So when they had gone back and forth through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.

And they go to and fro through all the land, and come in at the end of nine months and twenty days to Jerusalem,

So Gad came to David, and told him, saying, “Shall seven years of famine come to you in your land? Or will you flee three months before your foes while they pursue you? Or shall there be three days’ pestilence in your land? Now answer, and consider what answer I shall return to him who sent me.”

And Gad cometh in unto David, and declareth to him, and saith to him, ‘Do seven years of famine come in to thee in thy land? or three months art thou fleeing before thine adversary-and he pursuing thee? or are three days’ pestilence in thy land? now, know and see what word I take back to Him sending me.’

Gad came that day to David and said to him, “Go up, build an altar to Yahweh on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.”

And Gad cometh in unto David on that day, and saith to him, ‘Go up, raise to Jehovah an altar in the threshing-floor of Araunah the Jebusite;’

Araunah said, “Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” David said, “To buy your threshing floor, to build an altar to Yahweh, that the plague may be stopped from afflicting the people.”

And Araunah H728 said, H559 (QalImpf) Wherefore is my lord H113 the king H4428 come H935 (QalPerf) to his servant? And Araunah saith, ‘Wherefore hath my lord the king come unto his servant?’ and David saith, ‘To buy from thee the threshing-floor, to build an altar to Jehovah, and the plague is restrained from the people.’

Now King David was old and advanced in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he couldn’t keep warm.

And king David is old, entering into days, and they cover him with garments, and he hath no heat,

So they sought for a beautiful young lady throughout all the borders of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king.

Go in to King David, and tell him, ‘Didn’t you, my lord the king, swear to your servant, saying, “Assuredly Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne”? Why then does Adonijah reign?’

go and enter in unto king David, and thou hast said unto him, Hast thou not, my lord, O king, sworn to thy handmaid, saying, Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne? and wherefore hath Adonijah reigned?

Behold,^§ while you are still talking there with the king, I will also come in after you and confirm your words.”

Bathsheba went in to the king in his room. The king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite was serving the king.

And Bath-Sheba cometh in unto the king, to the inner chamber, and the king is very aged, and Abishag the Shunammite is serving the king:

Behold, while she was still talking with the king, Nathan the prophet came in.

And lo, she is yet speaking with the king, and Nathan the prophet hath come in;

They told the king, saying, “Behold, Nathan the prophet!” When he had come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.

Then come up after him, and he shall come and sit on my throne; for he shall be king in my place. I have appointed him to be prince over Israel and over Judah.”

While he yet spoke, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came; and Adonijah said, “Come in; for you are a worthy man, and bring good news.”

He is yet speaking, and lo, Jonathan son of Abiathar the priest hath come in, and Adonijah saith, ‘Come in, for a man of valour thou art, and thou bearest good tidings.’

Moreover the king’s servants came to bless our lord King David, saying, ‘May your God make the name of Solomon better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne;’ and the king bowed himself on the bed.

and also the servants of the king have come into bless our lord king David, saying, Thy God doth make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and his throne greater than thy throne; and the king boweth himself on the bed,

So King Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. He came and bowed down to King Solomon; and Solomon said to him, “Go to your house.”

And king Solomon sendeth, and they bring him down from off the altar, and he cometh in and boweth himself to king Solomon, and Solomon saith to him, ‘Go to thy house.’

Then Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. She said, “Do you come peaceably?” He said, “Peaceably.

and Adonijah son of Haggith cometh in unto Bath-Sheba, mother of Solomon, and she saith, ‘Is thy coming peace?’ and he saith, ‘Peace.’

Bathsheba therefore went to King Solomon, to speak to him for Adonijah. The king rose up to meet her and bowed himself to her, and sat down on his throne and caused a throne to be set for the king’s mother; and she sat on his right hand.

And Bath-Sheba cometh in unto king Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah, and the king riseth to meet her, and boweth himself to her, and sitteth on his throne, and placeth a throne for the mother of the king, and she sitteth at his right hand.

This news came to Joab; for Joab had followed Adonijah, although he didn’t follow Absalom. Joab fled to Yahweh’s Tent, and held onto the horns of the altar.

