They gathered their brothers, sanctified themselves, and went in, according to the commandment of the king by Yahweh’s words, to cleanse Yahweh’s house.

The priests went into the inner part of Yahweh’s house to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in Yahweh’s temple into the court of Yahweh’s house. The Levites took it from there to carry it out to the brook Kidron.

H3068 And the Levites H3881 took H6901 (PielImpf) [it], to carry [it] out H3318 (HiphInf) abroad H2351 into the brook H5158 Kidron. H6939

και εισηλθον οι ιερεις εσω εις τον οικον κυριου αγνισαι και εξεβαλον πασαν την ακαθαρσιαν την ευρεθεισαν εν τω οικω κυριου και εις την αυλην οικου κυριου και εδεξαντο οι λευιται εκβαλειν εις τον χειμαρρουν κεδρων εξω

Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month they came to Yahweh’s porch. They sanctified Yahweh’s house in eight days, and on the sixteenth day of the first month they finished.

Then they went in to Hezekiah the king within the palace and said, “We have cleansed all Yahweh’s house, including the altar of burnt offering with all its vessels, and the table of show bread with all its vessels.

και εισηλθαν εσω προς εζεκιαν τον βασιλεα και ειπαν ηγνισαμεν παντα τα εν οικω κυριου το θυσιαστηριον της ολοκαυτωσεως και τα σκευη αυτου και την τραπεζαν της προθεσεως και τα σκευη αυτης

Then Hezekiah the king arose early, gathered the princes of the city, and went up to Yahweh’s house.

και εστησεν τους λευιτας εν οικω κυριου εν κυμβαλοις και εν ναβλαις και εν κινυραις κατα την εντολην δαυιδ του βασιλεως και γαδ του ορωντος τω βασιλει και ναθαν του προφητου οτι δι εντολης κυριου το προσταγμα εν χειρι των προφητων

Then Hezekiah answered, “Now you have consecrated yourselves to Yahweh. Come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into Yahweh’s house.” The assembly brought in sacrifices and thank offerings, and as many as were of a willing heart brought burnt offerings.

Then Hezekiah H3169 answered H6030 (QalImpf) and said, H559 (QalImpf) Now ye have consecrated H4390 (PielPerf) H3027 yourselves unto the Lord, H3068 come near H5066 (QalImpv) and bring H935 (HiphImpv) sacrifices H2077 and thank offerings H8426 into the house H1004 of the Lord. και απεκριθη εζεκιας και ειπεν νυν επληρωσατε τας χειρας υμων κυριω προσαγαγετε και φερετε θυσιας και αινεσεως εις οικον κυριου και ανηνεγκεν η εκκλησια θυσιας και αινεσεως εις οικον κυριου και πας προθυμος τη καρδια ολοκαυτωσεις

Also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings and with the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of Yahweh’s house was set in order.

Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to Yahweh’s house at Jerusalem, to keep the Passover to Yahweh, the God of Israel.

Then they killed the Passover on the fourteenth day of the second month. The priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought burnt offerings into Yahweh’s house.

και εθυσαν το φασεκ τη τεσσαρεσκαιδεκατη του μηνος του δευτερου και οι ιερεις και οι λευιται ενετραπησαν και ηγνισθησαν και εισηνεγκαν ολοκαυτωματα εις οικον κυριου

Azariah the chief priest, of the house of Zadok, answered him and said, “Since people began to bring the offerings into Yahweh’s house, we have eaten and had enough, and have plenty left over, for Yahweh has blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store.”

Then Hezekiah commanded them to prepare rooms in Yahweh’s house, and they prepared them.

και ειπεν εζεκιας ετοιμασαι παστοφορια εις οικον κυριου και ητοιμασαν

Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath, and Benaiah were overseers under the hand of Conaniah and Shimei his brother, by the appointment of Hezekiah the king and Azariah the ruler of God’s house.

