He came to a certain place, and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. He took one of the stones of the place, and put it under his head, and lay down in that place to sleep.

και απηντησεν τοπω και εκοιμηθη εκει εδυ γαρ ο ηλιος και ελαβεν απο των λιθων του τοπου και εθηκεν προς κεφαλης αυτου και εκοιμηθη εν τω τοπω εκεινω

και λεγουσιν αυτω ο θεος των εβραιων προσκεκληται ημας πορευσομεθα ουν οδον τριων ημερων εις την ερημον οπως θυσωμεν τω θεω ημων μηποτε συναντηση ημιν θανατος η φονος

“If you meet your enemy’s ox or his donkey going astray, you shall surely bring it back to him again.

εαν δε συναντησης τω βοι του εχθρου σου η τω υποζυγιω αυτου πλανωμενοις αποστρεψας αποδωσεις αυτω

The avenger of blood shall himself put the murderer to death. When he meets him, he shall put him to death.

The revenger H1350 (QalActPtc) of blood H1818 himself shall slay H4191 (HiphImpf) the murderer: H7523 (QalActPtc) when he meeteth H6293 (QalInf) him, he H1931 shall slay H4191 (HiphImpf) him.

ο αγχιστευων το αιμα ουτος αποκτενει τον φονευσαντα οταν συναντηση αυτω ουτος αποκτενει αυτον

or in hostility struck him with his hand, so that he died, he who struck him shall surely be put to death. He is a murderer. The avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death when he meets him.

η δια μηνιν επαταξεν αυτον τη χειρι και αποθανη θανατω θανατουσθω ο παταξας φονευτης εστιν θανατω θανατουσθω ο φονευων ο αγχιστευων το αιμα αποκτενει τον φονευσαντα εν τω συναντησαι αυτω

She said to them, “Go to the mountain, lest the pursuers find you. Hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers have returned. Afterward, you may go your way.”

Southward it was Ephraim’s, and northward it was Manasseh’s, and the sea was his border. They reached to Asher on the north, and to Issachar on the east.

Their border went up westward, even to Maralah, and reached to Dabbesheth. It reached to the brook that is before Jokneam.

The border reached to Tabor, Shahazumah, and Beth Shemesh. Their border ended at the Jordan: sixteen cities with their villages.

και συναψει τα ορια επι γαιθβωρ και επι σαλιμ κατα θαλασσαν και βαιθσαμυς και εσται αυτου η διεξοδος των οριων ο ιορδανης

και ειπεν ζεβεε και σαλμανα αναστα δη συ και απαντησον ημιν οτι ως ανηρ η δυναμις αυτου και ανεστη γεδεων και ανειλεν τον ζεβεε και τον σαλμανα και ελαβεν τους μηνισκους τους εν τοις τραχηλοις των καμηλων αυτων

They said to him, “We have come down to bind you, that we may deliver you into the hand of the Philistines.” Samson said to them, “Swear to me that you will not attack me yourselves.”

και ειπον προς αυτον οι υιοι δαν μη ακουσθητω δη η φωνη σου μεθ ημων μηποτε απαντησωσιν υμιν ανδρες κατωδυνοι ψυχη και προσθησεις την ψυχην σου και την ψυχην του οικου σου

Ruth said, “Don’t urge me to leave you, and to return from following you, for where you go, I will go; and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God^§ my God.

The king said to Doeg, “Turn and attack the priests!” Doeg the Edomite turned, and he attacked the priests, and he killed on that day eighty-five people who wore a linen ephod.

David called one of the young men and said, “Go near, and cut him down!” He struck him so that he died.

King Solomon sent Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell on him, so that he died.

King Solomon was told, “Joab has fled to Yahweh’s Tent; and behold, he is by the altar.” Then Solomon sent Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, saying, “Go, fall on him.”

The king said to him, “Do as he has said, and fall on him, and bury him, that you may take away the blood, which Joab shed without cause, from me and from my father’s house.

και ειπεν αυτω ο βασιλευς πορευου και ποιησον αυτω καθως ειρηκεν και ανελε αυτον και θαψεις αυτον και εξαρεις σημερον το αιμα ο δωρεαν εξεχεεν ιωαβ απ εμου και απο του οικου του πατρος μου

Yahweh will return his blood on his own head, because he fell on two men more righteous and better than he, and killed them with the sword, and my father David didn’t know it: Abner the son of Ner, captain of the army of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the army of Judah.

