The battle was very severe that day; and Abner was beaten, and the men of Israel, before David’s servants.

Joab returned from following Abner; and when he had gathered all the people together, nineteen men of David’s and Asahel were missing.

But David’s servants had struck Benjamin Abner’s men so that three hundred sixty men died.

Now then do it! For Yahweh has spoken of David, saying, ‘By the hand of my servant David, I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.’ ”

και νυν ποιησατε οτι κυριος ελαλησεν περι δαυιδ λεγων εν χειρι του δουλου μου δαυιδ σωσω τον ισραηλ εκ χειρος αλλοφυλων και εκ χειρος παντων των εχθρων αυτων

Behold, David’s servants and Joab came from a raid and brought in a great plunder with them; but Abner was not with David in Hebron, for he had sent him away, and he had gone in peace.

The king said to his servants, “Don’t you know that a prince and a great man has fallen today in Israel?

Then David returned to bless his household. Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, “How glorious the king of Israel was today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of his servants’ maids, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!”

“Go and tell my servant David, ‘Yahweh says, “Should you build me a house for me to dwell in?

πορευου και ειπον προς τον δουλον μου δαυιδ ταδε λεγει κυριος ου συ οικοδομησεις μοι οικον του κατοικησαι με

Now therefore tell my servant David this: ‘Yahweh of Armies says, “I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people, over Israel.

This was yet a small thing in your eyes, Lord Yahweh, but you have spoken also of your servant’s house for a great while to come; and this among men, Lord Yahweh!

και κατεσμικρυνθη μικρον ενωπιον σου κυριε μου κυριε και ελαλησας υπερ του οικου του δουλου σου εις μακραν ουτος δε ο νομος του ανθρωπου κυριε μου κυριε

What more can David say to you? For you know your servant, Lord Yahweh.

And what can H3254 David H1732 say H1696 (PielInf) more H3254 (HiphImpf) unto thee? for thou, Lord H136 God, H3069 knowest H3045 (QalPerf) thy servant. H5650

και τι προσθησει δαυιδ ετι του λαλησαι προς σε και νυν συ οιδας τον δουλον σου κυριε μου κυριε

For your word’s sake, and according to your own heart, you have worked all this greatness, to make your servant know it.

For thy word’s H1697 sake, and according to thine own heart, H3820 hast thou done H6213 (QalPerf) all these great things, H1420 to make thy servant H5650 know H3045 (HiphInf) [them].

δια τον λογον σου πεποιηκας και κατα την καρδιαν σου εποιησας πασαν την μεγαλωσυνην ταυτην γνωρισαι τω δουλω σου

“Now, Yahweh God, the word that you have spoken concerning your servant, and concerning his house, confirm it forever, and do as you have spoken.

Let your name be magnified forever, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies is God over Israel; and the house of your servant David will be established before you.’

μεγαλυνθειη το ονομα σου εως αιωνος

For you, Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, have revealed to your servant, saying, ‘I will build you a house.’ Therefore your servant has found in his heart to pray this prayer to you.

κυριε παντοκρατωρ θεος ισραηλ απεκαλυψας το ωτιον του δουλου σου λεγων οικον οικοδομησω σοι δια τουτο ευρεν ο δουλος σου την καρδιαν εαυτου του προσευξασθαι προς σε την προσευχην ταυτην

“Now, O Lord Yahweh, you are God, and your words are truth, and you have promised this good thing to your servant.

Now therefore, let it please you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you; for you, Lord Yahweh, have spoken it. Let the house of your servant be blessed forever with your blessing.”

και νυν αρξαι και ευλογησον τον οικον του δουλου σου του ειναι εις τον αιωνα ενωπιον σου οτι συ ει κυριε μου κυριε ελαλησας και απο της ευλογιας σου ευλογηθησεται ο οικος του δουλου σου εις τον αιωνα

He defeated Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. The Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.

Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.

David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

And David H1732 took H3947 (QalImpf) the shields H7982 of gold H2091 that were on the servants H5650 of Hadadezer, H1909 and brought H935 (HiphImpf) them to Jerusalem. H3389

He put garrisons in Edom. Throughout all Edom, he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.

και εθετο εν τη ιδουμαια φρουραν εν παση τη ιδουμαια και εγενοντο παντες οι ιδουμαιοι δουλοι τω βασιλει και εσωσεν κυριος τον δαυιδ εν πασιν οις επορευετο

There was of Saul’s house a servant whose name was Ziba, and they called him to David; and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?” He said, “I am your servant.”

και εκ του οικου σαουλ παις ην και ονομα αυτω σιβα και καλουσιν αυτον προς δαυιδ και ειπεν προς αυτον ο βασιλευς ει συ ει σιβα και ειπεν εγω δουλος σος

Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, fell on his face, and showed respect. David said, “Mephibosheth?” He answered, “Behold, your servant!”

