I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that you will soon utterly perish from off the land which you go over the Jordan to possess it. You will not prolong your days on it, but will utterly be destroyed.

διαμαρτυρομαι υμιν σημερον τον τε ουρανον και την γην οτι απωλεια απολεισθε απο της γης εις ην υμεις διαβαινετε τον ιορδανην εκει κληρονομησαι αυτην ουχι πολυχρονιειτε ημερας επ αυτης αλλ η εκτριβη εκτριβησεσθε

But from there you shall seek Yahweh your God, and you will find him when you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul.

But if from thence thou shalt seek H1245 (PielPerf) the Lord H3068 thy God, H430 thou shalt find H4672 (QalPerf) him, if thou seek H1875 (QalImpf) him with all thy heart H3824 and with all thy soul. H5315

και ζητησετε εκει κυριον τον θεον υμων και ευρησετε οταν εκζητησητε αυτον εξ ολης της καρδιας σου και εξ ολης της ψυχης σου εν τη θλιψει σου

For Yahweh your God is a merciful God. He will not fail you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which he swore to them.

(for the Lord H3068 thy God H430 is a merciful H7349 God;) H410 he will not forsake H7503 (HiphImpf) thee, neither destroy H7843 (HiphImpf) thee, nor forget H7911 (QalImpf) the covenant H1285 of thy fathers H1 which he sware H7650 (NiphPerf) unto them.

οτι θεος οικτιρμων κυριος ο θεος σου ουκ εγκαταλειψει σε ουδε μη εκτριψει σε ουκ επιλησεται την διαθηκην των πατερων σου ην ωμοσεν αυτοις

For ask now of the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and from the one end of the sky to the other, whether there has been anything as great as this thing is, or has been heard like it?

For ask H7592 (QalImpv) now of the days H3117 that are past, H7223 which were H1961 (NiphPerf) before H6440 thee, since the day H3117 that God H430 created H1254 (QalPerf) man H120 upon the earth, H776 and ask from the one side H7097 of heaven H8064 unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great H1419 thing H1697 is, or hath been heard H8085 (NiphPerf) like it?

επερωτησατε ημερας προτερας τας γενομενας προτερας σου απο της ημερας ης εκτισεν ο θεος ανθρωπον επι της γης και επι το ακρον του ουρανου εως ακρου του ουρανου ει γεγονεν κατα το ρημα το μεγα τουτο ει ηκουσται τοιουτο

It was shown to you so that you might know that Yahweh is God. There is no one else besides him.

Because he loved your fathers, therefore he chose their offspring after them, and brought you out with his presence, with his great power, out of Egypt;

Know therefore today, and take it to heart, that Yahweh himself is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath. There is no one else.

και γνωση σημερον και επιστραφηση τη διανοια οτι κυριος ο θεος σου ουτος θεος εν τω ουρανω ανω και επι της γης κατω και ουκ εστιν ετι πλην αυτου

Yahweh didn’t make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive today.

The Lord H3068 made H3772 (QalPerf) not this covenant H1285 with our fathers, H1 but with us, H587 even us, who are all of us H428 here alive H2416 this day. H3117

καγω ειστηκειν ανα μεσον κυριου και υμων εν τω καιρω εκεινω αναγγειλαι υμιν τα ρηματα κυριου οτι εφοβηθητε απο προσωπου του πυρος και ουκ ανεβητε εις το ορος λεγων

You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me

“You shall not misuse the name of Yahweh your God;^§ for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless who misuses his name.

Deuteronomy 5:11 or, You shall not take the name of Yahweh your God in vain;

You shall remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and Yahweh your God brought you out of there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm. Therefore Yahweh your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.

and you said, “Behold, Yahweh our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the middle of the fire. We have seen today that God does speak with man, and he lives.

και ελεγετε ιδου εδειξεν ημιν κυριος ο θεος ημων την δοξαν αυτου και την φωνην αυτου ηκουσαμεν εκ μεσου του πυρος εν τη ημερα ταυτη ειδομεν οτι λαλησει ο θεος προς ανθρωπον και ζησεται

Now therefore, why should we die? For this great fire will consume us. If we hear Yahweh our God’s voice any more, then we shall die.

