^[49:15] δια τουτο ακουσατε λογον κυριου ουτως ειπεν κυριος εαν υμεις δωτε το προσωπον υμων εις αιγυπτον και εισελθητε εκει κατοικειν

So will it be with all the men who set their faces to go into Egypt to live there. They will die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence. None of them will remain or escape from the evil that I will bring on them.’

So shall it be with all the men H582 that set H7760 (QalPerf) their faces H6440 to go H935 (QalInf) into Egypt H4714 to sojourn H1481 (QalInf) there; they shall die H4191 (QalImpf) by the sword, H2719 by the famine, H7458 and by the pestilence: H1698 and none of them shall remain H8300 or escape H6412 from H6440 the evil H7451 that I will bring H935 (HiphPtc) upon them.

^[49:17] και εσονται παντες οι ανθρωποι και παντες οι αλλογενεις οι θεντες το προσωπον αυτων εις γην αιγυπτου ενοικειν εκει εκλειψουσιν εν τη ρομφαια και εν τω λιμω και ουκ εσται αυτων ουθεις σωζομενος απο των κακων ων εγω επαγω επ αυτους

For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘As my anger and my wrath has been poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so my wrath will be poured out on you, when you enter into Egypt; and you will be an object of horror, an astonishment, a curse, and a reproach; and you will see this place no more.’

For thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 As mine anger H639 and my fury H2534 hath been poured forth H5413 (NiphPerf) upon the inhabitants H3427 (QalActPtc) of Jerusalem; H3389 so shall my fury H2534 be poured forth H5413 (QalImpf) upon you, when ye shall enter H935 (QalInf) into Egypt: H4714 and ye shall be an execration, H423 and an astonishment, H8047 and a curse, H7045 and a reproach; H2781 and ye shall see H7200 (QalImpf) this place H4725 no more.

“Yahweh has spoken concerning you, remnant of Judah, ‘Don’t go into Egypt!’ Know certainly that I have testified to you today.

^[49:19] α ελαλησεν κυριος εφ υμας τους καταλοιπους ιουδα μη εισελθητε εις αιγυπτον και νυν γνοντες γνωσεσθε

Now therefore know certainly that you will die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence in the place where you desire to go to live.”

^[50:2] και ειπεν αζαριας υιος μαασαιου και ιωαναν υιος καρηε και παντες οι ανδρες οι ειπαντες τω ιερεμια λεγοντες ψευδη ουκ απεστειλεν σε κυριος προς ημας λεγων μη εισελθητε εις αιγυπτον οικειν εκει

They came into the land of Egypt, for they didn’t obey Yahweh’s voice; and they came to Tahpanhes.

^[50:7] και εισηλθον εις αιγυπτον οτι ουκ ηκουσαν της φωνης κυριου και εισηλθον εις ταφνας

He will come, and will strike the land of Egypt; such as are for death will be put to death, and such as are for captivity to captivity, and such as are for the sword to the sword.

^[50:11] και εισελευσεται και παταξει γην αιγυπτου ους εις θανατον εις θανατον και ους εις αποικισμον εις αποικισμον και ους εις ρομφαιαν εις ρομφαιαν

“Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘You have seen all the evil that I have brought on Jerusalem, and on all the cities of Judah. Behold, today they are a desolation, and no man dwells in them,

^[51:2] ουτως ειπεν κυριος ο θεος ισραηλ υμεις εωρακατε παντα τα κακα α επηγαγον επι ιερουσαλημ και επι τας πολεις ιουδα και ιδου εισιν ερημοι απο ενοικων

in that you provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt where you have gone to live, that you may be cut off, and that you may be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?

In that ye provoke me unto wrath H3707 (HiphInf) with the works H4639 of your hands, H3027 burning incense H6999 (PielInf) unto other H312 gods H430 in the land H776 of Egypt, H4714 whither ye be gone H935 (QalActPtc) to dwell, H1481 (QalInf) that ye might cut yourselves off, H3772 (HiphInf) and that ye might be a curse H7045 and a reproach H2781 among all the nations H1471 of the earth? ^[51:8] παραπικραναι με εν τοις εργοις των χειρων υμων θυμιαν θεοις ετεροις εν γη αιγυπτω εις ην εισηλθατε ενοικειν εκει ινα εκκοπητε και ινα γενησθε εις καταραν και εις ονειδισμον εν πασιν τοις εθνεσιν της γης

I will take the remnant of Judah that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to live there, and they will all be consumed. They will fall in the land of Egypt. They will be consumed by the sword and by the famine. They will die, from the least even to the greatest, by the sword and by the famine. They will be an object of horror, an astonishment, a curse, and a reproach.