And Jehiel, H3171 and Azaziah, H5812 and Nahath, H5184 and Asahel, H6214 and Jerimoth, H3406 and Jozabad, H3107 and Eliel, H447 and Ismachiah, H3253 and Mahath, H4287 and Benaiah, H1141 [were] overseers H6496 under the hand H3027 of Cononiah H3562 and Shimei H8096 his brother, H251 at the commandment H4662 of Hezekiah H3169 the king, H4428 and Azariah H5838 the ruler H5057 of the house H1004 of God. εκτος της επιγονης των αρσενικων απο τριετους και επανω παντι τω εισπορευομενω εις οικον κυριου εις λογον ημερων εις ημεραν εις λειτουργιαν εφημεριαις διαταξεως αυτων

and those who were listed by genealogy of the priests by their fathers’ houses, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their offices by their divisions;

Both to the genealogy H3187 (HithInf) of the priests H3548 by the house H1004 of their fathers, H1 and the Levites H3881 from twenty H6242 years H8141 old H1121 and upward, H4605 in their charges H4931 by their courses; H4256

ουτος ο καταλοχισμος των ιερεων κατ οικους πατριων και οι λευιται εν ταις εφημεριαις αυτων απο εικοσαετους και επανω εν διαταξει

In every work that he began in the service of God’s house, in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart and prospered.

και εν παντι εργω εν ω ηρξατο εν εργασια εν οικω κυριου και εν τω νομω και εν τοις προσταγμασιν εξεζητησεν τον θεον αυτου εξ ολης ψυχης αυτου και εποιησεν και ευοδωθη

Yahweh sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty men of valor, the leaders, and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. When he had come into the house of his god, those who came out of his own body° killed him there with the sword.

He built altars for all the army of the sky in the two courts of Yahweh’s house.

και ωκοδομησεν θυσιαστηρια παση τη στρατια του ουρανου εν ταις δυσιν αυλαις οικου κυριου

He set the engraved image of the idol, which he had made, in God’s house, of which God said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever.

και εθηκεν το γλυπτον και το χωνευτον εικονα ην εποιησεν εν οικω θεου ου ειπεν ο θεος προς δαυιδ και προς σαλωμων υιον αυτου εν τω οικω τουτω και ιερουσαλημ ην εξελεξαμην εκ πασων φυλων ισραηλ θησω το ονομα μου εις τον αιωνα

He took away the foreign gods and the idol out of Yahweh’s house, and all the altars that he had built in the mountain of Yahweh’s house and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.

και περιειλεν τους θεους τους αλλοτριους και το γλυπτον εξ οικου κυριου και παντα τα θυσιαστηρια α ωκοδομησεν εν ορει οικου κυριου και εν ιερουσαλημ και εξω της πολεως

So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house; and Amon his son reigned in his place.

So Manasseh H4519 slept H7901 (QalImpf) with his fathers, H1 and they buried H6912 (QalImpf) him in his own house: H1004 and Amon H526 his son H1121 reigned H4427 (QalImpf) in his stead.

και εκοιμηθη μανασσης μετα των πατερων αυτου και εθαψαν αυτον εν παραδεισω οικου αυτου και εβασιλευσεν αντ αυτου αμων υιος αυτου

His servants conspired against him, and put him to death in his own house.

They came to Hilkiah the high priest and delivered the money that was brought into God’s house, which the Levites, the keepers of the threshold, had gathered from the hands of Manasseh, Ephraim, of all the remnant of Israel, of all Judah and Benjamin, and of the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

And when they came H935 (QalImpf) to Hilkiah H2518 the high H1419 priest, H3548 they delivered H5414 (QalImpf) the money H3701 that was brought H935 (HophPtc) into the house H1004 of God, H430 which the Levites H3881 that kept H8104 (QalActPtc) the doors H5592 had gathered H622 (QalPerf) of the hand H3027 of Manasseh H4519 and Ephraim, H669 and of all the remnant H7611 of Israel, H3478 and of all Judah H3063 and Benjamin; H1144 and they returned H7725 (QalImpf) (Qere) H3427 (QalActPtc) to Jerusalem. και ηλθον προς χελκιαν τον ιερεα τον μεγαν και εδωκαν το αργυριον το εισενεχθεν εις οικον θεου ο συνηγαγον οι λευιται φυλασσοντες την πυλην εκ χειρος μανασση και εφραιμ και των αρχοντων και απο παντος καταλοιπου εν ισραηλ και υιων ιουδα και βενιαμιν και οικουντων εν ιερουσαλημ

They delivered it into the hands of the workmen who had the oversight of Yahweh’s house; and the workmen who labored in Yahweh’s house gave it to mend and repair the house.

