apart from the heads of the officers of Solomon, who are over the work, three thousand and three hundred, those ruling over the people who are working in the business.

He built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar; from the floor of the house to the walls of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood. He covered the floor of the house with cypress boards.

And he built H1129 (QalImpf) the walls H7023 of the house H1004 within H1004 with boards H6763 of cedar, H730 both the floor H7172 of the house, H1004 and the walls H7023 of the cieling: H5604 [and] he covered H6823 (PielPerf) [them] on the inside H1004 with wood, H6086 and covered H6823 (PielImpf) the floor H7172 of the house H1004 with planks H6763 of fir. and he buildeth the walls of the house within with beams of cedar, from the floor of the house unto the walls of the ceiling; he hath overlaid with wood the inside, and covereth the floor of the house with ribs of fir.

He built twenty cubits of the back part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the ceiling. He built this within, for an inner sanctuary, even for the most holy place.

And he built H1129 (QalImpf) twenty H6242 cubits H520 on the sides H3411 of the house, H1004 both H4480 the floor H7172 and the walls H7023 with boards H6763 of cedar: H730 he even built H1129 (QalImpf) [them] for it within, H1004 [even] for the oracle, H1687 [even] for the most H6944 holy H6944 [place].

And he buildeth the twenty cubits on the sides of the house with ribs of cedar, from the floor unto the walls; and he buildeth for it within, for the oracle, for the holy of holies.

So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold. He drew chains of gold across before the inner sanctuary, and he overlaid it with gold.

So Solomon H8010 overlaid H6823 (PielImpf) the house H1004 within H6441 with pure H5462 (QalPasPtc) gold: H2091 and he made a partition H5674 (PielImpf) by the chains H7572 (Qere) H7572 of gold H2091 before H6440 the oracle; H1687 and he overlaid H6823 (PielImpf) it with gold. H2091

And Solomon overlayeth the house within with gold refined, and causeth it to pass over in chains of gold before the oracle, and overlayeth it with gold.

His house where he was to dwell, the other court within the porch, was of the same construction. He made also a house for Pharaoh’s daughter (whom Solomon had taken as wife), like this porch.

And his house H1004 where he dwelt H3427 (QalImpf) [had] another H312 court H2691 within H1004 the porch, H197 [which] was of the like work. H4639 Solomon H8010 made H6213 (QalImpf) also an house H1004 for Pharaoh’s H6547 daughter, H1323 whom he had taken H3947 (QalPerf) [to wife], like unto this porch. H197

As to his house where he dwelleth, the other court is within the porch-as this work it hath been; and a house he maketh for the daughter of Pharaoh-whom Solomon hath taken-like this porch.

All these were of costly stones, even of stone cut according to measure, sawed with saws, inside and outside, even from the foundation to the coping, and so on the outside to the great court.

All these [were of] costly H3368 stones, H68 according to the measures H4060 of hewed stones, H1496 sawed H1641 (PoalPtc) with saws, H4050 within H1004 and without, H2351 even from the foundation H4527 unto the coping, H2947 and [so] on the outside H2351 toward the great H1419 court. H2691

All these are of precious stone, according to the measures of hewn work, sawn with a saw, within and without, even from the foundation unto the coping, and at the outside, unto the great court.

Above were costly stones, even cut stone, according to measure, and cedar wood.

And above H4605 [were] costly H3368 stones, H68 after the measures H4060 of hewed stones, H1496 and cedars. H730

and above are precious stone, according to the measures of hewn work, and cedar;

There were capitals above also on the two pillars, close by the belly which was beside the network. There were two hundred pomegranates in rows around the other capital.

And the chapiters H3805 upon the two H8147 pillars H5982 [had pomegranates] also above, H4605 over against H5980 the belly H990 which [was] by H5676 the network: H7639 and the pomegranates H7416 [were] two hundred H3967 in rows H2905 round about H5439 upon the other H8145 chapiter. H3805

and the chapiters on the two pillars also above, over-against the protuberance that is beside the net; and the pomegranates are two hundred, in rows round about on the second chapiter.

and on the panels that were between the ledges were lions, oxen, and cherubim; and on the ledges there was a pedestal above; and beneath the lions and oxen were wreaths of hanging work.

And on the borders H4526 that [were] between the ledges H7948 [were] lions, H738 oxen, H1241 and cherubims: H3742 and upon the ledges H7948 [there was] a base H3653 above: H4605 and beneath the lions H738 and oxen H1241 [were] certain additions H3914 made of thin H4174 work. H4639

and on the borders that are between the joinings are lions, oxen, and cherubs, and on the joinings a base above, and beneath the lions and the oxen are additions-sloping work.