And I will take H3947 (QalPerf) the remnant H7611 of Judah, H3063 that have set H7760 (QalPerf) their faces H6440 to go H935 (QalInf) into the land H776 of Egypt H4714 to sojourn H1481 (QalInf) there, and they shall all be consumed, H8552 (QalPerf) [and] fall H5307 (QalImpf) in the land H776 of Egypt; H4714 they shall [even] be consumed H8552 (NiphImpf) by the sword H2719 [and] by the famine: H7458 they shall die, H4191 (QalImpf) from the least H6996 even unto the greatest, H1419 by the sword H2719 and by the famine: H7458 and they shall be an execration, H423 [and] an astonishment, H8047 and a curse, H7045 and a reproach. so that none of the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, will escape or be left to return into the land of Judah, to which they have a desire to return to dwell there; for no one will return except those who will escape.’ ”

So that none of the remnant H7611 of Judah, H3063 which are gone H935 (QalActPtc) into the land H776 of Egypt H4714 to sojourn H1481 (QalInf) there, shall escape H6412 or remain, H8300 that they should return H7725 (QalInf) into the land H776 of Judah, H3063 to the which they have H5375 (PielPtc) a desire H5315 to return H7725 (QalInf) to dwell H3427 (QalInf) there: for none shall return H7725 (QalImpf) but such as shall escape. ^[51:14] και ουκ εσται σεσωσμενος ουθεις των επιλοιπων ιουδα των παροικουντων εν γη αιγυπτω του επιστρεψαι εις γην ιουδα εφ ην αυτοι ελπιζουσιν ταις ψυχαις αυτων του επιστρεψαι εκει ου μη επιστρεψωσιν αλλ η ανασεσωσμενοι

Those who escape the sword will return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah few in number. All the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, will know whose word will stand, mine or theirs.

Do you seek great things for yourself? Don’t seek them; for, behold, I will bring evil on all flesh,’ says Yahweh, ‘but I will let you escape with your life wherever you go.’ ”

The word that Yahweh spoke to Jeremiah the prophet, how that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon should come and strike the land of Egypt:

“As I live,” says the King, whose name is Yahweh of Armies, “surely like Tabor among the mountains, and like Carmel by the sea, so he will come.

^[26:18] ζω εγω λεγει κυριος ο θεος οτι ως το ιταβυριον εν τοις ορεσιν και ως ο καρμηλος εν τη θαλασση ηξει

“Egypt is a very beautiful heifer; but destruction out of the north has come. It has come.

Also her hired men in the middle of her are like calves of the stall, for they also are turned back. They have fled away together. They didn’t stand, for the day of their calamity has come on them, the time of their visitation.

^[26:21] και οι μισθωτοι αυτης εν αυτη ωσπερ μοσχοι σιτευτοι τρεφομενοι εν αυτη διοτι και αυτοι απεστραφησαν και εφυγον ομοθυμαδον ουκ εστησαν οτι ημερα απωλειας ηλθεν επ αυτους και καιρος εκδικησεως αυτων

Its sound will go like the serpent, for they will march with an army, and come against her with axes, as wood cutters.

^[26:22] φωνη ως οφεως συριζοντος οτι εν αμμω πορευσονται εν αξιναις ηξουσιν επ αυτην ως κοπτοντες ξυλα

because of the day that comes to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains; for Yahweh will destroy the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.

Because of the day H3117 that cometh H935 (QalActPtc) to spoil H7703 (QalInf) all the Philistines, H6430 [and] to cut off H3772 (HiphInf) from Tyrus H6865 and Zidon H6721 every helper H5826 (QalActPtc) that remaineth: H8300 for the Lord H3068 will spoil H7703 (QalActPtc) the Philistines, H6430 the remnant H7611 of the country H339 of Caphtor. Baldness has come on Gaza; Ashkelon is brought to nothing. You remnant of their valley, how long will you cut yourself?

^[29:5] ηκει φαλακρωμα επι γαζαν απερριφη ασκαλων και οι καταλοιποι ενακιμ εως τινος κοψεις

The destroyer will come on every city, and no city will escape; the valley also will perish, and the plain will be destroyed, as Yahweh has spoken.

And the spoiler H7703 (QalActPtc) shall come H935 (QalImpf) upon every city, H5892 and no city H5892 shall escape: H4422 (NiphImpf) the valley H6010 also shall perish, H6 (QalPerf) and the plain H4334 shall be destroyed, H8045 (NiphPerf) as the Lord H3068 hath spoken. H559 (QalPerf)

^[31:8] και ηξει ολεθρος επι πασαν πολιν και πολις ου μη σωθη και απολειται ο αυλων και εξολεθρευθησεται η πεδινη καθως ειπεν κυριος

Therefore behold, the days come,” says Yahweh, “that I will send to him those who pour off, and they will pour him off; and they will empty his vessels, and break their containers in pieces.

“The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hurries fast.

“He who flees from the terror will fall into the pit; and he who gets up out of the pit will be taken in the snare, for I will bring on him, even on Moab, the year of their visitation,” says Yahweh.

Therefore behold, the days come,” says Yahweh, “that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and it will become a desolate heap, and her daughters will be burned with fire; then Israel will possess those who possessed him,” says Yahweh.

Why do you boast in the valleys, your flowing valley, backsliding daughter? You trusted in her treasures, saying, ‘Who will come to me?’

