Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: “Yet again they will use this speech in the land of Judah and in its cities, when I reverse their captivity: ‘Yahweh bless you, habitation of righteousness, mountain of holiness.’

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 As yet they shall use H559 (QalImpf) this speech H1697 in the land H776 of Judah H3063 and in the cities H5892 thereof, when I shall bring again H7725 (QalInf) their captivity; H7622 The Lord H3068 bless H1288 (PielImpf) thee, O habitation H5116 of justice, H6664 [and] mountain H2022 of holiness. Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Still they say this word in the land of Judah, And in its cities, In My turning back to their captivity, Jehovah doth bless thee, habitation of righteousness, Mountain of holiness.

Yahweh, who gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, who stirs up the sea, so that its waves roar— Yahweh of Armies is his name, says:

Thus said Jehovah, Who is giving the sun for a light by day, The statutes of moon and stars for a light by night, Quieting the sea when its billows roar, Jehovah of Hosts is His name:

Yahweh says: “If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, then I will also cast off all the offspring of Israel for all that they have done,” says Yahweh.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 If heaven H8064 above H4605 can be measured, H4058 (NiphImpf) and the foundations H4146 of the earth H776 searched out H2713 (NiphImpf) beneath, H4295 I will also cast off H3988 (QalImpf) all the seed H2233 of Israel H3478 for all that they have done, H6213 (QalPerf) saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord. Thus said Jehovah: If the heavens above be measured, And the foundations of earth below searched, Even I kick against all the seed of Israel, For all that they have done, An affirmation of Jehovah.

For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, “Why do you prophesy, and say, ‘Yahweh says, “Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will take it;

Where Zedekiah king of Judah hath shut him up, saying, ‘Wherefore art thou prophesying, saying, Thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am giving this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he hath captured it;

Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Take these deeds, this deed of the purchase which is sealed, and this deed which is open, and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may last many days.’

‘Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Take these books, this purchase-book, both the sealed one and the open one, and thou hast put them in an earthen vessel, that they may remain many days;

For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel says: ‘Houses and fields and vineyards will yet again be bought in this land.’

For thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Houses H1004 and fields H7704 and vineyards H3754 shall be possessed again H7069 (NiphImpf) in this land. H776

For thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Again are houses and fields and vineyards bought in this land.’

Therefore Yahweh says: Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will take it.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Behold, I will give H5414 (QalActPtc) this city H5892 into the hand H3027 of the Chaldeans, H3778 and into the hand H3027 of Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and he shall take H3920 (QalPerf) it:

‘Therefore, thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am giving this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he hath captured it;

Now therefore Yahweh, the God of Israel, says concerning this city, about which you say, “It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:”

‘And now, therefore, thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, concerning this city, of which ye are saying, It hath been given into the hand of the king of Babylon by sword, and by famine, and by pestilence,

For Yahweh says: “Just as I have brought all this great evil on this people, so I will bring on them all the good that I have promised them.

‘For thus said Jehovah: As I brought in unto this people all this great evil, so I am bringing in on them all the good that I am speaking concerning them;

“Yahweh who does it, Yahweh who forms it to establish it—Yahweh is his name, says:

Thus said Jehovah its maker, Jehovah its former, at establishing it, Jehovah is His name:

For Yahweh, the God of Israel, says concerning the houses of this city and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are broken down to make a defense against the mounds and against the sword:

For thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 the God H430 of Israel, H3478 concerning the houses H1004 of this city, H5892 and concerning the houses H1004 of the kings H4428 of Judah, H3063 which are thrown down H5422 (QalPasPtc) by the mounts, H5550 and by the sword; H2719

For thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, that are broken down for the mounts, and for the tool;

Yahweh says: “Yet again there will be heard in this place, about which you say, ‘It is waste, without man and without animal, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without animal,’

Thus said Jehovah: Again heard in this place of which ye are saying, Waste it is, without man and without beast, In cities of Judah, and in streets of Jerusalem, That are desolated, without man, And without inhabitant, and without beast,

Yahweh of Armies says: “Yet again there will be in this place, which is waste, without man and without animal, and in all its cities, a habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts; H6635 Again in this place, H4725 which is desolate H2720 without man H120 and without beast, H929 and in all the cities H5892 thereof, shall be an habitation H5116 of shepherds H7462 (QalActPtc) causing [their] flocks H6629 to lie down. Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Again there is in this place-that is waste, Without man and beast, And in all its cities-a habitation of shepherds, Causing the flock to lie down.

