He cried against the altar by Yahweh’s word, and said, “Altar! Altar! Yahweh says: ‘Behold, a son will be born to David’s house, Josiah by name. On you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and they will burn men’s bones on you.’ ”

But the people of the land killed all those who had conspired against King Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his place.

And the people H5971 of the land H776 slew H5221 (HiphImpf) all them that had conspired H7194 (QalActPtc) against king H4428 Amon; H526 and the people H5971 of the land H776 made Josiah H2977 his son H1121 king H4427 (HiphImpf) in his stead.

He was buried in his tomb in the garden of Uzza, and Josiah his son reigned in his place.

Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jedidah the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath.

υιος οκτω ετων ιωσιας εν τω βασιλευειν αυτον και τριακοντα και εν ετος εβασιλευσεν εν ιερουσαλημ και ονομα τη μητρι αυτου ιεδιδα θυγατηρ εδεια εκ βασουρωθ

In the eighteenth year of King Josiah, the king sent Shaphan, the son of Azaliah the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to Yahweh’s house, saying,

και εγενηθη εν τω οκτωκαιδεκατω ετει τω βασιλει ιωσια εν τω μηνι τω ογδοω απεστειλεν ο βασιλευς τον σαφφαν υιον εσελιου υιου μεσολλαμ τον γραμματεα οικου κυριου λεγων

As Josiah turned himself, he spied the tombs that were there in the mountain; and he sent, and took the bones out of the tombs, and burned them on the altar, and defiled it, according to Yahweh’s word which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these things.

All the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke Yahweh to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.

but in the eighteenth year of King Josiah, this Passover was kept to Yahweh in Jerusalem.

οτι αλλ η τω οκτωκαιδεκατω ετει του βασιλεως ιωσια εγενηθη το πασχα τω κυριω εν ιερουσαλημ

Moreover, Josiah removed those who had familiar spirits, the wizards, and the teraphim,° and the idols, and all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in Yahweh’s house.

In his days Pharaoh Necoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates; and King Josiah went against him, but Pharaoh Necoh killed him at Megiddo when he saw him.

His servants carried him dead in a chariot from Megiddo, brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own tomb. The people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father’s place.

And his servants H5650 carried him in a chariot H7392 (HiphImpf) dead H4191 (QalPtc) from Megiddo, H4023 and brought H935 (HiphImpf) him to Jerusalem, H3389 and buried H6912 (QalImpf) him in his own sepulchre. Pharaoh Necoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the place of Josiah his father, and changed his name to Jehoiakim; but he took Jehoahaz away, and he came to Egypt and died there.

Josiah kept a Passover to Yahweh in Jerusalem. They killed the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month.

Moreover Josiah H2977 kept H6213 (QalImpf) a passover H6453 unto the Lord H3068 in Jerusalem: H3389 and they killed H7819 (QalImpf) the passover H6453 on the fourteenth H702 H6240 [day] of the first H7223 month. H2320

και εποιησεν ιωσιας το φασεχ τω κυριω θεω αυτου και εθυσαν το φασεχ τη τεσσαρεσκαιδεκατη του μηνος του πρωτου

Josiah gave to the children of the people, of the flock, lambs and young goats, all of them for the Passover offerings, to all who were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bulls. These were of the king’s substance.

So all the service of Yahweh was prepared the same day, to keep the Passover, and to offer burnt offerings on Yahweh’s altar, according to the commandment of King Josiah.

So all the service H5656 of the Lord H3068 was prepared H3559 (NiphImpf) the same day, H3117 to keep H6213 (QalInf) the passover, H6453 and to offer H5927 (HiphInf) burnt offerings H5930 upon the altar H4196 of the Lord, H3068 according to the commandment H4687 of king H4428 Josiah. H2977

και κατωρθωθη και ητοιμασθη πασα η λειτουργια κυριου εν τη ημερα εκεινη του ποιησαι το φασεχ και ενεγκειν τα ολοκαυτωματα επι το θυσιαστηριον κυριου κατα την εντολην του βασιλεως ιωσια

There was no Passover like that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet, nor did any of the kings of Israel keep such a Passover as Josiah kept—with the priests, the Levites, and all Judah and Israel who were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

