In every province and in every city, wherever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had gladness, joy, a feast and a holiday. Many from among the peoples of the land became Jews, for the fear of the Jews had fallen on them.

And in every province, H4082 and in every city, H5892 whithersoever H4725 the king’s H4428 commandment H1697 and his decree H1881 came, H5060 (HiphPtc) the Jews H3064 had joy H8057 and gladness, H8342 a feast H4960 and a good H2896 day. and in every province and province, and in every city and city, the place where the word of the king, even his law, is coming, gladness and joy are to the Jews, a banquet, and a good day; and many of the peoples of the land are becoming Jews, for a fear of the Jews hath fallen upon them.

Now in the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, on the thirteenth day of the month, when the king’s commandment and his decree came near to be put in execution, on the day that the enemies of the Jews hoped to conquer them, (but it turned out that the opposite happened, that the Jews conquered those who hated them),

Now in the twelfth H8147 H6240 month, H2320 that [is], the month H2320 Adar, H143 on the thirteenth H7969 H6240 day H3117 of the same, when the king’s H4428 commandment H1697 and his decree H1881 drew near H5060 (HiphPerf) to be put in execution, H6213 (NiphInf) in the day H3117 that the enemies H341 (QalActPtc) of the Jews H3064 hoped H7663 (PielPerf) to have power H7980 (QalInf) over them, (though it was turned H2015 (NiphInf) to the contrary, that the Jews H3064 had rule H7980 (QalImpf) over them that hated H8130 (QalActPtc) them;)

And in the twelfth month-it is the month of Adar-on the thirteenth day of it, in which the word of the king, even his law, hath come to be done, in the day that the enemies of the Jews had hoped to rule over them, and it is turned that the Jews rule over those hating them-

Then Esther said, “If it pleases the king, let it be granted to the Jews who are in Susa to do tomorrow also according to today’s decree, and let Haman’s ten sons be hanged on the gallows.”

And Esther saith, ‘If to the king it be good, let it be given also to-morrow, to the Jews who are in Shushan, to do according to the law of to-day; and the ten sons of Haman they hang on the tree.’

The Jews who were in Susa gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and killed three hundred men in Susa; but they didn’t lay their hand on the plunder.

For the Jews H3064 that [were] in Shushan H7800 gathered themselves together H6950 (NiphImpf) on the fourteenth H702 H6240 day H3117 also of the month H2320 Adar, H143 and slew H2026 (QalImpf) three H7969 hundred H3967 men H376 at Shushan; H7800 but on the prey H961 they laid H7971 (QalPerf) not their hand. And the Jews who are in Shushan are assembled also on the fourteenth day of the month of Adar, and they slay in Shushan three hundred men, and on the prey they have not put forth their hand.

The other Jews who were in the king’s provinces gathered themselves together, defended their lives, had rest from their enemies, and killed seventy-five thousand of those who hated them; but they didn’t lay their hand on the plunder.

But the other H7605 Jews H3064 that [were] in the king’s H4428 provinces H4082 gathered themselves together, H6950 (NiphPerf) and stood H5975 (QalInf) for their lives, H5315 and had rest H5118 from their enemies, H341 (QalActPtc) and slew H2026 (QalInf) of their foes H8130 (QalActPtc) seventy H7657 and five H2568 thousand, H505 but they laid H7971 (QalPerf) not their hands H3027 on the prey, H961

And the rest of the Jews, who are in the provinces of the king, have been assembled, even to stand for their life, and to rest from their enemies, and to slay among those hating them five and seventy thousand, and on the prey they have not put forth their hand;

But the Jews who were in Susa assembled together on the thirteenth and on the fourteenth days of the month; and on the fifteenth day of that month, they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

But the Jews H3064 that [were] at Shushan H7800 assembled together H6950 (NiphPerf) on the thirteenth H7969 H6240 [day] thereof, and on the fourteenth H702 H6240 thereof; and on the fifteenth H2568 H6240 [day] of the same they rested, H5118 and made H6213 (QalInf) it a day H3117 of feasting H4960 and gladness. And the Jews who are in Shushan have been assembled, on the thirteenth day of it, and on the fourteenth of it, even to rest on the fifteenth of it, and to make it a day of banquet and of joy.

Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters to all the Jews who were in all the provinces of the King Ahasuerus, both near and far,

And Mordecai writeth these things, and sendeth letters unto all the Jews who are in all provinces of the king Ahasuerus, who are near and who are far off,

as the days in which the Jews had rest from their enemies, and the month which was turned to them from sorrow to gladness, and from mourning into a holiday; that they should make them days of feasting and gladness, and of sending presents of food to one another, and gifts to the needy.

as days on which the Jews have rested from their enemies, and the month that hath been turned to them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning to a good day, to make them days of banquet and of joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the needy.

The Jews accepted the custom that they had begun, as Mordecai had written to them,

And the Jews H3064 undertook H6901 (PielPerf) to do H6213 (QalInf) as they had begun, H2490 (HiphPerf) and as Mordecai H4782 had written H3789 (QalPerf) unto them;

And the Jews have received that which they had begun to do, and that which Mordecai hath written unto them,

but when this became known to the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked plan, which he had planned against the Jews, should return on his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

But when [Esther] came H935 (QalInf) before H6440 the king, H4428 he commanded H559 (QalPerf) by letters H5612 that his wicked H7451 device, H4284 which he devised H2803 (QalPerf) against the Jews, H3064 should return H7725 (QalImpf) upon his own head, H7218 and that he and his sons H1121 should be hanged H8518 (QalPerf) on the gallows. and in her coming in before the king, he said with the letter, ‘Let his evil device that he devised against the Jews turn back upon his own head,’ and they have hanged him and his sons on the tree,

Aren’t all the acts of his power and of his might, and the full account of the greatness of Mordecai, to which the king advanced him, written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Media and Persia?

and all the work of his strength, and his might, and the explanation of the greatness of Mordecai with which the king made him great, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of Media and Persia?

Why is light given to a man whose way is hidden, whom God has hedged in?

[Why is light given] to a man H1397 whose way H1870 is hid, H5641 (NiphPerf) and whom God H433 hath hedged in? H5526 (HiphImpf)

To a man whose way hath been hidden, And whom God doth shut up?

For the thing which I fear comes on me, that which I am afraid of comes to me.

For the thing which I greatly H6343 feared H6342 (QalPerf) is come H857 (QalImpf) upon me, and that which I was afraid H3025 (QalPerf) of is come H935 (QalImpf) unto me.

For a fear I feared and it meeteth me, And what I was afraid of doth come to me.

According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble, reap the same.

Even as I have seen, H7200 (QalPerf) they that plow H2790 (QalActPtc) iniquity, H205 and sow H2232 (QalActPtc) wickedness, H5999 reap H7114 (QalImpf) the same.

As I have seen-ploughers of iniquity, And sowers of misery, reap it!

How much more those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed before the moth!

How much less H637 [in] them that dwell H7931 (QalActPtc) in houses H1004 of clay, H2563 whose foundation H3247 [is] in the dust, H6083 [which] are crushed H1792 (PielImpf) before H6440 the moth? H6211

Also-the inhabitants of houses of clay, (Whose foundation is in the dust, They bruise them before a moth.)

whose confidence will break apart, whose trust is a spider’s web.

Whose hope H3689 shall be cut off, H6990 (QalImpf) and whose trust H4009 [shall be] a spider’s H5908 web. H1004

Whose confidence is loathsome, And the house of a spider his trust.

He removes the mountains, and they don’t know it, when he overturns them in his anger.

Which removeth H6275 (HiphPtc) the mountains, H2022 and they know H3045 (QalPerf) not: which overturneth H2015 (QalPerf) them in his anger. H639

Who is removing mountains, And they have not known, Who hath overturned them in His anger.

The tents of robbers prosper. Those who provoke God are secure, who carry their god in their hands.

The tabernacles H168 of robbers H7703 (QalActPtc) prosper, H7951 (QalImpf) and they that provoke H7264 (HiphPtc) God H410 are secure; H987 into whose hand H3027 God H433 bringeth H935 (HiphPerf) [abundantly].

