και εφεισαμην αυτων δια το ονομα μου το αγιον ο εβεβηλωσαν οικος ισραηλ εν τοις εθνεσιν ου εισηλθοσαν εκει

“Therefore tell the house of Israel, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “I don’t do this for your sake, house of Israel, but for my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you went.

δια τουτο ειπον τω οικω ισραηλ ταδε λεγει κυριος ουχ υμιν εγω ποιω οικος ισραηλ αλλ η δια το ονομα μου το αγιον ο εβεβηλωσατε εν τοις εθνεσιν ου εισηλθετε εκει

I don’t do this for your sake,” says the Lord Yahweh. “Let it be known to you. Be ashamed and confounded for your ways, house of Israel.”

“ ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “For this, moreover, I will be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them: I will increase them with men like a flock.

Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost. We are completely cut off.’

“Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Now I will reverse the captivity of Jacob and have mercy on the whole house of Israel. I will be jealous for my holy name.

I won’t hide my face from them any more, for I have poured out my Spirit on the house of Israel,’ says the Lord Yahweh.”

The man said to me, “Son of man, see with your eyes, and hear with your ears, and set your heart on all that I will show you; for you have been brought here so that I may show them to you. Declare all that you see to the house of Israel.”

Behold, there was a wall on the outside of the house all around, and in the man’s hand a measuring reed six cubits° long, of a cubit and a hand width each. So he measured the thickness of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed.

Ezekiel 40:5 A normal cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimeters. A handbreadth is about 4.3 inches or 11 centimeters, so the long cubit described here would be about 22.3 inches or 57 centimeters long. Thus, a 6 long cubit measuring reed would have been about 3 yards 26.6 inches or about 3.42 meters long.

And behold a wall H2346 on the outside H2351 of the house H1004 round about, H5439 and in the man’s H376 hand H3027 a measuring H4060 reed H7070 of six H8337 cubits H520 [long] by the cubit H520 and an hand breadth: H2948 so he measured H4058 (QalImpf) the breadth H7341 of the building, H1146 one H259 reed; H7070 and the height, H6967 one H259 reed. Every lodge was one reed long and one reed wide. Between the lodges was five cubits. The threshold of the gate by the porch of the gate toward the house was one reed.

The hooks, a hand width long, were fastened within all around. The meat of the offering was on the tables.

He said to me, “This room, which faces toward the south, is for the priests who perform the duty of the house.

Then he measured the wall of the house, six cubits; and the width of every side room, four cubits, all around the house on every side.

The side rooms were in three stories, one over another, and thirty in each story. They entered into the wall which belonged to the house for the side rooms all around, that they might be supported and not penetrate the wall of the house.

και τα πλευρα πλευρον επι πλευρον τριακοντα και τρεις δις και διαστημα εν τω τοιχω του οικου εν τοις πλευροις κυκλω του ειναι τοις επιλαμβανομενοις οραν οπως το παραπαν μη απτωνται των τοιχων του οικου

The side rooms were wider on the higher levels, because the walls were narrower at the higher levels. Therefore the width of the house increased upward; and so one went up from the lowest level to the highest through the middle level.

And [there was] an enlarging, H7337 (QalPerf) and a winding about H5437 (NiphPerf) still upward H4605 to the side chambers: H6763 for the winding about H4141 of the house H1004 went still upward H4605 round about H5439 the house: H1004 therefore the breadth H7341 of the house H1004 [was still] upward, H4605 and so increased H5927 (QalImpf) [from] the lowest H8481 [chamber] to the highest H5945 by the midst. I saw also that the house had a raised base all around. The foundations of the side rooms were a full reed of six great cubits.

The thickness of the outer wall of the side rooms was five cubits. That which was left was the place of the side rooms that belonged to the house.

The thickness H7341 of the wall, H7023 which [was] for the side chamber H6763 without, H2351 [was] five H2568 cubits: H520 and [that] which [was] left H3240 (HophPtc) [was] the place H1004 of the side chambers H6763 that [were] within. H1004

Between the rooms was a width of twenty cubits around the house on every side.

