Yahweh’s anger burned against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines and into the hand of the children of Ammon.

και ειπεν ιεφθαε προς τους πρεσβυτερους γαλααδ ει επιστρεφετε με υμεις πολεμησαι εν τοις υιοις αμμων και παραδω κυριος αυτους ενωπιον εμου εγω υμιν εσομαι εις κεφαλην

Jephthah sent messengers to the king of the children of Ammon, saying, “What do you have to do with me, that you have come to me to fight against my land?”

And Jephthah H3316 sent H7971 (QalImpf) messengers H4397 unto the king H4428 of the children H1121 of Ammon, H5983 saying, H559 (QalInf) What hast thou to do with me, that thou art come H935 (QalPerf) against me to fight H3898 (NiphInf) in my land? H776

και απεστειλεν ιεφθαε αγγελους προς βασιλεα υιων αμμων λεγων τι εμοι και σοι οτι ηκεις προς με συ πολεμησαι με εν τη γη μου

The king of the children of Ammon answered the messengers of Jephthah, “Because Israel took away my land when he came up out of Egypt, from the Arnon even to the Jabbok, and to the Jordan. Now therefore restore that territory again peaceably.”

And the king H4428 of the children H1121 of Ammon H5983 answered H559 (QalImpf) unto the messengers H4397 of Jephthah, H3316 Because Israel H3478 took away H3947 (QalPerf) my land, H776 when they came up H5927 (QalInf) out of Egypt, H4714 from Arnon H769 even unto Jabbok, H2999 and unto Jordan: H3383 now therefore restore those lands again H7725 (HiphImpv) peaceably. H7965

και ειπεν βασιλευς υιων αμμων προς τους αγγελους ιεφθαε διοτι ελαβεν ισραηλ την γην μου εν τη αναβασει αυτου εξ αιγυπτου απο αρνων εως ιαβοκ και εως του ιορδανου και νυν επιστρεψον αυτας μετ ειρηνης

Jephthah sent messengers again to the king of the children of Ammon;

And Jephthah H3316 sent H7971 (QalImpf) messengers H4397 again H3254 (HiphImpf) unto the king H4428 of the children H1121 of Ammon: H5983

και απεστρεψαν οι αγγελοι προς ιεφθαε και απεστειλεν ιεφθαε αγγελους προς τον βασιλεα υιων αμμων

and he said to him, “Jephthah says: Israel didn’t take away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon;

and said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) Jephthah, H3316 Israel H3478 took not away H3947 (QalPerf) the land H776 of Moab, H4124 nor the land H776 of the children H1121 of Ammon: H5983

λεγων ταδε λεγει ιεφθαε ουκ ελαβεν ισραηλ την γην μωαβ και την γην υιων αμμων

Now are you anything better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab? Did he ever strive against Israel, or did he ever fight against them?

And now art thou any thing better H2896 than Balak H1111 the son H1121 of Zippor, H6834 king H4428 of Moab? H4124 did he ever H7378 (QalInf) strive H7378 (QalPerf) against Israel, H3478 or did he ever H3898 (NiphInf) fight H3898 (NiphPerf) against them,

και νυν μη κρεισσων ει συ του βαλακ υιου σεπφωρ βασιλεως μωαβ μη μαχη εμαχεσατο μετα ισραηλ η πολεμων επολεμησεν αυτοις

Therefore I have not sinned against you, but you do me wrong to war against me. May Yahweh the Judge be judge today between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.”

Wherefore I have not sinned H2398 (QalPerf) against thee, but thou doest H6213 (QalActPtc) H853 me wrong H7451 to war H3898 (NiphInf) against me: the Lord H3068 the Judge H8199 (QalActPtc) be judge H8199 (QalImpf) this day H3117 between the children H1121 of Israel H3478 and the children H1121 of Ammon. H5983

και εγω ουχ ημαρτον σοι και συ ποιεις μετ εμου πονηριαν του πολεμησαι εν εμοι κριναι κυριος ο κρινων σημερον ανα μεσον υιων ισραηλ και ανα μεσον υιων αμμων

However, the king of the children of Ammon didn’t listen to the words of Jephthah which he sent him.

