Because that they serve them before their idols, and have been to the house of Israel for a stumbling-block of iniquity, therefore I have lifted up my hand against them-an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah-and they have borne their iniquity.

So you shall do on the seventh day of the month for everyone who errs, and for him who is simple. So you shall make atonement for the house.

Therefore behold,^§ I will hedge up your way with thorns, and I will build a wall against her, that she can’t find her way.

“Therefore behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her.

Therefore mourn doth the land, And weak is every dweller in it, With the beast of the field, And with the fowl of the heavens, And the fishes of the sea-they are removed.

As they were multiplied, so they sinned against me. I will change their glory into shame.

According to their abundance so they sinned against Me, Their honour into shame I change.

They sacrifice on the tops of the mountains, and burn incense on the hills, under oaks, poplars, and terebinths, because its shade is good. Therefore your daughters play the prostitute, and your brides commit adultery.

On tops of the mountains they do sacrifice, And on the hills they make perfume, Under oak, and poplar, and terebinth, For good is its shade.

Therefore I have cut them to pieces with the prophets; I killed them with the words of my mouth. Your judgments are like a flash of lightning.

Therefore they are as a cloud of the morning, And as dew, rising early, going away, As chaff tossed about out of a floor, And as smoke out of a window.

According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted. Therefore they have forgotten me.

“It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions.

And it hath come to pass afterwards, I do pour out My Spirit on all flesh, And prophesied have your sons and your daughters, Your old men do dream dreams, Your young men do see visions.

“I have only chosen you of all the families of the earth. Therefore I will punish you for all of your sins.”

You only have I known H3045 (QalPerf) of all the families H4940 of the earth: H127 therefore I will punish H6485 (QalImpf) you for all your iniquities. H5771

Only you I have known of all families of the land, Therefore I charge on you all your iniquities.

Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: “An adversary will overrun the land; and he will pull down your strongholds, and your fortresses will be plundered.”

Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: An adversary-and surrounding the land, And he hath brought down from thee thy strength, And spoiled have been thy palaces.

Yahweh says: “As the shepherd rescues out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel be rescued who sit in Samaria on the corner of a couch, and on the silken cushions of a bed.”

And perfume with leaven a thank-offering, And proclaim willing gifts, sound ye! For so ye have loved, O sons of Israel, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

“Therefore I will do this to you, Israel; because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, Israel.

Therefore, because you trample on the poor and take taxes from him of wheat, you have built houses of cut stone, but you will not dwell in them. You have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink their wine.

Therefore, because of your trampling on the poor, And the tribute of corn ye take from him, Houses of hewn work ye have built, And ye do not dwell in them, Desirable vineyards ye have planted, And ye do not drink their wine.

Therefore a prudent person keeps silent in such a time, for it is an evil time.

Therefore is the wise at that time silent, For an evil time it is.

Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so Yahweh, the God of Armies, will be with you, as you say.

Seek H1875 (QalImpv) good, H2896 and not evil, H7451 that ye may live: H2421 (QalImpf) and so the Lord, H3068 the God H430 of hosts, H6635 shall be with you, as ye have spoken. H559 (QalPerf)

Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live, And it is so; Jehovah, God of Hosts, is with you, as ye said.

Therefore Yahweh, the God of Armies, the Lord, says: “Wailing will be in all the wide ways. They will say in all the streets, ‘Alas! Alas!’ They will call the farmer to mourning, and those who are skillful in lamentation to wailing.

Therefore the Lord, H3068 the God H430 of hosts, H6635 the Lord, H136 saith H559 (QalPerf) thus; Wailing H4553 [shall be] in all streets; H7339 and they shall say H559 (QalImpf) in all the highways, H2351 Alas! Therefore, thus said Jehovah, God of Hosts, the Lord, In all broad places is lamentation, And in all out-places they say, ‘Alas, alas,’ And called the husbandman to mourning, And to lamentation the skilful of wailing.

Therefore they will now go captive with the first who go captive. The feasting and lounging will end.

therefore thus said Jehovah: Thy wife in the city doth go a-whoring, And thy sons and thy daughters by sword do fall, And thy land by line is apportioned, And thou on an unclean land diest, And Israel certainly removeth from off its land.’