Then tidings H8052 came H935 (QalPerf) to Joab: H3097 for Joab H3097 had turned H5186 (QalPerf) after H310 Adonijah, H138 though he turned H5186 (QalPerf) not after H310 Absalom. And the report hath come unto Joab-for Joab hath turned aside after Adonijah, though after Absalom he did not turn aside-and Joab fleeth unto the tent of Jehovah, and layeth hold on the horns of the altar.

Benaiah came to Yahweh’s Tent, and said to him, “The king says, ‘Come out!’ ” He said, “No; but I will die here.” Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, “This is what Joab said, and this is how he answered me.”

And Benaiah H1141 came H935 (QalImpf) to the tabernacle H168 of the Lord, H3068 and said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the king, H4428 Come forth. H3318 (QalImpv) And he said, H559 (QalImpf) Nay; but I will die H4191 (QalImpf) here. And Benaiah cometh in unto the tent of Jehovah, and saith unto him, ‘Thus said the king, Come out;’ and he saith, ‘Nay, but here I die.’ And Benaiah bringeth back the king word, saying, ‘Thus spake Joab, yea, thus he answered me.’

Shimei arose, saddled his donkey, and went to Gath to Achish to seek his slaves; and Shimei went and brought his slaves from Gath.

And Shimei H8096 arose, H6965 (QalImpf) and saddled H2280 (QalImpf) his ass, H2543 and went H3212 (QalImpf) to Gath H1661 to Achish H397 to seek H1245 (PielInf) his servants: H5650 and Shimei H8096 went, H3212 (QalImpf) and brought H935 (HiphImpf) his servants H5650 from Gath. H1661

and Shimei riseth, and saddleth his ass, and goeth to Gath, unto Achish, to seek his servants, and Shimei goeth and bringeth his servants from Gath.

Solomon made a marriage alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt. He took Pharaoh’s daughter and brought her into David’s city until he had finished building his own house, Yahweh’s house, and the wall around Jerusalem.

And Solomon H8010 made affinity H2859 (HithImpf) with Pharaoh H6547 king H4428 of Egypt, H4714 and took H3947 (QalImpf) Pharaoh’s H6547 daughter, H1323 and brought H935 (HiphImpf) her into the city H5892 of David, H1732 until he had made an end H3615 (PielInf) of building H1129 (QalInf) his own house, H1004 and the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and the wall H2346 of Jerusalem H3389 round about. And Solomon joineth in marriage with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and taketh the daughter of Pharaoh, and bringeth her in unto the city of David, till he completeth to build his own house, and the house of Jehovah, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

Now, Yahweh my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father. I am just a little child. I don’t know how to go out or come in.

And now, O Lord H3068 my God, H430 thou hast made thy servant H5650 king H4427 (HiphPerf) instead of David H1732 my father: H1 and I [am but] a little H6996 child: H5288 I know H3045 (QalImpf) not [how] to go out H3318 (QalInf) or come in. H935 (QalInf)

And now, O Jehovah my God, Thou hast caused thy servant to reign instead of David my father; and I am a little child, I do not know to go out and to come in;

Solomon awoke; and behold, it was a dream. Then he came to Jerusalem and stood before the ark of Yahweh’s covenant, and offered up burnt offerings, offered peace offerings, and made a feast for all his servants.

And Solomon H8010 awoke; H3364 (QalImpf) and, behold, [it was] a dream. And Solomon awaketh, and lo, a dream; and he cometh in to Jerusalem, and standeth before the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and causeth to ascend burnt-offerings, and maketh peace-offerings. And he maketh a banquet for all his servants,

Then two women who were prostitutes came to the king, and stood before him.

Then came H935 (QalImpf) there two H8147 women, H802 [that were] harlots, H2181 (QalActPtc) unto the king, H4428 and stood H5975 (QalImpf) before H6440 him.

then come in do two women, harlots, unto the king, and stand before him,

The king said, “Get me a sword.” So they brought a sword before the king.

And the king H4428 said, H559 (QalImpf) Bring H3947 (QalImpv) me a sword. H2719 And they brought H935 (HiphImpf) a sword H2719 before H6440 the king. H4428

And the king saith, ‘Take for me a sword;’ and they bring the sword before the king,

They also brought barley and straw for the horses and swift steeds to the place where the officers were, each man according to his duty.