Every base had four bronze wheels and axles of bronze; and its four feet had supports. The supports were cast beneath the basin, with wreaths at the side of each.

And every H259 base H4350 had four H702 brasen H5178 wheels, H212 and plates H5633 of brass: H5178 and the four H702 corners H6471 thereof had undersetters: H3802 under the laver H3595 [were] undersetters H3802 molten, H3332 (QalPasPtc) at the side H5676 of every H376 addition. H3914

And four wheels of brass are to the one base, and axles of brass; and its four corners have shoulders-under the laver are the molten shoulders, beside each addition.

Its opening within the capital and above was a cubit. Its opening was round like the work of a pedestal, a cubit and a half; and also on its opening were engravings, and their panels were square, not round.

And the mouth H6310 of it within H1004 the chapiter H3805 and above H4605 [was] a cubit: H520 but the mouth H6310 thereof [was] round H5696 [after] the work H4639 of the base, H3653 a cubit H520 and an half: H2677 and also upon the mouth H6310 of it [were] gravings H4734 with their borders, H4526 foursquare, H7251 (PualPtc) not round. And its mouth within the chapiter and above is by the cubit, and its mouth is round, the work of the base, a cubit and half a cubit; and also on its mouth are carvings and their borders, square, not round.

In the top of the base there was a round band half a cubit high; and on the top of the base its supports and its panels were the same.

And in the top H7218 of the base H4350 [was there] a round H5696 compass H5439 of half H2677 a cubit H520 high: H6967 and on the top H7218 of the base H4350 the ledges H3027 thereof and the borders H4526 thereof [were] of the same.

And in the top of the base is the half of a cubit in the height all round about; and on the top of the base its spokes and its borders are of the same.

He set the bases, five on the right side of the house and five on the left side of the house. He set the sea on the right side of the house eastward and toward the south.

And he put H5414 (QalImpf) five H2568 bases H4350 on the right H3225 side H3802 of the house, H1004 and five H2568 on the left H8040 side H3802 of the house: H1004 and he set H5414 (QalPerf) the sea H3220 on the right H3233 side H3802 of the house H1004 eastward H6924 over against H4136 the south. and he putteth the five bases on the right side of the house, and five on the left side of the house, and the sea he hath put on the right side of the house, eastward-over-against the south.

Solomon left all the vessels unweighed, because there were so many of them. The weight of the bronze could not be determined.

And Solomon H8010 left H3240 (HiphImpf) all the vessels H3627 [unweighed], because they were exceeding H3966 H3966 many: H7230 neither was the weight H4948 of the brass H5178 found out. H2713 (NiphPerf)

And Solomon placeth the whole of the vessels; because of the very great abundance, the weight of the brass hath not been searched out.

For the cherubim spread their wings out over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and its poles above.

For the cherubims H3742 spread forth H6566 (QalActPtc) [their] two wings H3671 over the place H4725 of the ark, H727 and the cherubims H3742 covered H5526 (QalImpf) the ark H727 and the staves H905 thereof above. H4605

for the cherubs are spreading forth two wings unto the place of the ark, and the cherubs cover over the ark, and over its staves from above;

so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud; for Yahweh’s glory filled Yahweh’s house.

So that the priests H3548 could H3201 (QalPerf) not stand H5975 (QalInf) to minister H8334 (PielInf) because H6440 of the cloud: H6051 for the glory H3519 of the Lord H3068 had filled H4390 (QalPerf) the house H1004 of the Lord. H3068

and the priests have not been able to stand to minister because of the cloud, for the honour of Jehovah hath filled the house of Jehovah.

‘Since the day that I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house, that my name might be there; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.’

Since the day H3117 that I brought forth H3318 (HiphPerf) my people H5971 Israel H3478 out of Egypt, H4714 I chose H977 (QalPerf) no city H5892 out of all the tribes H7626 of Israel H3478 to build H1129 (QalInf) an house, H1004 that my name H8034 might be therein; but I chose H977 (QalImpf) David H1732 to be over my people H5971 Israel. From the day that I brought out My people, even Israel, from Egypt, I have not fixed on a city out of all the tribes of Israel, to build a house for My name being there; and I fix on David to be over My people Israel.

and he said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven above, or on earth beneath; who keeps covenant and loving kindness with your servants who walk before you with all their heart;

and saith, ‘Jehovah, God of Israel, there is not a God like Thee, in the heavens above, and on the earth beneath, keeping the covenant and the kindness for Thy servants, those walking before Thee with all their heart,

The same day the king made the middle of the court holy that was before Yahweh’s house; for there he offered the burnt offering, the meal offering, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar that was before Yahweh was too little to receive the burnt offering, the meal offering, and the fat of the peace offerings.