^[30:20] τι αγαλλιαση εν τοις πεδιοις ενακιμ θυγατερ ιταμιας η πεποιθυια επι θησαυροις αυτης η λεγουσα τις εισελευσεται επ εμε

Behold, I will bring a terror on you,” says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, “from all who are around you. All of you will be driven completely out, and there will be no one to gather together the fugitives.

Behold, I will bring H935 (HiphPtc) a fear H6343 upon thee, saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord H136 God H3069 of hosts, H6635 from all those that be about H5439 thee; and ye shall be driven out H5080 (NiphPerf) every man H376 right forth; H6440 and none shall gather up H6908 (PielPtc) him that wandereth. ^[30:21] ιδου εγω φερω φοβον επι σε ειπεν κυριος απο πασης της περιοικου σου και διασπαρησεσθε εκαστος εις προσωπον αυτου και ουκ εσται ο συναγων

Flee! Turn back! Dwell in the depths, inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau on him when I visit him.

^[30:2] ηπατηθη ο τοπος αυτων βαθυνατε εις καθισιν οι κατοικουντες εν δαιδαν οτι δυσκολα εποιησεν ηγαγον επ αυτον εν χρονω ω επεσκεψαμην επ αυτον

If grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? If thieves came by night, wouldn’t they steal until they had enough?

If grapegatherers H1219 (QalActPtc) come H935 (QalPerf) to thee, would they not leave H7604 (HiphImpf) [some] gleaning grapes? H5955 if thieves H1590 by night, H3915 they will destroy H7843 (HiphPerf) till they have enough. H1767

^[30:3] οτι τρυγηται ηλθον σοι ου καταλειψουσιν σοι καταλειμματα ως κλεπται εν νυκτι επιθησουσιν χειρα αυτων

I have heard news from Yahweh, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, “Gather yourselves together! Come against her! Rise up to the battle!”

I have heard H8085 (QalPerf) a rumour H8052 from the Lord, H3068 and an ambassador H6735 is sent H7971 (QalPasPtc) unto the heathen, H1471 [saying], Gather ye together, H6908 (HithImpv) and come H935 (QalImpv) against her, and rise up H6965 (QalImpv) to the battle. H4421

^[30:8] ακοην ηκουσα παρα κυριου και αγγελους εις εθνη απεστειλεν συναχθητε και παραγενεσθε εις αυτην αναστητε εις πολεμον

Their camels will be a booty, and the multitude of their livestock a plunder. I will scatter to all winds those who have the corners of their beards cut off; and I will bring their calamity from every side of them,” says Yahweh.

I will bring on Elam the four winds from the four quarters of the sky, and will scatter them toward all those winds. There will be no nation where the outcasts of Elam will not come.

I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before those who seek their life. I will bring evil on them, even my fierce anger,’ says Yahweh; ‘and I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them.

“In those days, and in that time,” says Yahweh, “the children of Israel will come, they and the children of Judah together; they will go on their way weeping, and will seek Yahweh their God.

They will inquire concerning Zion with their faces turned toward it, saying, ‘Come, and join yourselves to Yahweh in an everlasting covenant that will not be forgotten.’

Come against her from the farthest border. Open her storehouses. Cast her up as heaps. Destroy her utterly. Let nothing of her be left.

^[27:26] οτι εληλυθασιν οι καιροι αυτης ανοιξατε τας αποθηκας αυτης ερευνησατε αυτην ως σπηλαιον και εξολεθρευσατε αυτην μη γενεσθω αυτης καταλειμμα

Kill all her bulls. Let them go down to the slaughter. Woe to them! For their day has come, the time of their visitation.

^[27:27] αναξηρανατε αυτης παντας τους καρπους και καταβητωσαν εις σφαγην ουαι αυτοις οτι ηκει η ημερα αυτων και καιρος εκδικησεως αυτων

“Behold, I am against you, you proud one,” says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies; “for your day has come, the time that I will visit you.

“Behold, a people comes from the north. A great nation and many kings will be stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.

‘Yahweh has produced our righteousness. Come, and let’s declare in Zion the work of Yahweh our God.’

For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel says: “The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor at the time when it is trodden. Yet a little while, and the time of harvest comes for her.”

Don’t let your heart faint. Don’t fear for the news that will be heard in the land. For news will come one year, and after that in another year news will come, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.

Therefore behold, the days come that I will execute judgment on the engraved images of Babylon; and her whole land will be confounded. All her slain will fall in the middle of her.

Therefore, behold, the days H3117 come, H935 (QalActPtc) that I will do judgment H6485 (QalPerf) upon the graven images H6456 of Babylon: H894 and her whole land H776 shall be confounded, H954 (QalImpf) and all her slain H2491 shall fall H5307 (QalImpf) in the midst H8432 of her.

Then the heavens and the earth, and all that is therein, will sing for joy over Babylon; for the destroyers will come to her from the north,” says Yahweh.

“Therefore behold, the days come,” says Yahweh, “that I will execute judgment on her engraved images; and through all her land the wounded will groan.

Though Babylon should mount up to the sky, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet destroyers will come to her from me,” says Yahweh.
