Now Elisha became sick with the illness of which he died; and Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept over him, and said, “My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!”

Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Joash struck him three times, and recovered the cities of Israel.

και επεστρεψεν ιωας υιος ιωαχας και ελαβεν τας πολεις εκ χειρος υιου αδερ υιου αζαηλ ας ελαβεν εκ χειρος ιωαχας του πατρος αυτου εν τω πολεμω τρις επαταξεν αυτον ιωας και επεστρεψεν τας πολεις ισραηλ

He did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, yet not like David his father. He did according to all that Joash his father had done.

και εποιησεν το ευθες εν οφθαλμοις κυριου πλην ουχ ως δαυιδ ο πατηρ αυτου κατα παντα οσα εποιησεν ιωας ο πατηρ αυτου εποιησεν

As soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, he killed his servants who had slain the king his father,

και εγενετο οτε κατισχυσεν η βασιλεια εν χειρι αυτου και επαταξεν τους δουλους αυτου τους παταξαντας τον πατερα αυτου

but the children of the murderers he didn’t put to death, according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, as Yahweh commanded, saying, “The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.”

και τους υιους των παταξαντων ουκ εθανατωσεν καθως γεγραπται εν βιβλιω νομων μωυση ως ενετειλατο κυριος λεγων ουκ αποθανουνται πατερες υπερ υιων και υιοι ουκ αποθανουνται υπερ πατερων οτι αλλ η εκαστος εν ταις αμαρτιαις αυτου αποθανειται

Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his place.

They brought him on horses, and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in David’s city.

All the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the place of his father Amaziah.

και εποιησεν το ευθες εν οφθαλμοις κυριου κατα παντα οσα εποιησεν αμεσσιας ο πατηρ αυτου

Azariah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in David’s city; and Jotham his son reigned in his place.

So Azariah H5838 slept H7901 (QalImpf) with his fathers; H1 and they buried H6912 (QalImpf) him with his fathers H1 in the city H5892 of David: H1732 and Jotham H3147 his son H1121 reigned H4427 (QalImpf) in his stead.

και εκοιμηθη αζαριας μετα των πατερων αυτου και εθαψαν αυτον μετα των πατερων αυτου εν πολει δαυιδ και εβασιλευσεν ιωαθαμ υιος αυτου αντ αυτου

He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, as his fathers had done. He didn’t depart from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin.

και εποιησεν το πονηρον εν οφθαλμοις κυριου καθα εποιησαν οι πατερες αυτου ουκ απεστη απο αμαρτιων ιεροβοαμ υιου ναβατ ος εξημαρτεν τον ισραηλ

Menahem slept with his fathers, and Pekahiah his son reigned in his place.

και εκοιμηθη ιωαθαμ μετα των πατερων αυτου και εταφη μετα των πατερων αυτου εν πολει δαυιδ του πατρος αυτου και εβασιλευσεν αχαζ υιος αυτου αντ αυτου

Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. He didn’t do that which was right in Yahweh his God’s eyes, like David his father.

υιος εικοσι ετων ην αχαζ εν τω βασιλευειν αυτον και εκκαιδεκα ετη εβασιλευσεν εν ιερουσαλημ και ουκ εποιησεν το ευθες εν οφθαλμοις κυριου θεου αυτου πιστως ως δαυιδ ο πατηρ αυτου

Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in David’s city; and Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.

Yet Yahweh testified to Israel and to Judah, by every prophet and every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”

και διεμαρτυρατο κυριος εν τω ισραηλ και εν τω ιουδα εν χειρι παντων των προφητων αυτου παντος ορωντος λεγων αποστραφητε απο των οδων υμων των πονηρων και φυλαξατε τας εντολας μου και τα δικαιωματα μου και παντα τον νομον ον ενετειλαμην τοις πατρασιν υμων οσα απεστειλα αυτοις εν χειρι των δουλων μου των προφητων

Notwithstanding, they would not listen, but hardened their neck like the neck of their fathers who didn’t believe in Yahweh their God.

Notwithstanding they would not hear, H8085 (QalPerf) but hardened H7185 (HiphImpf) their necks, H6203 like to the neck H6203 of their fathers, H1 that did not believe H539 (HiphPerf) in the Lord H3068 their God. H430

και ουκ ηκουσαν και εσκληρυναν τον νωτον αυτων υπερ τον νωτον των πατερων αυτων

They rejected his statutes and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified to them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom Yahweh had commanded them that they should not do like them.

