οτι απ αιωνος συνετριψας τον ζυγον σου διεσπασας τους δεσμους σου και ειπας ου δουλευσω αλλα πορευσομαι επι παν βουνον υψηλον και υποκατω παντος ξυλου κατασκιου εκει διαχυθησομαι εν τη πορνεια μου

Don’t you fear me?’ says Yahweh; ‘Won’t you tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it can’t pass it? Though its waves toss themselves, yet they can’t prevail. Though they roar, they still can’t pass over it.’

μη εμε ου φοβηθησεσθε λεγει κυριος η απο προσωπου μου ουκ ευλαβηθησεσθε τον ταξαντα αμμον οριον τη θαλασση προσταγμα αιωνιον και ουχ υπερβησεται αυτο και ταραχθησεται και ου δυνησεται και ηχησουσιν τα κυματα αυτης και ουχ υπερβησεται αυτο

They have grown fat. They shine; yes, they excel in deeds of wickedness. They don’t plead the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they may prosper; and they don’t defend the rights of the needy.

και παρεβησαν κρισιν ουκ εκριναν κρισιν ορφανου και κρισιν χηρας ουκ εκρινοσαν

“ ‘I will utterly consume them, says Yahweh. No grapes will be on the vine, no figs on the fig tree, and the leaf will fade. The things that I have given them will pass away from them.’ ”

“The harvest is past. The summer has ended, and we are not saved.”

Who is wise enough to understand this? Who is he to whom the mouth of Yahweh has spoken, that he may declare it? Why has the land perished and burned up like a wilderness, so that no one passes through?

τι η ηγαπημενη εν τω οικω μου εποιησεν βδελυγμα μη ευχαι και κρεα αγια αφελουσιν απο σου τας κακιας σου η τουτοις διαφευξη

“Therefore I will scatter them as the stubble that passes away by the wind of the wilderness.

to make their land an astonishment, and a perpetual hissing. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished, and shake his head.

I will make this city an astonishment and a hissing. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss because of all its plagues.

“Many nations will pass by this city, and they will each ask his neighbor, ‘Why has Yahweh done this to this great city?’

και διελευσονται εθνη δια της πολεως ταυτης και ερουσιν εκαστος προς τον πλησιον αυτου δια τι εποιησεν κυριος ουτως τη πολει τη μεγαλη ταυτη

Concerning the prophets: My heart within me is broken. All my bones shake. I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine has overcome, because of Yahweh, and because of his holy words.

εν τοις προφηταις συνετριβη η καρδια μου εν εμοι εσαλευθη παντα τα οστα μου εγενηθην ως ανηρ συντετριμμενος και ως ανθρωπος συνεχομενος απο οινου απο προσωπου κυριου και απο προσωπου ευπρεπειας δοξης αυτου

^[31:32] ως κλαυθμον ιαζηρ αποκλαυσομαι σοι αμπελος σεβημα κληματα σου διηλθεν θαλασσαν ιαζηρ ηψαντο επι οπωραν σου επι τρυγηταις σου ολεθρος επεπεσεν

“Edom will become an astonishment. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished, and will hiss at all its plagues.

Because of Yahweh’s wrath she won’t be inhabited, but she will be wholly desolate. Everyone who goes by Babylon will be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.

^[27:13] απο οργης κυριου ου κατοικηθησεται και εσται εις αφανισμον πασα και πας ο διοδευων δια βαβυλωνος σκυθρωπασει και συριουσιν επι πασαν την πληγην αυτης

Her cities have become a desolation, a dry land, and a desert, a land in which no man dwells. No son of man passes by it.

εκροτησαν επι σε χειρας παντες οι παραπορευομενοι οδον εσυρισαν και εκινησαν την κεφαλην αυτων επι την θυγατερα ιερουσαλημ η αυτη η πολις ην ερουσιν στεφανος δοξης ευφροσυνη πασης της γης

You have covered yourself with a cloud, so that no prayer can pass through.

επεσκεπασας νεφελην σεαυτω εινεκεν προσευχης

και συ υιε ανθρωπου λαβε σεαυτω ρομφαιαν οξειαν υπερ ξυρον κουρεως κτηση αυτην σεαυτω και επαξεις αυτην επι την κεφαλην σου και επι τον πωγωνα σου και λημψη ζυγον σταθμιων και διαστησεις αυτους

“ ‘Moreover I will make you a desolation and a reproach among the nations that are around you, in the sight of all that pass by.

και θησομαι σε εις ερημον και τας θυγατερας σου κυκλω σου ενωπιον παντος διοδευοντος

I will send on you famine and evil animals, and they will bereave you. Pestilence and blood will pass through you. I will bring the sword on you. I, Yahweh, have spoken it.’ ”

και εξαποστελω επι σε λιμον και θηρια πονηρα και τιμωρησομαι σε και θανατος και αιμα διελευσονται επι σε και ρομφαιαν επαξω επι σε κυκλοθεν εγω κυριος λελαληκα

Yahweh said to him, “Go through the middle of the city, through the middle of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry over all the abominations that are done within it.”

και τουτοις ειπεν ακουοντος μου πορευεσθε οπισω αυτου εις την πολιν και κοπτετε και μη φειδεσθε τοις οφθαλμοις υμων και μη ελεησητε

“If I cause evil animals to pass through the land, and they ravage it and it is made desolate, so that no man may pass through because of the animals—

και επεποιθεις εν τω καλλει σου και επορνευσας επι τω ονοματι σου και εξεχεας την πορνειαν σου επι παντα παροδον ο ουκ εσται

ου μη διελθη εν αυτη πους ανθρωπου και πους κτηνους ου μη διελθη αυτην και ου κατοικηθησεται τεσσαρακοντα ετη

I will make the land a desolation and an astonishment. The pride of her power will cease. The mountains of Israel will be desolate, so that no one will pass through.

και δωσω την γην ερημον και απολειται η υβρις της ισχυος αυτης και ερημωθησεται τα ορη του ισραηλ δια το μη ειναι διαπορευομενον

Thus I will make Mount Seir an astonishment and a desolation. I will cut off from it him who passes through and him who returns.

και δωσω το ορος σηιρ εις ερημον και ηρημωμενον και απολω απ αυτου ανθρωπους και κτηνη

The land that was desolate will be tilled instead of being a desolation in the sight of all who passed by.

και η γη η ηφανισμενη εργασθησεται ανθ ων οτι ηφανισμενη εγενηθη κατ οφθαλμους παντος παροδευοντος
