αποκριθεις δε λαβαν και βαθουηλ ειπαν παρα κυριου εξηλθεν το προσταγμα τουτο ου δυνησομεθα ουν σοι αντειπειν κακον καλω

ει το μεν αργυριον ο ευρομεν εν τοις μαρσιπποις ημων απεστρεψαμεν προς σε εκ γης χανααν πως αν κλεψαιμεν εκ του οικου του κυριου σου αργυριον η χρυσιον

εαν δε λοιδορωνται δυο ανδρες και παταξη τις τον πλησιον λιθω η πυγμη και μη αποθανη κατακλιθη δε επι την κοιτην

“If a man strikes his servant or his maid with a rod, and he dies under his hand, the man shall surely be punished.

εαν δε τις παταξη τον παιδα αυτου η την παιδισκην αυτου εν ραβδω και αποθανη υπο τας χειρας αυτου δικη εκδικηθητω

Notwithstanding, if his servant gets up after a day or two, he shall not be punished, for the servant is his property.

“If a man strikes his servant’s eye, or his maid’s eye, and destroys it, he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake.

εαν δε τις παταξη τον οφθαλμον του οικετου αυτου η τον οφθαλμον της θεραπαινης αυτου και εκτυφλωση ελευθερους εξαποστελει αυτους αντι του οφθαλμου αυτων

If he strikes out his male servant’s tooth, or his female servant’s tooth, he shall let the servant go free for his tooth’s sake.

And if he smite H5307 (HiphImpf) out his manservant’s H5650 tooth, H8127 or his maidservant’s H519 tooth; H8127 he shall let him go H7971 (PielImpf) free H2670 for his tooth’s H8127 sake.

εαν δε τον οδοντα του οικετου η τον οδοντα της θεραπαινης αυτου εκκοψη ελευθερους εξαποστελει αυτους αντι του οδοντος αυτων

“If a bull gores a man or a woman to death, the bull shall surely be stoned, and its meat shall not be eaten; but the owner of the bull shall not be held responsible.

εαν δε κερατιση ταυρος ανδρα η γυναικα και αποθανη λιθοις λιθοβοληθησεται ο ταυρος και ου βρωθησεται τα κρεα αυτου ο δε κυριος του ταυρου αθωος εσται

But if the bull had a habit of goring in the past, and this has been testified to its owner, and he has not kept it in, but it has killed a man or a woman, the bull shall be stoned, and its owner shall also be put to death.

But if the ox H7794 were wont to push with his horn H5056 in time past, H8543 H8032 and it hath been testified H5749 (HophPerf) to his owner, H1167 and he hath not kept H8104 (QalImpf) him in, but that he hath killed H4191 (HiphPerf) a man H376 or a woman; H802 the ox H7794 shall be stoned, H5619 (NiphImpf) and his owner H1167 also shall be put to death. εαν δε ο ταυρος κερατιστης η προ της εχθες και προ της τριτης και διαμαρτυρωνται τω κυριω αυτου και μη αφανιση αυτον ανελη δε ανδρα η γυναικα ο ταυρος λιθοβοληθησεται και ο κυριος αυτου προσαποθανειται

Whether it has gored a son or has gored a daughter, according to this judgment it shall be done to him.

Whether he have gored H5055 (QalImpf) a son, H1121 or H176 have gored H5055 (QalImpf) a daughter, H1323 according to this judgment H4941 shall it be done H6213 (NiphImpf) unto him.

εαν δε υιον η θυγατερα κερατιση κατα το δικαιωμα τουτο ποιησουσιν αυτω

If the bull gores a male servant or a female servant, thirty shekels° of silver shall be given to their master, and the ox shall be stoned.

Exodus 21:32 A shekel is about 10 grams or about 0.35 ounces, so 30 shekels is about 300 grams or about 10.6 ounces.

If the ox H7794 shall push H5055 (QalImpf) a manservant H5650 or a maidservant; H519 he shall give H5414 (QalImpf) unto their master H113 thirty H7970 shekels H8255 of silver, H3701 and the ox H7794 shall be stoned. H5619 (NiphImpf)

“If a man opens a pit, or if a man digs a pit and doesn’t cover it, and a bull or a donkey falls into it,

εαν δε τις ανοιξη λακκον η λατομηση λακκον και μη καλυψη αυτον και εμπεση εκει μοσχος η ονος

Or if it is known that the bull was in the habit of goring in the past, and its owner has not kept it in, he shall surely pay bull for bull, and the dead animal shall be his own.

