that the kingdom might be brought low, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping his covenant it might stand.

και τοις προσταγμασιν μου πεπορευται και τα δικαιωματα μου πεφυλακται του ποιησαι αυτα δικαιος ουτος εστιν ζωη ζησεται λεγει κυριος

“Yet you say, ‘Why doesn’t the son bear the iniquity of the father?’ When the son has done that which is lawful and right, and has kept all my statutes, and has done them, he will surely live.

και ερειτε τι οτι ουκ ελαβεν την αδικιαν ο υιος του πατρος αυτου οτι ο υιος δικαιοσυνην και ελεος εποιησεν παντα τα νομιμα μου συνετηρησεν και εποιησεν αυτα ζωη ζησεται

“But if the wicked turns from all his sins that he has committed, and keeps all my statutes, and does that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live. He shall not die.

I am Yahweh your God. Walk in my statutes, keep my ordinances, and do them.

εγω κυριος ο θεος υμων εν τοις προσταγμασιν μου πορευεσθε και τα δικαιωματα μου φυλασσεσθε και ποιειτε αυτα

“ ‘ “But the children rebelled against me. They didn’t walk in my statutes, and didn’t keep my ordinances to do them, which if a man does, he shall live in them. They profaned my Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.

I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes. You will keep my ordinances and do them.

“ ‘ “My servant David will be king over them. They all will have one shepherd. They will also walk in my ordinances and observe my statutes, and do them.

και ο δουλος μου δαυιδ αρχων εν μεσω αυτων και ποιμην εις εσται παντων οτι εν τοις προσταγμασιν μου πορευσονται και τα κριματα μου φυλαξονται και ποιησουσιν αυτα

He said to me, “This room, which faces toward the south, is for the priests who perform the duty of the house.

και η εξεδρα η βλεπουσα προς βορραν τοις ιερευσι τοις φυλασσουσι την φυλακην του θυσιαστηριου εκεινοι εισιν οι υιοι σαδδουκ οι εγγιζοντες εκ του λευι προς κυριον λειτουργειν αυτω

If they are ashamed of all that they have done, make known to them the form of the house, its fashion, its exits, its entrances, its structure, all its ordinances, all its forms, and all its laws; and write it in their sight, that they may keep the whole form of it, and all its ordinances, and do them.

και αυτοι λημψονται την κολασιν αυτων περι παντων ων εποιησαν και διαγραψεις τον οικον και τας εξοδους αυτου και την υποστασιν αυτου και παντα τα προσταγματα αυτου και παντα τα νομιμα αυτου γνωριεις αυτοις και διαγραψεις εναντιον αυτων και φυλαξονται παντα τα δικαιωματα μου και παντα τα προσταγματα μου και ποιησουσιν αυτα

You have not performed the duty of my holy things; but you have set performers of my duty in my sanctuary for yourselves.”

και διεταξατε του φυλασσειν φυλακας εν τοις αγιοις μου

Yet I will make them performers of the duty of the house, for all its service and for all that will be done therein.

But I will make H5414 (QalPerf) them keepers H8104 (QalActPtc) of the charge H4931 of the house, H1004 for all the service H5656 thereof, and for all that shall be done H6213 (NiphImpf) therein.

και καταταξουσιν αυτους φυλασσειν φυλακας του οικου εις παντα τα εργα αυτου και εις παντα οσα αν ποιησωσιν

“ ‘ “But the Levitical priests, the sons of Zadok, who performed the duty of my sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from me, shall come near to me to minister to me. They shall stand before me to offer to me the fat and the blood,” says the Lord Yahweh.

οι ιερεις οι λευιται οι υιοι του σαδδουκ οιτινες εφυλαξαντο τας φυλακας των αγιων μου εν τω πλανασθαι οικον ισραηλ απ εμου ουτοι προσαξουσιν προς με του λειτουργειν μοι και στησονται προ προσωπου μου του προσφερειν μοι θυσιαν στεαρ και αιμα λεγει κυριος ο θεος

“They shall enter into my sanctuary, and they shall come near to my table, to minister to me, and they shall keep my instruction.