Barley H8184 also and straw H8401 for the horses H5483 and dromedaries H7409 brought H935 (HiphImpf) they unto the place H4725 where [the officers] were, every man H376 according to his charge. H4941

And the barley and the straw, for horses and for dromedaries, they bring in unto the place where they are, each according to his ordinance.

People of all nations came to hear the wisdom of Solomon, sent by all kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom.

And there came H935 (QalImpf) of all people H5971 to hear H8085 (QalInf) the wisdom H2451 of Solomon, H8010 from all kings H4428 of the earth, H776 which had heard H8085 (QalPerf) of his wisdom. H2451

and there come out of all the peoples to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth who have heard of his wisdom.

He was the son of a widow of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in bronze; and he was filled with wisdom and understanding and skill to work all works in bronze. He came to King Solomon and performed all his work.

He [was] a widow’s H802 H490 son H1121 of the tribe H4294 of Naphtali, H5321 and his father H1 [was] a man H376 of Tyre, H6876 a worker H2790 (QalActPtc) in brass: H5178 and he was filled H4390 (NiphImpf) with wisdom, H2451 and understanding, H8394 and cunning H1847 to work H6213 (QalInf) all works H4399 in brass. H5178 And he came H935 (QalImpf) to king H4428 Solomon, H8010 and wrought H6213 (QalImpf) all his work. H4399

he is son of a woman, a widow, of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father a man of Tyre, a worker in brass, and he is filled with the wisdom and the understanding, and the knowledge to do all work in brass-and he cometh unto king Solomon, and doth all his work.

Thus all the work that King Solomon did in Yahweh’s house was finished. Solomon brought in the things which David his father had dedicated—the silver, the gold, and the vessels—and put them in the treasuries of Yahweh’s house.

So was ended H7999 (QalImpf) all the work H4399 that king H4428 Solomon H8010 made H6213 (QalPerf) for the house H1004 of the Lord. H3068 And Solomon H8010 brought in H935 (HiphImpf) the things which David H1732 his father H1 had dedicated; H6944 [even] the silver, H3701 and the gold, H2091 and the vessels, H3627 did he put H5414 (QalPerf) among the treasures H214 of the house H1004 of the Lord. And it is complete-all the work that king Solomon hath made for the house of Jehovah, and Solomon bringeth in the sanctified things of David his father; the silver, and the gold, and the vessels he hath put in the treasuries of the house of Jehovah.

All the elders of Israel came, and the priests picked up the ark.

And all the elders H2205 of Israel H3478 came, H935 (QalImpf) and the priests H3548 took up H5375 (QalImpf) the ark. H727

And all the elders of Israel come in, and the priests lift up the ark,

The priests brought in the ark of Yahweh’s covenant to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the house, to the most holy place, even under the cherubim’s wings.

And the priests H3548 brought in H935 (HiphImpf) the ark H727 of the covenant H1285 of the Lord H3068 unto his place, H4725 into the oracle H1687 of the house, H1004 to the most H6944 holy H6944 [place, even] under the wings H3671 of the cherubims. H3742

And the priests bring in the ark of the covenant of Jehovah unto its place, unto the oracle of the house, unto the holy of holies, unto the place of the wings of the cherubs;

“If a man sins against his neighbor, and an oath is laid on him to cause him to swear, and he comes and swears before your altar in this house,

that which a man sinneth against his neighbour, and he hath lifted up upon him an oath to cause him to swear, and the oath hath come in before Thine altar in this house,

“Moreover, concerning the foreigner, who is not of your people Israel, when he comes out of a far country for your name’s sake

Moreover concerning a stranger, H5237 that [is] not of thy people H5971 Israel, H3478 but cometh out H935 (QalPerf) of a far H7350 country H776 for H4616 thy name’s H8034 sake;

‘And also, unto the stranger who is not of Thy people Israel, and hath come from a land afar off for Thy name’s sake-

(for they shall hear of your great name and of your mighty hand and of your outstretched arm), when he comes and prays toward this house,

(For they shall hear H8085 (QalImpf) of thy great H1419 name, H8034 and of thy strong H2389 hand, H3027 and of thy stretched out H5186 (QalPasPtc) arm; H2220) when he shall come H935 (QalPerf) and pray H6419 (HithPerf) toward this house; H1004

(for they hear of Thy great name, and of Thy strong hand, and of Thy stretched-out arm)-and he hath come in and prayed towards this house,

So Solomon held the feast at that time, and all Israel with him, a great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt, before Yahweh our God, seven days and seven more days, even fourteen days.

