So Joab came to the king and told him; and when he had called for Absalom, he came to the king and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king; and the king kissed Absalom.

And Joab cometh unto the king, and declareth it to him, and he calleth unto Absalom, and he cometh unto the king, and boweth himself to him, on his face, to the earth, before the king, and the king giveth a kiss to Absalom.

Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate. When any man had a suit which should come to the king for judgment, then Absalom called to him, and said, “What city are you from?” He said, “Your servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.”

and Absalom hath risen early, and stood by the side of the way of the gate, and it cometh to pass, every man who hath a pleading to come unto the king for judgment, that Absalom calleth unto him, and saith, ‘Of what city art thou?’ and he saith, ‘Of one of the tribes of Israel is thy servant.’

Absalom said moreover, “Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man who has any suit or cause might come to me, and I would do him justice!”

Absalom H53 said H559 (QalImpf) moreover, Oh that I were made H7760 (QalImpf) judge H8199 (QalActPtc) in the land, H776 that every man H376 which hath any suit H7379 or cause H4941 might come H935 (QalImpf) unto me, and I would do him justice! H6663 (HiphPerf)

And Absalom saith, ‘Who doth make me a judge in the land, that unto me doth come every man who hath a plea and judgment?-then I have declared him righteous.’

Absalom did this sort of thing to all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.

And on this manner H1697 did H6213 (QalImpf) Absalom H53 to all Israel H3478 that came H935 (QalImpf) to the king H4428 for judgment: H4941 so Absalom H53 stole H1589 (PielImpf) the hearts H3820 of the men H582 of Israel. H3478

and Absalom doth according to this thing to all Israel who come in for judgment unto the king, and Absalom stealeth the heart of the men of Israel.

A messenger came to David, saying, “The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom.”

And there came H935 (QalImpf) a messenger H5046 (HiphPtc) to David, H1732 saying, H559 (QalInf) The hearts H3820 of the men H376 of Israel H3478 are after H310 Absalom. H53

And he who is declaring tidings cometh in unto David, saying, ‘The heart of the men of Israel hath been after Absalom.’

All his servants passed on beside him; and all the Cherethites, and all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men who came after him from Gath, passed on before the king.

And all his servants H5650 passed on H5674 (QalActPtc) beside H3027 him; and all the Cherethites, H3774 and all the Pelethites, H6432 and all the Gittites, H1663 six H8337 hundred H3967 men H376 which came H935 (QalPerf) after H7272 him from Gath, H1661 passed on H5674 (QalActPtc) before H6440 the king. And all his servants are passing on at his side, and all the Cherethite, and all the Pelethite, and all the Gittites, six hundred men who came at his feet from Gath, are passing on at the front of the king.

Whereas you came but yesterday, should I today make you go up and down with us, since I go where I may? Return, and take back your brothers. Mercy and truth be with you.”

Whereas thou camest H935 (QalInf) [but] yesterday, H8543 should I this day H3117 make thee go H3212 (QalInf) up and down H5128 (HiphImpf) (Qere) H5128 (QalImpf) with us? seeing I go H1980 (QalActPtc) whither I may, return H7725 (QalImpv) thou, and take back H7725 (HiphImpv) thy brethren: H251 mercy H2617 and truth H571 [be] with thee.

Yesterday is thy coming in, and to-day I move thee to go with us, and I am going on that which I am going!-turn back, and take back thy brethren with thee,-kindness and truth.’

Behold, I will stay at the fords of the wilderness until word comes from you to inform me.”

See, H7200 (QalImpv) I will tarry H4102 (HippPtc) in the plain H6160 (Qere) H5679 of the wilderness, H4057 until there come H935 (QalInf) word H1697 from you to certify H5046 (HiphInf) me.

see ye, I am tarrying in the plains of the wilderness till the coming in of a word from you to declare to me.’

When David had come to the top, where God was worshiped, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his tunic torn and earth on his head.

