What has my beloved to do in my house, since she has behaved lewdly with many, and the holy flesh has passed from you? When you do evil, then you rejoice.”

τι η ηγαπημενη εν τω οικω μου εποιησεν βδελυγμα μη ευχαι και κρεα αγια αφελουσιν απο σου τας κακιας σου η τουτοις διαφευξη

For Yahweh of Armies, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you, because of the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done to themselves in provoking me to anger by offering incense to Baal.

For even your brothers, and the house of your father, even they have dealt treacherously with you! Even they have cried aloud after you! Don’t believe them, though they speak beautiful words to you.

οτι και οι αδελφοι σου και ο οικος του πατρος σου και ουτοι ηθετησαν σε και αυτοι εβοησαν εκ των οπισω σου επισυνηχθησαν μη πιστευσης εν αυτοις οτι λαλησουσιν προς σε καλα

“I have forsaken my house. I have cast off my heritage. I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.

I have forsaken H5800 (QalPerf) mine house, H1004 I have left H5203 (QalPerf) mine heritage; H5159 I have given H5414 (QalPerf) the dearly beloved H3033 of my soul H5315 into the hand H3709 of her enemies. H341 (QalActPtc)

εγκαταλελοιπα τον οικον μου αφηκα την κληρονομιαν μου εδωκα την ηγαπημενην ψυχην μου εις χειρας εχθρων αυτης

Yahweh says, “Concerning all my evil neighbors, who touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit: Behold, I will pluck them up from off their land, and will pluck up the house of Judah from among them.

οτι ταδε λεγει κυριος περι παντων των γειτονων των πονηρων των απτομενων της κληρονομιας μου ης εμερισα τω λαω μου ισραηλ ιδου εγω αποσπω αυτους απο της γης αυτων και τον ιουδαν εκβαλω εκ μεσου αυτων

For as the belt clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to me,’ says Yahweh; ‘that they may be to me for a people, for a name, for praise, and for glory; but they would not hear.’

For Yahweh says, “Don’t enter into the house of mourning. Don’t go to lament. Don’t bemoan them, for I have taken away my peace from this people,” says Yahweh, “even loving kindness and tender mercies.

“You shall not go into the house of feasting to sit with them, to eat and to drink.”

και μη εκφερετε βασταγματα εξ οικιων υμων εν τη ημερα των σαββατων και παν εργον ου ποιησετε αγιασατε την ημεραν των σαββατων καθως ενετειλαμην τοις πατρασιν υμων και ουκ ηκουσαν και ουκ εκλιναν το ους αυτων

They will come from the cities of Judah, and from the places around Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, from the lowland, from the hill country, and from the South, bringing burnt offerings, sacrifices, meal offerings, and frankincense, and bringing sacrifices of thanksgiving to Yahweh’s house.

και ηξουσιν εκ των πολεων ιουδα και κυκλοθεν ιερουσαλημ και εκ γης βενιαμιν και εκ της πεδινης και εκ του ορους και εκ της προς νοτον φεροντες ολοκαυτωματα και θυσιαν και θυμιαματα και μαναα και λιβανον φεροντες αινεσιν εις οικον κυριου

“Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear my words.”

αναστηθι και καταβηθι εις οικον του κεραμεως και εκει ακουση τους λογους μου

Then I went down to the potter’s house, and behold, he was making something on the wheels.

“House of Israel, can’t I do with you as this potter?” says Yahweh. “Behold, as the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, house of Israel.

ει καθως ο κεραμευς ουτος ου δυνησομαι του ποιησαι υμας οικος ισραηλ ιδου ως ο πηλος του κεραμεως υμεις εστε εν ταις χερσιν μου

Let a cry be heard from their houses when you bring a troop suddenly on them; for they have dug a pit to take me and hidden snares for my feet.

The houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah, which are defiled, will be as the place of Topheth, even all the houses on whose roofs they have burned incense to all the army of the sky and have poured out drink offerings to other gods.” ’ ”

Then Jeremiah came from Topheth, where Yahweh had sent him to prophesy, and he stood in the court of Yahweh’s house, and said to all the people:

Now Pashhur, the son of Immer the priest, who was chief officer in Yahweh’s house, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things.

Now Pashur H6583 the son H1121 of Immer H564 the priest, H3548 who [was] also chief H6496 governor H5057 in the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 heard H8085 (QalImpf) that Jeremiah H3414 prophesied H5012 (NiphPerf) these things. H1697

και ηκουσεν πασχωρ υιος εμμηρ ο ιερευς και ουτος ην καθεσταμενος ηγουμενος οικου κυριου του ιερεμιου προφητευοντος τους λογους τουτους

Then Pashhur struck Jeremiah the prophet and put him in the stocks that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, which was in Yahweh’s house.

You, Pashhur, and all who dwell in your house will go into captivity. You will come to Babylon, and there you will die, and there you will be buried, you, and all your friends, to whom you have prophesied falsely.’ ”

“Concerning the house of the king of Judah, hear Yahweh’s word:

And touching the house H1004 of the king H4428 of Judah, H3063 [say], Hear H8085 (QalImpv) ye the word H1697 of the Lord; H3068

ο οικος βασιλεως ιουδα ακουσατε λογον κυριου

House of David, Yahweh says, ‘Execute justice in the morning, and deliver him who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my wrath go out like fire, and burn so that no one can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

οικος δαυιδ ταδε λεγει κυριος κρινατε το πρωι κριμα και κατευθυνατε και εξελεσθε διηρπασμενον εκ χειρος αδικουντος αυτον οπως μη αναφθη ως πυρ η οργη μου και καυθησεται και ουκ εσται ο σβεσων

Yahweh said, “Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak this word there:

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Go down H3381 (QalImpv) to the house H1004 of the king H4428 of Judah, H3063 and speak H1696 (PielPerf) there this word, H1697

ταδε λεγει κυριος πορευου και καταβηθι εις τον οικον του βασιλεως ιουδα και λαλησεις εκει τον λογον τουτον

For if you do this thing indeed, then kings sitting on David’s throne will enter in by the gates of this house, riding in chariots and on horses—they, their servants, and their people.

For if ye do H6213 (QalImpf) this thing H1697 indeed, H6213 (QalInf) then shall there enter in H935 (QalPerf) by the gates H8179 of this house H1004 kings H4428 sitting H3427 (QalActPtc) upon the throne H3678 of David, H1732 riding H7392 (QalActPtc) in chariots H7393 and on horses, H5483 he, and his servants, H5650 and his people. διοτι εαν ποιουντες ποιησητε τον λογον τουτον και εισελευσονται εν ταις πυλαις του οικου τουτου βασιλεις καθημενοι επι θρονου δαυιδ και επιβεβηκοτες εφ αρματων και ιππων αυτοι και οι παιδες αυτων και ο λαος αυτων

But if you will not hear these words, I swear by myself,” says Yahweh, “that this house will become a desolation.” ’ ”

But if ye will not hear H8085 (QalImpf) these words, H1697 I swear H7650 (NiphPerf) by myself, saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord, H3068 that this house H1004 shall become a desolation. H2723

εαν δε μη ποιησητε τους λογους τουτους κατ εμαυτου ωμοσα λεγει κυριος οτι εις ερημωσιν εσται ο οικος ουτος

For Yahweh says concerning the house of the king of Judah: “You are Gilead to me, the head of Lebanon. Yet surely I will make you a wilderness, cities which are not inhabited.

For thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 unto the king’s H4428 house H1004 of Judah; H3063 Thou [art] Gilead H1568 unto me, [and] the head H7218 of Lebanon: H3844 [yet] surely I will make H7896 (QalImpf) thee a wilderness, H4057 [and] cities H5892 [which] are not inhabited. οτι ταδε λεγει κυριος κατα του οικου βασιλεως ιουδα γαλααδ συ μοι αρχη του λιβανου εαν μη θω σε εις ερημον πολεις μη κατοικηθησομενας

“Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his rooms by injustice; who uses his neighbor’s service without wages, and doesn’t give him his hire;

ω ο οικοδομων οικιαν αυτου ου μετα δικαιοσυνης και τα υπερωα αυτου ουκ εν κριματι παρα τω πλησιον αυτου εργαται δωρεαν και τον μισθον αυτου ου μη αποδωσει αυτω

who says, ‘I will build myself a wide house and spacious rooms,’ and cuts out windows for himself, with a cedar ceiling, and painted with red.

That saith, H559 (QalActPtc) I will build H1129 (QalImpf) me a wide H4060 house H1004 and large H7304 (PualPtc) chambers, H5944 and cutteth him out H7167 (QalPerf) windows; H2474 and [it is] cieled H5603 (QalPasPtc) with cedar, H730 and painted H4886 (QalInf) with vermilion. H8350

ωκοδομησας σεαυτω οικον συμμετρον υπερωα ριπιστα διεσταλμενα θυρισιν και εξυλωμενα εν κεδρω και κεχρισμενα εν μιλτω

but, ‘As Yahweh lives, who brought up and who led the offspring of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all the countries where I had driven them.’ Then they will dwell in their own land.”

But, The Lord H3068 liveth, H2416 which brought up H5927 (HiphPerf) and which led H935 (HiphPerf) the seed H2233 of the house H1004 of Israel H3478 out of the north H6828 country, H776 and from all countries H776 whither I had driven H5080 (HiphPerf) them; and they shall dwell H3427 (QalPerf) in their own land. αλλα ζη κυριος ος συνηγαγεν απαν το σπερμα ισραηλ απο γης βορρα και απο πασων των χωρων ου εξωσεν αυτους εκει και απεκατεστησεν αυτους εις την γην αυτων

for both prophet and priest are profane. Yes, in my house I have found their wickedness,” says Yahweh.

οτι ιερευς και προφητης εμολυνθησαν και εν τω οικω μου ειδον πονηριας αυτων

As for the prophet, the priest, and the people, who say, ‘The message from Yahweh,’ I will even punish that man and his household.

And [as for] the prophet, H5030 and the priest, H3548 and the people, H5971 that shall say, H559 (QalImpf) The burden H4853 of the Lord, H3068 I will even punish H6485 (QalPerf) that man H376 and his house. H1004

και ο προφητης και ο ιερευς και ο λαος οι αν ειπωσιν λημμα κυριου και εκδικησω τον ανθρωπον εκεινον και τον οικον αυτου

“Yahweh says: ‘Stand in the court of Yahweh’s house, and speak to all the cities of Judah which come to worship in Yahweh’s house, all the words that I command you to speak to them. Don’t omit a word.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Stand H5975 (QalImpv) in the court H2691 of the Lord’s H3068 house, H1004 and speak H1696 (PielPerf) unto all the cities H5892 of Judah, H3063 which come H935 (QalActPtc) to worship H7812 (HithInf) in the Lord’s H3068 house, H1004 all the words H1697 that I command H6680 (PielPerf) thee to speak H1696 (PielInf) unto them; diminish H1639 (QalImpf) not a word: H1697

^[33:2] ουτως ειπεν κυριος στηθι εν αυλη οικου κυριου και χρηματιεις απασι τοις ιουδαιοις και πασι τοις ερχομενοις προσκυνειν εν οικω κυριου απαντας τους λογους ους συνεταξα σοι αυτοις χρηματισαι μη αφελης ρημα

then I will make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.’ ”

Then will I make H5414 (QalPerf) this house H1004 like Shiloh, H7887 and will make H5414 (QalImpf) this city H5892 a curse H7045 to all the nations H1471 of the earth. H776

^[33:6] και δωσω τον οικον τουτον ωσπερ σηλωμ και την πολιν δωσω εις καταραν πασιν τοις εθνεσιν πασης της γης

The priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in Yahweh’s house.

