“Lord, righteousness belongs to you, but to us confusion of face, as it is today; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, who are near and who are far off, through all the countries where you have driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against you.

‘To Thee, O Lord, is the righteousness, and to us the shame of face, as at this day, to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, who are near, and who are far off, in all the lands whither Thou hast driven them, in their trespass that they have trespassed against Thee.

Lord, to us belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you.

‘O Lord, to us is the shame of face, to our kings, to our heads, and to our fathers, in that we have sinned against Thee.

We haven’t obeyed Yahweh our God’s voice, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.

Neither have we obeyed H8085 (QalPerf) the voice H6963 of the Lord H3068 our God, H430 to walk H3212 (QalInf) in his laws, H8451 which he set H5414 (QalPerf) before H6440 us by H3027 his servants H5650 the prophets. H5030

and have not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah our God, to walk in His laws, that He hath set before us by the hand of His servants the prophets;

Yes, all Israel have transgressed your law, turning aside, that they should not obey your voice.

Yea, all Israel H3478 have transgressed H5674 (QalPerf) thy law, H8451 even by departing, H5493 (QalInf) that they might not obey H8085 (QalInf) thy voice; H6963 therefore the curse H423 is poured H5413 (QalImpf) upon us, and the oath H7621 that [is] written H3789 (QalPasPtc) in the law H8451 of Moses H4872 the servant H5650 of God, H430 because we have sinned H2398 (QalPerf) against him.

and all Israel have transgressed Thy law, to turn aside so as not to hearken to Thy voice; and poured on us is the execration, and the oath, that is written in the law of Moses, servant of God, because we have sinned against Him.

He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us and against our judges who judged us, by bringing on us a great evil; for under the whole sky, such has not been done as has been done to Jerusalem.

And he hath confirmed H6965 (HiphImpf) his words, H1697 which he spake H1696 (PielPerf) against us, and against our judges H8199 (QalActPtc) that judged H8199 (QalPerf) us, by bringing H935 (HiphInf) upon us a great H1419 evil: H7451 for under the whole heaven H8064 hath not been done H6213 (NiphPerf) as hath been done H6213 (NiphPerf) upon Jerusalem. ‘And He confirmeth His words that He hath spoken against us, and against our judges who have judged us, to bring in upon us great evil, in that it hath not been done under the whole heavens as it hath been done in Jerusalem,

Therefore Yahweh has watched over the evil, and brought it on us; for Yahweh our God is righteous in all his works which he does, and we have not obeyed his voice.

Therefore hath the Lord H3068 watched H8245 (QalImpf) upon the evil, H7451 and brought H935 (HiphImpf) it upon us: for the Lord H3068 our God H430 [is] righteous H6662 in all his works H4639 which he doeth: H6213 (QalPerf) for we obeyed H8085 (QalPerf) not his voice. H6963

And Jehovah doth watch for the evil, and bringeth it upon us, for righteous is Jehovah our God concerning all His works that He hath done, and we have not hearkened to His voice.

“Now, Lord our God, who has brought your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and have gotten yourself renown, as it is today, we have sinned. We have done wickedly.

And now, O Lord our God, who hast brought forth Thy people from the land of Egypt by a strong hand, and dost make for Thee a name as at this day, we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

My God, turn your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see our desolations, and the city which is called by your name; for we do not present our petitions before you for our righteousness, but for your great mercies’ sake.

‘Incline, O my God, Thine ear, and hear, open Thine eyes and see our desolations, and the city on which Thy name is called; for not for our righteous acts are we causing our supplications to fall before Thee, but for Thy mercies that are many.

yes, while I was speaking in prayer—the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening offering.

Yea, whiles I [was] speaking H1696 (PielPtc) in prayer, H8605 even the man H376 Gabriel, H1403 whom I had seen H7200 (QalPerf) in the vision H2377 at the beginning, H8462 being caused to fly H3286 (HophPtc) swiftly, H3288 touched H5060 (QalActPtc) me about the time H6256 of the evening H6153 oblation. yea, while I am speaking in prayer, then that one Gabriel, whom I had seen in vision at the commencement, being caused to fly swiftly, is coming unto me at the time of the evening present.

In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the message was true, even a great warfare. He understood the message, and had understanding of the vision.

In the third H7969 year H8141 of Cyrus H3566 king H4428 of Persia H6539 a thing H1697 was revealed H1540 (NiphPerf) unto Daniel, H1840 whose name H8034 was called H7121 (NiphPerf) Belteshazzar; H1095 and the thing H1697 [was] true, H571 but the time appointed H6635 [was] long: H1419 and he understood H995 (QalPerf) the thing, H1697 and had understanding H998 of the vision. In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a thing is revealed to Daniel, whose name is called Belteshazzar, and the thing is true, and the warfare is great: and he hath understood the thing, and hath understanding about the appearance.