And it came to pass, that [when] David H1732 was come H935 (QalPerf) to the top H7218 [of the mount], where he worshipped H7812 (HithImpf) God, H430 behold, Hushai H2365 the Archite H757 came to meet H7125 (QalInf) him with his coat H3801 rent, H7167 (QalPasPtc) and earth H127 upon his head: H7218

And it cometh to pass, David hath come unto the top, where he boweth himself to God, and lo, to meet him is Hushai the Archite, his coat rent, and earth on his head;

So Hushai, David’s friend, came into the city; and Absalom came into Jerusalem.

So Hushai H2365 David’s H1732 friend H7463 came H935 (QalImpf) into the city, H5892 and Absalom H53 came H935 (QalImpf) into Jerusalem. H3389

And Hushai, David’s friend, cometh in to the city, and Absalom cometh in to Jerusalem.

When King David came to Bahurim, behold, a man of the family of Saul’s house came out, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera. He came out and cursed as he came.

And when king H4428 David H1732 came H935 (QalPerf) to Bahurim, H980 behold, thence came out H3318 (QalActPtc) a man H376 of the family H4940 of the house H1004 of Saul, H7586 whose name H8034 [was] Shimei, H8096 the son H1121 of Gera: H1617 he came forth, H3318 (QalActPtc) and cursed H7043 (PielPtc) still as he came. And king David hath come in unto Bahurim, and lo, thence a man is coming out, of the family of the house of Saul, and his name is Shimei, son of Gera, he cometh out, coming out and reviling;

The king and all the people who were with him arrived weary; and he refreshed himself there.

And the king, H4428 and all the people H5971 that [were] with him, came H935 (QalImpf) weary, H5889 and refreshed H5314 (NiphImpf) themselves there.

And the king cometh in, and all the people who are with him, wearied, and they are refreshed there.

Absalom and all the people, the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

And Absalom, H53 and all the people H5971 the men H376 of Israel, H3478 came H935 (QalPerf) to Jerusalem, H3389 and Ahithophel H302 with him.

And Absalom and all the people, the men of Israel, have come in to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him,

When Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, had come to Absalom, Hushai said to Absalom, “Long live the king! Long live the king!”

And it came to pass, when Hushai H2365 the Archite, H757 David’s H1732 friend, H7463 was come H935 (QalPerf) unto Absalom, H53 that Hushai H2365 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Absalom, H53 God save H2421 (QalImpf) the king, H4428 God save H2421 (QalImpf) the king. H4428

and it cometh to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, hath come unto Absalom, that Hushai saith unto Absalom, ‘Let the king live! let the king live!’

Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Go in to your father’s concubines that he has left to keep the house. Then all Israel will hear that you are abhorred by your father. Then the hands of all who are with you will be strong.”

And Ahithophel H302 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Absalom, H53 Go in H935 (QalImpv) unto thy father’s H1 concubines, H6370 which he hath left H3240 (HiphPerf) to keep H8104 (QalInf) the house; H1004 and all Israel H3478 shall hear H8085 (QalPerf) that thou art abhorred H887 (NiphPerf) of thy father: H1 then shall the hands H3027 of all that [are] with thee be strong. And Ahithophel saith unto Absalom, ‘Go in unto the concubines of thy father, whom he left to keep the house, and all Israel hath heard that thou hast been abhorred by thy father, and the hands of all who are with thee have been strong.’

So they spread a tent for Absalom on the top of the house, and Absalom went in to his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.

So they spread H5186 (HiphImpf) Absalom H53 a tent H168 upon the top of the house; H1406 and Absalom H53 went in H935 (QalImpf) unto his father’s H1 concubines H6370 in the sight H5869 of all Israel. H3478

And they spread out for Absalom the tent on the roof, and Absalom goeth in unto the concubines of his father before the eyes of all Israel.

I will come on him while he is weary and exhausted, and will make him afraid. All the people who are with him will flee. I will strike the king only,

And I will come H935 (QalImpf) upon him while he [is] weary H3023 and weak H7504 handed, H3027 and will make him afraid: H2729 (HiphPerf) and all the people H5971 that [are] with him shall flee; H5127 (QalPerf) and I will smite H5221 (HiphPerf) the king H4428 only:

and come upon him, and he weary and feeble-handed, and I have caused him to tremble, and all the people have fled who are with him, and I have smitten the king by himself,

When Hushai had come to Absalom, Absalom spoke to him, saying, “Ahithophel has spoken like this. Shall we do what he says? If not, speak up.”

