They will bear their iniquity. The iniquity of the prophet will be even as the iniquity of him who seeks him,

that you may bear your own shame, and may be ashamed because of all that you have done, in that you are a comfort to them.

You have borne your lewdness and your abominations,” says Yahweh.

“Say, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Will it prosper? Won’t he pull up its roots and cut off its fruit, that it may wither, that all its fresh springing leaves may wither? It can’t be raised from its roots by a strong arm or many people.

Yet also I lifted up H5375 (QalPerf) my hand H3027 unto them in the wilderness, H4057 that I would not bring H935 (HiphInf) them into the land H776 which I had given H5414 (QalPerf) [them], flowing H2100 (QalActPtc) with milk H2461 and honey, H1706 which [is] the glory H6643 of all lands; H776

And also, I, I have lifted up My hand to them in the wilderness, Not to bring them in to the land that I had given, Flowing with milk and honey, A beauty it is to all the lands,

Moreover I swore to them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the nations and disperse them through the countries,

I lifted up H5375 (QalPerf) mine hand H3027 unto them also in the wilderness, H4057 that I would scatter H6327 (HiphInf) them among the heathen, H1471 and disperse H2219 (PielInf) them through the countries; H776

I also, I have lifted up My hand to them in the wilderness, To scatter them among nations, And to spread them through lands.

For when I had brought them into the land which I swore to give to them, then they saw every high hill and every thick tree, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering. There they also made their pleasant aroma, and there they poured out their drink offerings.

[For] when I had brought H935 (HiphImpf) them into the land, H776 [for] the which I lifted up H5375 (QalPerf) mine hand H3027 to give H5414 (QalInf) it to them, then they saw H7200 (QalImpf) every high H7311 (QalActPtc) hill, H1389 and all the thick H5687 trees, H6086 and they offered H2076 (QalImpf) there their sacrifices, H2077 and there they presented H5414 (QalImpf) the provocation H3708 of their offering: H7133 there also they made H7760 (QalImpf) their sweet H5207 savour, H7381 and poured out H5258 (HiphImpf) there their drink offerings. H5262

And I bring them in unto the land, That I did lift up My hand to give to them, And they see every high hill, and every thick tree, And they sacrifice there their sacrifices, And give there the provocation of their offering, And make there their sweet fragrance, And they pour out there their libations.

When you offer your gifts, when you make your sons pass through the fire, do you pollute yourselves with all your idols to this day? Should I be inquired of by you, house of Israel? As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, I will not be inquired of by you!

For when ye offer H5375 (QalInf) your gifts, H4979 when ye make your sons H1121 to pass through H5674 (HiphInf) the fire, H784 ye pollute H2930 (NiphPtc) yourselves with all your idols, H1544 even unto this day: H3117 and shall I be enquired H1875 (NiphImpf) of by you, O house H1004 of Israel? H3478 [As] I live, H2416 saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord H136 God, H3069 I will not be enquired H1875 (NiphImpf) of by you.

And in the offering of your gifts, In causing your sons to pass through fire, Ye are defiled by all your idols to this day, And I am sought by you, O house of Israel! I live-an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, I am not sought by you.

You will know that I am Yahweh when I bring you into the land of Israel, into the country which I swore to give to your fathers.

And ye shall know H3045 (QalPerf) that I [am] the Lord, H3068 when I shall bring H935 (HiphInf) you into the land H127 of Israel, H3478 into the country H776 [for] the which I lifted up H5375 (QalPerf) mine hand H3027 to give H5414 (QalInf) it to your fathers. H1

And ye have known that I am Jehovah, In My bringing you to the ground of Israel, Unto the land that I did lift up My hand To give it to your fathers,

Thus I will make your lewdness to cease from you, and remove your prostitution from the land of Egypt, so that you will not lift up your eyes to them, nor remember Egypt any more.’

Thus will I make thy lewdness H2154 to cease H7673 (HiphPerf) from thee, and thy whoredom H2184 [brought] from the land H776 of Egypt: H4714 so that thou shalt not lift up H5375 (QalImpf) thine eyes H5869 unto them, nor remember H2142 (QalImpf) Egypt H4714 any more.

And I have caused thy wickedness to cease from thee, And thy whoredoms out of the land of Egypt, And thou liftest not up thine eyes unto them, And Egypt thou dost not remember again.

“Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Because you have forgotten me and cast me behind your back, therefore you also bear your lewdness and your prostitution.’ ”

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 Because thou hast forgotten H7911 (QalPerf) me, and cast H7993 (HiphImpf) me behind H310 thy back, H1458 therefore bear H5375 (QalImpv) thou also thy lewdness H2154 and thy whoredoms. H8457

Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast forgotten Me, And thou dost cast Me behind thy back, Even thou also bear thy wickedness and thy whoredoms.’

They will recompense your lewdness on you, and you will bear the sins of your idols. Then you will know that I am the Lord Yahweh.’ ”

And they shall recompense H5414 (QalPerf) your lewdness H2154 upon you, and ye shall bear H5375 (QalImpf) the sins H2399 of your idols: H1544 and ye shall know H3045 (QalPerf) that I [am] the Lord H136 God. H3069

And they have put your wickedness on you, And the sins of your idols ye bear, And ye have known that I am the Lord Jehovah!

They will take up a lamentation over you, and tell you, “How you are destroyed, who were inhabited by seafaring men, the renowned city, who was strong in the sea, she and her inhabitants, who caused their terror to be on all who lived there!”

And they shall take up H5375 (QalPerf) a lamentation H7015 for thee, and say H559 (QalPerf) to thee, How art thou destroyed, H6 (QalPerf) [that wast] inhabited H3427 (NiphPtc) of seafaring men, H3220 the renowned H1984 (PualPtc) city, H5892 which wast strong H2389 in the sea, H3220 she and her inhabitants, H3427 (QalActPtc) which cause H5414 (QalPerf) their terror H2851 [to be] on all that haunt H3427 (QalActPtc) it!

And have lifted up for thee a lamentation, And said to thee: How hast thou perished, That art inhabited from the seas, The praised city, that was strong in the sea, She and her inhabitants, Who put their terror on all her inhabitants!

“You, son of man, take up a lamentation over Tyre;

Now, thou son H1121 of man, H120 take up H5375 (QalImpv) a lamentation H7015 for Tyrus; H6865

‘And thou, son of man, lift up concerning Tyre a lamentation, and thou hast said to Tyre:

In their wailing they will take up a lamentation for you, and lament over you, saying, ‘Who is there like Tyre, like her who is brought to silence in the middle of the sea?’

And in their wailing H5204 they shall take up H5375 (QalPerf) a lamentation H7015 for thee, and lament H6969 (PolePerf) over thee, [saying], What [city is] like Tyrus, H6865 like the destroyed H1822 in the midst H8432 of the sea? H3220

And lifted up for thee have their sons a lamentation, And they have lamented over thee, who is as Tyre? As the cut-off one in the midst of the sea?
