In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, Yahweh’s^§ word came to the prophet Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, saying,

Zechariah 1:1 “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “Lord” (all caps) in other translations.

τη τετραδι και εικαδι τω ενδεκατω μηνι ουτος εστιν ο μην σαβατ εν τω δευτερω ετει επι δαρειου εγενετο λογος κυριου προς ζαχαριαν τον του βαραχιου υιον αδδω τον προφητην λεγων

Then he said, “These are the two anointed ones who stand by the Lord^§ of the whole earth.”

Zechariah 4:14 The word translated “Lord” is “Adonai.”

The crowns shall be to Helem, to Tobijah, to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in Yahweh’s temple.

And the crowns H5850 shall be to Helem, H2494 and to Tobijah, H2900 and to Jedaiah, H3048 and to Hen H2581 the son H1121 of Zephaniah, H6846 for a memorial H2146 in the temple H1964 of the Lord. H3068

χαιρε σφοδρα θυγατερ σιων κηρυσσε θυγατερ ιερουσαλημ ιδου ο βασιλευς σου ερχεται σοι δικαιος και σωζων αυτος πραυς και επιβεβηκως επι υποζυγιον και πωλον νεον

For indeed I bend Judah as a bow for me. I have loaded the bow with Ephraim. I will stir up your sons, Zion, against your sons, Greece, and will make you like the sword of a mighty man.

Ephraim will be like a mighty man, and their heart will rejoice as through wine. Yes, their children will see it and rejoice. Their heart will be glad in Yahweh.

και εσονται ως μαχηται του εφραιμ και χαρησεται η καρδια αυτων ως εν οινω και τα τεκνα αυτων οψονται και ευφρανθησονται και χαρειται η καρδια αυτων επι τω κυριω

I will sow them among the peoples. They will remember me in far countries. They will live with their children and will return.

και σπερω αυτους εν λαοις και οι μακραν μνησθησονται μου εκθρεψουσιν τα τεκνα αυτων και επιστρεψουσιν

“A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, then where is my honor? And if I am a master, where is the respect due me?” says Yahweh of Armies to you priests who despise my name. “You say, ‘How have we despised your name?’

and he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi, and refine them as gold and silver; and they shall offer to Yahweh offerings in righteousness.

και καθιειται χωνευων και καθαριζων ως το αργυριον και ως το χρυσιον και καθαρισει τους υιους λευι και χεει αυτους ως το χρυσιον και ως το αργυριον και εσονται τω κυριω προσαγοντες θυσιαν εν δικαιοσυνη

“For I, Yahweh, don’t change; therefore you, sons of Jacob, are not consumed.

For I am the Lord, H3068 I change H8138 (QalPerf) not; therefore ye sons H1121 of Jacob H3290 are not consumed. H3615 (QalPerf)

διοτι εγω κυριος ο θεος υμων και ουκ ηλλοιωμαι και υμεις υιοι ιακωβ ουκ απεχεσθε

They shall be mine,” says Yahweh of Armies, “my own possession in the day that I make. I will spare them, as a man spares his own son who serves him.

And they shall be mine, saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H3068 of hosts, H6635 in that day H3117 when I make up H6213 (QalActPtc) my jewels;^§ H5459 and I will spare H2550 (QalPerf) them, as a man H376 spareth H2550 (QalImpf) his own son H1121 that serveth H5647 (QalActPtc) him.

Malachi 3:17 Or, special treasure

και εσονται μοι λεγει κυριος παντοκρατωρ εις ημεραν ην εγω ποιω εις περιποιησιν και αιρετιω αυτους ον τροπον αιρετιζει ανθρωπος τον υιον αυτου τον δουλευοντα αυτω

He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”