And when Hushai H2365 was come H935 (QalImpf) to Absalom, H53 Absalom H53 spake H559 (QalImpf) unto him, saying, H559 (QalInf) Ahithophel H302 hath spoken H1696 (PielPerf) after this manner: H1697 shall we do H6213 (QalImpf) [after] his saying? H1697 if not; speak H1696 (PielImpv) thou.

And Hushai cometh in unto Absalom, and Absalom speaketh unto him, saying, ‘According to this word hath Ahithophel spoken; do we do his word? if not, thou-speak thou.’

So we will come on him in some place where he will be found, and we will light on him as the dew falls on the ground, then we will not leave so much as one of him and of all the men who are with him.

So shall we come H935 (QalPerf) upon him in some H259 place H4725 where he shall be found, H4672 (NiphPerf) and we will light H5168 upon him as the dew H2919 falleth H5307 (QalImpf) on the ground: H127 and of him and of all the men H582 that [are] with him there shall not be left H3498 (NiphPerf) so much as H1571 one. and we have come in unto him in one of the places where he is found, and we are upon him as the dew falleth on the ground, and there hath not been left of him and of all the men who are with him even one.

Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel.” For Yahweh had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that Yahweh might bring evil on Absalom.

And Absalom H53 and all the men H376 of Israel H3478 said, H559 (QalImpf) The counsel H6098 of Hushai H2365 the Archite H757 [is] better H2896 than the counsel H6098 of Ahithophel. H302 For the Lord H3068 had appointed H6680 (PielPerf) to defeat H6565 (HiphInf) the good H2896 counsel H6098 of Ahithophel, H302 to the intent H5668 that the Lord H3068 might bring H935 (HiphInf) evil H7451 upon Absalom. H53

And Absalom saith-and all the men of Israel-‘Better is the counsel of Hushai the Archite than the counsel of Ahithophel;’ and Jehovah willed to make void the good counsel of Ahithophel for the sake of Jehovah’s bringing unto Absalom the evil.

Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz were staying by En Rogel; and a female servant used to go and report to them, and they went and told King David; for they couldn’t risk being seen coming into the city.

Now Jonathan H3083 and Ahimaaz H290 stayed H5975 (QalActPtc) by Enrogel; H5883 for they might H3201 (QalImpf) not be seen H7200 (NiphInf) to come H935 (QalInf) into the city: H5892 and a wench H8198 went H1980 (QalPerf) and told H5046 (HiphPerf) them; and they went H3212 (QalImpf) and told H5046 (HiphPerf) king H4428 David. H1732

And Jonathan and Ahimaaz are standing at En-Rogel, and the maid-servant hath gone and declared to them-and they go and have declared it to king David-for they are not able to be seen to go in to the city.

But a boy saw them, and told Absalom. Then they both went away quickly and came to the house of a man in Bahurim, who had a well in his court; and they went down there.

Nevertheless a lad H5288 saw H7200 (QalImpf) them, and told H5046 (HiphImpf) Absalom: H53 but they went H3212 (QalImpf) both H8147 of them away quickly, H4120 and came H935 (QalImpf) to a man’s H376 house H1004 in Bahurim, H980 which had a well H875 in his court; H2691 whither H8033 they went down. And a youth seeth them, and declareth to Absalom; and they go on both of them hastily, and come in unto the house of a man in Bahurim, and he hath a well in his court, and they go down there,

Absalom’s servants came to the woman to the house; and they said, “Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan?” The woman said to them, “They have gone over the brook of water.” When they had sought and could not find them, they returned to Jerusalem.

And when Absalom’s H53 servants H5650 came H935 (QalImpf) to the woman H802 to the house, H1004 they said, H559 (QalImpf) Where [is] Ahimaaz H290 and Jonathan? And the servants of Absalom come in unto the woman to the house, and say, ‘Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan?’ and the woman saith to them, ‘They passed over the brook of water;’ and they seek, and have not found, and turn back to Jerusalem.

Then David came to Mahanaim. Absalom passed over the Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.

