ο δε ειπεν αυτω εγω αρχιστρατηγος δυναμεως κυριου νυνι παραγεγονα και ιησους επεσεν επι προσωπον επι την γην και ειπεν αυτω δεσποτα τι προστασσεις τω σω οικετη

Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the children of Israel. No one went out, and no one came in.

οι δε μαχιμοι εμπροσθεν παραπορευεσθωσαν και οι ιερεις οι ουραγουντες οπισω της κιβωτου της διαθηκης κυριου πορευομενοι και σαλπιζοντες

The seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns in front of Yahweh’s ark went on continually, and blew the trumpets. The armed men went in front of them. The rear guard came after Yahweh’s ark. The trumpets sounded as they went.

Joshua commanded them with an oath at that time, saying, “Cursed is the man before Yahweh who rises up and builds this city Jericho. With the loss of his firstborn he will lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he will set up its gates.”

So about three thousand men of the people went up there, and they fled before the men of Ai.

και τι ερω επει μετεβαλεν ισραηλ αυχενα απεναντι του εχθρου αυτου

Yahweh said to Joshua, “Get up! Why have you fallen on your face like that?

Joshua 7:10 Heb. fallest

και ειπεν κυριος προς ιησουν αναστηθι ινα τι τουτο συ πεπτωκας επι προσωπον σου

Therefore the children of Israel can’t stand before their enemies. They turn their backs before their enemies, because they have become devoted for destruction. I will not be with you any more, unless you destroy the devoted things from among you.

Get up! Sanctify the people, and say, ‘Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, for Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, “There is a devoted thing among you, Israel. You cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the devoted thing from among you.”

They took them from the middle of the tent, and brought them to Joshua and to all the children of Israel. They laid them down before Yahweh.

I and all the people who are with me will approach the city. It shall happen, when they come out against us, as at the first, that we will flee before them.

και ως αν εξελθωσιν οπισω ημων αποσπασομεν αυτους απο της πολεως και ερουσιν φευγουσιν ουτοι απο προσωπου ημων ον τροπον και εμπροσθεν

Joshua rose up early in the morning, mustered the people, and went up, he and the elders of Israel, before the people to Ai.

και ειδεν και ανεχωρησεν ιησους και ισραηλ απο προσωπου αυτων

και απεκριθησαν τω ιησοι λεγοντες ανηγγελη ημιν οσα συνεταξεν κυριος ο θεος σου μωυση τω παιδι αυτου δουναι υμιν την γην ταυτην και εξολεθρευσαι ημας και παντας τους κατοικουντας επ αυτης απο προσωπου υμων και εφοβηθημεν σφοδρα περι των ψυχων ημων απο προσωπου υμων και εποιησαμεν το πραγμα τουτο

Yahweh said to Joshua, “Don’t fear them, for I have delivered them into your hands. Not a man of them will stand before you.”

και εξεστησεν αυτους κυριος απο προσωπου των υιων ισραηλ και συνετριψεν αυτους κυριος συντριψιν μεγαλην εν γαβαων και κατεδιωξαν αυτους οδον αναβασεως ωρωνιν και κατεκοπτον αυτους εως αζηκα και εως μακηδα

εν τω δε φευγειν αυτους απο προσωπου των υιων ισραηλ επι της καταβασεως ωρωνιν και κυριος επερριψεν αυτοις λιθους χαλαζης εκ του ουρανου εως αζηκα και εγενοντο πλειους οι αποθανοντες δια τους λιθους της χαλαζης η ους απεκτειναν οι υιοι ισραηλ μαχαιρα εν τω πολεμω
