He said, “Now also let it be according to your words. He with whom it is found will be my slave; and you will be blameless.”

Then Judah came near to him, and said, “Oh, my lord, please let your servant speak a word in my lord’s ears, and don’t let your anger burn against your servant; for you are even as Pharaoh.

When we came up to your servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.

εγενετο δε ηνικα ανεβημεν προς τον παιδα σου πατερα δε ημων απηγγειλαμεν αυτω τα ρηματα του κυριου

They told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said to them. When he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob, their father, revived.

but when I sleep with my fathers, you shall carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their burying place.” Joseph said, “I will do as you have said.”

After these things, someone said to Joseph, “Behold, your father is sick.” He took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.

The king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said to them, “Why have you done this thing and saved the boys alive?”

εκαλεσεν δε ο βασιλευς αιγυπτου τας μαιας και ειπεν αυταις τι οτι εποιησατε το πραγμα τουτο και εζωογονειτε τα αρσενα

He said, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you plan to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian?” Moses was afraid, and said, “Surely this thing is known.”

Exodus 2:14 Heb. A man a Prince

ο δε ειπεν τις σε κατεστησεν αρχοντα και δικαστην εφ ημων μη ανελειν με συ θελεις ον τροπον ανειλες εχθες τον αιγυπτιον εφοβηθη δε μωυσης και ειπεν ει ουτως εμφανες γεγονεν το ρημα τουτο

Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and lived in the land of Midian, and he sat down by a well.

ηκουσεν δε φαραω το ρημα τουτο και εζητει ανελειν μωυσην ανεχωρησεν δε μωυσης απο προσωπου φαραω και ωκησεν εν γη μαδιαμ ελθων δε εις γην μαδιαμ εκαθισεν επι του φρεατος

Moses said to Yahweh, “O Lord,^§ I am not eloquent, neither before now, nor since you have spoken to your servant; for I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.”

Exodus 4:10 The word translated “Lord” is “Adonai”.

Moses told Aaron all Yahweh’s words with which he had sent him, and all the signs with which he had instructed him.

Aaron spoke all the words which Yahweh had spoken to Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.

Let heavier work be laid on the men, that they may labor in it. Don’t let them pay any attention to lying words.”

The taskmasters were urgent saying, “Fulfill your work quota daily, as when there was straw!”

Exodus 5:13 Heb. a matter of a day in his day

οι δε εργοδιωκται κατεσπευδον αυτους λεγοντες συντελειτε τα εργα τα καθηκοντα καθ ημεραν καθαπερ και οτε το αχυρον εδιδοτο υμιν

The officers of the children of Israel saw that they were in trouble when it was said, “You shall not diminish anything from your daily quota of bricks!”

εωρων δε οι γραμματεις των υιων ισραηλ εαυτους εν κακοις λεγοντες ουκ απολειψετε της πλινθειας το καθηκον τη ημερα

Pharaoh said, “Tomorrow.” Moses said, “Let it be according to your word, that you may know that there is no one like Yahweh our God.

Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh, and Moses cried to Yahweh concerning the frogs which he had brought on Pharaoh.

Yahweh did according to the word of Moses, and he removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people. There remained not one.

Yahweh will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt; and nothing shall die of all that belongs to the children of Israel.”’”

και παραδοξασω εγω εν τω καιρω εκεινω ανα μεσον των κτηνων των αιγυπτιων και ανα μεσον των κτηνων των υιων ισραηλ ου τελευτησει απο παντων των του ισραηλ υιων ρητον

Yahweh appointed a set time, saying, “Tomorrow Yahweh shall do this thing in the land.”

Yahweh did that thing on the next day; and all the livestock of Egypt died, but of the livestock of the children of Israel, not one died.

Those who feared Yahweh’s word among the servants of Pharaoh made their servants and their livestock flee into the houses.

ο φοβουμενος το ρημα κυριου των θεραποντων φαραω συνηγαγεν τα κτηνη αυτου εις τους οικους

Whoever didn’t respect Yahweh’s word left his servants and his livestock in the field.

Exodus 9:21 Heb. set not his heart unto

ος δε μη προσεσχεν τη διανοια εις το ρημα κυριου αφηκεν τα κτηνη εν τοις πεδιοις

You shall observe this thing for an ordinance to you and to your sons forever.

Isn’t this the word that we spoke to you in Egypt, saying, ‘Leave us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.”

Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from the sky for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law or not.

Exodus 16:4 Heb. the portion of a day in his day

ειπεν δε κυριος προς μωυσην ιδου εγω υω υμιν αρτους εκ του ουρανου και εξελευσεται ο λαος και συλλεξουσιν το της ημερας εις ημεραν οπως πειρασω αυτους ει πορευσονται τω νομω μου η ου

This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded: ‘Gather of it everyone according to his eating; an omer° a head, according to the number of your persons, you shall take it, every man for those who are in his tent.’”

