Also Judah didn’t keep the commandments of Yahweh their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.

So it was, at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they didn’t fear Yahweh. Therefore Yahweh sent lions among them, which killed some of them.

with whom Yahweh had made a covenant and commanded them, saying, “You shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them;

και διεθετο κυριος μετ αυτων διαθηκην και ενετειλατο αυτοις λεγων ου φοβηθησεσθε θεους ετερους και ου προσκυνησετε αυτοις και ου λατρευσετε αυτοις και ου θυσιασετε αυτοις

The statutes and the ordinances, and the law and the commandment which he wrote for you, you shall observe to do forever more. You shall not fear other gods.

You shall not forget the covenant that I have made with you. You shall not fear other gods.

However they didn’t listen, but they did what they did before.

He trusted in Yahweh, the God of Israel, so that after him was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among them that were before him.

For he joined with Yahweh. He didn’t depart from following him, but kept his commandments, which Yahweh commanded Moses.

Yahweh was with him. Wherever he went, he prospered. He rebelled against the king of Assyria, and didn’t serve him.

But if you tell me, ‘We trust in Yahweh our God,’ isn’t that he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away, and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, ‘You shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem’?

2 Kings 18:27 Heb. the water of their feet?

και ειπεν προς αυτους ραψακης μη επι τον κυριον σου και προς σε απεστειλεν με ο κυριος μου λαλησαι τους λογους τουτους ουχι επι τους ανδρας τους καθημενους επι του τειχους του φαγειν την κοπρον αυτων και πιειν το ουρον αυτων μεθ υμων αμα

The king says, ‘Don’t let Hezekiah deceive you, for he will not be able to deliver you out of his hand.

ταδε λεγει ο βασιλευς μη επαιρετω υμας εζεκιας λογοις οτι ου μη δυνηται υμας εξελεσθαι εκ χειρος μου

Don’t let Hezekiah make you trust in Yahweh, saying, “Yahweh will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”

neither let Hezekiah H2396 make you trust H982 (HiphImpf) in the Lord, H3068 saying, H559 (QalInf) The Lord H3068 will surely H5337 (HiphInf) deliver H5337 (HiphImpf) us, and this city H5892 shall not be delivered H5414 (NiphImpf) into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Assyria. H804

και μη επελπιζετω υμας εζεκιας προς κυριον λεγων εξαιρουμενος εξελειται ημας κυριος ου μη παραδοθη η πολις αυτη εν χειρι βασιλεως ασσυριων

until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive trees and of honey, that you may live and not die. Don’t listen to Hezekiah when he persuades you, saying, “Yahweh will deliver us.”

2 Kings 18:32 Or, deceiveth

εως ελθω και λαβω υμας εις γην ως γη υμων γη σιτου και οινου και αρτου και αμπελωνων γη ελαιας ελαιου και μελιτος και ζησετε και ου μη αποθανητε και μη ακουετε εζεκιου οτι απατα υμας λεγων κυριος ρυσεται ημας

But the people stayed quiet, and answered him not a word; for the king’s commandment was, “Don’t answer him.”

και εκωφευσαν και ουκ απεκριθησαν αυτω λογον οτι εντολη του βασιλεως λεγων ουκ αποκριθησεσθε αυτω

“Tell Hezekiah king of Judah this: ‘Don’t let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, Jerusalem will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

μη επαιρετω σε ο θεος σου εφ ω συ πεποιθας επ αυτω λεγων ου μη παραδοθη ιερουσαλημ εις χειρας βασιλεως ασσυριων

and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone. Therefore they have destroyed them.

και εδωκαν τους θεους αυτων εις το πυρ οτι ου θεοι εισιν αλλ η εργα χειρων ανθρωπων ξυλα και λιθοι και απωλεσαν αυτους

Haven’t you heard how I have done it long ago, and formed it of ancient times? Now I have brought it to pass, that it should be yours to lay waste fortified cities into ruinous heaps.

2 Kings 19:25 Or, Hast thou not heard how I have made it long ago, and formed it of ancient times? Should I now bring it to be laid waist, and fenced cities to be ruinous heaps?

επλασα αυτην νυν ηγαγον αυτην και εγενηθη εις επαρσεις αποικεσιων μαχιμων πολεις οχυρας

“Therefore Yahweh says concerning the king of Assyria, ‘He will not come to this city, nor shoot an arrow there. He will not come before it with shield, nor cast up a mound against it.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 concerning the king H4428 of Assyria, H804 He shall not come H935 (QalImpf) into this city, H5892 nor shoot H3384 (HiphImpf) an arrow H2671 there, nor come before H6923 (PielImpf) it with shield, H4043 nor cast H8210 (QalImpf) a bank H5550 against it.

ουχ ουτως ταδε λεγει κυριος προς βασιλεα ασσυριων ουκ εισελευσεται εις την πολιν ταυτην και ου τοξευσει εκει βελος και ου προφθασει αυτην θυρεος και ου μη εκχεη προς αυτην προσχωμα

He will return the same way that he came, and he will not come to this city,’ says Yahweh.

τη οδω η ηλθεν εν αυτη αποστραφησεται και εις την πολιν ταυτην ουκ εισελευσεται λεγει κυριος

In those days Hezekiah was sick and dying. Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him, “Yahweh says, ‘Set your house in order; for you will die, and not live.’ ”

εν ταις ημεραις εκειναις ηρρωστησεν εζεκιας εις θανατον και εισηλθεν προς αυτον ησαιας υιος αμως ο προφητης και ειπεν προς αυτον ταδε λεγει κυριος εντειλαι τω οικω σου οτι αποθνησκεις συ και ου ζηση

Before Isaiah had gone out into the middle part of the city, Yahweh’s word came to him, saying,