He prayed to Yahweh, and said, “Please, Yahweh, wasn’t this what I said when I was still in my own country? Therefore I hurried to flee to Tarshish, for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and you relent of doing harm.

and he prayeth unto Jehovah, and he saith, ‘I pray Thee, O Jehovah, is not this my word while I was in mine own land-therefore I was beforehand to flee to Tarshish-that I have known that Thou art a God, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in kindness, and repenting of evil?

Therefore you will give a parting gift to Moresheth Gath. The houses of Achzib will be a deceitful thing to the kings of Israel.

Therefore shalt thou give H5414 (QalImpf) presents H7964 to Moreshethgath: H4182 the houses H1004 of Achzib H392 [shall be] a lie H391 to the kings H4428 of Israel. H3478

Therefore thou givest presents to Moresheth-Gath, The houses of Achzib become a lying thing to the kings of Israel.

Therefore Yahweh says: “Behold, I am planning against these people a disaster, from which you will not remove your necks, neither will you walk haughtily, for it is an evil time.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Behold, against this family H4940 do I devise H2803 (QalActPtc) an evil, H7451 from which ye shall not remove H4185 (HiphImpf) your necks; H6677 neither shall ye go H3212 (QalImpf) haughtily: H7317 for this time H6256 [is] evil. H7451

Therefore, thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am devising against this family evil, From which ye do not remove your necks, Nor walk loftily, for a time of evil it is.

Therefore you will have no one who divides the land by lot in Yahweh’s assembly.

Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast H7993 (HiphPtc) a cord H2256 by lot H1486 in the congregation H6951 of the Lord. H3068

Therefore, thou hast no caster of a line by lot In the assembly of Jehovah.

“Therefore night is over you, with no vision, and it is dark to you, that you may not divine; and the sun will go down on the prophets, and the day will be black over them.

Therefore a night ye have without vision, And darkness ye have without divination, And gone in hath the sun on the prophets, And black over them hath been the day.

Therefore Zion for your sake will be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem will become heaps of rubble, and the mountain of the temple like the high places of a forest.

Therefore shall Zion H6726 for your sake H1558 be plowed H2790 (NiphImpf) [as] a field, H7704 and Jerusalem H3389 shall become heaps, H5856 and the mountain H2022 of the house H1004 as the high places H1116 of the forest. H3293

Therefore, for your sake, Zion is ploughed a field, and Jerusalem is heaps, And the mount of the house is for high places of a forest!

Therefore he will abandon them until the time that she who is in labor gives birth. Then the rest of his brothers will return to the children of Israel.

Therefore will he give them up, H5414 (QalImpf) until the time H6256 [that] she which travaileth H3205 (QalActPtc) hath brought forth: H3205 (QalPerf) then the remnant H3499 of his brethren H251 shall return H7725 (QalImpf) unto the children H1121 of Israel. H3478

Therefore he doth give them out till the time She who bringeth forth hath brought forth, And the remnant of his brethren return to the sons of Israel.

Yahweh says: “Though they are in full strength and likewise many, even so they will be cut down and pass away. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Though [they be] quiet, H8003 and likewise many, H7227 yet thus shall they be cut down, H1494 (NiphPerf) when he shall pass through. H5674 (QalPerf) Though I have afflicted H6031 (PielPerf) thee, I will afflict H6031 (PielImpf) thee no more.

Thus said Jehovah: Though complete, and thus many, Yet thus they have been cut off, And he hath passed away. And I afflicted thee, I afflict thee no more.

Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never prevails; for the wicked surround the righteous; therefore justice comes out perverted.

Therefore doth law cease, And judgment doth not go forth for ever, For the wicked is compassing the righteous, Therefore wrong judgment goeth forth.

He takes up all of them with the hook. He catches them in his net and gathers them in his dragnet. Therefore he rejoices and is glad.

Therefore he doth sacrifice to his net, And doth make perfume to his drag, For by them is his portion fertile, and his food fat.

Will he therefore continually empty his net, and kill the nations without mercy?

Shall they therefore empty H7324 (HiphImpf) their net, H2764 and not spare H2550 (QalImpf) continually H8548 to slay H2026 (QalInf) the nations? H1471

Doth he therefore empty his net, And continually to slay nations spare not?

Therefore, as I live, says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, surely Moab will be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, a possession of nettles and salt pits, and a perpetual desolation. The remnant of my people will plunder them, and the survivors of my nation will inherit them.

