House of David, Yahweh says, ‘Execute justice in the morning, and deliver him who is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor, lest my wrath go out like fire, and burn so that no one can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

O house of David, thus said Jehovah: Decide ye judgment at morning, And deliver the plundered from the hand of the oppressor, Lest My fury go forth as fire, And hath burned, and none is quenching, Because of the evil of your doings.

Thus said Jehovah: Do ye judgment and righteousness, And deliver the plundered from the hand of the oppressor, And sojourner, orphan, and widow, ye do not oppress nor wrong, And innocent blood ye do not shed in this place.

“As I live,” says Yahweh, “though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet on my right hand, I would still pluck you from there.

I would give you into the hand of those who seek your life, and into the hand of them of whom you are afraid, even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.

And ye do not go after other gods to serve them, and to bow yourselves to them, nor do ye provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands, and I do no evil to you;

“Yet you have not listened to me,” says Yahweh, “that you may provoke me to anger with the work of your hands to your own hurt.”

And ye have not hearkened unto Me-an affirmation of Jehovah-so as to provoke Me to anger with the work of your hands for evil to you.

For many nations and great kings will make bondservants of them, even of them. I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the work of their hands.”

For many H7227 nations H1471 and great H1419 kings H4428 shall serve H5647 (QalPerf) themselves of them also: and I will recompense H7999 (PielPerf) them according to their deeds, H6467 and according to the works H4639 of their own hands. H3027

For laid service on them-also them-have many nations and great kings, and I have given recompence to them according to their doing, and according to the work of their hands.

For Yahweh, the God of Israel, says to me: “Take this cup of the wine of wrath from my hand, and cause all the nations to whom I send you to drink it.

Then I took the cup at Yahweh’s hand, and made all the nations to drink, to whom Yahweh had sent me:

But as for me, behold, I am in your hand. Do with me what is good and right in your eyes.

‘And I, lo, I am in your hand, do to me as is good and as is right in your eyes;

But the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, so that they didn’t give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.

‘And now, I-I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, My servant, and also the beast of the field I have given to him to serve him;

“ ‘ “ ‘It will happen that I will punish the nation and the kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon,’ says Yahweh, ‘with the sword, with famine, and with pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.

And it shall come to pass, [that] the nation H1471 and kingdom H4467 which will not serve H5647 (QalImpf) the same Nebuchadnezzar H5019 the king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and that will not put H5414 (QalImpf) their neck H6677 under the yoke H5923 of the king H4428 of Babylon, H894 that nation H1471 will I punish, H6485 (QalImpf) saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord, H3068 with the sword, H2719 and with the famine, H7458 and with the pestilence, H1698 until I have consumed H8552 (QalInf) them by his hand. And it hath come to pass, the nation and the kingdom that do not serve him-Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon-and that which putteth not its neck into the yoke of the king of Babylon, with sword, and with famine, and with pestilence, I lay a charge on that nation-an affirmation of Jehovah-till I consume them by his hand.

by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon). It said:

Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, concerning Ahab son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah son of Maaseiah, who are prophesying to you in My name falsehood: Lo, I am giving them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he hath smitten them before your eyes,

Ask now, and see whether a man travails with child. Why do I see every man with his hands on his waist, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned pale?

Ask, I pray you, and see, is a male bringing forth? Wherefore have I seen every man, His hands on his loins, as a travailing woman, And all faces have been turned to paleness?

For Yahweh has ransomed Jacob, and redeemed him from the hand of him who was stronger than he.

For Jehovah hath ransomed Jacob, And redeemed him from a hand stronger than he.

For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, “Why do you prophesy, and say, ‘Yahweh says, “Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will take it;

and Zedekiah king of Judah won’t escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but will surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and will speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes will see his eyes;

And Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 of Judah H3063 shall not escape H4422 (NiphImpf) out of the hand H3027 of the Chaldeans, H3778 but shall surely H5414 (NiphInf) be delivered H5414 (NiphImpf) into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and shall speak H1696 (PielPerf) with him mouth H6310 to mouth, H6310 and his eyes H5869 shall behold H7200 (QalImpf) his eyes; H5869

And Zedekiah king of Judah doth not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but is certainly given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and his mouth hath spoken with his mouth, and his eyes see his eyes,

and brought your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, with wonders, with a strong hand, with an outstretched arm, and with great terror;

‘And Thou bringest forth Thy people Israel from the land of Egypt, with signs and with wonders, and by a strong hand, and by a stretched-out arm, and by great fear,

“Behold, siege ramps have been built against the city to take it. The city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fight against it, because of the sword, of the famine, and of the pestilence. What you have spoken has happened. Behold, you see it.