Then David H1732 came H935 (QalPerf) to Mahanaim. H4266 And Absalom H53 passed over H5674 (QalPerf) Jordan, H3383 he and all the men H376 of Israel H3478 with him.

And David came to Mahanaim, and Absalom passed over the Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him;

Absalom set Amasa over the army instead of Joab. Now Amasa was the son of a man whose name was Ithra the Israelite, who went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah, Joab’s mother.

And Absalom H53 made H7760 (QalPerf) Amasa H6021 captain of the host H6635 instead of Joab: H3097 which Amasa H6021 [was] a man’s H376 son, H1121 whose name H8034 [was] Ithra H3501 an Israelite, H3481 that went in H935 (QalPerf) to Abigail H26 the daughter H1323 of Nahash, H5176 sister H269 to Zeruiah H6870 Joab’s H3097 mother. and Amasa hath Absalom set instead of Joab over the host, and Amasa is a man’s son whose name is Ithra the Israelite who hath gone in unto Abigail, daughter of Nahash, sister of Zeruiah, mother of Joab;

When David had come to Mahanaim, Shobi the son of Nahash of Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and Machir the son of Ammiel of Lodebar, and Barzillai the Gileadite of Rogelim,

And it came to pass, when David H1732 was come H935 (QalInf) to Mahanaim, H4266 that Shobi H7629 the son H1121 of Nahash H5176 of Rabbah H7237 of the children H1121 of Ammon, H5983 and Machir H4353 the son H1121 of Ammiel H5988 of Lodebar, H3810 and Barzillai H1271 the Gileadite H1569 of Rogelim, H7274

And it cometh to pass at the coming in of David to Mahanaim, that Shobi, son of Nahash, from Rabbah of the Bene-Ammon, and Machir son of Ammiel, from Lo-Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite, from Rogelim,

Absalom happened to meet David’s servants. Absalom was riding on his mule, and the mule went under the thick boughs of a great oak; and his head caught hold of the oak, and he was hanging between the sky and earth; and the mule that was under him went on.

And Absalom H53 met H7122 (NiphImpf) the servants H6440 H5650 of David. And Absalom meeteth before the servants of David, and Absalom is riding on the mule, and the mule cometh in under an entangled bough of the great oak, and his head taketh hold on the oak, and he is placed between the heavens and the earth, and the mule that is under him hath passed on.

The watchman said, “I think the running of the first one is like the running of Ahimaaz the son of Zadok.” The king said, “He is a good man, and comes with good news.”

And the watchman H6822 (QalActPtc) said, H559 (QalImpf) Me thinketh H7200 (QalActPtc) the running H4794 of the foremost H7223 is like the running H4794 of Ahimaaz H290 the son H1121 of Zadok. H6659 And the king H4428 said, H559 (QalImpf) He [is] a good H2896 man, H376 and cometh H935 (QalImpf) with good H2896 tidings. H1309

And the watchman saith, ‘I see the running of the first as the running of Ahimaaz son of Zadok.’ And the king saith, ‘This is a good man, and with good tidings he cometh.’

Behold, the Cushite came. The Cushite said, “Good news for my lord the king, for Yahweh has avenged you today of all those who rose up against you.”

And, behold, Cushi H3569 came; H935 (QalActPtc) and Cushi H3569 said, H559 (QalImpf) Tidings, H1319 (HithImpf) my lord H113 the king: H4428 for the Lord H3068 hath avenged H8199 (QalPerf) thee this day H3117 of all them H3027 that rose up H6965 (QalPtc) against thee.

And lo, the Cushite hath come, and the Cushite saith, ‘Let tidings be proclaimed, my lord, O king; for Jehovah hath delivered thee to-day out of the hand of all those rising up against thee.’

The people sneaked into the city that day, as people who are ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.

