“Yahweh’s Spirit spoke by me. His word was on my tongue.

“If someone ventures to talk with you, will you be grieved? But who can withhold himself from speaking?

If we assay H5254 (PielPerf) to commune^§ H1697 with thee, wilt thou be grieved? H3811 (QalImpf) But who can H3201 (QalImpf) withhold H6113 (QalInf) himself from speaking? H4405

Job 4:2 Heb. a word

μη πολλακις σοι λελαληται εν κοπω ισχυν δε ρηματων σου τις υποισει

Your words have supported him who was falling, you have made the feeble knees firm.

Thy words H4405 have upholden H6965 (HiphImpf) him that was falling, H3782 (QalActPtc) And thou hast strengthened H553 (PielImpf) the feeble H3766 (QalActPtc) knees.° H1290

Job 4:4 The bowing knees

ασθενουντας τε εξανεστησας ρημασιν γονασιν τε αδυνατουσιν θαρσος περιεθηκας

Do you intend to reprove words, since the speeches of one who is desperate are as wind?

Do ye imagine H2803 (QalImpf) to reprove H3198 (HiphInf) words, H4405 And the speeches H561 of one that is desperate, H2976 (NiphPtc) which are as wind? H7307

ουδε ο ελεγχος υμων ρημασιν με παυσει ουδε γαρ υμων φθεγμα ρηματος ανεξομαι

Shall they not teach you, tell you, and utter words out of their heart?

Shall not they teach H3384 (HiphImpf) thee, and tell H559 (QalImpf) thee, And utter H3318 (HiphImpf) words H4405 out of their heart? H3820

η ουχ ουτοι σε διδαξουσιν και αναγγελουσιν και εκ καρδιας εξαξουσιν ρηματα

Doesn’t the ear try words, even as the palate tastes its food?

Doth not the ear H241 try H974 (QalImpf) words? H4405 And the mouth^§ H2441 taste H2938 (QalImpf) his meat? H400

Job 12:11 Heb. palate

ους μεν γαρ ρηματα διακρινει λαρυγξ δε σιτα γευεται

Listen carefully to my speech. Let my declaration be in your ears.

Hear H8085 (QalImpv) diligently H8085 (QalInf) my speech, H4405 And my declaration H262 with your ears. H241

ακουσατε ακουσατε τα ρηματα μου αναγγελω γαρ υμων ακουοντων

Should he reason with unprofitable talk, or with speeches with which he can do no good?

Should he reason H3198 (HiphInf) with unprofitable H5532 (QalImpf) talk? H1697 Or with speeches H4405 wherewith he can do no good? H3276 (HiphImpf)

ελεγχων εν ρημασιν οις ου δει εν λογοις οις ουδεν οφελος

that you turn your spirit against God, and let such words go out of your mouth?

That thou turnest H7725 (HiphImpf) thy spirit H7307 against God, H410 And lettest such words H4405 go out H3318 (HiphPerf) of thy mouth? H6310

οτι θυμον ερρηξας εναντι κυριου εξηγαγες δε εκ στοματος ρηματα τοιαυτα

I also could speak as you do. If your soul were in my soul’s place, I could join words together against you, and shake my head at you,

I also could speak H1696 (PielImpf) as ye do: If H3863 your soul H5315 were H3426 in my soul’s H5315 stead, I could heap up H2266 (HiphImpf) words H4405 against you, And shake H5128 (HiphImpf) mine head H7218 at H1119 you.

καγω καθ υμας λαλησω ει υπεκειτο γε η ψυχη υμων αντι της εμης ειτ εναλουμαι υμιν ρημασιν κινησω δε καθ υμων κεφαλην

“How long will you hunt for words? Consider, and afterwards we will speak.

μεχρι τινος ου παυση επισχες ινα και αυτοι λαλησωμεν

“How long will you torment me, and crush me with words?

εως τινος εγκοπον ποιησετε ψυχην μου και καθαιρειτε με λογοις

“Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book!

Oh that H5414 (QalImpf) my words H4405 were now H645 written!^§ H3789 (NiphImpf) Oh that H5414 (QalImpf) they were printed H2710 (HophImpf) in a book! H5612

Job 19:23 Heb. who will give? etc.