‘Lo, the mounts-they have come in to the city to capture it, and the city hath been given into the hand of the Chaldeans who are fighting against it, because of the sword, and the famine, and the pestilence; and that which Thou hast spoken hath come to pass, and lo, Thou art seeing;

You have said to me, Lord Yahweh, ‘Buy the field for money, and call witnesses;’ whereas the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.”

Yet Thou hast said unto me, O Lord Jehovah, Buy for thee the field with money, and cause witnesses to testify-and the city hath been given into the hand of the Chaldeans!’

Therefore Yahweh says: Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will take it.

Therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Behold, I will give H5414 (QalActPtc) this city H5892 into the hand H3027 of the Chaldeans, H3778 and into the hand H3027 of Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon, H894 and he shall take H3920 (QalPerf) it:

‘Therefore, thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am giving this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he hath captured it;

“For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have done only that which was evil in my sight from their youth; for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, says Yahweh.

Now therefore Yahweh, the God of Israel, says concerning this city, about which you say, “It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:”

And now therefore thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 the God H430 of Israel, H3478 concerning this city, H5892 whereof ye say, H559 (QalActPtc) It shall be delivered H5414 (NiphPerf) into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Babylon H894 by the sword, H2719 and by the famine, H7458 and by the pestilence; H1698

‘And now, therefore, thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, concerning this city, of which ye are saying, It hath been given into the hand of the king of Babylon by sword, and by famine, and by pestilence,

Fields will be bought in this land, about which you say, ‘It is desolate, without man or animal. It is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.’

In the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, in the cities of the South, in the land of Benjamin, in the places around Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, the flocks will again pass under the hands of him who counts them,” says Yahweh.

In the cities of the hill-country, In the cities of the low country, And in the cities of the south, And in the land of Benjamin, And in the suburbs of Jerusalem, And in the cities of Judah, Again doth the flock pass by under the hands of the numberer, said Jehovah.

The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, with all his army, all the kingdoms of the earth that were under his dominion, and all the peoples, were fighting against Jerusalem and against all its cities, saying:

The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah-and Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his force, and all kingdoms of the land of the dominion of his hand, and all the peoples are fighting against Jerusalem, and against all its cities-saying:

“Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, ‘Go, and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Yahweh says, “Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon and he will burn it with fire.

You won’t escape out of his hand, but will surely be taken and delivered into his hand. Your eyes will see the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he will speak with you mouth to mouth. You will go to Babylon.” ’

and thou, thou dost not escape out of his hand, for thou art certainly caught, and into his hand thou art given, and thine eyes see the eyes of the king of Babylon, and his mouth with thy mouth speaketh, and Babylon thou enterest.

I will even give them into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their life. Their dead bodies will be food for the birds of the sky and for the animals of the earth.

I will even give H5414 (QalPerf) them into the hand H3027 of their enemies, H341 (QalActPtc) and into the hand H3027 of them that seek H1245 (PielPtc) their life: H5315 and their dead bodies H5038 shall be for meat H3978 unto the fowls H5775 of the heaven, H8064 and to the beasts H929 of the earth. H776

yea, I have given them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those seeking their soul, and their carcase hath been for food to the fowl of the heavens, and to the beast of the earth.

“I will give Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes into the hands of their enemies, into the hands of those who seek their life and into the hands of the king of Babylon’s army, who has gone away from you.

And Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 of Judah H3063 and his princes H8269 will I give H5414 (QalImpf) into the hand H3027 of their enemies, H341 (QalActPtc) and into the hand H3027 of them that seek H1245 (PielPtc) their life, H5315 and into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Babylon’s H894 army, H2428 which are gone up H5927 (QalActPtc) from you.

‘And Zedekiah king of Judah, and his heads, I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those seeking their soul, and into the hand of the forces of the king of Babylon, that are going up from off you.

Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, “Take in your hand the scroll in which you have read in the ears of the people, and come.” So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand, and came to them.