And the people H5971 gat H935 (QalInf) them by stealth H1589 (HithImpf) that day H3117 into the city, H5892 as people H5971 being ashamed H3637 (NiphPtc) steal away H1589 (HithImpf) when they flee H5127 (QalInf) in battle. H4421

And the people stealeth away, on that day, to go in to the city, as the people steal away, who are ashamed, in their fleeing in battle;

Joab came into the house to the king, and said, “Today you have shamed the faces of all your servants who today have saved your life, and the lives of your sons and of your daughters, and the lives of your wives, and the lives of your concubines;

And Joab H3097 came H935 (QalImpf) into the house H1004 to the king, H4428 and said, H559 (QalImpf) Thou hast shamed H3001 (HiphPerf) this day H3117 the faces H6440 of all thy servants, H5650 which this day H3117 have saved H4422 (PielPtc) thy life, H5315 and the lives H5315 of thy sons H1121 and of thy daughters, H1323 and the lives H5315 of thy wives, H802 and the lives H5315 of thy concubines; H6370

And Joab cometh in unto the king to the house, and saith, ‘Thou hast put to shame to-day the faces of all thy servants, those delivering thy life to-day, and the life of thy sons, and of thy daughters, and the life of thy wives, and the life of thy concubines,

Now therefore arise, go out and speak to comfort your servants; for I swear by Yahweh, if you don’t go out, not a man will stay with you this night. That would be worse to you than all the evil that has happened to you from your youth until now.”

Now therefore arise, H6965 (QalImpv) go forth, H3318 (QalImpv) and speak H1696 (PielImpv) comfortably H3820 unto thy servants: H5650 for I swear H7650 (NiphPerf) by the Lord, H3068 if thou go not forth, H3318 (QalActPtc) there will not tarry H3885 (QalImpf) one H376 with thee this night: H3915 and that will be worse H7489 (QalPerf) unto thee than all the evil H7451 that befell H935 (QalPerf) thee from thy youth H5271 until now.

‘And now, rise, go out and speak unto the heart of thy servants, for by Jehovah I have sworn, that-thou art not going out-there doth not lodge a man with thee to-night; and this is worse for thee than all the evil that hath come upon thee from thy youth till now.’

Then the king arose and sat in the gate. The people were all told, “Behold, the king is sitting in the gate.” All the people came before the king. Now Israel had fled every man to his tent.

Then the king H4428 arose, H6965 (QalImpf) and sat H3427 (QalImpf) in the gate. H8179 And they told H5046 (HiphPerf) unto all the people, H5971 saying, H559 (QalInf) Behold, the king H4428 doth sit H3427 (QalActPtc) in the gate. H8179 And all the people H5971 came H935 (QalImpf) before H6440 the king: H4428 for Israel H3478 had fled H5127 (QalPerf) every man H376 to his tent. H168

And the king riseth, and sitteth in the gate, and to all the people they have declared, saying, ‘Lo, the king is sitting in the gate;’ and all the people come in before the king, and Israel hath fled, each to his tents.

King David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying, “Speak to the elders of Judah, saying, ‘Why are you the last to bring the king back to his house, since the speech of all Israel has come to the king, to return him to his house?

And king David sent unto Zadok and unto Abiathar the priests, saying, ‘Speak ye unto the elders of Judah, saying, Why are ye last to bring back the king unto his house? (and the word of all Israel hath come unto the king, unto his house;)

So the king returned, and came to the Jordan. Judah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to bring the king over the Jordan.

So the king H4428 returned, H7725 (QalImpf) and came H935 (QalImpf) to Jordan. H3383 And Judah H3063 came H935 (QalPerf) to Gilgal, H1537 to go H3212 (QalInf) to meet H7125 (QalInf) the king, H4428 to conduct H5674 the king H4428 over H5674 (HiphInf) Jordan. H3383

And the king turneth back, and cometh in unto the Jordan, and Judah hath come to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to bring the king over the Jordan,

For your servant knows that I have sinned. Therefore behold, I have come today as the first of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king.”

For thy servant H5650 doth know H3045 (QalPerf) that I have sinned: H2398 (QalPerf) therefore, behold, I am come H935 (QalPerf) the first H7223 this day H3117 of all the house H1004 of Joseph H3130 to go down H3381 (QalInf) to meet H7125 (QalInf) my lord H113 the king. H4428

for thy servant hath known that I have sinned; and lo, I have come to-day, first of all the house of Joseph, to go down to meet my lord the king.’

Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king; and he had neither groomed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came home in peace.