και απεστρεψεν κυριος το αιμα της αδικιας αυτου εις κεφαλην αυτου ως απηντησεν τοις δυσιν ανθρωποις τοις δικαιοις και αγαθοις υπερ αυτον και απεκτεινεν αυτους εν ρομφαια και ο πατηρ μου δαυιδ ουκ εγνω το αιμα αυτων τον αβεννηρ υιον νηρ αρχιστρατηγον ισραηλ και τον αμεσσα υιον ιεθερ αρχιστρατηγον ιουδα

Then Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up and fell on him, and killed him; and he was buried in his own house in the wilderness.

So Benaiah H1141 the son H1121 of Jehoiada H3077 went up, H5927 (QalImpf) and fell H6293 (QalImpf) upon him, and slew H4191 (HiphImpf) him: and he was buried H6912 (NiphImpf) in his own house H1004 in the wilderness. H4057

και απηντησεν βαναιου υιος ιωδαε τω ιωαβ και εθανατωσεν αυτον και εθαψεν αυτον εν τω οικω αυτου εν τη ερημω

So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he went out, and fell on him, so that he died. The kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.

και ενετειλατο ο βασιλευς σαλωμων τω βαναια υιω ιωδαε και εξηλθεν και ανειλεν αυτον και απεθανεν

What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? What profit should we have, if we pray to him?’

What [is] the Almighty, H7706 that we should serve H5647 (QalImpf) him? and what profit H3276 (HiphImpf) should we have, if we pray H6293 (QalImpf) unto him?

τι ικανος οτι δουλευσομεν αυτω και τις ωφελεια οτι απαντησομεν αυτω

He covers his hands with the lightning, and commands it to strike the mark.

With clouds H3709 he covereth H3680 (PielPerf) the light; H216 and commandeth H6680 (PielImpf) it [not to shine] by [the cloud] that cometh betwixt. H6293 (HiphPtc)

επι χειρων εκαλυψεν φως και ενετειλατο περι αυτης εν απαντωντι

Your nakedness will be uncovered. Yes, your shame will be seen. I will take vengeance, and will spare no one.”

παντες ως προβατα επλανηθημεν ανθρωπος τη οδω αυτου επλανηθη και κυριος παρεδωκεν αυτον ταις αμαρτιαις ημων

Therefore I will give him a portion with the great. He will divide the plunder with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was counted with the transgressors; yet he bore the sins of many and made intercession for the transgressors.

δια τουτο αυτος κληρονομησει πολλους και των ισχυρων μεριει σκυλα ανθ ων παρεδοθη εις θανατον η ψυχη αυτου και εν τοις ανομοις ελογισθη και αυτος αμαρτιας πολλων ανηνεγκεν και δια τας αμαρτιας αυτων παρεδοθη

He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor. Therefore his own arm brought salvation to him; and his righteousness sustained him.

και ειδεν και ουκ ην ανηρ και κατενοησεν και ουκ ην ο αντιλημψομενος και ημυνατο αυτους τω βραχιονι αυτου και τη ελεημοσυνη εστηρισατο

You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness, those who remember you in your ways. Behold, you were angry, and we sinned. We have been in sin for a long time. Shall we be saved?

^[64:4] συναντησεται γαρ τοις ποιουσιν το δικαιον και των οδων σου μνησθησονται ιδου συ ωργισθης και ημεις ημαρτομεν δια τουτο επλανηθημεν

“Therefore don’t pray for this people. Don’t lift up a cry or prayer for them or make intercession to me; for I will not hear you.

και συ μη προσευχου περι του λαου τουτου και μη αξιου του ελεηθηναι αυτους και μη ευχου και μη προσελθης μοι περι αυτων οτι ουκ εισακουσομαι

Yahweh said, “Most certainly I will strengthen you for good. Most certainly I will cause the enemy to make supplication to you in the time of evil and in the time of affliction.

γενοιτο δεσποτα κατευθυνοντων αυτων ει μη παρεστην σοι εν καιρω των κακων αυτων και εν καιρω θλιψεως αυτων εις αγαθα προς τον εχθρον

But if they are prophets, and if Yahweh’s word is with them, let them now make intercession to Yahweh of Armies, that the vessels which are left in Yahweh’s house, in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, don’t go to Babylon.

Moreover Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the scroll; but he would not listen to them.