Therefore all the princes H8269 sent H7971 (QalImpf) Jehudi H3065 the son H1121 of Nethaniah, H5418 the son H1121 of Shelemiah, H8018 the son H1121 of Cushi, H3570 unto Baruch, H1263 saying, H559 (QalInf) Take H3947 (QalImpv) in thine hand H3027 the roll H4039 wherein thou hast read H7121 (QalPerf) in the ears H241 of the people, H5971 and come. H3212 (QalImpv) So Baruch H1263 the son H1121 of Neriah H5374 took H3947 (QalImpf) the roll H4039 in his hand, H3027 and came H935 (QalImpf) unto them.

and all the heads send unto Baruch, Jehudi son of Nethaniah, son of Shelemiah, son of Cushi, saying, ‘The roll in which thou hast read in the ears of the people take in thy hand, and come.’ And Baruch son of Neriah taketh the roll in his hand and cometh in unto them,

But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, listened to Yahweh’s words, which he spoke by the prophet Jeremiah.

But neither he, nor his servants, H5650 nor the people H5971 of the land, H776 did hearken H8085 (QalPerf) unto the words H1697 of the Lord, H3068 which he spake H1696 (PielPerf) by H3027 the prophet H5030 Jeremiah. H3414

and he hath not hearkened, he, and his servants, and the people of the land, unto the words of Jehovah, that He spake by the hand of Jeremiah the prophet.

then Zedekiah the king sent and had him brought out. The king asked him secretly in his house, “Is there any word from Yahweh?” Jeremiah said, “There is.” He also said, “You will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.”

Then Zedekiah H6667 the king H4428 sent, H7971 (QalImpf) and took him out: H3947 (QalImpf) and the king H4428 asked H7592 (QalImpf) him secretly H5643 in his house, H1004 and said, H559 (QalImpf) Is there [any] word H1697 from the Lord? H3068 And Jeremiah H3414 said, H559 (QalImpf) There is: H3426 for, said H559 (QalImpf) he, thou shalt be delivered H5414 (NiphImpf) into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Babylon. H894

and the king Zedekiah sendeth, and taketh him, and the king asketh him in his house in secret, and saith, ‘Is there a word from Jehovah?’ And Jeremiah saith, ‘There is,’ and he saith, ‘Into the hand of the king of Babylon thou art given.’

Yahweh says, ‘This city will surely be given into the hand of the army of the king of Babylon, and he will take it.’ ”

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 This city H5892 shall surely H5414 (NiphInf) be given H5414 (NiphImpf) into the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Babylon’s H894 army, H2428 which shall take H3920 (QalPerf) it.

Thus said Jehovah: This city is certainly given into the hand of the force of the king of Babylon, and he hath captured it.’

Then the princes said to the king, “Please let this man be put to death, because he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them; for this man doesn’t seek the welfare of this people, but harm.”

Therefore the princes H8269 said H559 (QalImpf) unto the king, H4428 We beseech thee, let this man H376 be put to death: H4191 (HophImpf) for thus H3651 he weakeneth H7503 (PielPtc) the hands H3027 of the men H582 of war H4421 that remain H7604 (NiphPtc) in this city, H5892 and the hands H3027 of all the people, H5971 in speaking H1696 (PielInf) such words H1697 unto them: for this man H376 seeketh H1875 (QalActPtc) not the welfare H7965 of this people, H5971 but the hurt. H7451

And the heads say unto the king, ‘Let, we pray thee, this man be put to death, because that he is making feeble the hands of the men of war, who are left in this city, and the hands of all the people, by speaking unto them according to these words, for this man is not seeking for the peace of this people, but for its evil.’

Zedekiah the king said, “Behold, he is in your hand; for the king can’t do anything to oppose you.”

Then Zedekiah H6667 the king H4428 said, H559 (QalImpf) Behold, he [is] in your hand: H3027 for the king H4428 [is] not [he that] can H3201 (QalImpf) do [any] thing H1697 against you.

And the king Zedekiah saith, ‘Lo, he is in your hand: for the king is not able for you in anything.’

Then the king commanded Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, “Take from here thirty men with you, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he dies.”

Then the king H4428 commanded H6680 (PielImpf) Ebedmelech H5663 the Ethiopian, H3569 saying, H559 (QalInf) Take H3947 (QalImpv) from hence thirty H7970 men H582 with thee, H3027 and take up H5927 (HiphPerf) Jeremiah H3414 the prophet H5030 out of the dungeon, H953 before he die. H4191 (QalImpf)

And the king commandeth Ebed-Melech the Cushite, saying, ‘Take with thee from this thirty men, and thou hast brought up Jeremiah the prophet from the pit, before he dieth.’

