So all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet. They had slain Athaliah with the sword at the king’s house.

Jehoash said to the priests, “All the money of the holy things that is brought into Yahweh’s house, in current money, the money of the people for whom each man is evaluated,^† and all the money that it comes into any man’s heart to bring into Yahweh’s house,

But it was so, that in the twenty-third year of King Jehoash the priests had not repaired the damage to the house.

Then King Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and for the other priests, and said to them, “Why aren’t you repairing the damage to the house? Now therefore take no more money from your treasurers, but deliver it for repair of the damage to the house.”

The priests consented that they should take no more money from the people, and not repair the damage to the house.

And the priests H3548 consented H225 (NiphImpf) to receive H3947 (QalInf) no H1115 [more] money H3701 of the people, H5971 neither H1115 to repair H2388 (PielInf) the breaches H919 of the house. H1004

^[12:9] και συνεφωνησαν οι ιερεις του μη λαβειν αργυριον παρα του λαου και του μη ενισχυσαι το βεδεκ του οικου

But Jehoiada the priest took a chest and bored a hole in its lid, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one comes into Yahweh’s house; and the priests who kept the threshold put all the money that was brought into Yahweh’s house into it.

But Jehoiada H3077 the priest H3548 took H3947 (QalImpf) a H259 chest, H727 and bored H5344 (QalImpf) a hole H2356 in the lid H1817 of it, and set H5414 (QalImpf) it beside H681 the altar, H4196 on the right side H3225 as one H376 cometh H935 (QalInf) into the house H1004 of the Lord: H3068 and the priests H3548 that kept H8104 (QalActPtc) the door H5592 put H5414 (QalPerf) therein all the money H3701 [that was] brought H935 (HophPtc) into the house H1004 of the Lord. When they saw that there was much money in the chest, the king’s scribe and the high priest came up, and they put it in bags and counted the money that was found in Yahweh’s house.

They gave the money that was weighed out into the hands of those who did the work, who had the oversight of Yahweh’s house; and they paid it out to the carpenters and the builders who worked on Yahweh’s house,

^[12:12] και εδωκαν το αργυριον το ετοιμασθεν επι χειρας ποιουντων τα εργα των επισκοπων οικου κυριου και εξεδοσαν τοις τεκτοσιν των ξυλων και τοις οικοδομοις τοις ποιουσιν εν οικω κυριου

and to the masons and the stone cutters, and for buying timber and cut stone to repair the damage to Yahweh’s house, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.

And to masons, H1443 (QalActPtc) and hewers H2672 (QalActPtc) of stone, H68 and to buy H7069 (QalInf) timber H6086 and hewed H4274 stone H68 to repair H2388 (PielInf) the breaches H919 of the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and for all that was laid out H3318 (QalImpf) for the house H1004 to repair H2394 [it].

^[12:13] και τοις τειχισταις και τοις λατομοις των λιθων του κτησασθαι ξυλα και λιθους λατομητους του κατασχειν το βεδεκ οικου κυριου εις παντα οσα εξωδιασθη επι τον οικον του κραταιωσαι

But there were not made for Yahweh’s house cups of silver, snuffers, basins, trumpets, any vessels of gold or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into Yahweh’s house;

Howbeit there were not made H6213 (NiphImpf) for the house H1004 of the Lord H3068 bowls H5592 of silver, H3701 snuffers, H4212 basons, H4219 trumpets, H2689 any vessels H3627 of gold, H2091 or vessels H3627 of silver, H3701 of the money H3701 [that was] brought H935 (HophPtc) into the house H1004 of the Lord: H3068

^[12:14] πλην ου ποιηθησεται οικω κυριου θυραι αργυραι ηλοι φιαλαι και σαλπιγγες παν σκευος χρυσουν και σκευος αργυρουν εκ του αργυριου του εισενεχθεντος εν οικω κυριου

for they gave that to those who did the work, and repaired Yahweh’s house with it.

But they gave H5414 (QalImpf) that to the workmen, H4399 H6213 (QalActPtc) and repaired H2388 (PielPerf) therewith the house H1004 of the Lord. H3068

The money for the trespass offerings and the money for the sin offerings was not brought into Yahweh’s house. It was the priests’.

Yahweh struck the king, so that he was a leper to the day of his death, and lived in a separate house. Jotham, the king’s son, was over the household, judging the people of the land.

The bronze altar, which was before Yahweh, he brought from the front of the house, from between his altar and Yahweh’s house, and put it on the north side of his altar.

However every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they lived.

So they feared Yahweh, and also made from among themselves priests of the high places for themselves, who sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.

When they had called to the king, Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebnah the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder came out to them.

When King Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and went into Yahweh’s house.

He sent Eliakim, who was over the household, Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.

Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it. Then Hezekiah went up to Yahweh’s house, and spread it before Yahweh.
