“For from their least even to their greatest, everyone is given to covetousness. From the prophet even to the priest, everyone deals falsely.

Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush. Therefore they will fall among those who fall. When I visit them, they will be cast down,” says Yahweh.

Hear, earth! Behold, I will bring evil on this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not listened to my words; and as for my law, they have rejected it.

For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, if you thoroughly execute justice between a man and his neighbor;

“Therefore don’t pray for this people. Don’t lift up a cry or prayer for them or make intercession to me; for I will not hear you.

Jeremiah 7:22 Heb. concerning the matter of

οτι ουκ ελαλησα προς τους πατερας υμων και ουκ ενετειλαμην αυτοις εν ημερα η ανηγαγον αυτους εκ γης αιγυπτου περι ολοκαυτωματων και θυσιας

but this thing I commanded them, saying, ‘Listen to my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. Walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.’

but this thing H1697 commanded H6680 (PielPerf) I them, saying, H559 (QalInf) Obey H8085 (QalImpv) my voice, H6963 and I will be your God, H430 and ye shall be my people: H5971 and walk H1980 (QalPerf) ye in all the ways H1870 that I have commanded H6680 (PielImpf) you, that it may be well H3190 (QalImpf) unto you.

αλλ η το ρημα τουτο ενετειλαμην αυτοις λεγων ακουσατε της φωνης μου και εσομαι υμιν εις θεον και υμεις εσεσθε μοι εις λαον και πορευεσθε εν πασαις ταις οδοις μου αις αν εντειλωμαι υμιν οπως αν ευ η υμιν

Cut off your hair, and throw it away, and take up a lamentation on the bare heights; for Yahweh has rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.

κειραι την κεφαλην σου και απορριπτε και αναλαβε επι χειλεων θρηνον οτι απεδοκιμασεν κυριος και απωσατο την γενεαν την ποιουσαν ταυτα

“For the children of Judah have done that which is evil in my sight,” says Yahweh. “They have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it.

οτι εποιησαν οι υιοι ιουδα το πονηρον εναντιον εμου λεγει κυριος εταξαν τα βδελυγματα αυτων εν τω οικω ου επικεκληται το ονομα μου επ αυτον του μιαναι αυτον

Therefore behold, the days come”, says Yahweh, “that it will no more be called ‘Topheth’ or ‘The valley of the son of Hinnom’, but ‘The valley of Slaughter’; for they will bury in Topheth until there is no place to bury.

δια τουτο ιδου ημεραι ερχονται λεγει κυριος και ουκ ερουσιν ετι βωμος του ταφεθ και φαραγξ υιου εννομ αλλ η φαραγξ των ανηρημενων και θαψουσιν εν τω ταφεθ δια το μη υπαρχειν τοπον

Then I will cause to cease from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; for the land will become a waste.”

και καταλυσω εκ πολεων ιουδα και εκ διοδων ιερουσαλημ φωνην ευφραινομενων και φωνην χαιροντων φωνην νυμφιου και φωνην νυμφης οτι εις ερημωσιν εσται πασα η γη

Therefore I will give their wives to others and their fields to those who will possess them. For everyone from the least even to the greatest is given to covetousness; from the prophet even to the priest everyone deals falsely.

δια τουτο δωσω τας γυναικας αυτων ετεροις και τους αγρους αυτων τοις κληρονομοις

Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed. They couldn’t blush. Therefore they will fall among those who fall. In the time of their visitation they will be cast down, says Yahweh.

“Why do we sit still? Assemble yourselves! Let’s enter into the fortified cities, and let’s be silent there; for Yahweh our God has put us to silence, and given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against Yahweh.

επι τι ημεις καθημεθα συναχθητε και εισελθωμεν εις τας πολεις τας οχυρας και απορριφωμεν οτι ο θεος απερριψεν ημας και εποτισεν ημας υδωρ χολης οτι ημαρτομεν εναντιον αυτου

“For, behold, I will send serpents, adders among you, which will not be charmed; and they will bite you,” says Yahweh.

Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then isn’t the health of the daughter of my people recovered?

μη ρητινη ουκ εστιν εν γαλααδ η ιατρος ουκ εστιν εκει δια τι ουκ ανεβη ιασις θυγατρος λαου μου

Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men, that I might leave my people and go from them! For they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.

“They bend their tongue, as their bow, for falsehood. They have grown strong in the land, but not for truth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they don’t know me,” says Yahweh.