και εδωκαν αυτο επι χειρα ποιουντων τα εργα οι καθεσταμενοι εν οικω κυριου και εδωκαν αυτο ποιουσι τα εργα οι εποιουν εν οικω κυριου επισκευασαι κατισχυσαι τον οικον

They gave it to the carpenters and to the builders to buy cut stone and timber for couplings, and to make beams for the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.

Even to the artificers H2796 and builders H1129 (QalActPtc) gave H5414 (QalImpf) they [it], to buy H7069 (QalInf) hewn H4274 stone, H68 and timber H6086 for couplings, H4226 and to floor H7136 (PielInf) the houses H1004 which the kings H4428 of Judah H3063 had destroyed. H7843 (HiphPerf)

και εδωκαν τοις τεκτοσι και τοις οικοδομοις αγορασαι λιθους τετραπεδους και ξυλα εις δοκους στεγασαι τους οικους ους εξωλεθρευσαν βασιλεις ιουδα

When they brought out the money that was brought into Yahweh’s house, Hilkiah the priest found the book of Yahweh’s law given by Moses.

And when they brought out H3318 (HiphInf) the money H3701 that was brought into H935 (HophPtc) the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 Hilkiah H2518 the priest H3548 found H4672 (QalPerf) a book H5612 of the law H8451 of the Lord H3068 [given] by H3027 Moses. H4872

και εν τω εκφερειν αυτους το αργυριον το εισοδιασθεν εις οικον κυριου ευρεν χελκιας ο ιερευς βιβλιον νομου κυριου δια χειρος μωυση

Hilkiah answered Shaphan the scribe, “I have found the book of the law in Yahweh’s house.” So Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.

And Hilkiah H2518 answered H6030 (QalImpf) and said H559 (QalImpf) to Shaphan H8227 the scribe, H5608 (QalActPtc) I have found H4672 (QalPerf) the book H5612 of the law H8451 in the house H1004 of the Lord. H3068 And Hilkiah H2518 delivered H5414 (QalImpf) the book H5612 to Shaphan. H8227

και απεκριθη χελκιας και ειπεν προς σαφαν τον γραμματεα βιβλιον νομου ευρον εν οικω κυριου και εδωκεν χελκιας το βιβλιον τω σαφαν

They have emptied out the money that was found in Yahweh’s house, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers and into the hand of the workmen.”

And they have gathered together H5413 (HiphImpf) the money H3701 that was found H4672 (NiphPtc) in the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and have delivered H5414 (QalImpf) it into the hand H3027 of the overseers, H6485 (HophPtc) and to the hand H3027 of the workmen. H6213 (QalActPtc) H4399

και εχωνευσαν το αργυριον το ευρεθεν εν οικω κυριου και εδωκαν επι χειρα των επισκοπων και επι χειρα των ποιουντων εργασιαν

The king went up to Yahweh’s house with all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem—the priests, the Levites, and all the people, both great and small—and he read in their hearing all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in Yahweh’s house.

He set the priests in their offices and encouraged them in the service of Yahweh’s house.

και εστησεν τους ιερεις επι τας φυλακας αυτων και κατισχυσεν αυτους εις τα εργα οικου κυριου

και ειπεν τοις λευιταις τοις δυνατοις εν παντι ισραηλ του αγιασθηναι αυτους τω κυριω και εθηκαν την κιβωτον την αγιαν εις τον οικον ον ωκοδομησεν σαλωμων υιος δαυιδ του βασιλεως ισραηλ και ειπεν ο βασιλευς ουκ εστιν υμιν αραι επ ωμων ουθεν νυν ουν λειτουργησατε τω κυριω θεω υμων και τω λαω αυτου ισραηλ

Prepare yourselves after your fathers’ houses by your divisions, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son.

And prepare H3559 (HiphImpv) (Qere) H3559 (NiphImpv) [yourselves] by the houses H1004 of your fathers, H1 after your courses, H4256 according to the writing H3791 of David H1732 king H4428 of Israel, H3478 and according to the writing H4385 of Solomon H8010 his son. H1121

και ετοιμασθητε κατ οικους πατριων υμων και κατα τας εφημεριας υμων κατα την γραφην δαυιδ βασιλεως ισραηλ και δια χειρος σαλωμων υιου αυτου

Stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of your brothers the children of the people, and let there be for each a portion of a fathers’ house of the Levites.