And Mephibosheth son of Saul hath come down to meet the king-and he prepared not his feet, nor did he prepare his upper lip, yea, his garments he washed not, even from the day of the going away of the king, till the day that he came in peace-

When he had come to Jerusalem to meet the king, the king said to him, “Why didn’t you go with me, Mephibosheth?”

And it came to pass, when he was come H935 (QalPerf) to Jerusalem H3389 to meet H7125 (QalInf) the king, H4428 that the king H4428 said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Wherefore wentest H1980 (QalPerf) not thou with me, Mephibosheth? H4648

and it cometh to pass, when he hath come to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king saith to him, ‘Why didst thou not go with me, Mephibosheth?’

Mephibosheth said to the king, “Yes, let him take all, because my lord the king has come in peace to his own house.”

And Mephibosheth saith unto the king, ‘Yea, the whole let him take, after that my lord the king hath come in peace unto his house.’

Behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said to the king, “Why have our brothers the men of Judah stolen you away, and brought the king and his household, over the Jordan, and all David’s men with him?”

And, behold, all the men H376 of Israel H3478 came H935 (QalActPtc) to the king, H4428 and said H559 (QalImpf) unto the king, H4428 Why have our brethren H251 the men H376 of Judah H3063 stolen thee away, H1589 (QalPerf) and have brought H5674 (HiphImpf) the king, H4428 and his household, H1004 and all David’s H1732 men H582 with him, over Jordan? H3383

And, lo, all the men of Israel are coming unto the king, and they say unto the king, ‘Wherefore have they stolen thee-our brethren, the men of Judah?’ (and they bring the king and his household over the Jordan, and all the men of David with him).

David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in custody and provided them with sustenance, but didn’t go in to them. So they were shut up to the day of their death, living in widowhood.

And David H1732 came H935 (QalImpf) to his house H1004 at Jerusalem; H3389 and the king H4428 took H3947 (QalImpf) the ten H6235 women H802 [his] concubines, H6370 whom he had left H3240 (HiphPerf) to keep H8104 (QalInf) the house, H1004 and put H5414 (QalImpf) them in ward, H4931 and fed H3557 (PilpImpf) them, but went not in H935 (QalPerf) unto them. And David cometh in unto his house at Jerusalem, and the king taketh the ten women-concubines-whom he had left to keep the house, and putteth them in a house of ward, and sustaineth them, and unto them he hath not gone in, and they are shut up unto the day of their death, in widowhood living.

When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa came to meet them. Joab was clothed in his apparel of war that he had put on, and on it was a sash with a sword fastened on his waist in its sheath; and as he went along it fell out.

When they [were] at the great H1419 stone H68 which [is] in Gibeon, H1391 Amasa H6021 went H935 (QalPerf) before H6440 them. And Joab’s H3097 garment H4055 that he had put on H3830 was girded H2296 (QalPasPtc) unto him, and upon it a girdle H2289 [with] a sword H2719 fastened H6775 (PualPtc) upon his loins H4975 in the sheath H8593 thereof; and as he went forth H3318 (QalPerf) it fell out. they are near the great stone that is in Gibeon, and Amasa hath gone before them, and Joab is girded; his long robe he hath put on him, and upon it a girdle-a sword is fastened upon his loins in its sheath; and he hath gone out, and it falleth.

Amasa lay wallowing in his blood in the middle of the highway. When the man saw that all the people stood still, he carried Amasa out of the highway into the field, and cast a garment over him when he saw that everyone who came by him stood still.

And Amasa H6021 wallowed H1556 (HipoPtc) in blood H1818 in the midst H8432 of the highway. H4546 And when the man H376 saw H7200 (QalImpf) that all the people H5971 stood still, H5975 (QalPerf) he removed H5437 (HiphImpf) Amasa H6021 out of the highway H4546 into the field, H7704 and cast H7993 (HiphImpf) a cloth H899 upon him, when he saw H7200 (QalPerf) that every one that came H935 (QalActPtc) by him stood still. And Amasa is rolling himself in blood, in the midst of the highway, and the man seeth that all the people have stood still, and he bringeth round Amasa out of the highway to the field, and casteth over him a garment, when he hath seen that every one who hath come by him-hath stood still.