Exodus 16:16 An omer is about 2.2 liters or about 2.3 quarts

Now I know that Yahweh is greater than all gods because of the way that they treated people arrogantly.”

When Moses’ father-in-law saw all that he did to the people, he said, “What is this thing that you do for the people? Why do you sit alone, and all the people stand around you from morning to evening?”

When they have a matter, they come to me, and I judge between a man and his neighbor, and I make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.”

Exodus 18:16 Heb. a man and his fellow

οταν γαρ γενηται αυτοις αντιλογια και ελθωσι προς με διακρινω εκαστον και συμβιβαζω αυτους τα προσταγματα του θεου και τον νομον αυτου

Moses’ father-in-law said to him, “The thing that you do is not good.

ειπεν δε ο γαμβρος μωυση προς αυτον ουκ ορθως συ ποιεις το ρημα τουτο

You will surely wear away, both you, and this people that is with you; for the thing is too heavy for you. You are not able to perform it yourself alone.

Exodus 18:18 Heb. Fading thou wilt fade

φθορα καταφθαρηση ανυπομονητω και συ και πας ο λαος ουτος ος εστιν μετα σου βαρυ σοι το ρημα τουτο ου δυνηση ποιειν μονος

Listen now to my voice. I will give you counsel, and God be with you. You represent the people before God, and bring the causes to God.

νυν ουν ακουσον μου και συμβουλευσω σοι και εσται ο θεος μετα σου γινου συ τω λαω τα προς τον θεον και ανοισεις τους λογους αυτων προς τον θεον

Let them judge the people at all times. It shall be that every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they shall judge themselves. So shall it be easier for you, and they shall share the load with you.

και κρινουσιν τον λαον πασαν ωραν το δε ρημα το υπερογκον ανοισουσιν επι σε τα δε βραχεα των κριματων κρινουσιν αυτοι και κουφιουσιν απο σου και συναντιλημψονται σοι

If you will do this thing, and God commands you so, then you will be able to endure, and all these people also will go to their place in peace.”

If thou shalt do H6213 (QalImpf) this thing, H1697 and God H430 command H6680 (PielPerf) thee so, then thou shalt be able H3201 (QalPerf) to endure, H5975 (QalInf) and all this people H5971 shall also go H935 (QalImpf) to their place H4725 in peace. H7965

εαν το ρημα τουτο ποιησης κατισχυσει σε ο θεος και δυνηση παραστηναι και πας ο λαος ουτος εις τον εαυτου τοπον μετ ειρηνης ηξει

They judged the people at all times. They brought the hard cases to Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.

And they judged H8199 (QalPerf) the people H5971 at all seasons: H6256 the hard H7186 causes H1697 they brought H935 (HiphImpf) unto Moses, H4872 but every small H6996 matter H1697 H1992 they judged H8199 (QalImpf) themselves.

και εκρινοσαν τον λαον πασαν ωραν παν δε ρημα υπερογκον ανεφεροσαν επι μωυσην παν δε ρημα ελαφρον εκρινοσαν αυτοι

and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

υμεις δε εσεσθε μοι βασιλειον ιερατευμα και εθνος αγιον ταυτα τα ρηματα ερεις τοις υιοις ισραηλ

Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and set before them all these words which Yahweh commanded him.

And Moses H4872 came H935 (QalImpf) and called H7121 (QalImpf) for the elders H2205 of the people, H5971 and laid H7760 (QalImpf) before their faces H6440 all these words H1697 which the Lord H3068 commanded H6680 (PielPerf) him.

ηλθεν δε μωυσης και εκαλεσεν τους πρεσβυτερους του λαου και παρεθηκεν αυτοις παντας τους λογους τουτους ους συνεταξεν αυτω ο θεος

All the people answered together, and said, “All that Yahweh has spoken we will do.” Moses reported the words of the people to Yahweh.

απεκριθη δε πας ο λαος ομοθυμαδον και ειπαν παντα οσα ειπεν ο θεος ποιησομεν και ακουσομεθα ανηνεγκεν δε μωυσης τους λογους του λαου προς τον θεον

Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, I come to you in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and may also believe you forever.” Moses told the words of the people to Yahweh.

And the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Moses, H4872 Lo, I come H935 (QalActPtc) unto thee in a thick H5645 cloud, H6051 that the people H5971 may hear H8085 (QalImpf) when I speak H1696 (PielInf) with thee, and believe H539 (HiphImpf) thee for ever. ειπεν δε κυριος προς μωυσην ιδου εγω παραγινομαι προς σε εν στυλω νεφελης ινα ακουση ο λαος λαλουντος μου προς σε και σοι πιστευσωσιν εις τον αιωνα ανηγγειλεν δε μωυσης τα ρηματα του λαου προς κυριον

“Keep far from a false charge, and don’t kill the innocent and righteous; for I will not justify the wicked.

απο παντος ρηματος αδικου αποστηση αθωον και δικαιον ουκ αποκτενεις και ου δικαιωσεις τον ασεβη ενεκεν δωρων