For Yahweh says: “David will never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel.

For thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 David H1732 shall never H3808 want H3772 (NiphImpf) a man H376 to sit H3427 (QalActPtc) upon the throne H3678 of the house H1004 of Israel; H3478

For thus said Jehovah: ‘Not cut off to David is one sitting on the throne of the house of Israel,

“Yahweh says: ‘If you can break my covenant of the day and my covenant of the night, so that there will not be day and night in their time,

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 If ye can break H6565 (HiphImpf) my covenant H1285 of the day, H3117 and my covenant H1285 of the night, H3915 and that there should not be day H3119 and night H3915 in their season; H6256

‘Thus said Jehovah: If ye do break My covenant of the day, And My covenant of the night, So that they are not daily and nightly in their season,

Yahweh says: “If my covenant of day and night fails, if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth,

Thus said Jehovah: If My covenant is not daily and nightly, The statutes of heaven and earth I have not appointed-

“Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘Go, and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Yahweh says, “Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon and he will burn it with fire.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Go H1980 (QalInf) and speak H559 (QalPerf) to Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 and tell H559 (QalPerf) him, Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Behold, I will give H5414 (QalActPtc) this city H5892 into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and he shall burn H8313 (QalPerf) it with fire: H784

‘Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel: Go, and thou hast spoken unto Zedekiah king of Judah, and hast said unto him, Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am giving this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he hath burned it with fire,

“Yet hear Yahweh’s word, O Zedekiah king of Judah. Yahweh says concerning you, ‘You won’t die by the sword.

“Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: ‘I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying:

‘Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, I-I made a covenant with your fathers in the day of My bringing them forth fr4om the land of Egypt, from a house of servants, saying,

Therefore Yahweh says: “You have not listened to me, to proclaim liberty, every man to his brother, and every man to his neighbor. Behold, I proclaim to you a liberty,” says Yahweh, “to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine. I will make you be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Ye have not hearkened H8085 (QalPerf) unto me, in proclaiming H7121 (QalInf) liberty, H1865 every one H376 to his brother, H251 and every man H376 to his neighbour: H7453 behold, I proclaim H7121 (QalActPtc) a liberty H1865 for you, saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord, H3068 to the sword, H2719 to the pestilence, H1698 and to the famine; H7458 and I will make H5414 (QalPerf) you to be removed H2189 (Qere) H2113 into all the kingdoms H4467 of the earth. ‘Therefore, thus said Jehovah: Ye have not hearkened unto Me to proclaim freedom, each to his brother, and each to his neighbour; lo, I am proclaiming to you liberty-an affirmation of Jehovah-unto the sword, unto the pestilence, and unto the famine, and I have given you for a trembling to all kingdoms of the earth.

“Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, “Will you not receive instruction to listen to my words?” says Yahweh.

‘Go, and thou hast said to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem: Do ye not receive instruction?-to hearken unto My words-an affirmation of Jehovah.

“Therefore Yahweh, the God of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I will bring on Judah and on all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them, because I have spoken to them, but they have not heard; and I have called to them, but they have not answered.’ ”

therefore thus said Jehovah, God of Hosts, God of Israel: Lo, I am bringing in unto Judah, and unto all inhabitants of Jerusalem, all the evil that I have spoken against them, because I have spoken unto them, and they have not hearkened, yea, I call to them, and they have not answered.’

Jeremiah said to the house of the Rechabites, “Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Because you have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according to all that he commanded you,’

And Jeremiah H3414 said H559 (QalPerf) unto the house H1004 of the Rechabites, H7397 Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Because ye have obeyed H8085 (QalPerf) the commandment H4687 of Jonadab H3082 your father, H1 and kept H8104 (QalImpf) all his precepts, H4687 and done H6213 (QalImpf) according unto all that he hath commanded H6680 (PielPerf) you:

And to the house of the Rechabites said Jeremiah: ‘Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Because that ye have hearkened unto the command of Jonadab your father, and ye observe all his commands, and do according to all that he commanded you;

therefore Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Jonadab the son of Rechab will not lack a man to stand before me forever.’ ”

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Jonadab H3122 the son H1121 of Rechab H7394 shall not want H3772 (NiphImpf) a man H376 to stand H5975 (QalActPtc) before H6440 me for ever. H3117

therefore, thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Of Jonadab son of Rechab one standing before me is not cut off all the days.’

Concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, ‘Yahweh says: “You have burned this scroll, saying, ‘Why have you written therein, saying, “The king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and will cause to cease from there man and animal”?’ ”

And thou shalt say H559 (QalImpf) to Jehoiakim H3079 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Thou hast burned H8313 (QalPerf) this roll, H4039 saying, H559 (QalInf) Why hast thou written H3789 (QalPerf) therein, saying, H559 (QalInf) The king H4428 of Babylon H894 shall certainly H935 (QalInf) come H935 (QalImpf) and destroy H7843 (HiphPerf) this land, H776 and shall cause to cease H7673 (HiphPerf) from thence man H120 and beast? H929

and unto Jehoiakim king of Judah thou dost say: Thus said Jehovah, Thou hast burnt this roll, saying, Wherefore hast thou written on it, saying, The king of Babylon surely cometh in, and hath destroyed this land, and caused to cease from it man and beast?

Therefore Yahweh says concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: “He will have no one to sit on David’s throne. His dead body will be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of Jehoiakim H3079 king H4428 of Judah; H3063 He shall have none to sit H3427 (QalActPtc) upon the throne H3678 of David: H1732 and his dead body H5038 shall be cast out H7993 (HophPtc) in the day H3117 to the heat, H2721 and in the night H3915 to the frost. ‘Therefore, thus said Jehovah, concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: He hath none sitting on the throne of David, and his carcase is cast out to heat by day, and to cold by night;

“Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘You shall tell the king of Judah, who sent you to me to inquire of me: “Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which has come out to help you, will return to Egypt into their own land.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Thus shall ye say H559 (QalImpf) to the king H4428 of Judah, H3063 that sent H7971 (QalActPtc) you unto me to enquire H1875 (QalInf) of me; Behold, Pharaoh’s H6547 army, H2428 which is come forth H3318 (QalActPtc) to help H5833 you, shall return H7725 (QalPerf) to Egypt H4714 into their own land. ‘Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Thus do ye say unto the king of Judah, who is sending you unto Me, to seek Me: Lo, the force of Pharaoh that is coming out to you for help hath turned back to its land, to Egypt,

“Yahweh says, ‘Don’t deceive yourselves, saying, “The Chaldeans will surely depart from us;” for they will not depart.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Deceive H5377 (HiphImpf) not yourselves, H5315 saying, H559 (QalInf) The Chaldeans H3778 shall surely H1980 (QalInf) depart H3212 (QalImpf) from us: for they shall not depart. H3212 (QalImpf)

‘Thus said Jehovah: Lift not up your souls saying, The Chaldeans surely go from off us, for they do not go;

“Yahweh says, ‘He who remains in this city will die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, but he who goes out to the Chaldeans will live. He will escape with his life and he will live.’

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 He that remaineth H3427 (QalActPtc) in this city H5892 shall die H4191 (QalImpf) by the sword, H2719 by the famine, H7458 and by the pestilence: H1698 but he that goeth forth H3318 (QalActPtc) to the Chaldeans H3778 shall live; H2421 (QalPerf) for he shall have his life H5315 for a prey, H7998 and shall live. H2421 (QalImpf) (Qere) H2425 (QalPerf)

‘Thus said Jehovah: He who is remaining in this city dieth, by sword, by famine, and by pestilence, and he who is going forth unto the Chaldeans liveth, and his soul hath been to him for a prey, and he liveth.

Yahweh says, ‘This city will surely be given into the hand of the army of the king of Babylon, and he will take it.’ ”

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 This city H5892 shall surely H5414 (NiphInf) be given H5414 (NiphImpf) into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Babylon’s H894 army, H2428 which shall take H3920 (QalPerf) it.

Thus said Jehovah: This city is certainly given into the hand of the force of the king of Babylon, and he hath captured it.’

Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “Yahweh, the God of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘If you will go out to the king of Babylon’s princes, then your soul will live, and this city will not be burned with fire. You will live, along with your house.

