Solomon offered for the sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered to Yahweh, twenty two thousand head of cattle and one hundred twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated Yahweh’s house.

και εθυσεν ο βασιλευς σαλωμων τας θυσιας των ειρηνικων ας εθυσεν τω κυριω βοων δυο και εικοσι χιλιαδας και προβατων εκατον εικοσι χιλιαδας και ενεκαινισεν τον οικον κυριου ο βασιλευς και παντες οι υιοι ισραηλ

The same day the king made the middle of the court holy that was before Yahweh’s house; for there he offered the burnt offering, the meal offering, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the bronze altar that was before Yahweh was too little to receive the burnt offering, the meal offering, and the fat of the peace offerings.

τη ημερα εκεινη ηγιασεν ο βασιλευς το μεσον της αυλης το κατα προσωπον του οικου κυριου οτι εποιησεν εκει την ολοκαυτωσιν και τας θυσιας και τα στεατα των ειρηνικων οτι το θυσιαστηριον το χαλκουν το ενωπιον κυριου μικρον του μη δυνασθαι την ολοκαυτωσιν και τας θυσιας των ειρηνικων υπενεγκειν

When Solomon had finished the building of Yahweh’s house, the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he was pleased to do,

και εγενηθη ως συνετελεσεν σαλωμων οικοδομειν τον οικον κυριου και τον οικον του βασιλεως και πασαν την πραγματειαν σαλωμων οσα ηθελησεν ποιησαι

Yahweh said to him, “I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you have made before me. I have made this house holy, which you have built, to put my name there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.

And the Lord H3068 said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, I have heard H8085 (QalPerf) thy prayer H8605 and thy supplication, H8467 that thou hast made H2603 (HithPerf) before H6440 me: I have hallowed H6942 (HiphPerf) this house, H1004 which thou hast built, H1129 (QalPerf) to put H7760 (QalInf) my name H8034 there for H5704 ever; H5769 and mine eyes H5869 and mine heart H3820 shall be there perpetually. και ειπεν προς αυτον κυριος ηκουσα της φωνης της προσευχης σου και της δεησεως σου ης εδεηθης ενωπιον εμου πεποιηκα σοι κατα πασαν την προσευχην σου ηγιακα τον οικον τουτον ον ωκοδομησας του θεσθαι το ονομα μου εκει εις τον αιωνα και εσονται οι οφθαλμοι μου εκει και η καρδια μου πασας τας ημερας

then I will cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and I will cast this house, which I have made holy for my name, out of my sight; and Israel will be a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

Then will I cut off H3772 (HiphPerf) Israel H3478 out H6440 of the land H127 which I have given H5414 (QalPerf) them; and this house, H1004 which I have hallowed H6942 (HiphPerf) for my name, H8034 will I cast out H7971 (PielImpf) of my sight; H6440 and Israel H3478 shall be a proverb H4912 and a byword H8148 among all people: H5971

και εξαρω τον ισραηλ απο της γης ης εδωκα αυτοις και τον οικον τουτον ον ηγιασα τω ονοματι μου απορριψω εκ προσωπου μου και εσται ισραηλ εις αφανισμον και εις λαλημα εις παντας τους λαους

Though this house is so high, yet everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss; and they will say, ‘Why has Yahweh done this to this land and to this house?’

And at this house, H1004 [which] is high, H5945 every one that passeth H5674 (QalActPtc) by it shall be astonished, H8074 (QalImpf) and shall hiss; H8319 (QalPerf) and they shall say, H559 (QalPerf) Why hath the Lord H3068 done H6213 (QalPerf) thus unto this land, H776 and to this house? H1004

και ο οικος ουτος ο υψηλος πας ο διαπορευομενος δι αυτου εκστησεται και συριει και ερουσιν ενεκα τινος εποιησεν κυριος ουτως τη γη ταυτη και τω οικω τουτω

At the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the two houses, Yahweh’s house and the king’s house

And it came to pass at the end H7097 of twenty H6242 years, H8141 when Solomon H8010 had built H1129 (QalPerf) the two H8147 houses, H1004 the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and the king’s H4428 house, H1004

εικοσι ετη εν οις ωκοδομησεν σαλωμων τους δυο οικους τον οικον κυριου και τον οικον του βασιλεως

This is the reason of the forced labor which King Solomon conscripted: to build Yahweh’s house, his own house, Millo, Jerusalem’s wall, Hazor, Megiddo, and Gezer.

