[1] David said, “Is there yet any who is left of Saul’s house, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” [2] There was of Saul’s house a servant whose name was Ziba, and they called him to David; and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?”He said, “I am your servant.” [3] The king said, “Is there not yet any of Saul’s house, that I may show the kindness of God to him?”Ziba said to the king, “Jonathan still has a son, who is lame in his feet.” [4] The king said to him, “Where is he?”Ziba said to the king, “Behold, he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lo Debar.” [5] Then King David sent and brought him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar. [6] Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, fell on his face, and showed respect. David said, “Mephibosheth?”He answered, “Behold, your servant!” [7] David said to him, “Don’t be afraid, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your father. You will eat bread at my table continually.” [8] He bowed down, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look at such a dead dog as I am?” [9] Then the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said to him, “All that belonged to Saul and to all his house I have given to your master’s son. [10] Till the land for him—you, your sons, and your servants. Bring in the harvest, that your master’s son may have bread to eat; but Mephibosheth your master’s son will always eat bread at my table.”Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants. [11] Then Ziba said to the king, “According to all that my lord the king commands his servant, so your servant will do.” So Mephibosheth ate at the king’s table like one of the king’s sons. [12] Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Mica. All who lived in Ziba’s house were servants to Mephibosheth. [13] So Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, for he ate continually at the king’s table. He was lame in both his feet.

[1] And DavidH1732 said,H559(QalImpf) Is there yetH3426 any that is leftH3498(NiphPerf) of the houseH1004 of Saul,H7586 that I may shewH6213(QalImpf) him kindnessH2617 for Jonathan’sH3083 sake? [2] And [there was] of the houseH1004 of SaulH7586 a servantH5650 whose nameH8034 [was] Ziba.H6717 And when they had calledH7121(QalImpf) him unto David,H1732 the kingH4428 saidH559(QalImpf) unto him, [Art] thou Ziba?H6717 And he said,H559(QalImpf) Thy servantH5650 [is he]. [3] And the kingH4428 said,H559(QalImpf) [Is] there notH657 yet anyH376 of the houseH1004 of Saul,H7586 that I may shewH6213(QalImpf) the kindnessH2617 of GodH430 unto him? And ZibaH6717 saidH559(QalImpf) unto the king,H4428 JonathanH3083 hath yet a son,H1121 [which is] lameH5223 on [his] feet.H7272 [4] And the kingH4428 saidH559(QalImpf) unto him, WhereH375 [is] he? And ZibaH6717 saidH559(QalImpf) unto the king,H4428 Behold, he [is] in the houseH1004 of Machir,H4353 the sonH1121 of Ammiel,H5988 in Lodebar.H3810 [5] Then kingH4428 DavidH1732 sent,H7971(QalImpf) and fetchedH3947(QalImpf) him out of the houseH1004 of Machir,H4353 the sonH1121 of Ammiel,H5988 from Lodebar.H3810 [6] Now when Mephibosheth,H4648 the sonH1121 of Jonathan,H3083 the sonH1121 of Saul,H7586 was comeH935(QalImpf) unto David,H1732 he fellH5307(QalImpf) on his face,H6440 and did reverence.H7812(HithImpf) And DavidH1732 said,H559(QalImpf) Mephibosheth.H4648 And he answered,H559(QalImpf) Behold thy servant!H5650 [7] And DavidH1732 saidH559(QalImpf) unto him, FearH3372(QalImpf) not: for I will surelyH6213(QalInf) shewH6213(QalImpf) thee kindnessH2617 for JonathanH3083 thy father’sH1 sake, and will restoreH7725(HiphPerf) thee all the landH7704 of SaulH7586 thy father;H1 and thou shalt eatH398(QalImpf) breadH3899 at my tableH7979 continually.H8548 [8] And he bowedH7812(HithImpf) himself, and said,H559(QalImpf) What [is] thy servant,H5650 that thou shouldest lookH6437(QalPerf) upon such a deadH4191(QalPtc) dogH3611 as I [am]? [9] Then the kingH4428 calledH7121(QalImpf) to Ziba,H6717 Saul’sH7586 servant,H5288 and saidH559(QalImpf) unto him, I have givenH5414(QalPerf) unto thy master’sH113 sonH1121 all that pertainedH1961(QalPerf) to SaulH7586 and to all his house.H1004 [10] Thou therefore, and thy sons,H1121 and thy servants,H5650 shall tillH5647(QalPerf) the landH127 for him, and thou shalt bringH935(HiphPerf) in [the fruits], that thy master’sH113 sonH1121 may have foodH3899 to eat:H398(QalPerf) but MephiboshethH4648 thy master’sH113 sonH1121 shall eatH398(QalImpf) breadH3899 alwayH8548 at my table.H7979 Now ZibaH6717 had fifteenH2568 sonsH1121 and twentyH6242 servants.H5650 [11] Then saidH559(QalImpf) ZibaH6717 unto the king,H4428 According to all that my lordH113 the kingH4428 hath commandedH6680(PielImpf) his servant,H5650 so shall thy servantH5650 do.H6213(QalImpf) As for Mephibosheth,H4648 [said the king], he shall eatH398(QalActPtc) at my table,H7979 as oneH259 of the king’sH4428 sons.H1121 [12] And MephiboshethH4648 had a youngH6996 son,H1121 whose nameH8034 [was] Micha.H4316 And all that dweltH4186 in the houseH1004 of ZibaH6717 [were] servantsH5650 unto Mephibosheth.H4648 [13] So MephiboshethH4648 dweltH3427(QalActPtc) in Jerusalem:H3389 for he did eatH398(QalActPtc) continuallyH8548 at the king’sH4428 table;H7979 and was lameH6455 on bothH8147 his feet.H7272