Then said H559 (QalImpf) Jeremiah H3414 unto Zedekiah, H6667 Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 the God H430 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 If thou wilt assuredly H3318 (QalInf) go forth H3318 (QalImpf) unto the king H4428 of Babylon’s H894 princes, H8269 then thy soul H5315 shall live, H2421 (QalPerf) and this city H5892 shall not be burned H8313 (NiphImpf) with fire; H784 and thou shalt live, H2421 (QalPerf) and thine house: H1004

And Jeremiah saith unto Zedekiah, ‘Thus said Jehovah, God of Hosts, God of Israel: If thou dost certainly go forth unto the heads of the king of Babylon, then hath thy soul lived, and this city is not burned with fire, yea, thou hast lived, thou and thy house.

“Go, and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: “Behold, I will bring my words on this city for evil, and not for good; and they will be accomplished before you in that day.

‘Go, and thou hast spoken to Ebed-Melech the Cushite, saying: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Lo, I am bringing in My words unto this city for evil, and not for good, and they have been before thee in that day.

and said to them, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your supplication before him, says:

And said H559 (QalImpf) unto them, Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 the God H430 of Israel, H3478 unto whom ye sent H7971 (QalPerf) me to present H5307 (HiphInf) your supplication H8467 before H6440 him;

and he saith unto them, ‘Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, unto whom ye sent me, to cause your supplication to fall before Him:

now therefore hear Yahweh’s word, O remnant of Judah! Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says, ‘If you indeed set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go to live there,

And now, therefore, hear ye a word of Jehovah, O remnant of Judah: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: If ye really set your faces to enter Egypt, and have gone in to sojourn there,

For Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘As my anger and my wrath has been poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so my wrath will be poured out on you, when you enter into Egypt; and you will be an object of horror, an astonishment, a curse, and a reproach; and you will see this place no more.’

for thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: As poured out hath been Mine anger and My fury on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so poured out is My fury upon you in your entering Egypt, and ye have been for an execration, and for an astonishment, and for a reviling, and for a reproach, and ye do not see any more this place.

Tell them, Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set his throne on these stones that I have hidden; and he will spread his royal pavilion over them.

‘And, now, thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Why are ye doing great evil unto your own souls, to cut off to you man and woman, infant and suckling, from the midst of Judah, so as not to leave to you a remnant:

“Therefore Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, even to cut off all Judah.

Thus spake Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, saying: Ye and your wives both speak with your mouth, and with your hands have fulfilled, saying: We certainly execute our vows that we have vowed, to make perfume to the queen of the heavens, and to pour out to her libations, ye do certainly establish your vows, and certainly execute your vows.

Yahweh says, ‘Behold, I will give Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies and into the hand of those who seek his life, just as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who was his enemy and sought his life.’ ”

Thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am giving Pharaoh-Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of those seeking his life, as I have given Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and who is seeking his life.’

Yahweh says: “Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and will become an overflowing stream, and will overflow the land and all that is therein, the city and those who dwell therein. The men will cry, and all the inhabitants of the land will wail.

Of Moab. Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: “Woe to Nebo! For it is laid waste. Kiriathaim is disappointed. It is taken. Misgab^§ is put to shame and broken down.

Concerning Moab: ‘Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel: Woe unto Nebo, for it is spoiled, Put to shame, captured hath been Kiriathaim, Put to shame hath been the high tower, Yea, it hath been broken down.

For Yahweh says: “Behold, he will fly as an eagle, and will spread out his wings against Moab.

For thus said Jehovah: Lo, as an eagle he doth flee, And hath spread his wings unto Moab.

Of the children of Ammon. Yahweh says: “Has Israel no sons? Has he no heir? Why then does Malcam possess Gad, and his people dwell in its cities?

Concerning the sons of Ammon: ‘Thus said Jehovah: Sons-hath Israel none? heir-hath he none? Wherefore hath Malcam possessed Gad? And his people in its cities have dwelt?

Of Edom, Yahweh of Armies says: “Is wisdom no more in Teman? Has counsel perished from the prudent? Has their wisdom vanished?

For Yahweh says: “Behold, they to whom it didn’t pertain to drink of the cup will certainly drink; and are you he who will altogether go unpunished? You won’t go unpunished, but you will surely drink.

Of Kedar, and of the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon struck, Yahweh says: “Arise, go up to Kedar, and destroy the children of the east.