And stand in H5975 (QalImpv) the holy H6944 [place] according to the divisions H6391 of the families H1004 of the fathers H1 of your brethren H251 the people, H1121 H5971 and [after] the division H2515 of the families H1 H1004 of the Levites. H3881

και στητε εν τω οικω κατα τας διαιρεσεις οικων πατριων υμων τοις αδελφοις υμων υιοις του λαου και μερις οικου πατριας τοις λευιταις

His princes gave a free will offering to the people, to the priests, and to the Levites. Hilkiah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, the rulers of God’s house, gave to the priests for the Passover offerings two thousand six hundred small livestock, and three hundred head of cattle.

και οι αρχοντες αυτου απηρξαντο τω λαω και τοις ιερευσιν και λευιταις εδωκεν χελκιας και ζαχαριας και ιιηλ οι αρχοντες οικου του θεου τοις ιερευσιν και εδωκαν εις το φασεχ προβατα και αμνους και εριφους δισχιλια εξακοσια και μοσχους τριακοσιους

They removed the burnt offerings, that they might give them according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of the children of the people, to offer to Yahweh, as it is written in the book of Moses. They did the same with the cattle.

και ητοιμασαν την ολοκαυτωσιν παραδουναι αυτοις κατα την διαιρεσιν κατ οικους πατριων τοις υιοις του λαου του προσαγειν τω κυριω ως γεγραπται εν βιβλιω μωυση και ουτως εις το πρωι

After all this, when Josiah had prepared the temple, Neco king of Egypt went up to fight against Carchemish by the Euphrates, and Josiah went out against him.

και ανεβη φαραω νεχαω βασιλευς αιγυπτου επι τον βασιλεα ασσυριων επι τον ποταμον ευφρατην και επορευθη ο βασιλευς ιωσιας εις συναντησιν αυτω

But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, “What have I to do with you, you king of Judah? I come not against you today, but against the house with which I have war. God has commanded me to make haste. Beware that it is God who is with me, that he not destroy you.”

και απεστειλεν προς αυτον αγγελους λεγων τι εμοι και σοι βασιλευ ιουδα ουκ επι σε ηκω σημερον πολεμον ποιησαι και ο θεος ειπεν κατασπευσαι με προσεχε απο του θεου του μετ εμου μη καταφθειρη σε

Nebuchadnezzar also carried some of the vessels of Yahweh’s house to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.

At the return of the year, King Nebuchadnezzar sent and brought him to Babylon, with the valuable vessels of Yahweh’s house, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.

Moreover all the chiefs of the priests and the people trespassed very greatly after all the abominations of the nations; and they polluted Yahweh’s house which he had made holy in Jerusalem.

και παντες οι ενδοξοι ιουδα και οι ιερεις και ο λαος της γης επληθυναν του αθετησαι αθετηματα βδελυγματων εθνων και εμιαναν τον οικον κυριου τον εν ιερουσαλημ

Therefore he brought on them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old man or infirm. He gave them all into his hand.

All the vessels of God’s house, great and small, and the treasures of Yahweh’s house, and the treasures of the king and of his princes, all these he brought to Babylon.

And all the vessels H3627 of the house H1004 of God, H430 great H1419 and small, H6996 and the treasures H214 of the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and the treasures H214 of the king, H4428 and of his princes; H8269 all [these] he brought H935 (HiphPerf) to Babylon. H894

και παντα τα σκευη οικου θεου τα μεγαλα και τα μικρα και τους θησαυρους και παντας τους θησαυρους βασιλεως και μεγιστανων παντα εισηνεγκεν εις βαβυλωνα

They burned God’s house, broke down the wall of Jerusalem, burned all its palaces with fire, and destroyed all of its valuable vessels.

και ενεπρησεν τον οικον κυριου και κατεσκαψεν το τειχος ιερουσαλημ και τας βαρεις αυτης ενεπρησεν εν πυρι και παν σκευος ωραιον εις αφανισμον

“Cyrus king of Persia says, ‘Yahweh, the God of heaven, has given all the kingdoms of the earth to me; and he has commanded me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever there is among you of all his people, Yahweh his God be with him, and let him go up.’ ”

Then the heads of fathers’ households of Judah and Benjamin, the priests and the Levites, all whose spirit God had stirred to go up, rose up to build Yahweh’s house which is in Jerusalem.