Or if it be known H3045 (NiphPerf) that the ox H7794 hath used to push H5056 in time past, H8543 H8032 and his owner H1167 hath not kept H8104 (QalImpf) him in; he shall surely H7999 (PielInf) pay H7999 (PielImpf) ox H7794 for ox; H7794 and the dead H4191 (QalPtc) shall be his own.

εαν δε γνωριζηται ο ταυρος οτι κερατιστης εστιν προ της εχθες και προ της τριτης ημερας και διαμεμαρτυρημενοι ωσιν τω κυριω αυτου και μη αφανιση αυτον αποτεισει ταυρον αντι ταυρου ο δε τετελευτηκως αυτω εσται

“If a man steals an ox or a sheep, and kills it or sells it, he shall pay five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.

“If a man causes a field or vineyard to be eaten by letting his animal loose, and it grazes in another man’s field, he shall make restitution from the best of his own field, and from the best of his own vineyard.

^[22:4] εαν δε καταβοσκηση τις αγρον η αμπελωνα και αφη το κτηνος αυτου καταβοσκησαι αγρον ετερον αποτεισει εκ του αγρου αυτου κατα το γενημα αυτου εαν δε παντα τον αγρον καταβοσκηση τα βελτιστα του αγρου αυτου και τα βελτιστα του αμπελωνος αυτου αποτεισει

“If fire breaks out, and catches in thorns so that the shocks of grain, or the standing grain, or the field are consumed; he who kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.

If fire H784 break out, H3318 (QalImpf) and catch H4672 (QalPerf) in thorns, H6975 so that the stacks of corn, H1430 or the standing corn, H7054 or the field, H7704 be consumed H398 (NiphPerf) [therewith]; he that kindled H1197 (HiphImpf) the fire H1200 shall surely H7999 (PielInf) make restitution. ^[22:5] εαν δε εξελθον πυρ ευρη ακανθας και προσεμπρηση αλωνα η σταχυς η πεδιον αποτεισει ο το πυρ εκκαυσας

“If a man delivers to his neighbor money or stuff to keep, and it is stolen out of the man’s house, if the thief is found, he shall pay double.

If a man H376 shall deliver H5414 (QalImpf) unto his neighbour H7453 money H3701 or stuff H3627 to keep, H8104 (QalInf) and it be stolen H1589 (PualPerf) out of the man’s H376 house; H1004 if the thief H1590 be found, H4672 (NiphImpf) let him pay H7999 (PielImpf) double. H8147

^[22:6] εαν δε τις δω τω πλησιον αργυριον η σκευη φυλαξαι και κλαπη εκ της οικιας του ανθρωπου εαν ευρεθη ο κλεψας αποτεισει διπλουν

“If a man delivers to his neighbor a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any animal to keep, and it dies or is injured, or driven away, no man seeing it;

^[22:9] εαν δε τις δω τω πλησιον υποζυγιον η μοσχον η προβατον η παν κτηνος φυλαξαι και συντριβη η τελευτηση η αιχμαλωτον γενηται και μηδεις γνω

“If a man borrows anything of his neighbor’s, and it is injured, or dies, its owner not being with it, he shall surely make restitution.

And if a man H376 borrow H7592 (QalImpf) [ought] of his neighbour, H7453 and it be hurt, H7665 (NiphPerf) or die, H4191 (QalPerf) the owner H1167 thereof [being] not with it, H5973 he shall surely H7999 (PielInf) make [it] good. H7999 (PielImpf)

^[22:13] εαν δε αιτηση τις παρα του πλησιον και συντριβη η αποθανη η αιχμαλωτον γενηται ο δε κυριος μη η μετ αυτου αποτεισει

“If you meet your enemy’s ox or his donkey going astray, you shall surely bring it back to him again.