ουτοι εισελευσονται εις τα αγια μου και ουτοι προσελευσονται προς την τραπεζαν μου του λειτουργειν μοι και φυλαξουσιν τας φυλακας μου

“ ‘ “In a controversy they shall stand to judge. They shall judge it according to my ordinances. They shall keep my laws and my statutes in all my appointed feasts. They shall make my Sabbaths holy.

And in controversy H7379 they shall stand H5975 (QalImpf) in judgment; H8199 (QalInf) [and] they shall judge H8199 (QalImpf) it according to my judgments: H4941 and they shall keep H8104 (QalImpf) my laws H8451 and my statutes H2708 in all mine assemblies; H4150 and they shall hallow H6942 (PielImpf) my sabbaths. και επι κρισιν αιματος ουτοι επιστησονται του διακρινειν τα δικαιωματα μου δικαιωσουσιν και τα κριματα μου κρινουσιν και τα νομιμα μου και τα προσταγματα μου εν πασαις ταις εορταις μου φυλαξονται και τα σαββατα μου αγιασουσιν

It shall be for the priests who are sanctified of the sons of Zadok, who have kept my instruction, who didn’t go astray when the children of Israel went astray, as the Levites went astray.

I prayed to Yahweh my God, and made confession, and said,

και προσηυξαμην προς κυριον τον θεον μου και εξωμολογησαμην και ειπα κυριε ο θεος ο μεγας και θαυμαστος ο φυλασσων την διαθηκην σου και το ελεος τοις αγαπωσιν σε και τοις φυλασσουσιν τας εντολας σου

They will eat, and not have enough. They will play the prostitute, and will not increase; because they have abandoned listening to Yahweh.

For they shall eat, H398 (QalPerf) and not have enough: H7646 (QalImpf) they shall commit whoredom, H2181 (HiphPerf) and shall not increase: H6555 (QalImpf) because they have left off H5800 (QalPerf) to take heed H8104 (QalInf) to the Lord. H3068

και φαγονται και ου μη εμπλησθωσιν επορνευσαν και ου μη κατευθυνωσιν διοτι τον κυριον εγκατελιπον του φυλαξαι

Therefore turn to your God. Keep kindness and justice, and wait continually for your God.

Therefore turn H7725 (QalImpf) thou to thy God: H430 keep H8104 (QalImpv) mercy H2617 and judgment, H4941 and wait H6960 (PielImpv) on thy God H430 continually. H8548

^[12:7] και συ εν θεω σου επιστρεψεις ελεον και κριμα φυλασσου και εγγιζε προς τον θεον σου δια παντος

Jacob fled into the country of Aram. Israel served to get a wife. For a wife he tended flocks and herds.

And Jacob H3290 fled H1272 (QalImpf) into the country H7704 of Syria, H758 and Israel H3478 served H5647 (QalImpf) for a wife, H802 and for a wife H802 he kept H8104 (QalPerf) [sheep].

^[12:13] και ανεχωρησεν ιακωβ εις πεδιον συριας και εδουλευσεν ισραηλ εν γυναικι και εν γυναικι εφυλαξατο

By a prophet Yahweh brought Israel up out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved.

And by a prophet H5030 the Lord H3068 brought H5927 (HiphPerf) Israel H3478 out of Egypt, H4714 and by a prophet H5030 was he preserved. H8104 (NiphPerf)

^[12:14] και εν προφητη ανηγαγεν κυριος τον ισραηλ εξ αιγυπτου και εν προφητη διεφυλαχθη

Yahweh says: “For three transgressions of Edom, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment, because he pursued his brother with the sword and cast off all pity, and his anger raged continually, and he kept his wrath forever;

ταδε λεγει κυριος επι ταις τρισιν ασεβειαις της ιδουμαιας και επι ταις τεσσαρσιν ουκ αποστραφησομαι αυτους ενεκα του διωξαι αυτους εν ρομφαια τον αδελφον αυτου και ελυμηνατο μητραν επι γης και ηρπασεν εις μαρτυριον φρικην αυτου και το ορμημα αυτου εφυλαξεν εις νεικος

Yahweh says: “For three transgressions of Judah, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment, because they have rejected Yahweh’s law, and have not kept his statutes, and their lies have led them astray, after which their fathers walked;