I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me didn’t see the vision, but a great quaking fell on them, and they fled to hide themselves.

And I Daniel H1840 alone saw H7200 (QalPerf) the vision: H4759 for the men H582 that were with me saw H7200 (QalPerf) not the vision; H4759 but H61 a great H1419 quaking H2731 fell H5307 (QalPerf) upon them, so that they fled H1272 (QalImpf) to hide H2244 (NiphInf) themselves.

‘And I have seen-I, Daniel, by myself-the appearance: and the men who have been with me have not seen the appearance, but a great trembling hath fallen on them, and they flee to be hidden;

Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision is yet for many days.”

Now I am come H935 (QalPerf) to make thee understand H995 (HiphInf) what shall befall H7136 (QalImpf) thy people H5971 in the latter H319 days: H3117 for yet the vision H2377 [is] for [many] days. H3117

and I have come to cause thee to understand that which doth happen to thy people in the latter end of the days, for yet the vision is after days.

When he stands up, his kingdom will be broken and will be divided toward the four winds of the sky, but not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion with which he ruled; for his kingdom will be plucked up, even for others besides these.

And when he shall stand up, H5975 (QalInf) his kingdom H4438 shall be broken, H7665 (NiphImpf) and shall be divided H2673 (NiphImpf) toward the four H702 winds H7307 of heaven; H8064 and not to his posterity, H319 nor according to his dominion H4915 which he ruled: H4910 (QalPerf) for his kingdom H4438 shall be plucked up, H5428 (NiphImpf) even for others H312 beside those.

and according to his standing is his kingdom broken, and divided to the four winds of the heavens, and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion that he ruled, for his kingdom is plucked up-and for others apart from these.

In time of security he will come even on the fattest places of the province. He will do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers’ fathers. He will scatter among them prey, plunder, and wealth. Yes, he will devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time.

He shall enter H935 (QalImpf) peaceably H7962 even upon the fattest places H4924 of the province; H4082 and he shall do H6213 (QalPerf) [that] which his fathers H1 have not done, H6213 (QalPerf) nor his fathers’ H1 fathers; H1 he shall scatter H967 (QalImpf) among them the prey, H961 and spoil, H7998 and riches: H7399 [yea], and he shall forecast H2803 (PielImpf) his devices H4284 against the strong holds, H4013 even for a time. Peaceably even into the fertile places of the province He cometh, and he hath done that which his fathers did not, nor his fathers’ fathers; prey, and spoil, and substance, to them he scattereth, and against fenced places he deviseth his devices, even for a time.

But in their place, he will honor the god of fortresses. He will honor a god whom his fathers didn’t know with gold, silver, and with precious stones and pleasant things.

But in his estate H3653 shall he honour H3513 (PielImpf) the God H433 of forces: H4581 and a god H433 whom his fathers H1 knew H3045 (QalPerf) not shall he honour H3513 (PielImpf) with gold, H2091 and silver, H3701 and with precious H3368 stones, H68 and pleasant things. H2532

And to the god of strongholds, on his station, he giveth honour; yea, to a god whom his fathers knew not he giveth honour, with gold, and with silver, and with precious stone, and with desirable things.

He will deal with the strongest fortresses by the help of a foreign god. He will increase with glory whoever acknowledges him. He will cause them to rule over many, and will divide the land for a price.

Thus shall he do H6213 (QalPerf) in the most strong H4581 holds H4013 with a strange H5236 god, H433 whom he shall acknowledge H5234 (HiphImpf) (Qere) H5234 (HiphPerf) [and] increase H7235 (HiphImpf) with glory: H3519 and he shall cause them to rule H4910 (HiphPerf) over many, H7227 and shall divide H2505 (PielImpf) the land H127 for gain. H4242

And he hath dealt in the fortresses of the strongholds with a strange god whom he hath acknowledged; he multiplieth honour, and hath caused them to rule over many, and the ground he apportioneth at a price.

“At that time Michael will stand up, the great prince who stands for the children of your people; and there will be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time. At that time your people will be delivered, everyone who is found written in the book.

