Therefore Solomon sought to kill Jeroboam, but Jeroboam arose and fled into Egypt, to Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.

When all Israel heard that Jeroboam had returned, they sent and called him to the congregation, and made him king over all Israel. There was no one who followed David’s house, except for the tribe of Judah only.

Jeroboam said in his heart, “Now the kingdom will return to David’s house.

Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like the feast that is in Judah, and he went up to the altar. He did so in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he had made, and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places that he had made.

Behold, a man of God came out of Judah by Yahweh’s word to Bethel; and Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense.

After this thing, Jeroboam didn’t turn from his evil way, but again made priests of the high places from among all the people. Whoever wanted to, he consecrated him, that there might be priests of the high places.

This thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off and to destroy it from off the surface of the earth.

Jeroboam said to his wife, “Please get up and disguise yourself, so that you won’t be recognized as Jeroboam’s wife. Go to Shiloh. Behold, Ahijah the prophet is there, who said that I would be king over this people.

Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose and went to Shiloh, and came to Ahijah’s house. Now Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

Yahweh said to Ahijah, “Behold, Jeroboam’s wife is coming to inquire of you concerning her son, for he is sick. Tell her such and such; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman.”

So when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet as she came in at the door, he said, “Come in, Jeroboam’s wife! Why do you pretend to be another? For I am sent to you with heavy news.

And it was so, when Ahijah H281 heard H8085 (QalInf) the sound H6963 of her feet, H7272 as she came in H935 (QalActPtc) at the door, H6607 that he said, H559 (QalImpf) Come in, H935 (QalImpv) thou wife H802 of Jeroboam; H3379 why feignest thou thyself to be another? Go, tell Jeroboam, ‘Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: “Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you prince over my people Israel,

All Israel will mourn for him and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam will come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward Yahweh, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

Moreover Yahweh will raise up a king for himself over Israel who will cut off the house of Jeroboam. This is the day! What? Even now.

Moreover the Lord H3068 shall raise him up H6965 (HiphPerf) a king H4428 over Israel, H3478 who shall cut off H3772 (HiphImpf) the house H1004 of Jeroboam H3379 that day: H3117 but what? even now.

He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he has sinned, and with which he has made Israel to sin.”

Jeroboam’s wife arose and departed, and came to Tirzah. As she came to the threshold of the house, the child died.

The days which Jeroboam reigned were twenty two years; then he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his place.

και εποιησεν το πονηρον ενωπιον κυριου και επορευθη εν οδω ιεροβοαμ υιου ναβατ και εν ταις αμαρτιαις αυτου ως εξημαρτεν τον ισραηλ

“Because I exalted you out of the dust and made you prince over my people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins,

Forasmuch as I exalted H7311 (HiphPerf) thee out of the dust, H6083 and made H5414 (QalImpf) thee prince H5057 over my people H5971 Israel; H3478 and thou hast walked H3212 (QalImpf) in the way H1870 of Jeroboam, H3379 and hast made my people H5971 Israel H3478 to sin, H2398 (HiphImpf) to provoke me to anger H3707 (HiphInf) with their sins; H2403

ανθ ων υψωσα σε απο της γης και εδωκα σε ηγουμενον επι τον λαον μου ισραηλ και επορευθης εν τη οδω ιεροβοαμ και εξημαρτες τον λαον μου τον ισραηλ του παροργισαι με εν τοις ματαιοις αυτων

behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house; and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

behold, I will take away H1197 (HiphImpf) the posterity H310 of Baasha, H1201 and the posterity H310 of his house; H1004 and will make H5414 (QalPerf) thy house H1004 like the house H1004 of Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Nebat. H5028

ιδου εγω εξεγειρω οπισω βαασα και οπισθεν του οικου αυτου και δωσω τον οικον σου ως τον οικον ιεροβοαμ υιου ναβατ

Moreover Yahweh’s word came by the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha and against his house, both because of all the evil that he did in Yahweh’s sight, to provoke him to anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam, and because he struck him.

And also by the hand H3027 of the prophet H5030 Jehu H3058 the son H1121 of Hanani H2607 came the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 against Baasha, H1201 and against his house, H1004 even for all the evil H7451 that he did H6213 (QalPerf) in the sight H5869 of the Lord, H3068 in provoking him to anger H3707 (HiphInf) with the work H4639 of his hands, H3027 in being like the house H1004 of Jeroboam; H3379 and because he killed H5221 (HiphPerf) him.

και εν χειρι ιου υιου ανανι ελαλησεν κυριος επι βαασα και επι τον οικον αυτου πασαν την κακιαν ην εποιησεν ενωπιον κυριου του παροργισαι αυτον εν τοις εργοις των χειρων αυτου του ειναι κατα τον οικον ιεροβοαμ και υπερ του παταξαι αυτον

for his sins which he sinned in doing that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, in walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he did to make Israel to sin.

for his sins H2403 which he sinned H2398 (QalPerf) in doing H6213 (QalInf) evil H7451 in the sight H5869 of the Lord, H3068 in walking H3212 (QalInf) in the way H1870 of Jeroboam, H3379 and in his sin H2403 which he did, H6213 (QalPerf) to make Israel H3478 to sin. H2398 (HiphInf)

υπερ των αμαρτιων αυτου ων εποιησεν του ποιησαι το πονηρον ενωπιον κυριου πορευθηναι εν οδω ιεροβοαμ υιου ναβατ και εν ταις αμαρτιαις αυτου ως εξημαρτεν τον ισραηλ

For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sins with which he made Israel to sin, to provoke Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities.

For he walked H3212 (QalImpf) in all the way H1870 of Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Nebat, H5028 and in his sin H2403 wherewith he made Israel H3478 to sin, H2398 (HiphPerf) to provoke the Lord H3068 God H430 of Israel H3478 to anger H3707 (HiphInf) with their vanities. H1892

και επορευθη εν παση οδω ιεροβοαμ υιου ναβατ και εν ταις αμαρτιαις αυτου αις εξημαρτεν τον ισραηλ του παροργισαι τον κυριον θεον ισραηλ εν τοις ματαιοις αυτων

As if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, he took as wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal and worshiped him.

And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing^§ H7043 (NiphPerf) for him to walk H3212 (QalInf) in the sins H2403 of Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Nebat, H5028 that he took H3947 (QalImpf) to wife H802 Jezebel H348 the daughter H1323 of Ethbaal H856 king H4428 of the Zidonians, H6722 and went H3212 (QalImpf) and served H5647 (QalImpf) Baal, H1168 and worshipped H7812 (HithImpf) him.

I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation with which you have provoked me to anger, and have made Israel to sin.”

and will make H5414 (QalPerf) thine house H1004 like the house H1004 of Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Nebat, H5028 and like the house H1004 of Baasha H1201 the son H1121 of Ahijah, H281 for the provocation H3708 wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger, H3707 (HiphPerf) and made Israel H3478 to sin. H2398 (HiphImpf)

He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, in which he made Israel to sin.

And he did H6213 (QalImpf) evil H7451 in the sight H5869 of the Lord, H3068 and walked H3212 (QalImpf) in the way H1870 of his father, H1 and in the way H1870 of his mother, H517 and in the way H1870 of Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Nebat, H5028 who made Israel H3478 to sin: H2398 (HiphPerf)

Nevertheless he held to the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin. He didn’t depart from them.

Nevertheless he cleaved H1692 (QalPerf) unto the sins H2403 of Jeroboam H3379 the son H1121 of Nebat, H5028 which made Israel H3478 to sin; H2398 (HiphPerf) he departed H5493 (QalPerf) not therefrom.

I will make Ahab’s house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah.