And Solomon maketh, at that time, the festival-and all Israel with him, a great assembly from the entering in of Hamath unto the brook of Egypt-before Jehovah our God, seven days and seven days; fourteen days.

and they will answer, ‘Because they abandoned Yahweh their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and embraced other gods, and worshiped them, and served them. Therefore Yahweh has brought all this evil on them.’ ”

And they shall answer, H559 (QalPerf) Because they forsook H5800 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 their God, H430 who brought forth H3318 (HiphPerf) their fathers H1 out of the land H776 of Egypt, H4714 and have taken hold H2388 (HiphImpf) upon other H312 gods, H430 and have worshipped H7812 (HithImpf) them, and served H5647 (QalImpf) them: therefore hath the Lord H3068 brought H935 (HiphPerf) upon them all this evil. and they have said, Because that they have forsaken Jehovah their God, who brought out their fathers from the land of Egypt, and they lay hold on other gods, and bow themselves to them, and serve them; therefore hath Jehovah brought in upon them all this evil.’

They came to Ophir, and fetched from there gold, four hundred and twenty talents,° and brought it to King Solomon.

and they come in to Ophir and take thence gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and bring it in unto king Solomon.

When the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning Yahweh’s name, she came to test him with hard questions.

And when the queen H4436 of Sheba H7614 heard H8085 (QalActPtc) of the fame H8088 of Solomon H8010 concerning the name H8034 of the Lord, H3068 she came H935 (QalImpf) to prove H5254 (PielInf) him with hard questions. H2420

And the queen of Sheba is hearing of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of Jehovah, and cometh to try him with enigmas,

She came to Jerusalem with a very great caravan, with camels that bore spices, very much gold, and precious stones; and when she had come to Solomon, she talked with him about all that was in her heart.

and she cometh to Jerusalem, with a very great company, camels bearing spices, and very much gold, and precious stone, and she cometh unto Solomon, and speaketh unto him all that hath been with her heart.

However, I didn’t believe the words until I came and my eyes had seen it. Behold, not even half was told me! Your wisdom and prosperity exceed the fame which I heard.

Howbeit I believed H539 (HiphPerf) not the words, H1697 until I came, H935 (QalPerf) and mine eyes H5869 had seen H7200 (QalImpf) [it]: and, behold, the half H2677 was not told H5046 (HophPerf) me: thy wisdom H2451 and prosperity H2896 exceedeth H3254 (HiphPerf) the fame H8052 which I heard. and I gave no credence to the words till that I have come, and my eyes see, and lo, it was not declared to me-the half; thou hast added wisdom and goodness unto the report that I heard.

She gave the king one hundred twenty talents of gold, and a very great quantity of spices, and precious stones. Never again was there such an abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

And she giveth to the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spices very many, and precious stone; there came not like that spice any more for abundance that the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.

The fleet of Hiram that brought gold from Ophir also brought in from Ophir great quantities of almug trees° and precious stones.

The king made of the almug trees pillars for Yahweh’s house and for the king’s house, harps also and stringed instruments for the singers; no such almug trees came or were seen to this day.

And the king H4428 made H6213 (QalImpf) of the almug H484 trees H6086 pillars H4552 for the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and for the king’s H4428 house, H1004 harps H3658 also and psalteries H5035 for singers: H7891 (QalActPtc) there came H935 (QalPerf) no such almug H484 trees, H6086 nor were seen H7200 (NiphPerf) unto this day. and the king maketh the almug-trees a support for the house of Jehovah, and for the house of the king, and harps and psalteries for singers; there have not come such almug-trees, nor have there been seen such unto this day.

Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred sixty-six talents° of gold,

And the weight of the gold that hath come to Solomon in one year is six hundred sixty and six talents of gold,

For the king had a fleet of ships of Tarshish at sea with Hiram’s fleet. Once every three years the fleet of Tarshish came bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.

for a navy of Tarshish hath the king at sea with a navy of Hiram; once in three years cometh the navy of Tarshish, bearing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.

Year after year, every man brought his tribute, vessels of silver, vessels of gold, clothing, armor, spices, horses, and mules.