Deuteronomy 5:25 Heb. add to hear

και νυν μη αποθανωμεν οτι εξαναλωσει ημας το πυρ το μεγα τουτο εαν προσθωμεθα ημεις ακουσαι την φωνην κυριου του θεου ημων ετι και αποθανουμεθα

It shall be, when Yahweh your God brings you into the land which he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you, great and goodly cities which you didn’t build,

οτι θεος ζηλωτης κυριος ο θεος σου εν σοι μη οργισθεις θυμωθη κυριος ο θεος σου εν σοι και εξολεθρευση σε απο προσωπου της γης

When your son asks you in time to come, saying, “What do the testimonies, the statutes, and the ordinances, which Yahweh our God has commanded you mean?”

And when thy son H1121 asketh H7592 (QalImpf) thee in time to come,^§ H4279 saying, H559 (QalInf) What mean the testimonies, H5713 and the statutes, H2706 and the judgments, H4941 which the Lord H3068 our God H430 hath commanded H6680 (PielPerf) you?

Deuteronomy 6:20 Heb. tomorrow

και εσται οταν ερωτηση σε ο υιος σου αυριον λεγων τι εστιν τα μαρτυρια και τα δικαιωματα και τα κριματα οσα ενετειλατο κυριος ο θεος ημων ημιν

It shall be righteousness to us, if we observe to do all these commandments before Yahweh our God, as he has commanded us.”

When Yahweh your God brings you into the land where you go to possess it, and casts out many nations before you—the Hittite, the Girgashite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite—seven nations greater and mightier than you;

For that would turn away your sons from following me, that they may serve other gods. So Yahweh’s anger would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly.

αλλ ουτως ποιησετε αυτοις τους βωμους αυτων καθελειτε και τας στηλας αυτων συντριψετε και τα αλση αυτων εκκοψετε και τα γλυπτα των θεων αυτων κατακαυσετε πυρι

For you are a holy people to Yahweh your God. Yahweh your God has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples who are on the face of the earth.

Yahweh didn’t set his love on you nor choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all peoples;

ουχ οτι πολυπληθειτε παρα παντα τα εθνη προειλατο κυριος υμας και εξελεξατο υμας υμεις γαρ εστε ολιγοστοι παρα παντα τα εθνη

but because Yahweh loves you, and because he desires to keep the oath which he swore to your fathers, Yahweh has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

Know therefore that Yahweh your God himself is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness to a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commandments,

και γνωση οτι κυριος ο θεος σου ουτος θεος θεος πιστος ο φυλασσων διαθηκην και ελεος τοις αγαπωσιν αυτον και τοις φυλασσουσιν τας εντολας αυτου εις χιλιας γενεας

You shall consume all the peoples whom Yahweh your God shall deliver to you. Your eye shall not pity them. You shall not serve their gods; for that would be a snare to you.

If you shall say in your heart, “These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?”

If thou shalt say H559 (QalImpf) in thine heart, H3824 These nations H1471 are more H7227 than I; how H349 can H3201 (QalImpf) I dispossess H3423 (HiphInf) them?

εαν δε λεγης εν τη διανοια σου οτι πολυ το εθνος τουτο η εγω πως δυνησομαι εξολεθρευσαι αυτους

You shall not be scared of them; for Yahweh your God is among you, a great and awesome God.

Thou shalt not be affrighted H6206 (QalImpf) at H6440 them: for the Lord H3068 thy God H430 is among H7130 you, a mighty H1419 God H410 and terrible. H3372 (NiphPtc)

ου τρωθηση απο προσωπου αυτων οτι κυριος ο θεος σου εν σοι θεος μεγας και κραταιος

You shall burn the engraved images of their gods with fire. You shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it for yourself, lest you be snared in it; for it is an abomination to Yahweh your God.

τα γλυπτα των θεων αυτων κατακαυσετε πυρι ουκ επιθυμησεις αργυριον ουδε χρυσιον απ αυτων και ου λημψη σεαυτω μη πταισης δι αυτο οτι βδελυγμα κυριω τω θεω σου εστιν

You shall not bring an abomination into your house and become a devoted thing like it. You shall utterly detest it. You shall utterly abhor it; for it is a devoted thing.