And there was no passover H6453 like H3644 to that kept H6213 (NiphPerf) in Israel H3478 from the days H3117 of Samuel H8050 the prophet; H5030 neither did H6213 (QalPerf) all the kings H4428 of Israel H3478 keep H6213 (QalPerf) such a passover H6453 as Josiah H2977 kept, H6213 (QalPerf) and the priests, H3548 and the Levites, H3881 and all Judah H3063 and Israel H3478 that were present, H4672 (NiphPtc) and the inhabitants H3427 (QalActPtc) of Jerusalem. H3389

και ουκ εγενετο φασεχ ομοιον αυτω εν ισραηλ απο ημερων σαμουηλ του προφητου και παντες βασιλεις ισραηλ ουκ εποιησαν ως το φασεχ ο εποιησεν ιωσιας και οι ιερεις και οι λευιται και πας ιουδα και ισραηλ ο ευρεθεις και οι κατοικουντες εν ιερουσαλημ τω κυριω

This Passover was kept in the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah.

In the eighteenth H8083 H6240 year H8141 of the reign H4438 of Josiah H2977 was this passover H6453 kept. H6213 (NiphPerf)

After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Neco king of Egypt went up to fight against Carchemish by the Euphrates, and Josiah went out against him.

After H310 all this, when Josiah H2977 had prepared H3559 (HiphPerf) the temple, H1004 Necho H5224 king H4428 of Egypt H4714 came up H5927 (QalPerf) to fight H3898 (NiphInf) against Carchemish H3751 by Euphrates: H6578 and Josiah H2977 went out H3318 (QalImpf) against H7125 (QalInf) him.

και ανεβη φαραω νεχαω βασιλευς αιγυπτου επι τον βασιλεα ασσυριων επι τον ποταμον ευφρατην και επορευθη ο βασιλευς ιωσιας εις συναντησιν αυτω

Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself, that he might fight with him, and didn’t listen to the words of Neco from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo.

Nevertheless Josiah H2977 would not turn H5437 (HiphPerf) his face H6440 from him, but disguised H2664 (HithPerf) himself, that he might fight H3898 (NiphInf) with him, and hearkened H8085 (QalPerf) not unto the words H1697 of Necho H5224 from the mouth H6310 of God, H430 and came H935 (QalImpf) to fight H3898 (NiphInf) in the valley H1237 of Megiddo. και ουκ απεστρεψεν ιωσιας το προσωπον αυτου απ αυτου αλλ η πολεμειν αυτον εκραταιωθη και ουκ ηκουσεν των λογων νεχαω δια στοματος θεου και ηλθεν του πολεμησαι εν τω πεδιω μαγεδων

The archers shot at King Josiah; and the king said to his servants, “Take me away, because I am seriously wounded!”

And the archers H3384 (QalActPtc) shot H3384 (HiphImpf) at king H4428 Josiah; H2977 and the king H4428 said H559 (QalImpf) to his servants, H5650 Have me away; H5674 (HiphImpv) for I am sore H3966 wounded. H2470 (HophPerf)

και ετοξευσαν οι τοξοται επι βασιλεα ιωσιαν και ειπεν ο βασιλευς τοις παισιν αυτου εξαγαγετε με οτι επονεσα σφοδρα

So his servants took him out of the chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had, and brought him to Jerusalem; and he died, and was buried in the tombs of his fathers. All Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

Jeremiah lamented for Josiah, and all the singing men and singing women spoke of Josiah in their lamentations to this day; and they made them an ordinance in Israel. Behold, they are written in the lamentations.

And Jeremiah H3414 lamented H6969 (PoleImpf) for Josiah: H2977 and all the singing men H7891 (QalActPtc) and the singing women H7891 (QalActPtc) spake H559 (QalImpf) of Josiah H2977 in their lamentations H7015 to this day, H3117 and made H5414 (QalImpf) them an ordinance H2706 in Israel: H3478 and, behold, they [are] written H3789 (QalPasPtc) in the lamentations. Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father’s place in Jerusalem.

Then the people H5971 of the land H776 took H3947 (QalImpf) Jehoahaz H3059 the son H1121 of Josiah, H2977 and made him king H4427 (HiphImpf) in his father’s H1 stead in Jerusalem. H3389

Yahweh’s^§ word came to him in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, to the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, to the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.