Therefore [as] I live, H2416 saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel, H3478 Surely Moab H4124 shall be as Sodom, H5467 and the children H1121 of Ammon H5983 as Gomorrah, H6017 [even] the breeding H4476 of nettles, H2738 and saltpits, H4379 H4417 and a perpetual H5704 H5769 desolation: H8077 the residue H7611 of my people H5971 shall spoil H962 (QalImpf) them, and the remnant H3499 of my people H1471 shall possess H5157 (QalImpf) them.

Therefore, I live, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Surely, Moab is as Sodom, And the sons of Ammon as Gomorrah, An overrunning of nettles and salt-pits, And a desolation-unto the age. A residue of My people do seize them, And a remnant of My nation inherit them.

“Therefore wait for me”, says Yahweh, “until the day that I rise up to the prey, for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms to pour on them my indignation, even all my fierce anger, for all the earth will be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

Therefore wait H2442 (PielImpv) ye upon me, saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord, H3068 until the day H3117 that I rise up H6965 (QalInf) to the prey: H5706 for my determination H4941 [is] to gather H622 (QalInf) the nations, H1471 that I may assemble H6908 (QalInf) the kingdoms, H4467 to pour H8210 (QalInf) upon them mine indignation, H2195 [even] all my fierce H2740 anger: H639 for all the earth H776 shall be devoured H398 (NiphImpf) with the fire H784 of my jealousy. Therefore, wait for Me-an affirmation of Jehovah, For the day of My rising for prey, For My judgment is to gather nations, To assemble kingdoms, To pour out on them Mine indignation, All the heat of Mine anger, For by the fire of My jealousy consumed is all the earth.

Therefore for your sake the heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit.

Therefore the heaven H8064 over you is stayed H3607 (QalPerf) from dew, H2919 and the earth H776 is stayed H3607 (QalPerf) [from] her fruit. H2981

Therefore, over you refrained have the heavens from dew, And the land hath refrained its increase.

Then Haggai answered, “ ‘So is this people, and so is this nation before me,’ says Yahweh; ‘and so is every work of their hands. That which they offer there is unclean.

And Haggai answereth and saith, ‘So is this people, and so is this nation before Me-an affirmation of Jehovah-and so is every work of their hands, and that which they bring near there-it is unclean.

But my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, didn’t they overtake your fathers? “Then they repented and said, ‘Just as Yahweh of Armies determined to do to us, according to our ways and according to our practices, so he has dealt with us.’ ”

Therefore Yahweh says: “I have returned to Jerusalem with mercy. My house shall be built in it,” says Yahweh of Armies, “and a line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.” ’

Therefore, thus said Jehovah: I have turned to Jerusalem with mercies, My house is built in it, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, And a line is stretched over Jerusalem.

It shall come to pass that, as you were a curse among the nations, house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you shall be a blessing. Don’t be afraid. Let your hands be strong.”

And it shall come to pass, [that] as ye were a curse H7045 among the heathen, H1471 O house H1004 of Judah, H3063 and house H1004 of Israel; H3478 so will I save H3467 (HiphImpf) you, and ye shall be a blessing: H1293 fear H3372 (QalImpf) not, [but] let your hands H3027 be strong. H2388 (QalImpf)

And it hath come to pass, As ye have been a reviling among nations, O house of Judah, and house of Israel, So I save you, and ye have been a blessing, Do not fear, let your hands be strong.

so again I have thought in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Don’t be afraid.

So again H7725 (QalPerf) have I thought H2161 (QalPerf) in these days H3117 to do well H3190 (HiphInf) unto Jerusalem H3389 and to the house H1004 of Judah: H3063 fear H3372 (QalImpf) ye not.

So I have turned back, I have purposed, in these days, To do good with Jerusalem, And with the house of Judah-fear not!

For the teraphim° have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie; and they have told false dreams. They comfort in vain. Therefore they go their way like sheep. They are oppressed, because there is no shepherd.

Zechariah 10:2 teraphim were household idols that may have been associated with inheritance rights to the household property.

Because the teraphim did speak iniquity, And the diviners have seen a falsehood, And dreams of the vanity they speak, With vanity they give comfort, Therefore they have journeyed as a flock, They are afflicted, for there is no shepherd.

So I fed the flock to be slaughtered, especially the oppressed of the flock. I took for myself two staffs. The one I called “Favor” and the other I called “Union”, and I fed the flock.

And I feed the flock of slaughter, even you, ye afflicted of the flock; and I take to me two staves, the one I have called Pleasantness, and the other I have called Bands, and I feed the flock.
