“Look, Yahweh; for I am in distress. My heart is troubled. My heart turns over within me, for I have grievously rebelled. Abroad, the sword bereaves. At home, it is like death.

ιδε κυριε οτι θλιβομαι η κοιλια μου εταραχθη και η καρδια μου εστραφη εν εμοι οτι παραπικραινουσα παρεπικρανα εξωθεν ητεκνωσεν με μαχαιρα ωσπερ θανατος εν οικω

The Lord has cast off his altar. He has abhorred his sanctuary. He has given the walls of her palaces into the hand of the enemy. They have made a noise in Yahweh’s house, as in the day of a solemn assembly.

και ειδον ως οψιν ηλεκτρου απο ορασεως οσφυος και επανω και απο ορασεως οσφυος και εως κατω ειδον ως ορασιν πυρος και το φεγγος αυτου κυκλω

They, whether they will hear, or whether they will refuse—for they are a rebellious house—yet they will know that there has been a prophet among them.

εαν αρα ακουσωσιν η πτοηθωσιν διοτι οικος παραπικραινων εστιν και γνωσονται οτι προφητης ει συ εν μεσω αυτων

You, son of man, don’t be afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you, and you dwell among scorpions. Don’t be afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house.

But you, son of man, hear what I tell you. Don’t be rebellious like that rebellious house. Open your mouth, and eat that which I give you.”

He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find. Eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.”

He said to me, “Son of man, go to the house of Israel, and speak my words to them.

For you are not sent to a people of a strange speech and of a hard language, but to the house of Israel—

διοτι ου προς λαον βαθυχειλον και βαρυγλωσσον συ εξαποστελλη προς τον οικον του ισραηλ

But the house of Israel will not listen to you, for they will not listen to me; for all the house of Israel are obstinate^§ and hard-hearted.

“Son of man, I have made you a watchman to the house of Israel. Therefore hear the word from my mouth, and warn them from me.

Then the Spirit entered into me and set me on my feet. He spoke with me, and said to me, “Go, shut yourself inside your house.

I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so that you will be mute and will not be able to correct them, for they are a rebellious house.

But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you shall tell them, ‘This is what the Lord Yahweh says.’ He who hears, let him hear; and he who refuses, let him refuse; for they are a rebellious house.”

και εν τω λαλειν με προς σε ανοιξω το στομα σου και ερεις προς αυτους ταδε λεγει κυριος ο ακουων ακουετω και ο απειθων απειθειτω διοτι οικος παραπικραινων εστιν

Take for yourself an iron pan and set it for a wall of iron between you and the city. Then set your face toward it. It will be besieged, and you shall lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel.

και συ λαβε σεαυτω τηγανον σιδηρουν και θησεις αυτο τοιχον σιδηρουν ανα μεσον σου και ανα μεσον της πολεως και ετοιμασεις το προσωπον σου επ αυτην και εσται εν συγκλεισμω και συγκλεισεις αυτην σημειον εστιν τουτο τοις υιοις ισραηλ

“Moreover lie on your left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel on it. According to the number of the days that you shall lie on it, you shall bear their iniquity.

For I have appointed the years of their iniquity to be to you a number of days, even three hundred ninety days. So you shall bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.

“Again, when you have accomplished these, you shall lie on your right side, and shall bear the iniquity of the house of Judah. I have appointed forty days, each day for a year, to you.

και συντελεσεις ταυτα παντα και κοιμηθηση επι το πλευρον σου το δεξιον και λημψη τας αδικιας του οικου ιουδα τεσσαρακοντα ημερας ημεραν εις ενιαυτον τεθεικα σοι

Of these again you shall take, and cast them into the middle of the fire, and burn them in the fire. From it a fire will come out into all the house of Israel.

και εκ τουτων λημψη ετι και ριψεις αυτους εις μεσον του πυρος και κατακαυσεις αυτους εν πυρι εξ αυτης εξελευσεται πυρ και ερεις παντι οικω ισραηλ

“The Lord Yahweh says: ‘Strike with your hand, and stamp with your foot, and say, “Alas!”, because of all the evil abominations of the house of Israel; for they will fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence.

ταδε λεγει κυριος κροτησον τη χειρι και ψοφησον τω ποδι και ειπον ευγε ευγε επι πασιν τοις βδελυγμασιν οικου ισραηλ εν ρομφαια και εν θανατω και εν λιμω πεσουνται

“ ‘The sword is outside, and the pestilence and the famine within. He who is in the field will die by the sword. He who is in the city will be devoured by famine and pestilence.