Howbeit the king H4428 of the children H1121 of Ammon H5983 hearkened H8085 (QalPerf) not unto the words H1697 of Jephthah H3316 which he sent H7971 (QalPerf) him.

και ουκ εισηκουσεν βασιλευς υιων αμμων και ουκ εισηκουσεν των λογων ιεφθαε ων απεστειλεν προς αυτον

Then Yahweh’s Spirit came on Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpah of Gilead, and from Mizpah of Gilead he passed over to the children of Ammon.

Then the Spirit H7307 of the Lord H3068 came upon Jephthah, H3316 and he passed over H5674 (QalImpf) Gilead, H1568 and Manasseh, H4519 and passed over H5674 (QalImpf) Mizpeh H4708 of Gilead, H1568 and from Mizpeh H4708 of Gilead H1568 he passed over H5674 (QalPerf) unto the children H1121 of Ammon. H5983

και εγενηθη επι ιεφθαε πνευμα κυριου και διεβη την γην γαλααδ και τον μανασση και διεβη την σκοπιαν γαλααδ και απο σκοπιας γαλααδ εις το περαν υιων αμμων

Jephthah vowed a vow to Yahweh, and said, “If you will indeed deliver the children of Ammon into my hand,

And Jephthah H3316 vowed H5087 (QalImpf) a vow H5088 unto the Lord, H3068 and said, H559 (QalImpf) If thou shalt without fail H5414 (QalInf) deliver H5414 (QalImpf) the children H1121 of Ammon H5983 into mine hands, H3027

και ηυξατο ιεφθαε ευχην τω κυριω και ειπεν εαν παραδωσει παραδως μοι τους υιους αμμων εν χειρι μου

then it shall be, that whatever comes out of the doors of my house to meet me when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, it shall be Yahweh’s, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.”

then it shall be, that whatsoever H3318 (QalActPtc) cometh forth^§ H3318 (QalImpf) of the doors H1817 of my house H1004 to meet H7125 (QalInf) me, when I return H7725 (QalInf) in peace H7965 from the children H1121 of Ammon, H5983 shall surely be the Lord’s, H3068 and I will offer it^§ up H5927 (HiphPerf) for a burnt offering. H5930

και εσται ος αν εξελθη εκ των θυρων του οικου μου εις απαντησιν μου εν τω επιστρεψαι με εν ειρηνη απο των υιων αμμων και εσται τω κυριω και ανοισω αυτον ολοκαυτωμα

So Jephthah passed over to the children of Ammon to fight against them; and Yahweh delivered them into his hand.

So Jephthah H3316 passed over H5674 (QalImpf) unto the children H1121 of Ammon H5983 to fight H3898 (NiphInf) against them; and the Lord H3068 delivered H5414 (QalImpf) them into his hands. H3027

και διεβη ιεφθαε προς τους υιους αμμων του πολεμησαι προς αυτους και παρεδωκεν αυτους κυριος εν χειρι αυτου

He struck them from Aroer until you come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and to Abelcheramim, with a very great slaughter. So the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.

And he smote H5221 (HiphImpf) them from Aroer, H6177 even till thou come H935 (QalInf) to Minnith, H4511 even twenty H6242 cities, H5892 and unto the plain^§ H58 of the vineyards, H3754 (QK) H64 with a very H3966 great H1419 slaughter. H4347 Thus the children H1121 of Ammon H5983 were subdued H3665 (NiphImpf) before H6440 the children H1121 of Israel. H3478

Judges 11:33 Or, Abel

και επαταξεν αυτους απο αροηρ και εως του ελθειν εις σεμωιθ εικοσι πολεις εως αβελ αμπελωνων πληγην μεγαλην σφοδρα και ενετραπησαν οι υιοι αμμων απο προσωπου υιων ισραηλ

Jephthah came to Mizpah to his house; and behold, his daughter came out to meet him with tambourines and with dances. She was his only child. Besides her he had neither son nor daughter.

And Jephthah H3316 came H935 (QalImpf) to Mizpeh H4709 unto his house, H1004 and, behold, his daughter H1323 came out H3318 (QalActPtc) to meet H7125 (QalInf) him with timbrels H8596 and with dances: H4246 and she was his only child; H3173 beside her he had neither son H1121 nor H176 daughter.^§ H1323