So the priests H3548 and the prophets H5030 and all the people H5971 heard H8085 (QalImpf) Jeremiah H3414 speaking H1696 (PielPtc) these words H1697 in the house H1004 of the Lord. H3068

^[33:7] και ηκουσαν οι ιερεις και οι ψευδοπροφηται και πας ο λαος του ιερεμιου λαλουντος τους λογους τουτους εν οικω κυριου

Why have you prophesied in Yahweh’s name, saying, ‘This house will be like Shiloh, and this city will be desolate, without inhabitant’?” All the people were crowded around Jeremiah in Yahweh’s house.

Why hast thou prophesied H5012 (NiphPerf) in the name H8034 of the Lord, H3068 saying, H559 (QalInf) This house H1004 shall be like Shiloh, H7887 and this city H5892 shall be desolate H2717 (QalImpf) without an inhabitant? H3427 (QalActPtc) And all the people H5971 were gathered H6950 (NiphImpf) against Jeremiah H3414 in the house H1004 of the Lord. H3068

^[33:9] οτι επροφητευσας τω ονοματι κυριου λεγων ωσπερ σηλωμ εσται ο οικος ουτος και η πολις αυτη ερημωθησεται απο κατοικουντων και εξεκκλησιασθη πας ο λαος επι ιερεμιαν εν οικω κυριου

When the princes of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king’s house to Yahweh’s house; and they sat in the entry of the new gate of Yahweh’s house.

When the princes H8269 of Judah H3063 heard H8085 (QalImpf) these things, H1697 then they came up H5927 (QalImpf) from the king’s H4428 house H1004 unto the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and sat down H3427 (QalImpf) in the entry H6607 of the new H2319 gate H8179 of the Lord’s H3068 [house].

^[33:10] και ηκουσαν οι αρχοντες ιουδα τον λογον τουτον και ανεβησαν εξ οικου του βασιλεως εις οικον κυριου και εκαθισαν εν προθυροις πυλης κυριου της καινης

Then Jeremiah spoke to all the princes and to all the people, saying, “Yahweh sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard.

^[33:12] και ειπεν ιερεμιας προς τους αρχοντας και παντι τω λαω λεγων κυριος απεστειλεν με προφητευσαι επι τον οικον τουτον και επι την πολιν ταυτην παντας τους λογους τουτους ους ηκουσατε

“Micah the Morashtite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies says: “ ‘Zion will be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem will become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.’

^[33:18] μιχαιας ο μωραθιτης ην εν ταις ημεραις εζεκιου βασιλεως ιουδα και ειπεν παντι τω λαω ιουδα ουτως ειπεν κυριος σιων ως αγρος αροτριαθησεται και ιερουσαλημ εις αβατον εσται και το ορος του οικου εις αλσος δρυμου

Also I spoke to the priests and to all this people, saying, Yahweh says, “Don’t listen to the words of your prophets who prophesy to you, saying, ‘Behold, the vessels of Yahweh’s house will now shortly be brought again from Babylon;’ for they prophesy a lie to you.

^[34:16] υμιν και παντι τω λαω τουτω και τοις ιερευσιν ελαλησα λεγων ουτως ειπεν κυριος μη ακουετε των λογων των προφητων των προφητευοντων υμιν λεγοντων ιδου σκευη οικου κυριου επιστρεψει εκ βαβυλωνος οτι αδικα αυτοι προφητευουσιν υμιν ουκ απεστειλα αυτους

But if they are prophets, and if Yahweh’s word is with them, let them now make intercession to Yahweh of Armies, that the vessels which are left in Yahweh’s house, in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, don’t go to Babylon.