And between the chambers H3957 [was] the wideness H7341 of twenty H6242 cubits H520 round about H5439 the house H1004 on every side. H5439

και ανα μεσον των εξεδρων ευρος πηχων εικοσι το περιφερες τω οικω κυκλω

So he measured the temple, one hundred cubits long; and the separate place, and the building, with its walls, one hundred cubits long;

so that there was the face of a man toward the palm tree on the one side, and the face of a young lion toward the palm tree on the other side. It was made like this through all the house all around.

προσωπον ανθρωπου προς τον φοινικα ενθεν και ενθεν και προσωπον λεοντος προς τον φοινικα ενθεν και ενθεν διαγεγλυμμενος ολος ο οικος κυκλοθεν

There were closed windows and palm trees on the one side and on the other side, on the sides of the porch. This is how the side rooms of the temple and the thresholds were arranged.

And [there were] narrow H331 (QalPtc) windows H2474 and palm trees H8561 on the one side and on the other side, on the sides H3802 of the porch, H197 and [upon] the side chambers H6763 of the house, H1004 and thick planks. H5646

Now when he had finished measuring the inner house, he brought me out by the way of the gate which faces toward the east, and measured it all around.

Yahweh’s glory came into the house by the way of the gate which faces toward the east.

The Spirit took me up and brought me into the inner court; and behold, Yahweh’s glory filled the house.

I heard one speaking to me out of the house, and a man stood by me.

“You, son of man, show the house to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and let them measure the pattern.

If they are ashamed of all that they have done, make known to them the form of the house, its fashion, its exits, its entrances, its structure, all its ordinances, all its forms, and all its laws; and write it in their sight, that they may keep the whole form of it, and all its ordinances, and do them.

And if they be ashamed H3637 (NiphPerf) of all that they have done, H6213 (QalPerf) shew H3045 (HiphImpv) them the form H6699 of the house, H1004 and the fashion H8498 thereof, and the goings out H4161 thereof, and the comings H4126 in thereof, and all the forms H6699 thereof, and all the ordinances H2708 thereof, and all the forms H6699 thereof, and all the laws H8451 thereof: and write H3789 (QalImpv) [it] in their sight, H5869 that they may keep H8104 (QalImpf) the whole form H6699 thereof, and all the ordinances H2708 thereof, and do H6213 (QalPerf) them.

και αυτοι λημψονται την κολασιν αυτων περι παντων ων εποιησαν και διαγραψεις τον οικον και τας εξοδους αυτου και την υποστασιν αυτου και παντα τα προσταγματα αυτου και παντα τα νομιμα αυτου γνωριεις αυτοις και διαγραψεις εναντιον αυτων και φυλαξονται παντα τα δικαιωματα μου και παντα τα προσταγματα μου και ποιησουσιν αυτα

“This is the law of the house. On the top of the mountain the whole limit around it shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the house.

και την διαγραφην του οικου επι της κορυφης του ορους παντα τα ορια αυτου κυκλοθεν αγια αγιων

You shall also take the bull of the sin offering, and it shall be burned in the appointed place of the house, outside of the sanctuary.

Thou shalt take H3947 (QalPerf) the bullock H6499 also of the sin offering, H2403 and he shall burn H8313 (QalPerf) it in the appointed place H4662 of the house, H1004 without H2351 the sanctuary. H4720

και λημψονται τον μοσχον τον περι αμαρτιας και κατακαυθησεται εν τω αποκεχωρισμενω του οικου εξωθεν των αγιων

Then he brought me by the way of the north gate before the house; and I looked, and behold, Yahweh’s glory filled Yahweh’s house; so I fell on my face.

και εισηγαγεν με κατα την οδον της πυλης της προς βορραν κατεναντι του οικου και ειδον και ιδου πληρης δοξης ο οικος κυριου και πιπτω επι προσωπον μου

Yahweh said to me, “Son of man, mark well, and see with your eyes, and hear with your ears all that I tell you concerning all the ordinances of Yahweh’s house and all its laws; and mark well the entrance of the house, with every exit of the sanctuary.