Therefore I will bring the worst of the nations, and they will possess their houses. I will also make the pride of the strong to cease. Their holy places will be profaned.

In the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, the Lord Yahweh’s hand fell on me there.

και εγενετο εν τω εκτω ετει εν τω πεμπτω μηνι πεμπτη του μηνος εγω εκαθημην εν τω οικω και οι πρεσβυτεροι ιουδα εκαθηντο ενωπιον μου και εγενετο επ εμε χειρ κυριου

He said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they do? Even the great abominations that the house of Israel commit here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? But you will again see yet other great abominations.”

He said H559 (QalImpf) furthermore unto me, Son H1121 of man, H120 seest H7200 (QalActPtc) thou what they do? H6213 (QalActPtc) [even] the great H1419 abominations H8441 that the house H1004 of Israel H3478 committeth H6213 (QalActPtc) here, that I should go far off H7368 (QalInf) from my sanctuary? H4720 but turn H7725 (QalImpf) thee yet again, [and] thou shalt see H7200 (QalImpf) greater H1419 abominations. H8441

και ειπεν προς με υιε ανθρωπου εωρακας τι ουτοι ποιουσιν ανομιας μεγαλας ποιουσιν ωδε του απεχεσθαι απο των αγιων μου και ετι οψει ανομιας μειζονας

So I went in and looked, and saw every form of creeping things, abominable animals, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed around on the wall.

So I went in H935 (QalImpf) and saw; H7200 (QalImpf) and behold every form H8403 of creeping things, H7431 and abominable H8263 beasts, H929 and all the idols H1544 of the house H1004 of Israel, H3478 pourtrayed H2707 (PualPtc) upon the wall H7023 round about. H5439

και εισηλθον και ειδον και ιδου ματαια βδελυγματα και παντα τα ειδωλα οικου ισραηλ διαγεγραμμενα επ αυτου κυκλω

Seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel stood before them. In the middle of them Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan stood, every man with his censer in his hand; and the smell of the cloud of incense went up.

και εβδομηκοντα ανδρες εκ των πρεσβυτερων οικου ισραηλ και ιεζονιας ο του σαφαν εν μεσω αυτων ειστηκει προ προσωπου αυτων και εκαστος θυμιατηριον αυτου ειχεν εν τη χειρι και η ατμις του θυμιαματος ανεβαινεν

Then he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in his rooms of imagery? For they say, ‘Yahweh doesn’t see us. Yahweh has forsaken the land.’ ”

Then he brought me to the door of the gate of Yahweh’s house which was toward the north; and I saw the women sit there weeping for Tammuz.

και εισηγαγεν με εις την αυλην οικου κυριου την εσωτεραν και ιδου επι των προθυρων του ναου κυριου ανα μεσον των αιλαμ και ανα μεσον του θυσιαστηριου ως εικοσι ανδρες τα οπισθια αυτων προς τον ναον του κυριου και τα προσωπα αυτων απεναντι και ουτοι προσκυνουσιν τω ηλιω

Then he said to me, “Have you seen this, son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence, and have turned again to provoke me to anger. Behold, they put the branch to their nose.

Kill utterly the old man, the young man, the virgin, little children and women; but don’t come near any man on whom is the mark. Begin at my sanctuary.” Then they began at the old men who were before the house.

Slay H2026 (QalImpf) utterly H4889 old H2205 [and] young, H970 both maids, H1330 and little children, H2945 and women: H802 but come not near H5066 (QalImpf) any man H376 upon whom [is] the mark; H8420 and begin H2490 (HiphImpf) at my sanctuary. H4720 Then they began H2490 (HiphImpf) at the ancient H2205 men H582 which [were] before H6440 the house. H1004

πρεσβυτερον και νεανισκον και παρθενον και νηπια και γυναικας αποκτεινατε εις εξαλειψιν επι δε παντας εφ ους εστιν το σημειον μη εγγισητε και απο των αγιων μου αρξασθε και ηρξαντο απο των ανδρων των πρεσβυτερων οι ησαν εσω εν τω οικω

He said to them, “Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain. Go out!” They went out, and struck in the city.

και ειπεν προς αυτους μιανατε τον οικον και πλησατε τας οδους νεκρων εκπορευομενοι και κοπτετε

Then he said to me, “The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perversion; for they say, ‘Yahweh has forsaken the land, and Yahweh doesn’t see.’