και τα μαρτυρια αυτου οσα διεμαρτυρατο αυτοις ουκ εφυλαξαν και επορευθησαν οπισω των ματαιων και εματαιωθησαν και οπισω των εθνων των περικυκλω αυτων ων ενετειλατο αυτοις του μη ποιησαι κατα ταυτα

So these nations feared Yahweh, and also served their engraved images. Their children did likewise, and so did their children’s children. They do as their fathers did to this day.

So these nations H1471 feared H3373 the Lord, H3068 and served H5647 (QalActPtc) their graven images, H6456 both their children, H1121 and their children’s H1121 children: H1121 as did H6213 (QalPerf) their fathers, H1 so do H6213 (QalActPtc) they unto this day. H3117

και ησαν τα εθνη ταυτα φοβουμενοι τον κυριον και τοις γλυπτοις αυτων ησαν δουλευοντες και γε οι υιοι και οι υιοι των υιων αυτων καθα εποιησαν οι πατερες αυτων ποιουσιν εως της ημερας ταυτης

He did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, according to all that David his father had done.

Have the gods of the nations delivered them, which my fathers have destroyed—Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the children of Eden who were in Telassar?

μη εξειλαντο αυτους οι θεοι των εθνων ους διεφθειραν οι πατερες μου την τε γωζαν και την χαρραν και ραφες και υιους εδεμ τους εν θαεσθεν

“Turn back, and tell Hezekiah the prince of my people, ‘Yahweh, the God of David your father, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day, you will go up to Yahweh’s house.

επιστρεψον και ερεις προς εζεκιαν τον ηγουμενον του λαου μου ταδε λεγει κυριος ο θεος δαυιδ του πατρος σου ηκουσα της προσευχης σου ειδον τα δακρυα σου ιδου εγω ιασομαι σε τη ημερα τη τριτη αναβηση εις οικον κυριου

‘Behold, the days come that all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have laid up in store to this day, will be carried to Babylon. Nothing will be left,’ says Yahweh.

For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he raised up altars for Baal, and made an Asherah, as Ahab king of Israel did, and worshiped all the army of the sky, and served them.

και επεστρεψεν και ωκοδομησεν τα υψηλα α κατεσπασεν εζεκιας ο πατηρ αυτου και ανεστησεν θυσιαστηριον τη βααλ και εποιησεν αλση καθως εποιησεν αχααβ βασιλευς ισραηλ και προσεκυνησεν παση τη δυναμει του ουρανου και εδουλευσεν αυτοις

I will not cause the feet of Israel to wander any more out of the land which I gave their fathers, if only they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.”

και ου προσθησω του σαλευσαι τον ποδα ισραηλ απο της γης ης εδωκα τοις πατρασιν αυτων οιτινες φυλαξουσιν παντα οσα ενετειλαμην κατα πασαν την εντολην ην ενετειλατο αυτοις ο δουλος μου μωυσης

because they have done that which is evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger since the day their fathers came out of Egypt, even to this day.’ ”

Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza; and Amon his son reigned in his place.

He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, as Manasseh his father did.

και εποιησεν το πονηρον εν οφθαλμοις κυριου καθως εποιησεν μανασσης ο πατηρ αυτου

He walked in all the ways that his father walked in, and served the idols that his father served, and worshiped them;

and he abandoned Yahweh, the God of his fathers, and didn’t walk in the way of Yahweh.

και εγκατελιπεν τον κυριον θεον των πατερων αυτου και ουκ επορευθη εν οδω κυριου

He did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, and walked in all the ways of David his father, and didn’t turn away to the right hand or to the left.

και εποιησεν το ευθες εν οφθαλμοις κυριου και επορευθη εν παση οδω δαυιδ του πατρος αυτου ουκ απεστη δεξια η αριστερα

“Go inquire of Yahweh for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found; for great is Yahweh’s wrath that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not listened to the words of this book, to do according to all that which is written concerning us.”

δευτε εκζητησατε τον κυριον περι εμου και περι παντος του λαου και περι παντος του ιουδα περι των λογων του βιβλιου του ευρεθεντος τουτου οτι μεγαλη η οργη κυριου η εκκεκαυμενη εν ημιν υπερ ου ουκ ηκουσαν οι πατερες ημων των λογων του βιβλιου τουτου του ποιειν κατα παντα τα γεγραμμενα καθ ημων

‘Therefore behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes will not see all the evil which I will bring on this place.’ ” ’ ” So they brought this message back to the king.

ουχ ουτως ιδου εγω προστιθημι σε προς τους πατερας σου και συναχθηση εις τον ταφον σου εν ειρηνη και ουκ οφθησεται εν τοις οφθαλμοις σου εν πασιν τοις κακοις οις εγω ειμι επαγω επι τον τοπον τουτον και επεστρεψαν τω βασιλει το ρημα