Neither shalt thou bring H935 (HiphImpf) an abomination H8441 into thine house, H1004 lest thou be a cursed thing H2764 like it: but thou shalt utterly H8262 (PielInf) detest H8262 (PielImpf) it, and thou shalt utterly H8581 (PielInf) abhor H8581 (PielImpf) it; for it is a cursed thing. H2764

και ουκ εισοισεις βδελυγμα εις τον οικον σου και εση αναθημα ωσπερ τουτο προσοχθισματι προσοχθιεις και βδελυγματι βδελυξη οτι αναθημα εστιν

He humbled you, allowed you to be hungry, and fed you with manna, which you didn’t know, neither did your fathers know, that he might teach you that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of Yahweh’s mouth.

και εκακωσεν σε και ελιμαγχονησεν σε και εψωμισεν σε το μαννα ο ουκ ειδησαν οι πατερες σου ινα αναγγειλη σοι οτι ουκ επ αρτω μονω ζησεται ο ανθρωπος αλλ επι παντι ρηματι τω εκπορευομενω δια στοματος θεου ζησεται ο ανθρωπος

You shall consider in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so Yahweh your God disciplines you.

Thou shalt also consider H3045 (QalPerf) in H5973 thine heart, H3824 that, as a man H376 chasteneth H3256 (PielImpf) his son, H1121 so the Lord H3068 thy God H430 chasteneth H3256 (PielPtc) thee.

και γνωση τη καρδια σου οτι ως ει τις παιδευσαι ανθρωπος τον υιον αυτου ουτως κυριος ο θεος σου παιδευσει σε

For Yahweh your God brings you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of springs, and underground water flowing into valleys and hills;

For the Lord H3068 thy God H430 bringeth H935 (HiphPtc) thee into a good H2896 land, H776 a land H776 of brooks H5158 of water, H4325 of fountains H5869 and depths H8415 that spring out H3318 (QalActPtc) of valleys H1237 and hills; H2022

ο γαρ κυριος ο θεος σου εισαγει σε εις γην αγαθην και πολλην ου χειμαρροι υδατων και πηγαι αβυσσων εκπορευομεναι δια των πεδιων και δια των ορεων

But you shall remember Yahweh your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as it is today.

But thou shalt remember H2142 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 thy God: H430 for it is he that giveth H5414 (QalActPtc) thee power H3581 to get H6213 (QalInf) wealth, H2428 that he may establish H6965 (HiphInf) his covenant H1285 which he sware H7650 (NiphPerf) unto thy fathers, H1 as it is this day. και μνησθηση κυριου του θεου σου οτι αυτος σοι διδωσιν ισχυν του ποιησαι δυναμιν και ινα στηση την διαθηκην αυτου ην ωμοσεν κυριος τοις πατρασιν σου ως σημερον

It shall be, if you shall forget Yahweh your God, and walk after other gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you today that you shall surely perish.

And it shall be, if thou do at all H7911 (QalInf) forget H7911 (QalImpf) the Lord H3068 thy God, H430 and walk H1980 (QalPerf) after H310 other H312 gods, H430 and serve H5647 (QalPerf) them, and worship H7812 (HithPerf) them, I testify H5749 (HiphPerf) against you this day H3117 that ye shall surely H6 (QalInf) perish. και εσται εαν ληθη επιλαθη κυριου του θεου σου και πορευθης οπισω θεων ετερων και λατρευσης αυτοις και προσκυνησης αυτοις διαμαρτυρομαι υμιν σημερον τον τε ουρανον και την γην οτι απωλεια απολεισθε

Know therefore today that Yahweh your God is he who goes over before you as a devouring fire. He will destroy them and he will bring them down before you. So you shall drive them out and make them perish quickly, as Yahweh has spoken to you.

Understand H3045 (QalPerf) therefore this day, H3117 that the Lord H3068 thy God H430 is he which goeth over H5674 (QalActPtc) before H6440 thee; as a consuming H398 (QalActPtc) fire H784 he shall destroy H8045 (HiphImpf) them, and he shall bring them down H3665 (HiphImpf) before thy face: H6440 so shalt thou drive them out, H3423 (HiphPerf) and destroy H6 (HiphPerf) them quickly, H4118 as the Lord H3068 hath said H1696 (PielPerf) unto thee.

