και ουτοι οι αναβαντες απο θελμελεθ θελαρησα χαρουβ ηδαν εμμηρ και ουκ ηδυνασθησαν του αναγγειλαι οικον πατριας αυτων και σπερμα αυτων ει εξ ισραηλ εισιν

Some of the heads of fathers’ households, when they came to Yahweh’s house which is in Jerusalem, offered willingly for God’s house to set it up in its place.

και απο αρχοντων πατριων εν τω ελθειν αυτους εις οικον κυριου τον εν ιερουσαλημ ηκουσιασαντο εις οικον του θεου του στησαι αυτον επι την ετοιμασιαν αυτου

Now in the second year of their coming to God’s house at Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the rest of their brothers the priests and the Levites, and all those who had come out of the captivity to Jerusalem, began the work and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to have the oversight of the work of Yahweh’s house.

They sang to one another in praising and giving thanks to Yahweh, “For he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever toward Israel.” All the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised Yahweh, because the foundation of Yahweh’s house had been laid.

But many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers’ households, the old men who had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice. Many also shouted aloud for joy,

και πολλοι απο των ιερεων και των λευιτων και αρχοντες των πατριων οι πρεσβυτεροι οι ειδοσαν τον οικον τον πρωτον εν θεμελιωσει αυτου και τουτον τον οικον εν οφθαλμοις αυτων εκλαιον φωνη μεγαλη και οχλος εν σημασια μετ ευφροσυνης του υψωσαι ωδην

But Zerubbabel, Jeshua, and the rest of the heads of fathers’ households of Israel said to them, “You have nothing to do with us in building a house to our God; but we ourselves together will build to Yahweh, the God of Israel, as King Cyrus the king of Persia has commanded us.”

and kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy; because Yahweh had made them joyful, and had turned the heart of the king of Assyria to them, to strengthen their hands in the work of God, the God of Israel’s house.

και εποιησαν την εορτην των αζυμων επτα ημερας εν ευφροσυνη οτι ευφρανεν αυτους κυριος και επεστρεψεν καρδιαν βασιλεως ασσουρ επ αυτους κραταιωσαι τας χειρας αυτων εν εργοις οικου του θεου ισραηλ

Blessed be Yahweh, the God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to beautify Yahweh’s house which is in Jerusalem;

and weighed to them the silver, the gold, and the vessels, even the offering for the house of our God, which the king, his counselors, his princes, and all Israel there present, had offered.

Watch and keep them until you weigh them before the chiefs of the priests, the Levites, and the princes of the fathers’ households of Israel at Jerusalem, in the rooms of Yahweh’s house.”

αγρυπνειτε και τηρειτε εως στητε ενωπιον αρχοντων των ιερεων και των λευιτων και των αρχοντων των πατριων εν ιερουσαλημ εις σκηνας οικου κυριου

So the priests and the Levites received the weight of the silver, the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem to the house of our God.

On the fourth day the silver and the gold and the vessels were weighed in the house of our God into the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them were Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, the Levites.

Now on the fourth H7243 day H3117 was the silver H3701 and the gold H2091 and the vessels H3627 weighed H8254 (NiphPerf) in the house H1004 of our God H430 by the hand H3027 of Meremoth H4822 the son H1121 of Uriah H223 the priest; H3548 and with him [was] Eleazar H499 the son H1121 of Phinehas; H6372 and with them [was] Jozabad H3107 the son H1121 of Jeshua, H3442 and Noadiah H5129 the son H1121 of Binnui, H1131 Levites; H3881

και εγενηθη τη ημερα τη τεταρτη εστησαμεν το αργυριον και το χρυσιον και τα σκευη εν οικω θεου ημων επι χειρα μεριμωθ υιου ουρια του ιερεως και μετ αυτου ελεαζαρ υιος φινεες και μετ αυτων ιωζαβαδ υιος ιησου και νωαδια υιος βαναια οι λευιται

They delivered the king’s commissions to the king’s local governors and to the governors beyond the River. So they supported the people and God’s house.

And they delivered H5414 (QalImpf) the king’s H4428 commissions H1881 unto the king’s H4428 lieutenants, H323 and to the governors H6346 on this side H5676 the river: H5104 and they furthered H5375 (PielPerf) the people, H5971 and the house H1004 of God. H430

και εδωκαν το νομισμα του βασιλεως τοις διοικηταις του βασιλεως και επαρχοις περαν του ποταμου και εδοξασαν τον λαον και τον οικον του θεου

For we are bondservants; yet our God has not forsaken us in our bondage, but has extended loving kindness to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to revive us, to set up the house of our God, and to repair its ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.