Now when Mephibosheth, H4648 the son H1121 of Jonathan, H3083 the son H1121 of Saul, H7586 was come H935 (QalImpf) unto David, H1732 he fell H5307 (QalImpf) on his face, H6440 and did reverence. και παραγινεται μεμφιβοσθε υιος ιωναθαν υιου σαουλ προς τον βασιλεα δαυιδ και επεσεν επι προσωπον αυτου και προσεκυνησεν αυτω και ειπεν αυτω δαυιδ μεμφιβοσθε και ειπεν ιδου ο δουλος σου

He bowed down, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look at such a dead dog as I am?”

και εργα αυτω την γην συ και οι υιοι σου και οι δουλοι σου και εισοισεις τω υιω του κυριου σου αρτους και εδεται αυτους και μεμφιβοσθε υιος του κυριου σου φαγεται δια παντος αρτον επι της τραπεζης μου και τω σιβα ησαν πεντεκαιδεκα υιοι και εικοσι δουλοι

Then Ziba said to the king, “According to all that my lord the king commands his servant, so your servant will do.” So Mephibosheth ate at the king’s table like one of the king’s sons.

Then said H559 (QalImpf) Ziba H6717 unto the king, H4428 According to all that my lord H113 the king H4428 hath commanded H6680 (PielImpf) his servant, H5650 so shall thy servant H5650 do. και ειπεν σιβα προς τον βασιλεα κατα παντα οσα εντεταλται ο κυριος μου ο βασιλευς τω δουλω αυτου ουτως ποιησει ο δουλος σου και μεμφιβοσθε ησθιεν επι της τραπεζης δαυιδ καθως εις των υιων του βασιλεως

Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Mica. All who lived in Ziba’s house were servants to Mephibosheth.

And Mephibosheth H4648 had a young H6996 son, H1121 whose name H8034 [was] Micha. H4316 And all that dwelt H4186 in the house H1004 of Ziba H6717 [were] servants H5650 unto Mephibosheth. H4648

και τω μεμφιβοσθε υιος μικρος και ονομα αυτω μιχα και πασα η κατοικησις του οικου σιβα δουλοι του μεμφιβοσθε

David said, “I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent by his servants to comfort him concerning his father. David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.

But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun their lord, “Do you think that David honors your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? Hasn’t David sent his servants to you to search the city, to spy it out, and to overthrow it?”

και ειπον οι αρχοντες υιων αμμων προς αννων τον κυριον αυτων μη παρα το δοξαζειν δαυιδ τον πατερα σου ενωπιον σου οτι απεστειλεν σοι παρακαλουντας αλλ ουχι οπως ερευνησωσιν την πολιν και κατασκοπησωσιν αυτην και του κατασκεψασθαι αυτην απεστειλεν δαυιδ τους παιδας αυτου προς σε

So Hanun took David’s servants, shaved off one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.

Wherefore Hanun H2586 took H3947 (QalImpf) David’s H1732 servants, H5650 and shaved off H1548 (PielImpf) the one half H2677 of their beards, H2206 and cut off H3772 (QalImpf) their garments H4063 in the middle, H2677 [even] to their buttocks, H8357 and sent them away. H7971 (PielImpf)

και ελαβεν αννων τους παιδας δαυιδ και εξυρησεν τους πωγωνας αυτων και απεκοψεν τους μανδυας αυτων εν τω ημισει εως των ισχιων αυτων και εξαπεστειλεν αυτους

When all the kings who were servants to Hadadezer saw that they were defeated before Israel, they made peace with Israel and served them. So the Syrians were afraid to help the children of Ammon any more.

And when all the kings H4428 [that were] servants H5650 to Hadarezer H1928 saw H7200 (QalImpf) that they were smitten H5062 (NiphPerf) before H6440 Israel, H3478 they made peace H7999 (HiphImpf) with Israel, H3478 and served H5647 (QalImpf) them. So the Syrians H758 feared H3372 (QalImpf) to help H3467 (HiphInf) the children H1121 of Ammon H5983 any more.

και ειδαν παντες οι βασιλεις οι δουλοι αδρααζαρ οτι επταισαν εμπροσθεν ισραηλ και ηυτομολησαν μετα ισραηλ και εδουλευσαν αυτοις και εφοβηθη συρια του σωσαι ετι τους υιους αμμων

At the return of the year, at the time when kings go out, David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem.

The shooters shot at your servants from off the wall; and some of the king’s servants are dead, and your servant Uriah the Hittite is also dead.”

On the seventh day, the child died. David’s servants were afraid to tell him that the child was dead, for they said, “Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spoke to him and he didn’t listen to our voice. How will he then harm himself if we tell him that the child is dead?”

But when David saw that his servants were whispering together, David perceived that the child was dead; and David said to his servants, “Is the child dead?” They said, “He is dead.”

Then his servants said to him, “What is this that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive, but when the child was dead, you rose up and ate bread.”

Jonadab said to the king, “Behold, the king’s sons are coming! It is as your servant said.”

Your servant Joab has done this thing to change the face of the matter. My lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth.”