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 For three H7969 transgressions H6588 of Judah, H3063 and for four, H702 I will not turn away H7725 (HiphImpf) [the punishment] thereof; because they have despised H3988 (QalInf) the law H8451 of the Lord, H3068 and have not kept H8104 (QalPerf) his commandments, H2706 and their lies H3577 caused them to err, H8582 (HiphImpf) after H310 the which their fathers H1 have walked: H1980 (QalPerf)

ταδε λεγει κυριος επι ταις τρισιν ασεβειαις υιων ιουδα και επι ταις τεσσαρσιν ουκ αποστραφησομαι αυτον ενεκα του απωσασθαι αυτους τον νομον κυριου και τα προσταγματα αυτου ουκ εφυλαξαντο και επλανησεν αυτους τα ματαια αυτων α εποιησαν οις εξηκολουθησαν οι πατερες αυτων οπισω αυτων

Those who regard vain idols forsake their own mercy.

^[2:9] φυλασσομενοι ματαια και ψευδη ελεος αυτων εγκατελιπον

For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of Ahab’s house. You walk in their counsels, that I may make you a ruin, and your inhabitants a hissing. You will bear the reproach of my people.”

και εφυλαξας τα δικαιωματα ζαμβρι και παντα τα εργα οικου αχααβ και επορευθητε εν ταις βουλαις αυτων οπως παραδω σε εις αφανισμον και τους κατοικουντας αυτην εις συρισμον και ονειδη λαων λημψεσθε

Don’t trust in a neighbor. Don’t put confidence in a friend. With the woman lying in your embrace, be careful of the words of your mouth!

μη καταπιστευετε εν φιλοις και μη ελπιζετε επι ηγουμενοις απο της συγκοιτου σου φυλαξαι του αναθεσθαι τι αυτη

“Yahweh of Armies says: ‘If you will walk in my ways, and if you will follow my instructions, then you also shall judge my house, and shall also keep my courts, and I will give you a place of access among these who stand by.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts; H6635 If thou wilt walk H3212 (QalImpf) in my ways, H1870 and if thou wilt keep H8104 (QalImpf) my charge, H4931 then thou shalt also judge H1777 (QalImpf) my house, H1004 and shalt also keep H8104 (QalImpf) my courts, H2691 and I will give H5414 (QalPerf) thee places to walk H4108 (HiphPtc) among these that stand by. ταδε λεγει κυριος παντοκρατωρ εαν εν ταις οδοις μου πορευη και εαν τα προσταγματα μου φυλαξης και συ διακρινεις τον οικον μου και εαν διαφυλαξης και γε την αυλην μου και δωσω σοι αναστρεφομενους εν μεσω των εστηκοτων τουτων

It was broken in that day; and thus the poor of the flock that listened to me knew that it was Yahweh’s word.

For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth; for he is the messenger of Yahweh of Armies.

οτι χειλη ιερεως φυλαξεται γνωσιν και νομον εκζητησουσιν εκ στοματος αυτου διοτι αγγελος κυριου παντοκρατορος εστιν

“Therefore I have also made you contemptible and wicked before all the people, according to the way you have not kept my ways, but have had respect for persons in the law.

καγω δεδωκα υμας εξουδενωμενους και παρειμενους εις παντα τα εθνη ανθ ων υμεις ουκ εφυλαξασθε τας οδους μου αλλα ελαμβανετε προσωπα εν νομω

Did he not make you one, although he had the residue of the Spirit? Why one? He sought godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let no one deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.

αλλα εαν μισησας εξαποστειλης λεγει κυριος ο θεος του ισραηλ και καλυψει ασεβεια επι τα ενθυμηματα σου λεγει κυριος παντοκρατωρ και φυλαξασθε εν τω πνευματι υμων και ου μη εγκαταλιπητε

απο των αδικιων των πατερων υμων εξεκλινατε νομιμα μου και ουκ εφυλαξασθε επιστρεψατε προς με και επιστραφησομαι προς υμας λεγει κυριος παντοκρατωρ και ειπατε εν τινι επιστρεψωμεν

You have said, ‘It is vain to serve God,’ and ‘What profit is it that we have followed his instructions and that we have walked mournfully before Yahweh of Armies?