If thou meet H6293 (QalImpf) thine enemy’s H341 (QalActPtc) ox H7794 or his ass H2543 going astray, H8582 (QalActPtc) thou shalt surely H7725 (HiphInf) bring it back H7725 to him again. H7725 (HiphImpf)

εαν δε συναντησης τω βοι του εχθρου σου η τω υποζυγιω αυτου πλανωμενοις αποστρεψας αποδωσεις αυτω

They shall be on Aaron and on his sons, when they go in to the Tent of Meeting, or when they come near to the altar to minister in the holy place, that they don’t bear iniquity, and die. This shall be a statute forever to him and to his offspring after him.

και εξει ααρων αυτα και οι υιοι αυτου ως αν εισπορευωνται εις την σκηνην του μαρτυριου η οταν προσπορευωνται λειτουργειν προς το θυσιαστηριον του αγιου και ουκ επαξονται προς εαυτους αμαρτιαν ινα μη αποθανωσιν νομιμον αιωνιον αυτω και τω σπερματι αυτου μετ αυτον

When they go into the Tent of Meeting, they shall wash with water, that they not die; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn an offering made by fire to Yahweh.

οταν εισπορευωνται εις την σκηνην του μαρτυριου νιψονται υδατι και ου μη αποθανωσιν η οταν προσπορευωνται προς το θυσιαστηριον λειτουργειν και αναφερειν τα ολοκαυτωματα κυριω

“ ‘If his offering is from the flock, from the sheep or from the goats, for a burnt offering, he shall offer a male without defect.

And if his offering H7133 [be] of the flocks, H6629 [namely], of the sheep, H3775 or of the goats, H5795 for a burnt sacrifice; H5930 he shall bring H7126 (HiphImpf) it a male H2145 without blemish. H8549

εαν δε απο των προβατων το δωρον αυτου τω κυριω απο τε των αρνων και των εριφων εις ολοκαυτωμα αρσεν αμωμον προσαξει αυτο και επιθησει την χειρα επι την κεφαλην αυτου

“ ‘If his offering to Yahweh is a burnt offering of birds, then he shall offer his offering from turtledoves or of young pigeons.

And if the burnt sacrifice H5930 for his offering H7133 to the Lord H3068 [be] of fowls, H5775 then he shall bring H7126 (HiphPerf) his offering H7133 of turtledoves, H8449 or of young H1121 pigeons. H3123

εαν δε απο των πετεινων καρπωμα προσφερης δωρον τω κυριω και προσοισει απο των τρυγονων η απο των περιστερων το δωρον αυτου

“ ‘If his offering for a sacrifice of peace offerings to Yahweh is from the flock, either male or female, he shall offer it without defect.

And if his offering H7133 for a sacrifice H2077 of peace offering H8002 unto the Lord H3068 [be] of the flock; H6629 male H2145 or female, H5347 he shall offer H7126 (HiphImpf) it without blemish. H8549

εαν δε απο των προβατων το δωρον αυτου θυσιαν σωτηριου τω κυριω αρσεν η θηλυ αμωμον προσοισει αυτο

if his sin in which he has sinned is made known to him, he shall bring as his offering a goat, a male without defect.

Or if his sin, H2403 wherein he hath sinned, H2398 (QalPerf) come to his knowledge; H3045 (HophPerf) he shall bring H935 (HiphPerf) his offering, H7133 a kid H8163 of the goats, H5795 a male H2145 without blemish: H8549

και γνωσθη αυτω η αμαρτια ην ημαρτεν εν αυτη και προσοισει το δωρον αυτου χιμαρον εξ αιγων αρσεν αμωμον

if his sin which he has sinned is made known to him, then he shall bring for his offering a goat, a female without defect, for his sin which he has sinned.

και γνωσθη αυτω η αμαρτια ην ημαρτεν εν αυτη και οισει χιμαιραν εξ αιγων θηλειαν αμωμον οισει περι της αμαρτιας ης ημαρτεν

“ ‘If anyone sins, in that he hears a public adjuration to testify, he being a witness, whether he has seen or known, if he doesn’t report it, then he shall bear his iniquity.

And if a soul H5315 sin, H2398 (QalImpf) and hear H8085 (QalPerf) the voice H6963 of swearing, H423 and [is] a witness, H5707 whether H176 he hath seen H7200 (QalPerf) or known H3045 (QalPerf) [of it]; if he do not utter H5046 (HiphImpf) [it], then he shall bear H5375 (QalPerf) his iniquity. H5771

εαν δε ψυχη αμαρτη και ακουση φωνην ορκισμου και ουτος μαρτυς η εωρακεν η συνοιδεν εαν μη απαγγειλη λημψεται την αμαρτιαν

“ ‘Or if anyone touches any unclean thing, whether it is the carcass of an unclean animal, or the carcass of unclean livestock, or the carcass of unclean creeping things, and it is hidden from him, and he is unclean, then he shall be guilty.

