 that [was] before H6440 the Lord H3068 [was] too little H6996 to receive H3557 (HiphInf) the burnt offerings, H5930 and meat offerings, H4503 and the fat H2459 of the peace offerings. H8002

τη ημερα εκεινη ηγιασεν ο βασιλευς το μεσον της αυλης το κατα προσωπον του οικου κυριου οτι εποιησεν εκει την ολοκαυτωσιν και τας θυσιας και τα στεατα των ειρηνικων οτι το θυσιαστηριον το χαλκουν το ενωπιον κυριου μικρον του μη δυνασθαι την ολοκαυτωσιν και τας θυσιας των ειρηνικων υπενεγκειν

On the eighth day he sent the people away; and they blessed the king, and went to their tents joyful and glad in their hearts for all the goodness that Yahweh had shown to David his servant, and to Israel his people.

On the eighth H8066 day H3117 he sent H7971 the people H5971 away: H7971 (PielPerf) and they blessed H1288 (PielImpf) the king, H4428 and went H3212 (QalImpf) unto their tents H168 joyful H8056 and glad H2896 of heart H3820 for all the goodness H2896 that the Lord H3068 had done H6213 (QalPerf) for David H1732 his servant, H5650 and for Israel H3478 his people. When Solomon had finished the building of Yahweh’s house, the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he was pleased to do,

At the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the two houses, Yahweh’s house and the king’s house

This is the reason of the forced labor which King Solomon conscripted: to build Yahweh’s house, his own house, Millo, Jerusalem’s wall, Hazor, Megiddo, and Gezer.

King Solomon made a fleet of ships in Ezion Geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.

And king H4428 Solomon H8010 made H6213 (QalPerf) a navy of ships H590 in Eziongeber, H6100 which [is] beside Eloth, H359 on the shore H8193 of the Red H5488 sea, H3220 in the land H776 of Edom. H123

και ναυν υπερ ου εποιησεν ο βασιλευς σαλωμων εν γασιωνγαβερ την ουσαν εχομενην αιλαθ επι του χειλους της εσχατης θαλασσης εν γη εδωμ

They came to Ophir, and fetched from there gold, four hundred and twenty talents,° and brought it to King Solomon.

και ηλθον εις σωφηρα και ελαβον εκειθεν χρυσιου εκατον και εικοσι ταλαντα και ηνεγκαν τω βασιλει σαλωμων

Solomon answered all her questions. There wasn’t anything hidden from the king which he didn’t tell her.

και απηγγειλεν αυτη σαλωμων παντας τους λογους αυτης ουκ ην λογος παρεωραμενος παρα του βασιλεως ον ουκ απηγγειλεν αυτη

She said to the king, “It was a true report that I heard in my own land of your acts and of your wisdom.

Blessed is Yahweh your God, who delighted in you, to set you on the throne of Israel. Because Yahweh loved Israel forever, therefore he made you king, to do justice and righteousness.”

γενοιτο κυριος ο θεος σου ευλογημενος ος ηθελησεν εν σοι δουναι σε επι θρονου ισραηλ δια το αγαπαν κυριον τον ισραηλ στησαι εις τον αιωνα και εθετο σε βασιλεα επ αυτους του ποιειν κριμα εν δικαιοσυνη και εν κριμασιν αυτων

She gave the king one hundred twenty talents of gold, and a very great quantity of spices, and precious stones. Never again was there such an abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.