Then said H559 (QalImpf) he unto me, The iniquity H5771 of the house H1004 of Israel H3478 and Judah H3063 [is] exceeding H3966 H3966 great, H1419 and the land H776 is full H4390 (NiphImpf) of blood, H1818 and the city H5892 full H4390 (QalPerf) of perverseness: H4297 for they say, H559 (QalPerf) The Lord H3068 hath forsaken H5800 (QalPerf) the earth, H776 and the Lord H3068 seeth H7200 (QalActPtc) not.

και ειπεν προς με αδικια του οικου ισραηλ και ιουδα μεμεγαλυνται σφοδρα σφοδρα οτι επλησθη η γη λαων πολλων και η πολις επλησθη αδικιας και ακαθαρσιας οτι ειπαν εγκαταλελοιπεν κυριος την γην ουκ εφορα ο κυριος

Now the cherubim stood on the right side of the house when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court.

Now the cherubims H3742 stood H5975 (QalActPtc) on the right side H3225 of the house, H1004 when the man H376 went in; H935 (QalInf) and the cloud H6051 filled H4390 (QalPerf) the inner H6442 court. H2691

και τα χερουβιν ειστηκει εκ δεξιων του οικου εν τω εισπορευεσθαι τον ανδρα και η νεφελη επλησεν την αυλην την εσωτεραν

Yahweh’s glory mounted up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of Yahweh’s glory.

Then the glory H3519 of the Lord H3068 went up H7311 (QalImpf) from the cherub, H3742 [and stood] over the threshold H4670 of the house; H1004 and the house H1004 was filled H4390 (NiphImpf) with the cloud, H6051 and the court H2691 was full H4390 (QalPerf) of the brightness H5051 of the Lord’s H3068 glory. και απηρεν η δοξα κυριου απο των χερουβιν εις το αιθριον του οικου και επλησεν τον οικον η νεφελη και η αυλη επλησθη του φεγγους της δοξης κυριου

Yahweh’s glory went out from over the threshold of the house and stood over the cherubim.

Then the glory H3519 of the Lord H3068 departed H3318 (QalImpf) from off the threshold H4670 of the house, H1004 and stood H5975 (QalImpf) over the cherubims. H3742

και εξηλθεν δοξα κυριου απο του οικου και επεβη επι τα χερουβιν

The cherubim lifted up their wings and mounted up from the earth in my sight when they went out, with the wheels beside them. Then they stood at the door of the east gate of Yahweh’s house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.

And the cherubims H3742 lifted up H5375 (QalImpf) their wings, H3671 and mounted up H7426 (NiphImpf) from the earth H776 in my sight: H5869 when they went out, H3318 (QalInf) the wheels H212 also [were] beside H5980 them, and [every one] stood H5975 (QalImpf) at the door H6607 of the east H6931 gate H8179 of the Lord’s H3068 house; H1004 and the glory H3519 of the God H430 of Israel H3478 [was] over them above. και ανελαβον τα χερουβιν τας πτερυγας αυτων και εμετεωρισθησαν απο της γης ενωπιον εμου εν τω εξελθειν αυτα και οι τροχοι εχομενοι αυτων και εστησαν επι τα προθυρα της πυλης οικου κυριου της απεναντι και δοξα θεου ισραηλ ην επ αυτων υπερανω

Moreover the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of Yahweh’s house, which looks eastward. Behold, twenty-five men were at the door of the gate; and I saw among them Jaazaniah the son of Azzur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.

Moreover the spirit H7307 lifted me up, H5375 (QalImpf) and brought H935 (HiphImpf) me unto the east H6931 gate H8179 of the Lord’s H3068 house, H1004 which looketh H6437 (QalActPtc) eastward: H6921 and behold at the door H6607 of the gate H8179 five H2568 and twenty H6242 men; H376 among H8432 whom I saw H7200 (QalImpf) Jaazaniah H2970 the son H1121 of Azur, H5809 and Pelatiah H6410 the son H1121 of Benaiah, H1141 princes H8269 of the people. H5971

και ανελαβεν με πνευμα και ηγαγεν με επι την πυλην του οικου κυριου την κατεναντι την βλεπουσαν κατα ανατολας και ιδου επι των προθυρων της πυλης ως εικοσι και πεντε ανδρες και ειδον εν μεσω αυτων τον ιεζονιαν τον του εζερ και φαλτιαν τον του βαναιου τους αφηγουμενους του λαου

who say, ‘The time is not near to build houses. This is the cauldron, and we are the meat.’