“ ‘Or if he touches the uncleanness of man, whatever his uncleanness is with which he is unclean, and it is hidden from him; when he knows of it, then he shall be guilty.

Or if he touch H5060 (QalImpf) the uncleanness H2932 of man, H120 whatsoever uncleanness H2932 [it be] that a man shall be defiled H2930 (QalImpf) withal, and it be hid H5956 (NiphPerf) from him; when he knoweth H3045 (QalPerf) [of it], then he shall be guilty. H816 (QalPerf)

η αψηται απο ακαθαρσιας ανθρωπου απο πασης ακαθαρσιας αυτου ης αν αψαμενος μιανθη και ελαθεν αυτον μετα τουτο δε γνω και πλημμεληση

“ ‘Or if anyone swears rashly with his lips to do evil or to do good—whatever it is that a man might utter rashly with an oath, and it is hidden from him—when he knows of it, then he will be guilty of one of these.

Or if a soul H5315 swear, H7650 (NiphImpf) pronouncing H981 (PielInf) with [his] lips H8193 to do evil, H7489 (HiphInf) or to do good, H3190 (HiphInf) whatsoever [it be] that a man H120 shall pronounce H981 (PielImpf) with an oath, H7621 and it be hid H5956 (NiphPerf) from him; when he knoweth H3045 (QalPerf) [of it], then he shall be guilty H816 (QalPerf) in one H259 of these.

η ψυχη η αν ομοση διαστελλουσα τοις χειλεσιν κακοποιησαι η καλως ποιησαι κατα παντα οσα εαν διαστειλη ο ανθρωπος μεθ ορκου και λαθη αυτον προ οφθαλμων και ουτος γνω και αμαρτη εν τι τουτων

and he shall bring his trespass offering to Yahweh for his sin which he has sinned: a female from the flock, a lamb or a goat, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his sin.

And he shall bring H935 (HiphPerf) his trespass offering H817 unto the Lord H3068 for his sin H2403 which he hath sinned, H2398 (QalPerf) a female H5347 from the flock, H6629 a lamb H3776 or a kid H8166 of the goats, H5795 for a sin offering; H2403 and the priest H3548 shall make an atonement H3722 (PielPerf) for him concerning his sin. και οισει περι ων επλημμελησεν κυριω περι της αμαρτιας ης ημαρτεν θηλυ απο των προβατων αμναδα η χιμαιραν εξ αιγων περι αμαρτιας και εξιλασεται περι αυτου ο ιερευς περι της αμαρτιας αυτου ης ημαρτεν και αφεθησεται αυτω η αμαρτια

“ ‘If he can’t afford a lamb, then he shall bring his trespass offering for that in which he has sinned, two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, to Yahweh; one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering.

And if he H3027 be not able H1767 to bring H5060 (HiphImpf) a lamb, H7716 then he shall bring H935 (HiphPerf) for H854 his trespass, H817 which he hath committed, H2398 (QalPerf) two H8147 turtledoves, H8449 or two H8147 young H1121 pigeons, H3123 unto the Lord; H3068 one H259 for a sin offering, H2403 and the other H259 for a burnt offering. εαν δε μη ισχυση η χειρ αυτου το ικανον εις το προβατον οισει περι της αμαρτιας αυτου ης ημαρτεν δυο τρυγονας η δυο νεοσσους περιστερων κυριω ενα περι αμαρτιας και ενα εις ολοκαυτωμα

“ ‘But if he can’t afford two turtledoves or two young pigeons, then he shall bring as his offering for that in which he has sinned, one tenth of an ephah° of fine flour for a sin offering. He shall put no oil on it, and he shall not put any frankincense on it, for it is a sin offering.