But if they [be] prophets, H5030 and if the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 be H3426 with them, let them now make intercession H6293 (QalImpf) to the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 that the vessels H3627 which are left H3498 (NiphPtc) in the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and [in] the house H1004 of the king H4428 of Judah, H3063 and at Jerusalem, H3389 go H935 (QalPerf) not to Babylon. ^[34:18] ει προφηται εισιν και ει εστιν λογος κυριου εν αυτοις απαντησατωσαν μοι

yes, Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says concerning the vessels that are left in Yahweh’s house, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem:

That same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, Hananiah the son of Azzur, the prophet, who was of Gibeon, spoke to me in Yahweh’s house, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,

^[35:1] και εγενετο εν τω τεταρτω ετει σεδεκια βασιλεως ιουδα εν μηνι τω πεμπτω ειπεν μοι ανανιας υιος αζωρ ο ψευδοπροφητης ο απο γαβαων εν οικω κυριου κατ οφθαλμους των ιερεων και παντος του λαου λεγων

Within two full years I will bring again into this place all the vessels of Yahweh’s house that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon.

Within two full H3117 years H8141 will I bring again H7725 (HiphPtc) into this place H4725 all the vessels H3627 of the Lord’s H3068 house, H1004 that Nebuchadnezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon H894 took away H3947 (QalPerf) from this place, H4725 and carried H935 (HiphImpf) them to Babylon: H894

^[35:3] ετι δυο ετη ημερων εγω αποστρεψω εις τον τοπον τουτον τα σκευη οικου κυριου

Then the prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people who stood in Yahweh’s house,

^[35:5] και ειπεν ιερεμιας προς ανανιαν κατ οφθαλμους παντος του λαου και κατ οφθαλμους των ιερεων των εστηκοτων εν οικω κυριου

even the prophet Jeremiah said, “Amen! May Yahweh do so. May Yahweh perform your words which you have prophesied, to bring again the vessels of Yahweh’s house, and all those who are captives, from Babylon to this place.

^[35:6] και ειπεν ιερεμιας αληθως ουτω ποιησαι κυριος στησαι τον λογον σου ον συ προφητευεις του επιστρεψαι τα σκευη οικου κυριου και πασαν την αποικιαν εκ βαβυλωνος εις τον τοπον τουτον

“Build houses and dwell in them. Plant gardens and eat their fruit.

Build H1129 (QalImpv) ye houses, H1004 and dwell H3427 (QalImpv) [in them]; and plant H5193 (QalImpv) gardens, H1593 and eat H398 (QalImpv) the fruit H6529 of them;

^[36:5] οικοδομησατε οικους και κατοικησατε και φυτευσατε παραδεισους και φαγετε τους καρπους αυτων

“Yahweh has made you priest in the place of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in Yahweh’s house, for every man who is crazy and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in the stocks and in shackles.

^[36:26] κυριος εδωκεν σε εις ιερεα αντι ιωδαε του ιερεως γενεσθαι επιστατην εν τω οικω κυριου παντι ανθρωπω προφητευοντι και παντι ανθρωπω μαινομενω και δωσεις αυτον εις το αποκλεισμα και εις τον καταρρακτην

because he has sent to us in Babylon, saying, The captivity is long. Build houses, and dwell in them. Plant gardens, and eat their fruit?” ’ ”

For therefore he sent H7971 (QalPerf) unto us [in] Babylon, H894 saying, H559 (QalInf) This H1931 [captivity is] long: H752 build H1129 (QalImpv) ye houses, H1004 and dwell H3427 (QalImpv) [in them]; and plant H5193 (QalImpv) gardens, H1593 and eat H398 (QalImpv) the fruit H6529 of them.

^[36:28] ου δια τουτο απεστειλεν προς υμας εις βαβυλωνα λεγων μακραν εστιν οικοδομησατε οικιας και κατοικησατε και φυτευσατε κηπους και φαγεσθε τον καρπον αυτων

“Behold, the days come,” says Yahweh, “that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man and with the seed of animal.

“Behold, the days come,” says Yahweh, “that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah,