Which say, H559 (QalActPtc) [It is] not near; H7138 let us build H1129 (QalInf) houses: H1004 this [city is] the caldron, H5518 and we [be] the flesh. H1320

οι λεγοντες ουχι προσφατως ωκοδομηνται αι οικιαι αυτη εστιν ο λεβης ημεις δε τα κρεα

Yahweh’s Spirit fell on me, and he said to me, “Speak, ‘Yahweh says: “Thus you have said, house of Israel; for I know the things that come into your mind.

And the Spirit H7307 of the Lord H3068 fell H5307 (QalImpf) upon me, and said H559 (QalImpf) unto me, Speak; H559 (QalImpv) Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Thus have ye said, H559 (QalImpf) O house H1004 of Israel: H3478 for I know H3045 (QalPerf) the things that come H4609 into your mind, H7307 [every one of] them.

και επεσεν επ εμε πνευμα κυριου και ειπεν προς με λεγε ταδε λεγει κυριος ουτως ειπατε οικος ισραηλ και τα διαβουλια του πνευματος υμων εγω επισταμαι

“Son of man, your brothers, even your brothers, the men of your relatives, and all the house of Israel, all of them, are the ones to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, ‘Go far away from Yahweh. This land has been given to us for a possession.’

Son H1121 of man, H120 thy brethren, H251 [even] thy brethren, H251 the men H582 of thy kindred, H1353 and all the house H1004 of Israel H3478 wholly, [are] they unto whom the inhabitants H3427 (QalActPtc) of Jerusalem H3389 have said, H559 (QalPerf) Get you far H7368 (QalImpv) from the Lord: H3068 unto us is this land H776 given H5414 (NiphPerf) in possession. υιε ανθρωπου οι αδελφοι σου και οι ανδρες της αιχμαλωσιας σου και πας ο οικος του ισραηλ συντετελεσται οις ειπαν αυτοις οι κατοικουντες ιερουσαλημ μακραν απεχετε απο του κυριου ημιν δεδοται η γη εις κληρονομιαν

“Son of man, you dwell in the middle of the rebellious house, who have eyes to see, and don’t see, who have ears to hear, and don’t hear; for they are a rebellious house.

Son H1121 of man, H120 thou dwellest H3427 (QalActPtc) in the midst H8432 of a rebellious H4805 house, H1004 which have eyes H5869 to see, H7200 (QalInf) and see H7200 (QalPerf) not; they have ears H241 to hear, H8085 (QalInf) and hear H8085 (QalPerf) not: for they [are] a rebellious H4805 house. H1004

υιε ανθρωπου εν μεσω των αδικιων αυτων συ κατοικεις οι εχουσιν οφθαλμους του βλεπειν και ου βλεπουσιν και ωτα εχουσιν του ακουειν και ουκ ακουουσιν διοτι οικος παραπικραινων εστιν

“Therefore, you son of man, prepare your baggage for moving, and move by day in their sight. You shall move from your place to another place in their sight. It may be they will consider, though they are a rebellious house.

Therefore, thou son H1121 of man, H120 prepare H6213 (QalImpv) thee stuff H3627 for removing, H1473 and remove H1540 (QalImpv) by day H3119 in their sight; H5869 and thou shalt remove H1540 (QalPerf) from thy place H4725 to another H312 place H4725 in their sight: H5869 it may be they will consider, H7200 (QalImpf) though they [be] a rebellious H4805 house. H1004

και συ υιε ανθρωπου ποιησον σεαυτω σκευη αιχμαλωσιας ημερας ενωπιον αυτων και αιχμαλωτευθηση εκ του τοπου σου εις ετερον τοπον ενωπιον αυτων οπως ιδωσιν διοτι οικος παραπικραινων εστιν

In their sight you shall bear it on your shoulder, and carry it out in the dark. You shall cover your face, so that you don’t see the land, for I have set you for a sign to the house of Israel.”

ενωπιον αυτων επ ωμων αναλημφθηση και κεκρυμμενος εξελευση το προσωπον σου συγκαλυψεις και ου μη ιδης την γην διοτι τερας δεδωκα σε τω οικω ισραηλ

“Son of man, hasn’t the house of Israel, the rebellious house, said to you, ‘What are you doing?’

υιε ανθρωπου ουκ ειπαν προς σε ο οικος του ισραηλ οικος ο παραπικραινων τι συ ποιεις

“Say to them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “This burden concerns the prince in Jerusalem, and all the house of Israel among whom they are.” ’

Say H559 (QalImpv) thou unto them, Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 This burden H4853 [concerneth] the prince H5387 in Jerusalem, H3389 and all the house H1004 of Israel H3478 that [are] among H8432 them.