On that day hath the king sanctified the middle of the court that is before the house of Jehovah, for he hath made there the burnt-offering, and the present, and the fat of the peace-offerings; for the altar of brass that is before Jehovah is too little to contain the burnt-offering, and the present, and the fat of the peace-offerings.

King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatever she asked, in addition to that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own land, she and her servants.

And king H4428 Solomon H8010 gave H5414 (QalPerf) unto the queen H4436 of Sheba H7614 all her desire, H2656 whatsoever she asked, H7592 (QalPerf) beside [that] which Solomon H8010 gave H5414 (QalPerf) her of his royal H4428 bounty. And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire that she asked, apart from that which he gave to her as a memorial of king Solomon, and she turneth and goeth to her land, she and her servants.

in addition to that which the traders brought, and the traffic of the merchants, and of all the kings of the mixed people, and of the governors of the country.

Beside [that he had] of the merchantmen, H582 H8446 (QalActPtc) and of the traffick H4536 of the spice merchants, H7402 (QalActPtc) and of all the kings H4428 of Arabia, H6153 and of the governors H6346 of the country. H776

apart from that of the tourists, and of the traffic of the merchants, and of all the kings of Arabia, and of the governors of the land.

So King Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom.

And king Solomon is greater than any of the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom,

The young men who had grown up with him said to him, “Tell these people who spoke to you, saying, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but make it lighter to us’— tell them, ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist.

And they speak unto him-the lads who had grown up with him-saying, ‘Thus dost thou say to this people who have spoken unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, and thou, make it light upon us; thus dost thou speak unto them, My little finger is thicker than the loins of my father;

So the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold; and he said to them, “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Look and behold your gods, Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt!”

And the king taketh counsel, and maketh two calves of gold, and saith unto them, ‘Enough to you of going up to Jerusalem; lo, thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.’

Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose and went to Shiloh, and came to Ahijah’s house. Now Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

And the wife of Jeroboam doth so, and riseth, and goeth to Shiloh, and entereth the house of Ahijah, and Ahijah is not able to see, for his eyes have stood because of his age.

but have done evil above all who were before you, and have gone and made for yourself other gods, molten images, to provoke me to anger, and have cast me behind your back,

and thou dost evil above all who have been before thee, and goest, and makest to thee other gods and molten images to provoke Me to anger, and Me thou hast cast behind thy back:

For Yahweh will strike Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River,° because they have made their Asherah poles, provoking Yahweh to anger.

And Jehovah hath smitten Israel as the reed is moved by the waters, and hath plucked Israel from off this good ground that He gave to their fathers, and scattered them beyond the River, because that they made their shrines, provoking Jehovah to anger;

Judah did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, above all that their fathers had done.

And Judah doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and they make Him zealous above all that their fathers did by their sins that they have sinned.

There were also sodomites in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations which Yahweh drove out before the children of Israel.

And there were also sodomites H6945 in the land: H776 [and] they did H6213 (QalPerf) according to all the abominations H8441 of the nations H1471 which the Lord H3068 cast out H3423 (HiphPerf) before H6440 the children H1121 of Israel. H3478

and also a whoremonger hath been in the land; they have done according to all the abominations of the nations that Jehovah dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel.

Omri did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and dealt wickedly above all who were before him.

But Omri H6018 wrought H6213 (QalImpf) evil H7451 in the eyes H5869 of the Lord, H3068 and did worse H7489 (HiphImpf) than all that [were] before H6440 him.

And Omri doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and doth evil above all who are before him,

Ahab the son of Omri did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight above all that were before him.

And Ahab H256 the son H1121 of Omri H6018 did H6213 (QalImpf) evil H7451 in the sight H5869 of the Lord H3068 above all that [were] before H6440 him.

and Ahab son of Omri doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah above all who are before him.

Ahab made the Asherah; and Ahab did more yet to provoke Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him.

And Ahab H256 made H6213 (QalImpf) a grove; H842 and Ahab H256 did H6213 (QalInf) more H3254 (HiphImpf) to provoke the Lord H3068 God H430 of Israel H3478 to anger H3707 (HiphInf) than all the kings H4428 of Israel H3478 that were before H6440 him.

and Ahab maketh the shrine, and Ahab addeth to do so as to provoke Jehovah, God of Israel, above all the kings of Israel who have been before him.

After a while, the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.