και γνωση σημερον οτι κυριος ο θεος σου ουτος προπορευεται προ προσωπου σου πυρ καταναλισκον εστιν ουτος εξολεθρευσει αυτους και ουτος αποστρεψει αυτους απο προσωπου σου και απολεις αυτους καθαπερ ειπεν σοι κυριος

Not for your righteousness or for the uprightness of your heart do you go in to possess their land; but for the wickedness of these nations Yahweh your God does drive them out from before you, and that he may establish the word which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

Not for thy righteousness, H6666 or for the uprightness H3476 of thine heart, H3824 dost thou go H935 (QalActPtc) to possess H3423 (QalInf) their land: H776 but for the wickedness H7564 of these nations H1471 the Lord H3068 thy God H430 doth drive them out H3423 (HiphPtc) from before H6440 thee, and that he may perform H6965 (HiphInf) the word H1697 which the Lord H3068 sware H7650 (NiphPerf) unto thy fathers, H1 Abraham, H85 Isaac, H3327 and Jacob. ουχι δια την δικαιοσυνην σου ουδε δια την οσιοτητα της καρδιας σου συ εισπορευη κληρονομησαι την γην αυτων αλλα δια την ασεβειαν των εθνων τουτων κυριος εξολεθρευσει αυτους απο προσωπου σου και ινα στηση την διαθηκην αυτου ην ωμοσεν τοις πατρασιν υμων τω αβρααμ και τω ισαακ και τω ιακωβ

Know therefore that Yahweh your God doesn’t give you this good land to possess for your righteousness, for you are a stiff-necked people.

Understand H3045 (QalPerf) therefore, that the Lord H3068 thy God H430 giveth H5414 (QalActPtc) thee not this good H2896 land H776 to possess H3423 (QalInf) it for thy righteousness; H6666 for thou art a stiffnecked H6203 H7186 people. H5971

και γνωση σημερον οτι ουχι δια τας δικαιοσυνας σου κυριος ο θεος σου διδωσιν σοι την γην την αγαθην ταυτην κληρονομησαι οτι λαος σκληροτραχηλος ει

Yahweh said to me, “Arise, get down quickly from here; for your people whom you have brought out of Egypt have corrupted themselves. They have quickly turned away from the way which I commanded them. They have made a molten image for themselves!”

And the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto me, Arise, H6965 (QalImpv) get thee down H3381 (QalImpv) quickly H4118 from hence; for thy people H5971 which thou hast brought forth H3318 (HiphPerf) out of Egypt H4714 have corrupted H7843 (PielPerf) themselves; they are quickly H4118 turned aside H5493 (QalPerf) out of the way H1870 which I commanded H6680 (PielPerf) them; they have made H6213 (QalPerf) them a molten image. και ειπεν κυριος προς με αναστηθι καταβηθι το ταχος εντευθεν οτι ηνομησεν ο λαος σου ους εξηγαγες εκ γης αιγυπτου παρεβησαν ταχυ εκ της οδου ης ενετειλω αυτοις εποιησαν εαυτοις χωνευμα

For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure with which Yahweh was angry against you to destroy you. But Yahweh listened to me that time also.

και εκφοβος ειμι δια την οργην και τον θυμον οτι παρωξυνθη κυριος εφ υμιν εξολεθρευσαι υμας και εισηκουσεν κυριος εμου και εν τω καιρω τουτω

So I fell down before Yahweh the forty days and forty nights that I fell down, because Yahweh had said he would destroy you.

Thus I fell down H5307 (HithImpf) before H6440 the Lord H3068 forty H705 days H3117 and forty H705 nights, H3915 as I fell down H5307 (HithPerf) at the first; because the Lord H3068 had said H559 (QalPerf) he would destroy H8045 (HiphInf) you.

και εδεηθην εναντιον κυριου τεσσαρακοντα ημερας και τεσσαρακοντα νυκτας οσας εδεηθην ειπεν γαρ κυριος εξολεθρευσαι υμας

Now, Israel, what does Yahweh your God require of you, but to fear Yahweh your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, and to serve Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

και νυν ισραηλ τι κυριος ο θεος σου αιτειται παρα σου αλλ η φοβεισθαι κυριον τον θεον σου πορευεσθαι εν πασαις ταις οδοις αυτου και αγαπαν αυτον και λατρευειν κυριω τω θεω σου εξ ολης της καρδιας σου και εξ ολης της ψυχης σου

For Yahweh your God, he is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, the mighty, and the awesome, who doesn’t respect persons or take bribes.