And the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto me, Son H1121 of man, H120 mark H7760 (QalImpv) well, H3820 and behold H7200 (QalImpv) with thine eyes, H5869 and hear H8085 (QalImpv) with thine ears H241 all that I say H1696 (PielPtc) unto thee concerning all the ordinances H2708 of the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and all the laws H8451 thereof; and mark H7760 (QalPerf) well H3820 the entering in H3996 of the house, H1004 with every going forth H4161 of the sanctuary. και ειπεν κυριος προς με υιε ανθρωπου ταξον εις την καρδιαν σου και ιδε τοις οφθαλμοις σου και τοις ωσιν σου ακουε παντα οσα εγω λαλω μετα σου κατα παντα τα προσταγματα οικου κυριου και κατα παντα τα νομιμα αυτου και ταξεις την καρδιαν σου εις την εισοδον του οικου κατα πασας τας εξοδους αυτου εν πασι τοις αγιοις

You shall tell the rebellious, even the house of Israel, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “You house of Israel, let that be enough of all your abominations,

και ερεις προς τον οικον τον παραπικραινοντα προς τον οικον του ισραηλ ταδε λεγει κυριος ο θεος ικανουσθω υμιν απο πασων των ανομιων υμων οικος ισραηλ

in that you have brought in foreigners, uncircumcised in heart and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to profane it, even my house, when you offer my bread, the fat and the blood; and they have broken my covenant, to add to all your abominations.

In that ye have brought H935 (HiphInf) [into my sanctuary] strangers, H1121 H5236 uncircumcised H6189 in heart, H3820 and uncircumcised H6189 in flesh, H1320 to be in my sanctuary, H4720 to pollute H2490 (PielInf) it, [even] my house, H1004 when ye offer H7126 (HiphInf) my bread, H3899 the fat H2459 and the blood, H1818 and they have broken H6565 (HiphImpf) my covenant H1285 because H413 of all your abominations. του εισαγαγειν υμας υιους αλλογενεις απεριτμητους καρδια και απεριτμητους σαρκι του γινεσθαι εν τοις αγιοις μου και εβεβηλουν αυτα εν τω προσφερειν υμας αρτους στεαρ και αιμα και παρεβαινετε την διαθηκην μου εν πασαις ταις ανομιαις υμων

Yet they shall be ministers in my sanctuary, having oversight at the gates of the house, and ministering in the house. They shall kill the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall stand before them to minister to them.

Yet they shall be ministers H8334 (PielPtc) in my sanctuary, H4720 [having] charge H6486 at the gates H8179 of the house, H1004 and ministering H8334 (PielPtc) to the house: H1004 they shall slay H7819 (QalImpf) the burnt offering H5930 and the sacrifice H2077 for the people, H5971 and they shall stand H5975 (QalImpf) before H6440 them to minister H8334 (PielInf) unto them.

και εσονται εν τοις αγιοις μου λειτουργουντες θυρωροι επι των πυλων του οικου και λειτουργουντες τω οικω ουτοι σφαξουσιν τα ολοκαυτωματα και τας θυσιας τω λαω και ουτοι στησονται εναντιον του λαου του λειτουργειν αυτοις

Because they ministered to them before their idols, and became a stumbling block of iniquity to the house of Israel, therefore I have lifted up my hand against them,” says the Lord Yahweh, “and they will bear their iniquity.

ανθ ων ελειτουργουν αυτοις προ προσωπου των ειδωλων αυτων και εγενετο τω οικω ισραηλ εις κολασιν αδικιας ενεκα τουτου ηρα την χειρα μου επ αυτους λεγει κυριος ο θεος

Yet I will make them performers of the duty of the house, for all its service and for all that will be done therein.

But I will make H5414 (QalPerf) them keepers H8104 (QalActPtc) of the charge H4931 of the house, H1004 for all the service H5656 thereof, and for all that shall be done H6213 (NiphImpf) therein.

και καταταξουσιν αυτους φυλασσειν φυλακας του οικου εις παντα τα εργα αυτου και εις παντα οσα αν ποιησωσιν