And it came to pass after H7093 a while, H3117 that the brook H5158 dried up, H3001 (QalImpf) because there had been no rain H1653 in the land. H776

And it cometh to pass, at the end of days, that the brook drieth up, for there hath been no rain in the land,

Ahab said to Obadiah, “Go through the land, to all the springs of water, and to all the brooks. Perhaps we may find grass and save the horses and mules alive, that we not lose all the animals.”

and Ahab saith unto Obadiah, ‘Go through the land, unto all fountains of waters, and unto all the brooks, if so be we find hay, and keep alive horse and mule, and do not cut off any of the cattle.’

It will happen, as soon as I leave you, that Yahweh’s Spirit will carry you I don’t know where; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he can’t find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared Yahweh from my youth.

and it hath been, I go from thee, and the Spirit of Jehovah doth lift thee up, whither I know not, and I have come to declare to Ahab, and he doth not find thee, and he hath slain me; and thy servant is fearing Jehovah from my youth.

But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree. Then he requested for himself that he might die, and said, “It is enough. Now, O Yahweh, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.”

and he himself hath gone into the wilderness a day’s Journey, and cometh and sitteth under a certain retem-tree, and desireth his soul to die, and saith, ‘Enough, now, O Jehovah, take my soul, for I am not better than my fathers.’

Yahweh’s angel came again the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.”

The servants of the king of Syria said to him, “Their god is a god of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we. But let’s fight against them in the plain, and surely we will be stronger than they.

Muster an army like the army that you have lost, horse for horse and chariot for chariot. We will fight against them in the plain, and surely we will be stronger than they are.” He listened to their voice and did so.

and thou, number to thee a force as the force that is fallen from thee, and horse for horse, and chariot for chariot, and we fight with them in the plain; are we not stronger than they?’ and he hearkeneth to their voice, and doth so.

Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying, “Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near my house; and I will give you for it a better vineyard than it. Or, if it seems good to you, I will give you its worth in money.”

The two men, the wicked fellows, came in and sat before him. The wicked fellows testified against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, “Naboth cursed God and the king!” Then they carried him out of the city and stoned him to death with stones.

and two men-sons of worthlessness-come in, and sit over-against him, and the men of worthlessness testify of him, even Naboth, before the people, saying, ‘Naboth blessed God and Melech;’ and they take him out to the outside of the city, and stone him with stones, and he dieth;

He did very abominably in following idols, according to all that the Amorites did, whom Yahweh cast out before the children of Israel.

and he doth very abominably to go after the idols, according to all that the Amorite did whom Jehovah dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel.’

“See how Ahab humbles himself before me? Because he humbles himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days; but I will bring the evil on his house in his son’s day.”

‘Hast thou seen that Ahab hath been humbled before Me? because that he hath been humbled before Me, I bring not in the evil in his days; in the days of his son I bring in the evil on his house.’

But Yahweh’s^§ angel said to Elijah the Tishbite, “Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and tell them, ‘Is it because there is no God^§ in Israel that you go to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron?

And a messenger of Jehovah hath spoken unto Elijah the Tishbite, ‘Rise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and speak unto them, Is it because there is not a God in Israel-ye are going to inquire of Baal Zebub god of Ekron?

They said to him, “A man came up to meet us, and said to us, ‘Go, return to the king who sent you, and tell him, “Yahweh says, ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel that you send to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you will not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but you will surely die.’ ” ’ ”

And they say unto him, ‘A man hath come up to meet us, and saith unto us, Go, turn back unto the king who sent you, and ye have said unto him, Thus said Jehovah, Is it because there is not a God in Israel-thou art sending to inquire of Baal-Zebub god of Ekron? therefore, the bed whither thou hast gone up, thou dost not come down from it, for thou dost certainly die.’

He said to him, “Yahweh says, ‘Because you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? Therefore you will not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but you will surely die.’ ”

and speaketh unto him, ‘Thus said Jehovah, Because that thou hast sent messengers to inquire of Baal-Zebub god of Ekron-is it because there is not a God in Israel to inquire of His word? therefore, the bed whither thou hast gone up-thou dost not come down from it, for thou dost certainly die.’

Fifty men of the sons of the prophets went and stood opposite them at a distance; and they both stood by the Jordan.

-and fifty men of the sons of the prophets have gone on, and stand over-against afar off-and both of them have stood by the Jordan.

When the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho facing him saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

And they see him-the sons of the prophets who are in Jericho-over-against, and they say, ‘Rested hath the spirit of Elijah on Elisha;’ and they come to meet him, and bow themselves to him to the earth,

They rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone on the water, and the Moabites saw the water opposite them as red as blood.

When they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and struck the Moabites, so that they fled before them; and they went forward into the land attacking the Moabites.

And they come in unto the camp of Israel, and the Israelites rise, and smite the Moabites, and they flee from their face; and they enter into Moab, so as to smite Moab,