And at that time H6256 shall Michael H4317 stand up, H5975 (QalImpf) the great H1419 prince H8269 which standeth H5975 (QalActPtc) for the children H1121 of thy people: H5971 and there shall be H1961 (NiphPerf) a time H6256 of trouble, H6869 such as never was since there was a nation H1471 [even] to that same time: H6256 and at that time H6256 thy people H5971 shall be delivered, H4422 (NiphImpf) every one that shall be found H4672 (NiphPtc) written H3789 (QalPasPtc) in the book. ‘And at that time stand up doth Michael, the great head, who is standing up for the sons of thy people, and there hath been a time of distress, such as hath not been since there hath been a nation till that time, and at that time do thy people escape, every one who is found written in the book.

One said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, “How long will it be to the end of these wonders?”

And [one] said H559 (QalImpf) to the man H376 clothed H3847 (QalPasPtc) in linen, H906 which [was] upon H4605 the waters H4325 of the river, H2975 How long [shall it be to] the end H7093 of these wonders? H6382

and he saith to the one clothed in linen, who is upon the waters of the flood, ‘Till when is the end of these wonders?’

I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and swore by him who lives forever that it will be for a time, times, and a half; and when they have finished breaking in pieces the power of the holy people, all these things will be finished.

And I hear the one clothed in linen, who is upon the waters of the flood, and he doth lift up his right hand and his left unto the heavens, and sweareth by Him who is living to the age, that, ‘After a time, times, and a half, and at the completion of the scattering of the power of the holy people, finished are all these.’

Yahweh’s^§ word that came to Hosea the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.

A word of Jehovah that hath been unto Hosea, son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam son of Joash, king of Israel:

Yet the number of the children of Israel will be as the sand of the sea, which can’t be measured or counted; and it will come to pass that, in the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ they will be called ‘sons of the living God.’

and the number of the sons of Israel hath been as the sand of the sea, that is not measured nor numbered, and it hath come to pass in the place where it is said to them, Ye are not My people, it is said to them, Sons of the Living God;

I will lay waste her vines and her fig trees, about which she has said, ‘These are my wages that my lovers have given me,’ and I will make them a forest, and the animals of the field shall eat them.

And made desolate her vine and her fig-tree, Of which she said, A gift they are to me, That my lovers have given to me, And I have made them for a forest, And consumed them hath a beast of the field.

I will visit on her the days of the Baals, to which she burned incense when she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and went after her lovers and forgot me,” says Yahweh.

And I will visit H6485 (QalPerf) upon her the days H3117 of Baalim, H1168 wherein she burned incense H6999 (HiphImpf) to them, and she decked H5710 (QalImpf) herself with her earrings H5141 and her jewels, H2484 and she went H3212 (QalImpf) after H310 her lovers, H157 (PielPtc) and forgat H7911 (QalPerf) me, saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord. And I have charged on her the days of the Baalim, To whom she maketh perfume, And putteth on her ring and her ornament, And goeth after her lovers, And Me forgat-an affirmation of Jehovah.

I will go and return to my place, until they acknowledge their offense, and seek my face. In their affliction they will seek me earnestly.”

I go-I turn back unto My place, Till that they are desolate, and have sought My face. In their distress they do seek Me speedily!’

Ephraim said, “Surely I have become rich. I have found myself wealth. In all my wealth they won’t find in me any iniquity that is sin.”

And Ephraim H669 said, H559 (QalImpf) Yet I am become rich, H6238 (QalPerf) I have found me out H4672 (QalPerf) substance: H202 [in] all my labours H3018 they shall find H4672 (QalImpf) none iniquity H5771 in me that [were] sin. H2399

And Ephraim saith: ‘Surely I have become rich, I have found wealth for myself, All my labours-they find not against me iniquity that is sin.’

Where is your king now, that he may save you in all your cities? And your judges, of whom you said, ‘Give me a king and princes’?

I will H165 be thy king: H4428 where H645 [is any other] that may save H3467 (HiphImpf) thee in all thy cities? H5892 and thy judges H8199 (QalActPtc) of whom thou saidst, H559 (QalPerf) Give H5414 (QalImpv) me a king H4428 and princes? H8269

Thou hast destroyed thyself, O Israel, But in Me is thy help, Where is thy king now- And he doth save thee in all thy cities? And thy judges of whom thou didst say, ‘Give to me a king and heads?’

I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the great locust, the grasshopper, and the caterpillar, my great army, which I sent among you.

And I will restore H7999 (PielPerf) to you the years H8141 that the locust H697 hath eaten, H398 (QalPerf) the cankerworm, H3218 and the caterpiller, H2625 and the palmerworm, H1501 my great H1419 army H2428 which I sent H7971 (PielPerf) among you.