For we [were] bondmen; H5650 yet our God H430 hath not forsaken H5800 (QalPerf) us in our bondage, H5659 but hath extended H5186 (HiphImpf) mercy H2617 unto us in the sight H6440 of the kings H4428 of Persia, H6539 to give H5414 (QalInf) us a reviving, H4241 to set up H7311 (PoleInf) the house H1004 of our God, H430 and to repair H5975 (HiphInf) the desolations H2723 thereof, and to give H5414 (QalInf) us a wall H1447 in Judah H3063 and in Jerusalem. οτι δουλοι εσμεν και εν τη δουλεια ημων ουκ εγκατελιπεν ημας κυριος ο θεος ημων και εκλινεν εφ ημας ελεος ενωπιον βασιλεων περσων δουναι ημιν ζωοποιησιν του υψωσαι αυτους τον οικον του θεου ημων και αναστησαι τα ερημα αυτης και του δουναι ημιν φραγμον εν ιουδα και εν ιερουσαλημ

Now while Ezra prayed and made confession, weeping and casting himself down before God’s house, there was gathered together to him out of Israel a very great assembly of men and women and children; for the people wept very bitterly.

και ως προσηυξατο εσδρας και ως εξηγορευσεν κλαιων και προσευχομενος ενωπιον οικου του θεου συνηχθησαν προς αυτον απο ισραηλ εκκλησια πολλη σφοδρα ανδρες και γυναικες και νεανισκοι οτι εκλαυσεν ο λαος και υψωσεν κλαιων

Then Ezra rose up from before God’s house, and went into the room of Jehohanan the son of Eliashib. When he came there, he didn’t eat bread or drink water, for he mourned because of the trespass of the exiles.

Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together to Jerusalem within the three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the wide place in front of God’s house, trembling because of this matter, and because of the great rain.

και συνηχθησαν παντες ανδρες ιουδα και βενιαμιν εις ιερουσαλημ εις τας τρεις ημερας ουτος ο μην ο ενατος εν εικαδι του μηνος εκαθισεν πας ο λαος εν πλατεια οικου του θεου απο θορυβου αυτων περι του ρηματος και απο του χειμωνος

The children of the captivity did so. Ezra the priest, with certain heads of fathers’ households, after their fathers’ houses, and all of them by their names, were set apart; and they sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.

εστω δη το ους σου προσεχον και οι οφθαλμοι σου ανεωγμενοι του ακουσαι προσευχην δουλου σου ην εγω προσευχομαι ενωπιον σου σημερον ημεραν και νυκτα περι υιων ισραηλ δουλων σου και εξαγορευω επι αμαρτιαις υιων ισραηλ ας ημαρτομεν σοι και εγω και ο οικος πατρος μου ημαρτομεν

I said to the king, “Let the king live forever! Why shouldn’t my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ tombs, lies waste, and its gates have been consumed with fire?”

and a letter to Asaph the keeper of the king’s forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple, for the wall of the city, and for the house that I will occupy.” The king granted my requests, because of the good hand of my God on me.

And a letter H107 unto Asaph H623 the keeper H8104 (QalActPtc) of the king’s H4428 forest, H6508 that he may give H5414 (QalImpf) me timber H6086 to make beams H7136 (PielInf) for the gates H8179 of the palace H1002 which [appertained] to the house, H1004 and for the wall H2346 of the city, H5892 and for the house H1004 that I shall enter into. Next to them, Jedaiah the son of Harumaph made repairs across from his house. Next to him, Hattush the son of Hashabneiah made repairs.

After him, Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of half the district of Beth Zur, made repairs to the place opposite the tombs of David, and to the pool that was made, and to the house of the mighty men.

After him, Baruch the son of Zabbai earnestly repaired another portion, from the turning of the wall to the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest.

μετ αυτον εκρατησεν βαρουχ υιος ζαβου μετρον δευτερον απο της γωνιας εως θυρας βηθελισουβ του ιερεως του μεγαλου

After him, Meremoth the son of Uriah the son of Hakkoz repaired another portion, from the door of the house of Eliashib even to the end of the house of Eliashib.