But Pharaoh’s daughter came up out of David’s city to her house which Solomon had built for her. Then he built Millo.

Solomon offered burnt offerings and peace offerings on the altar which he built to Yahweh three times per year, burning incense with them on the altar that was before Yahweh. So he finished the house.

And three H7969 times H6471 in a year H8141 did Solomon H8010 offer H5927 (HiphPerf) burnt offerings H5930 and peace offerings H8002 upon the altar H4196 which he built H1129 (QalPerf) unto the Lord, H3068 and he burnt incense H6999 (HiphInf) upon the altar H4196 that [was] before H6440 the Lord. When the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built,

And when the queen H4436 of Sheba H7614 had seen H7200 (QalImpf) all Solomon’s H8010 wisdom, H2451 and the house H1004 that he had built, H1129 (QalPerf)

και ειδεν βασιλισσα σαβα πασαν φρονησιν σαλωμων και τον οικον ον ωκοδομησεν

the food of his table, the sitting of his servants, the attendance of his officials, their clothing, his cup bearers, and his ascent by which he went up to Yahweh’s house, there was no more spirit in her.

και τα βρωματα σαλωμων και την καθεδραν παιδων αυτου και την στασιν λειτουργων αυτου και τον ιματισμον αυτου και τους οινοχοους αυτου και την ολοκαυτωσιν αυτου ην ανεφερεν εν οικω κυριου και εξ εαυτης εγενετο

The king made of the almug trees pillars for Yahweh’s house and for the king’s house, harps also and stringed instruments for the singers; no such almug trees came or were seen to this day.

And the king H4428 made H6213 (QalImpf) of the almug H484 trees H6086 pillars H4552 for the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and for the king’s H4428 house, H1004 harps H3658 also and psalteries H5035 for singers: H7891 (QalActPtc) there came H935 (QalPerf) no such almug H484 trees, H6086 nor were seen H7200 (NiphPerf) unto this day. και εποιησεν ο βασιλευς τα ξυλα τα απελεκητα υποστηριγματα του οικου κυριου και του οικου του βασιλεως και ναβλας και κινυρας τοις ωδοις ουκ εληλυθει τοιαυτα ξυλα απελεκητα επι της γης ουδε ωφθησαν που εως της ημερας ταυτης

He made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three minas° of gold went to one shield; and the king put them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon.

All King Solomon’s drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the House of the Forest of Lebanon were of pure gold. None were of silver, because it was considered of little value in the days of Solomon.

και παντα τα σκευη του ποτου σαλωμων χρυσα και λουτηρες χρυσοι παντα τα σκευη οικου δρυμου του λιβανου χρυσιω συγκεκλεισμενα ουκ ην αργυριον οτι ουκ ην λογιζομενον εν ταις ημεραις σαλωμων

The man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valor; and Solomon saw the young man that he was industrious, and he put him in charge of all the labor of the house of Joseph.

και ο ανθρωπος ιεροβοαμ ισχυρος δυναμει και ειδεν σαλωμων το παιδαριον οτι ανηρ εργων εστιν και κατεστησεν αυτον επι τας αρσεις οικου ιωσηφ

It shall be, if you will listen to all that I command you, and will walk in my ways, and do that which is right in my eyes, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did, that I will be with you, and will build you a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel to you.

και εσται εαν φυλαξης παντα οσα αν εντειλωμαι σοι και πορευθης εν ταις οδοις μου και ποιησης το ευθες ενωπιον εμου του φυλαξασθαι τας εντολας μου και τα προσταγματα μου καθως εποιησεν δαυιδ ο δουλος μου και εσομαι μετα σου και οικοδομησω σοι οικον πιστον καθως ωκοδομησα τω δαυιδ

When all Israel saw that the king didn’t listen to them, the people answered the king, saying, “What portion have we in David? We don’t have an inheritance in the son of Jesse. To your tents, Israel! Now see to your own house, David.” So Israel departed to their tents.