And I have recompensed to you the years That consume did the locust, the cankerworm, And the caterpillar, and the palmer-worm, My great force that I did send against you.

You will have plenty to eat and be satisfied, and will praise the name of Yahweh, your God, who has dealt wondrously with you; and my people will never again be disappointed.

And ye have eaten, eating and being satisfied, And have praised the name of Jehovah your God, Who hath dealt with you wonderfully, And not ashamed are My people to the age.

It will happen that whoever will call on Yahweh’s name shall be saved; for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be those who escape, as Yahweh has said, and among the remnant, those whom Yahweh calls.

And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call H7121 (QalImpf) on the name H8034 of the Lord H3068 shall be delivered: H4422 (NiphImpf) for in mount H2022 Zion H6726 and in Jerusalem H3389 shall be deliverance, H6413 as the Lord H3068 hath said, H559 (QalPerf) and in the remnant H8300 whom the Lord H3068 shall call. And it hath come to pass, Every one who calleth in the name of Jehovah is delivered, For in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there is an escape, As Jehovah hath said, And among the remnants whom Jehovah is calling!

“For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem,

For lo, in those days, and in that time, When I turn back to the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,

I will gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat; and I will execute judgment on them there for my people, and for my heritage, Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations. They have divided my land,

Then I have gathered all the nations, And caused them to go down unto the valley of Jehoshaphat, And I have been judged with them there, Concerning My people and Mine inheritance-Israel, Whom they scattered among nations, And My land they have apportioned.

Because you have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried my finest treasures into your temples,

In that My silver and My gold ye took, And My desirable things that are good, Ye have brought in to your temples.

Behold, I will stir them up out of the place where you have sold them, and will return your repayment on your own head;

Lo, I am stirring them up out of the place Whither ye have sold them, And I have turned back your recompence on your head,

Egypt will be a desolation and Edom will be a desolate wilderness, for the violence done to the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

The words of Amos, who was among the herdsmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

Words of Amos-who hath been among herdsmen of Tekoa-that he hath seen concerning Israel, in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the shaking;

Yahweh says: “For three transgressions of Judah, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment, because they have rejected Yahweh’s law, and have not kept his statutes, and their lies have led them astray, after which their fathers walked;

Thus said Jehovah: For three transgressions of Judah, And for four, I do not reserve it, Because of their loathing the law of Jehovah, And His statutes they have not kept, And their lies do cause them to err, After which their fathers did walk,

Hear this word that Yahweh has spoken against you, children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying:

Hear ye this word that Jehovah hath spoken concerning you, O sons of Israel, concerning all the family that I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying:

Listen to this word, you cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who tell their husbands, “Bring us drinks!”

Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, Who are in the mountain of Samaria, Who are oppressing the poor, Who are bruising the needy, Who are saying to their lords: ‘Bring in, and we do drink.’

Listen to this word which I take up for a lamentation over you, O house of Israel:

You also carried the tent of your king and the shrine of your images, the star of your god, which you made for yourselves.

I will plant them on their land, and they will no more be plucked up out of their land which I have given them,” says Yahweh your God.

And I have planted them on their own ground, And they are not plucked up any more from off their own ground, That I have given to them, said Jehovah thy God!

The captives of this army of the children of Israel, who are among the Canaanites, will possess even to Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, who are in Sepharad, will possess the cities of the Negev.

And I-with a voice of thanksgiving- I sacrifice to Thee, That which I have vowed I complete, Salvation is of Jehovah.

“Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I give you.”

Arise, H6965 (QalImpv) go H3212 (QalImpv) unto Nineveh, H5210 that great H1419 city, H5892 and preach H7121 (QalImpv) unto it the preaching H7150 that I bid H1696 (QalActPtc) thee.

‘Rise, go unto Nineveh, the great city, and proclaim unto it the proclamation that I am speaking unto thee;’

but let them be covered with sackcloth, both man and animal, and let them cry mightily to God. Yes, let them turn everyone from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands.

and cover themselves with sackcloth let man and beast, and let them call unto God mightily, and let them turn back each from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.

God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way. God relented of the disaster which he said he would do to them, and he didn’t do it.

And God H430 saw H7200 (QalImpf) their works, H4639 that they turned H7725 (QalPerf) from their evil H7451 way; H1870 and God H430 repented H5162 (NiphImpf) of the evil, H7451 that he had said H1696 (PielPerf) that he would do H6213 (QalInf) unto them; and he did H6213 (QalPerf) [it] not.

And God seeth their works, that they have turned back from their evil way, and God repenteth of the evil that He spake of doing to them, and he hath not done it.