For the Lord H3068 your God H430 is God H430 of gods, H430 and Lord H113 of lords, H113 a great H1419 God, H410 a mighty, H1368 and a terrible, H3372 (NiphPtc) which regardeth H5375 (QalImpf) not persons, H6440 nor taketh H3947 (QalImpf) reward: H7810

ο γαρ κυριος ο θεος υμων ουτος θεος των θεων και κυριος των κυριων ο θεος ο μεγας και ισχυρος και ο φοβερος οστις ου θαυμαζει προσωπον ουδ ου μη λαβη δωρον

Therefore love the foreigner, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

και γνωσεσθε σημερον οτι ουχι τα παιδια υμων οσοι ουκ οιδασιν ουδε ειδοσαν την παιδειαν κυριου του θεου σου και τα μεγαλεια αυτου και την χειρα την κραταιαν και τον βραχιονα τον υψηλον

but your eyes have seen all of Yahweh’s great work which he did.

but your eyes H5869 have seen H7200 (QalActPtc) all the great H1419 acts H4639 of the Lord H3068 which he did. H6213 (QalPerf)

οτι οι οφθαλμοι υμων εωρακαν παντα τα εργα κυριου τα μεγαλα οσα εποιησεν υμιν σημερον

For the land, where you go in to possess isn’t like the land of Egypt that you came out of, where you sowed your seed and watered it with your foot, as a garden of herbs;

For the land, H776 whither thou goest in H935 (QalActPtc) to possess H3423 (QalInf) it, is not as the land H776 of Egypt, H4714 from whence ye came out, H3318 (QalPerf) where thou sowedst H2232 (QalImpf) thy seed, H2233 and wateredst H8248 (HiphPerf) it with thy foot, H7272 as a garden H1588 of herbs: H3419

εστιν γαρ η γη εις ην εισπορευη εκει κληρονομησαι αυτην ουχ ωσπερ η γη αιγυπτου εστιν οθεν εκπεπορευσθε εκειθεν οταν σπειρωσιν τον σπορον και ποτιζωσιν τοις ποσιν ωσει κηπον λαχανειας

For if you shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you—to do them, to love Yahweh your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cling to him—

και εσται εαν ακοη ακουσητε πασας τας εντολας ταυτας οσας εγω εντελλομαι σοι σημερον ποιειν αγαπαν κυριον τον θεον ημων και πορευεσθαι εν πασαις ταις οδοις αυτου και προσκολλασθαι αυτω

It shall happen, when Yahweh your God brings you into the land that you go to possess, that you shall set the blessing on Mount Gerizim, and the curse on Mount Ebal.

And it shall come to pass, when the Lord H3068 thy God H430 hath brought thee in H935 (HiphImpf) unto the land H776 whither thou goest H935 (QalActPtc) to possess H3423 (QalInf) it, that thou shalt put H5414 (QalPerf) the blessing H1293 upon mount H2022 Gerizim, H1630 and the curse H7045 upon mount H2022 Ebal. και εσται οταν εισαγαγη σε κυριος ο θεος σου εις την γην εις ην διαβαινεις εκει κληρονομησαι αυτην και δωσεις την ευλογιαν επ ορος γαριζιν και την καταραν επ ορος γαιβαλ

For you are to pass over the Jordan to go in to possess the land which Yahweh your God gives you, and you shall possess it and dwell in it.

For ye shall pass over H5674 (QalActPtc) Jordan H3383 to go in H935 (QalInf) to possess H3423 (QalInf) the land H776 which the Lord H3068 your God H430 giveth H5414 (QalActPtc) you, and ye shall possess H3423 (QalPerf) it, and dwell H3427 (QalPerf) therein.

υμεις γαρ διαβαινετε τον ιορδανην εισελθοντες κληρονομησαι την γην ην κυριος ο θεος υμων διδωσιν υμιν εν κληρω πασας τας ημερας και κληρονομησετε αυτην και κατοικησετε εν αυτη