At peace are the tents of spoilers, And those provoking God have confidence, He into whose hand God hath brought.

in whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind?

In whose hand H3027 [is] the soul H5315 of every living thing, H2416 and the breath H7307 of all mankind. H376 H1320

In whose hand is the breath of every living thing, And the spirit of all flesh of man.’

(which wise men have told by their fathers, and have not hidden it;

Which wise H2450 men have told H5046 (HiphImpf) from their fathers, H1 and have not hid H3582 (PielPerf) [it]:

Which the wise declare- And have not hid-from their fathers.

He has lived in desolate cities, in houses which no one inhabited, which were ready to become heaps.

And he dwelleth H7931 (QalImpf) in desolate H3582 (NiphPtc) cities, H5892 [and] in houses H1004 which no man inhabiteth, H3427 (QalImpf) which are ready H6257 (HithPerf) to become heaps. H1530

And he inhabiteth cities cut off, houses not dwelt in, That have been ready to become heaps.

whom I, even I, will see on my side. My eyes will see, and not as a stranger. “My heart is consumed within me.

Whom I shall see H2372 (QalImpf) for myself, and mine eyes H5869 shall behold, H7200 (QalPerf) and not another; H2114 (QalPtc) [though] my reins H3629 be consumed H3615 (QalPerf) within H2436 me.

Whom I-I see on my side, And mine eyes have beheld, and not a stranger, Consumed have been my reins in my bosom.

Will you keep the old way, which wicked men have trodden,

Hast thou marked H8104 (QalImpf) the old H5769 way H734 which wicked H205 men H4962 have trodden? H1869 (QalPerf)

The path of the age dost thou observe, That men of iniquity have trodden?

who were snatched away before their time, whose foundation was poured out as a stream,

Which were cut down H7059 (PualPerf) out of time, H6256 whose foundation H3247 was overflown H3332 (HophImpf) with a flood: H5104

Who have been cut down unexpectedly, A flood is poured out on their foundation.

I will teach you about the hand of God. I will not conceal that which is with the Almighty.

I will teach H3384 (HiphImpf) you by the hand H3027 of God: H410 [that] which [is] with the Almighty H7706 will I not conceal. H3582 (PielImpf)

I shew you by the hand of God, That which is with the Mighty I hide not.

“But now those who are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I considered unworthy to put with my sheep dogs.

But now [they that are] younger H6810 H3117 than I have me in derision, H7832 (QalPerf) whose fathers H1 I would have disdained H3988 (QalPerf) to have set H7896 (QalInf) with the dogs H3611 of my flock. H6629

And now, laughed at me, Have the younger in days than I, Whose fathers I have loathed to set With the dogs of my flock.

Also his wrath was kindled against his three friends, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.

and against his three friends hath his anger burned, because that they have not found an answer, and condemn Job.

He doesn’t respect the persons of princes, nor respect the rich more than the poor, for they all are the work of his hands.

[How much less to him] that accepteth H5375 (QalPerf) not the persons H6440 of princes, H8269 nor regardeth H5234 (PielPerf) the rich H7771 more than H6440 the poor? H1800 for they all [are] the work H4639 of his hands. H3027

That hath not accepted the person of princes, Nor hath known the rich before the poor, For a work of His hands are all of them.

because they turned away from following him, and wouldn’t pay attention to any of his ways,

Because that against right They have turned aside from after Him, And none of His ways have considered wisely,

“Remember that you magnify his work, about which men have sung.

Remember that thou magnify His work That men have beheld.

which the skies pour down and which drop on man abundantly.

Which clouds do drop, They distil on man abundantly.

It is turned around by his guidance, that they may do whatever he commands them on the surface of the habitable world,

And it is turned H2015 (HithPtc) round about H4524 by his counsels: H8458 that they may do H6467 whatsoever he commandeth H6680 (PielImpf) them upon the face H6440 of the world H8398 in the earth. H776

And it is turning itself round by His counsels, For their doing all He commandeth them, On the face of the habitable earth.

You whose clothing is warm when the earth is still by reason of the south wind?