So Ebedmelech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took from there rags and worn-out garments, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah.

So Ebedmelech H5663 took H3947 (QalImpf) the men H582 with him, H3027 and went H935 (QalImpf) into the house H1004 of the king H4428 under the treasury, H214 and took H3947 (QalImpf) thence old H1094 cast clouts H5499 and old H1094 rotten rags, H4418 and let them down H7971 (PielImpf) by cords H2256 into the dungeon H953 to Jeremiah. H3414

And Ebed-Melech taketh the men with him, and entereth the house of the king, unto the place of the treasury, and taketh thence worn-out clouts, and worn-out rags, and sendeth them unto Jeremiah unto the pit by cords.

Ebedmelech the Ethiopian said to Jeremiah, “Now put these rags and worn-out garments under your armpits under the cords.” Jeremiah did so.

And Ebedmelech H5663 the Ethiopian H3569 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Jeremiah, H3414 Put H7760 (QalImpv) now [these] old H1094 cast clouts H5499 and rotten rags H4418 under thine armholes H679 H3027 under the cords. H2256 And Jeremiah H3414 did H6213 (QalImpf) so.

And Ebed-Melech the Cushite saith unto Jeremiah, ‘Put, I pray thee, the worn-out clouts and rags under thine arm-holes, at the place of the cords,’ and Jeremiah doth so,

So Zedekiah the king swore secretly to Jeremiah, saying, “As Yahweh lives, who made our souls, I will not put you to death, neither will I give you into the hand of these men who seek your life.”

So Zedekiah H6667 the king H4428 sware H7650 (NiphImpf) secretly H5643 unto Jeremiah, H3414 saying, H559 (QalInf) [As] the Lord H3068 liveth, H2416 that made H6213 (QalPerf) us this soul, H5315 I will not put thee to death, H4191 (HiphImpf) neither will I give H5414 (QalImpf) thee into the hand H3027 of these men H582 that seek H1245 (PielPtc) thy life. H5315

And the king Zedekiah sweareth unto Jeremiah in secret, saying, ‘Jehovah liveth, He who made for us this soul, I do not put thee to death, nor give thee unto the hand of these men who are seeking thy soul.’

But if you will not go out to the king of Babylon’s princes, then this city will be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they will burn it with fire, and you won’t escape out of their hand.’ ”

But if thou wilt not go forth H3318 (QalImpf) to the king H4428 of Babylon’s H894 princes, H8269 then shall this city H5892 be given H5414 (NiphPerf) into the hand H3027 of the Chaldeans, H3778 and they shall burn H8313 (QalPerf) it with fire, H784 and thou shalt not escape out H4422 (NiphImpf) of their hand. H3027

And if thou dost not go forth unto the heads of the king of Babylon, then hath this city been given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they have burnt it with fire, and thou dost not escape from their hand.’

Zedekiah the king said to Jeremiah, “I am afraid of the Jews who have defected to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they mock me.”

And Zedekiah H6667 the king H4428 said H559 (QalImpf) unto Jeremiah, H3414 I am afraid H1672 (QalActPtc) of the Jews H3064 that are fallen H5307 (QalPerf) to the Chaldeans, H3778 lest they deliver H5414 (QalImpf) me into their hand, H3027 and they mock H5953 (HithPerf) me.

And the king Zedekiah saith unto Jeremiah, ‘I am fearing the Jews who have fallen unto the Chaldeans, lest they give me into their hand, and they have insulted me.’

They will bring out all your wives and your children to the Chaldeans. You won’t escape out of their hand, but will be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon. You will cause this city to be burned with fire.’ ”

So they shall bring out H3318 (HiphPtc) all thy wives H802 and thy children H1121 to the Chaldeans: H3778 and thou shalt not escape out H4422 (NiphImpf) of their hand, H3027 but shalt be taken H8610 (NiphImpf) by the hand H3027 of the king H4428 of Babylon: H894 and thou shalt cause this city H5892 to be burned H8313 (QalImpf) with fire. H784

‘And all thy wives, and thy sons, are brought forth unto the Chaldeans, and thou dost not escape from their hand, for by the hand of the king of Babylon thou art caught, and this city is burnt with fire.’
