Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers’ households of the children of Israel, to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of Yahweh’s covenant out of David’s city, which is Zion.

The poles were so long that the ends of the poles were seen from the ark in front of the inner sanctuary, but they were not seen outside; and it is there to this day.

then hear from heaven, act, and judge your servants, bringing retribution to the wicked, to bring his way on his own head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Maacah to be chief, the prince among his brothers, for he intended to make him king.

Behold, God is with us at our head, and his priests with the trumpets of alarm to sound an alarm against you. Children of Israel, don’t fight against Yahweh, the God of your fathers; for you will not prosper.”

Moreover in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat appointed certain Levites, priests, and heads of the fathers’ households of Israel to give judgment for Yahweh and for controversies. They returned to Jerusalem.

και γαρ εν ιερουσαλημ κατεστησεν ιωσαφατ των ιερεων και των λευιτων και των πατριαρχων ισραηλ εις κρισιν κυριου και κρινειν τους κατοικουντας εν ιερουσαλημ

Behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of Yahweh; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, in all the king’s matters. Also the Levites shall be officers before you. Deal courageously, and may Yahweh be with the good.”

And, behold, Amariah H568 the chief H7218 priest H3548 [is] over you in all matters H1697 of the Lord; H3068 and Zebadiah H2069 the son H1121 of Ishmael, H3458 the ruler H5057 of the house H1004 of Judah, H3063 for all the king’s H4428 matters: H1697 also the Levites H3881 [shall be] officers H7860 (QalActPtc) before H6440 you. Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, with Jehoshaphat in front of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for Yahweh had made them to rejoice over their enemies.

They went around in Judah and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the heads of fathers’ households of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.

The king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said to him, “Why haven’t you required of the Levites to bring in the tax of Moses the servant of Yahweh, and of the assembly of Israel, out of Judah and out of Jerusalem, for the Tent of the Testimony?”

και εκαλεσεν ο βασιλευς ιωας τον ιωδαε τον αρχοντα και ειπεν αυτω δια τι ουκ επεσκεψω περι των λευιτων του εισενεγκαι απο ιουδα και ιερουσαλημ το κεκριμενον υπο μωυση ανθρωπου του θεου οτε εξεκκλησιασεν τον ισραηλ εις την σκηνην του μαρτυριου

Whenever the chest was brought to the king’s officers by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, the king’s scribe and the chief priest’s officer came and emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to its place again. Thus they did day by day, and gathered money in abundance.

Now it came to pass, that at what time H6256 the chest H727 was brought H935 (HiphImpf) unto the king’s H4428 office H6486 by the hand H3027 of the Levites, H3881 and when they saw H7200 (QalInf) that [there was] much H7227 money, H3701 the king’s H4428 scribe H5608 (QalActPtc) and the high H7218 priest’s H3548 officer H6496 came H935 (QalPerf) and emptied H6168 (PielImpf) the chest, H727 and took H5375 (QalImpf) it, and carried H7725 it to his place H4725 again. The children of Judah carried away ten thousand alive, and brought them to the top of the rock, and threw them down from the top of the rock, so that they all were broken in pieces.

Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead; and they thrust him out quickly from there. Indeed, he himself also hurried to go out, because Yahweh had struck him.

και ανεστησαν αρχοντες απο των υιων εφραιμ ουδια ο του ιωανου και βαραχιας ο του μοσολαμωθ και εζεκιας ο του σελλημ και αμασιας ο του χοδλι επι τους ερχομενους απο του πολεμου

Azariah the chief priest, of the house of Zadok, answered him and said, “Since people began to bring the offerings into Yahweh’s house, we have eaten and had enough, and have plenty left over, for Yahweh has blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store.”

και ειπεν προς αυτον αζαριας ο ιερευς ο αρχων εις οικον σαδωκ και ειπεν εξ ου ηρκται η απαρχη φερεσθαι εις οικον κυριου εφαγομεν και επιομεν και κατελιπομεν οτι κυριος ηυλογησεν τον λαον αυτου και κατελιπομεν ετι το πληθος τουτο

Then the heads of fathers’ households of Judah and Benjamin, the priests and the Levites, all whose spirit God had stirred to go up, rose up to build Yahweh’s house which is in Jerusalem.

Some of the heads of fathers’ households, when they came to Yahweh’s house which is in Jerusalem, offered willingly for God’s house to set it up in its place.

και απο αρχοντων πατριων εν τω ελθειν αυτους εις οικον κυριου τον εν ιερουσαλημ ηκουσιασαντο εις οικον του θεου του στησαι αυτον επι την ετοιμασιαν αυτου

But many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers’ households, the old men who had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice. Many also shouted aloud for joy,

και πολλοι απο των ιερεων και των λευιτων και αρχοντες των πατριων οι πρεσβυτεροι οι ειδοσαν τον οικον τον πρωτον εν θεμελιωσει αυτου και τουτον τον οικον εν οφθαλμοις αυτων εκλαιον φωνη μεγαλη και οχλος εν σημασια μετ ευφροσυνης του υψωσαι ωδην

they came near to Zerubbabel, and to the heads of fathers’ households, and said to them, “Let us build with you, for we seek your God as you do; and we have been sacrificing to him since the days of Esar Haddon king of Assyria, who brought us up here.”

But Zerubbabel, Jeshua, and the rest of the heads of fathers’ households of Israel said to them, “You have nothing to do with us in building a house to our God; but we ourselves together will build to Yahweh, the God of Israel, as King Cyrus the king of Persia has commanded us.”

και εξηνεγκα αυτους επι αρχοντος εν αργυριω του τοπου και εθηκα εν στοματι αυτων λογους λαλησαι προς τους αδελφους αυτων τους ναθινιμ εν αργυριω του τοπου του ενεγκαι ημιν αδοντας εις οικον θεου ημων

When I heard this thing, I tore my garment and my robe, and pulled the hair out of my head and of my beard, and sat down confounded.

and I said, “My God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to you, my God, for our iniquities have increased over our head, and our guiltiness has grown up to the heavens.