He went through all the tribes of Israel to Abel, to Beth Maacah, and all the Berites. They were gathered together, and went also after him.

And he went H5674 (QalImpf) through all the tribes H7626 of Israel H3478 unto Abel, H59 and to Bethmaachah, H1038 and all the Berites: H1276 and they were gathered together, H6950 (NiphImpf) (Qere) H7035 (NiphImpf) and went H935 (QalImpf) also after H310 him.

And he passeth over through all the tribes of Israel to Abel, and to Beth-Maachah, and to all the Berites, and they are assembled, and go in also after him,

They came and besieged him in Abel of Beth Maacah, and they cast up a mound against the city, and it stood against the rampart; and all the people who were with Joab battered the wall to throw it down.

And they came H935 (QalImpf) and besieged H6696 (QalImpf) him in Abel H59 of Bethmaachah, H1038 and they cast up H8210 (QalImpf) a bank H5550 against the city, H5892 and it stood H5975 (QalImpf) in the trench: H2426 and all the people H5971 that [were] with Joab H3097 battered H7843 (HiphPtc) the wall, H2346 to throw it down. and they go in and lay siege against him, in Abel of Beth-Maachah, and cast up a mount against the city, and it standeth in a trench, and all the people who are are with Joab are destroying, to cause the wall to fall.

Then the woman went to all the people in her wisdom. They cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and threw it out to Joab. He blew the trumpet, and they were dispersed from the city, every man to his tent. Then Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king.

Then the woman H802 went H935 (QalImpf) unto all the people H5971 in her wisdom. H2451 And they cut off H3772 (QalImpf) the head H7218 of Sheba H7652 the son H1121 of Bichri, H1075 and cast H7993 (HiphImpf) [it] out to Joab. And the woman cometh unto all the people in her wisdom, and they cut off the head of Sheba son of Bichri, and cast it unto Joab, and he bloweth with a trumpet, and they are scattered from the city, each to his tents, and Joab hath turned back to Jerusalem unto the king.

Three of the thirty chief men went down, and came to David in the harvest time to the cave of Adullam; and the troop of the Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

And three H7969 (Qere) H7970 of the thirty H7970 chief H7218 went down, H3381 (QalImpf) and came H935 (QalImpf) to David H1732 in the harvest time H7105 unto the cave H4631 of Adullam: H5725 and the troop H2416 of the Philistines H6430 pitched H2583 (QalActPtc) in the valley H6010 of Rephaim. And three of the thirty heads go down and come unto the harvest, unto David, unto the cave of Adullam, and the company of the Philistines are encamping in the valley of Rephaim,

The three mighty men broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate and took it and brought it to David; but he would not drink of it, but poured it out to Yahweh.

And the three H7969 mighty men H1368 brake through H1234 (QalImpf) the host H4264 of the Philistines, H6430 and drew H7579 (QalImpf) water H4325 out of the well H953 of Bethlehem, H1035 that [was] by the gate, H8179 and took H5375 (QalImpf) [it], and brought H935 (HiphImpf) [it] to David: H1732 nevertheless he would H14 (QalPerf) not drink H8354 (QalInf) thereof, but poured it out H5258 (HiphImpf) unto the Lord. And the three mighty ones cleave through the camp of the Philistines, and draw water out of the well of Beth-Lehem, which is by the gate, and take it up, and bring in unto David; and he was not willing to drink it, and poureth it out to Jehovah,

Wasn’t he most honorable of the three? Therefore he was made their captain. However he wasn’t included as one of the three.

Was he not most honourable H3513 (NiphPtc) of three? H7969 therefore he was their captain: H8269 howbeit he attained H935 (QalPerf) not unto the [first] three. H7969

Of the three is he not the honoured? and he becometh their head; and unto the first three he hath not come.

He was more honorable than the thirty, but he didn’t attain to the three. David set him over his guard.

He was more honourable H3513 (NiphPtc) than the thirty, H7970 but he attained H935 (QalPerf) not to the [first] three. H7969 And David H1732 set H7760 (QalImpf) him over his guard. H4928

Of the thirty he is honoured, and unto the three he came not; and David setteth him over his guard.