Leviticus 5:11 1 ephah is about 22 liters or about ²⁄₃ of a bushel

εαν δε μη ευρισκη αυτου η χειρ ζευγος τρυγονων η δυο νεοσσους περιστερων και οισει το δωρον αυτου περι ου ημαρτεν το δεκατον του οιφι σεμιδαλιν περι αμαρτιας ουκ επιχεει επ αυτο ελαιον ουδε επιθησει επ αυτο λιβανον οτι περι αμαρτιας εστιν

“If anyone sins, and commits a trespass against Yahweh, and deals falsely with his neighbor in a matter of deposit, or of bargain, or of robbery, or has oppressed his neighbor,

^[5:21] ψυχη εαν αμαρτη και παριδων παριδη τας εντολας κυριου και ψευσηται τα προς τον πλησιον εν παραθηκη η περι κοινωνιας η περι αρπαγης η ηδικησεν τι τον πλησιον

or has found that which was lost, and lied about it, and swearing to a lie—in any of these things that a man sins in his actions—

^[5:22] η ευρεν απωλειαν και ψευσηται περι αυτης και ομοση αδικως περι ενος απο παντων ων εαν ποιηση ο ανθρωπος ωστε αμαρτειν εν τουτοις

then it shall be, if he has sinned, and is guilty, he shall restore that which he took by robbery, or the thing which he has gotten by oppression, or the deposit which was committed to him, or the lost thing which he found,

^[5:23] και εσται ηνικα εαν αμαρτη και πλημμεληση και αποδω το αρπαγμα ο ηρπασεν η το αδικημα ο ηδικησεν η την παραθηκην ητις παρετεθη αυτω η την απωλειαν ην ευρεν

or any thing about which he has sworn falsely: he shall restore it in full, and shall add a fifth part more to it. He shall return it to him to whom it belongs in the day of his being found guilty.

^[5:24] απο παντος πραγματος ου ωμοσεν περι αυτου αδικως και αποτεισει αυτο το κεφαλαιον και το πεμπτον προσθησει επ αυτο τινος εστιν αυτω αποδωσει η ημερα ελεγχθη

“ ‘But if the sacrifice of his offering is a vow, or a free will offering, it shall be eaten on the day that he offers his sacrifice. On the next day what remains of it shall be eaten,

καν ευχη η εκουσιον θυσιαζη το δωρον αυτου η αν ημερα προσαγαγη την θυσιαν αυτου βρωθησεται και τη αυριον

When anyone touches any unclean thing, the uncleanness of man, or an unclean animal, or any unclean abomination, and eats some of the meat of the sacrifice of peace offerings which belong to Yahweh, that soul shall be cut off from his people.’ ”

Moreover the soul H5315 that shall touch H5060 (QalImpf) any unclean H2932 [thing, as] the uncleanness H2932 of man, H120 or [any] unclean H2931 beast, H929 or any abominable H8263 unclean H2931 [thing], and eat H398 (QalPerf) of the flesh H1320 of the sacrifice H2077 of peace offerings, H8002 which [pertain] unto the Lord, H3068 even that soul H5315 shall be cut off H3772 (NiphPerf) from his people. και ψυχη η αν αψηται παντος πραγματος ακαθαρτου η απο ακαθαρσιας ανθρωπου η των τετραποδων των ακαθαρτων η παντος βδελυγματος ακαθαρτου και φαγη απο των κρεων της θυσιας του σωτηριου ο εστιν κυριου απολειται η ψυχη εκεινη εκ του λαου αυτης

Anything they fall on when they are dead shall be unclean; whether it is any vessel of wood, or clothing, or skin, or sack, whatever vessel it is, with which any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the evening. Then it will be clean.

And upon whatsoever [any] of them, when they are dead, H4194 doth fall, H5307 (QalImpf) it shall be unclean; H2930 (QalImpf) whether [it be] any vessel H3627 of wood, H6086 or raiment, H899 or skin, H5785 or sack, H8242 whatsoever vessel H3627 [it be], wherein [any] work H4399 is done, H6213 (NiphImpf) it must be put H935 (HophImpf) into water, H4325 and it shall be unclean H2930 (QalPerf) until the even; H6153 so it shall be cleansed. και παν εφ ο αν επιπεση απ αυτων τεθνηκοτων αυτων ακαθαρτον εσται απο παντος σκευους ξυλινου η ιματιου η δερματος η σακκου παν σκευος ο εαν ποιηθη εργον εν αυτω εις υδωρ βαφησεται και ακαθαρτον εσται εως εσπερας και καθαρον εσται