τις γαρ αν δωη γραφηναι τα ρηματα μου τεθηναι δε αυτα εν βιβλιω εις τον αιωνα

“Listen diligently to my speech. Let this be your consolation.

Hear H8085 (QalImpv) diligently H8085 (QalInf) my speech, H4405 And let this be your consolations. H8575

ακουσατε ακουσατε μου των λογων ινα μη η μοι παρ υμων αυτη η παρακλησις

I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would tell me.

I would know H3045 (QalImpf) the words H4405 which he would answer H6030 (QalImpf) me, And understand H995 (QalImpf) what he would say H559 (QalImpf) unto me.

γνωην δε ρηματα α μοι ερει αισθοιμην δε τινα μοι απαγγελει

If it isn’t so now, who will prove me a liar, and make my speech worth nothing?”

And if it be not so now, H645 who will make H7760 (QalImpf) me a liar, H3576 (HiphImpf) And make H7760 (QalImpf) my speech H4405 nothing worth? H408

ει δε μη τις εστιν ο φαμενος ψευδη με λεγειν και θησει εις ουδεν τα ρηματα μου

To whom have you uttered words? Whose spirit came out of you?

To whom hast thou uttered H5046 (HiphPerf) words? H4405 And whose spirit H5397 came H3318 (QalPerf) from thee?

τινι ανηγγειλας ρηματα πνοη δε τινος εστιν η εξελθουσα εκ σου

The princes refrained from talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.

The princes H8269 refrained H6113 (QalPerf) talking, H4405 And laid H7760 (QalImpf) their hand H3709 on their mouth. H6310

αδροι δε επαυσαντο λαλουντες δακτυλον επιθεντες επι στοματι

After my words they didn’t speak again. My speech fell on them.

επι δε τω εμω ρηματι ου προσεθεντο περιχαρεις δε εγινοντο οποταν αυτοις ελαλουν

“Now I have become their song. Yes, I am a byword to them.

νυνι δε κιθαρα εγω ειμι αυτων και εμε θρυλημα εχουσιν

“Behold, I waited for your words, and I listened for your reasoning, while you searched out what to say.

For I am full of words. The spirit within me constrains me.

ει εισιν λογοι αποκριθητι μοι λαλησον θελω γαρ δικαιωθηναι σε

“Hear my words, you wise men. Give ear to me, you who have knowledge.

ακουσατε μου σοφοι επισταμενοι ενωτιζεσθε το καλον

For the ear tries words, as the palate tastes food.

For the ear H241 trieth H974 (QalImpf) words, H4405 As the mouth^§ H2441 tasteth H2938 (QalImpf) meat. H398 (QalInf)

Job 34:3 Heb. palate

οτι ους λογους δοκιμαζει και λαρυγξ γευεται βρωσιν

“If now you have understanding, hear this. Listen to the voice of my words.

ει δε μη νουθετη ακουε ταυτα ενωτιζου φωνην ρηματων

I will answer you, and your companions with you.

Job 35:4 Heb. I will return to thee words

εγω σοι δωσω αποκρισιν και τοις τρισιν φιλοις σου

therefore Job opens his mouth with empty talk, and he multiplies words without knowledge.”

και ιωβ ματαιως ανοιγει το στομα αυτου εν αγνωσια ρηματα βαρυνει

“Bear with me a little, and I will show you; for I still have something to say on God’s behalf.

μεινον με μικρον ετι ινα διδαξω σε ετι γαρ εν εμοι εστιν λεξις

For truly my words are not false. One who is perfect in knowledge is with you.

For truly H551 my words H4405 shall not be false: H8267 He that is perfect H8549 in knowledge H1844 is with thee.

επ αληθειας και ουκ αδικα ρηματα αδικως συνιεις

“Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge?

Who is this that darkeneth H2821 (HiphPtc) counsel H6098 By words H4405 without knowledge? H1847

τις ουτος ο κρυπτων με βουλην συνεχων δε ρηματα εν καρδια εμε δε οιεται κρυπτειν

Their voice has gone out through all the earth, their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun,

Don’t speak in the ears of a fool, for he will despise the wisdom of your words.

εις ωτα αφρονος μηδεν λεγε μηποτε μυκτηριση τους συνετους λογους σου