How thy garments H899 [are] warm, H2525 when he quieteth H8252 (HiphInf) the earth H776 by the south H1864 [wind]?

How thy garments are warm, In the quieting of the earth from the south?

which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?

Which I have reserved H2820 (QalPerf) against the time H6256 of trouble, H6862 against the day H3117 of battle H7128 and war? H4421

That I have kept back for a time of distress, For a day of conflict and battle.

whose home I have made the wilderness, and the salt land his dwelling place?

Whose house I have made the wilderness, And his dwellings the barren land,

His young ones also suck up blood. Where the slain are, there he is.”

And his brood gulp up blood, And where the pierced are-there is he!

“See now behemoth, which I made as well as you. He eats grass as an ox.

Lo, I pray thee, Behemoth, that I made with thee: Grass as an ox he eateth.

Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers;

O the happiness of that one, who Hath not walked in the counsel of the wicked. And in the way of sinners hath not stood, And in the seat of scorners hath not sat;

He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper.

And he hath been as a tree, Planted by rivulets of water, That giveth its fruit in its season, And its leaf doth not wither, And all that he doth he causeth to prosper.

The wicked are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away.

The ungodly H7563 [are] not so: but [are] like the chaff H4671 which the wind H7307 driveth away. H5086 (QalImpf)

Not so the wicked: But-as chaff that wind driveth away!

I will not be afraid of tens of thousands of people who have set themselves against me on every side.

I will not be afraid H3372 (QalImpf) of ten thousands H7233 of people, H5971 that have set H7896 (QalPerf) [themselves] against me round about. H5439

I am not afraid of myriads of people, That round about they have set against me.

Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens!

O Lord H3068 our Lord, H113 how excellent H117 [is] thy name H8034 in all the earth! H776 who hast set H5414 (QalImpv) thy glory H1935 above H5921 the heavens. H8064

Jehovah, our Lord, How honourable Thy name in all the earth! Who settest thine honour on the heavens.

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained,

When I consider H7200 (QalImpf) thy heavens, H8064 the work H4639 of thy fingers, H676 the moon H3394 and the stars, H3556 which thou hast ordained; H3559 (PolePerf)

For I see Thy heavens, a work of Thy fingers, Moon and stars that Thou didst establish.

who have said, “With our tongue we will prevail. Our lips are our own. Who is lord over us?”

Who have said, H559 (QalPerf) With our tongue H3956 will we prevail; H1396 (HiphImpf) our lips H8193 [are] our own: who [is] lord H113 over us?

Who said, ‘By our tongue we do mightily: Our lips are our own; who is lord over us?’

As for the saints who are in the earth, they are the excellent ones in whom is all my delight.

[But] to the saints H6918 that H1992 [are] in the earth, H776 and [to] the excellent, H117 in whom [is] all my delight. H2656

For the holy ones who are in the land, And the honourable, all my delight is in them.

I will bless Yahweh, who has given me counsel. Yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.

I will bless H1288 (PielImpf) the Lord, H3068 who hath given me counsel: H3289 (QalPerf) my reins H3629 also instruct H3256 (PielPerf) me in the night seasons. H3915

I bless Jehovah who hath counselled me; Also in the nights my reins instruct me.

He who has clean hands and a pure heart; who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood, and has not sworn deceitfully.

He that hath clean H5355 hands, H3709 and a pure H1249 heart; H3824 who hath not lifted up H5375 (QalPerf) his soul H5315 unto vanity, H7723 nor sworn H7650 (NiphPerf) deceitfully. H4820

The clean of hands, and pure of heart, Who hath not lifted up to vanity his soul, Nor hath sworn to deceit.

in whose hands is wickedness; their right hand is full of bribes.

In whose hand is a wicked device, And their right hand is full of bribes.

I will be glad and rejoice in your loving kindness, for you have seen my affliction. You have known my soul in adversities.

I rejoice, and am glad in Thy kindness, In that Thou hast seen mine affliction, Thou hast known in adversities my soul.

Oh how great is your goodness, which you have laid up for those who fear you, which you have worked for those who take refuge in you, before the sons of men!