και ειδον πας ισραηλ οτι ουκ ηκουσεν ο βασιλευς αυτων και απεκριθη ο λαος τω βασιλει λεγων τις ημιν μερις εν δαυιδ και ουκ εστιν ημιν κληρονομια εν υιω ιεσσαι αποτρεχε ισραηλ εις τα σκηνωματα σου νυν βοσκε τον οικον σου δαυιδ και απηλθεν ισραηλ εις τα σκηνωματα αυτου

So Israel rebelled against David’s house to this day.

So Israel H3478 rebelled H6586 (QalImpf) against the house H1004 of David H1732 unto this day. H3117

και ηθετησεν ισραηλ εις τον οικον δαυιδ εως της ημερας ταυτης

When all Israel heard that Jeroboam had returned, they sent and called him to the congregation, and made him king over all Israel. There was no one who followed David’s house, except for the tribe of Judah only.

And it came to pass, when all Israel H3478 heard H8085 (QalInf) that Jeroboam H3379 was come again, H7725 (QalPerf) that they sent H7971 (QalImpf) and called H7121 (QalImpf) him unto the congregation, H5712 and made him king H4427 (HiphImpf) over all Israel: H3478 there was none that followed H310 the house H1004 of David, H1732 but H2108 the tribe H7626 of Judah H3063 only.

και εγενετο ως ηκουσεν πας ισραηλ οτι ανεκαμψεν ιεροβοαμ εξ αιγυπτου και απεστειλαν και εκαλεσαν αυτον εις την συναγωγην και εβασιλευσαν αυτον επι ισραηλ και ουκ ην οπισω οικου δαυιδ παρεξ σκηπτρου ιουδα και βενιαμιν μονοι

When Rehoboam had come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin, a hundred and eighty thousand chosen men who were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.

και ροβοαμ εισηλθεν εις ιερουσαλημ και εξεκκλησιασεν την συναγωγην ιουδα και σκηπτρον βενιαμιν εκατον και εικοσι χιλιαδες νεανιων ποιουντων πολεμον του πολεμειν προς οικον ισραηλ επιστρεψαι την βασιλειαν ροβοαμ υιω σαλωμων

“Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, saying,

Speak H559 (QalImpv) unto Rehoboam, H7346 the son H1121 of Solomon, H8010 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 and unto all the house H1004 of Judah H3063 and Benjamin, H1144 and to the remnant H3499 of the people, H5971 saying, H559 (QalInf)

ειπον τω ροβοαμ υιω σαλωμων βασιλει ιουδα και προς παντα οικον ιουδα και βενιαμιν και τω καταλοιπω του λαου λεγων

‘Yahweh says, “You shall not go up or fight against your brothers, the children of Israel. Everyone return to his house; for this thing is from me.” ’ ” So they listened to Yahweh’s word, and returned and went their way, according to Yahweh’s word.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord, H3068 Ye shall not go up, H5927 (QalImpf) nor fight H3898 (NiphImpf) against your brethren H251 the children H1121 of Israel: H3478 return H7725 (QalImpv) every man H376 to his house; H1004 for this thing H1697 is H1961 (NiphPerf) from me. They hearkened H8085 (QalImpf) therefore to the word H1697 of the Lord, H3068 and returned H7725 (QalImpf) to depart, H3212 (QalInf) according to the word H1697 of the Lord. H3068

ταδε λεγει κυριος ουκ αναβησεσθε ουδε πολεμησετε μετα των αδελφων υμων υιων ισραηλ αναστρεφετω εκαστος εις τον οικον εαυτου οτι παρ εμου γεγονεν το ρημα τουτο και ηκουσαν του λογου κυριου και κατεπαυσαν του πορευθηναι κατα το ρημα κυριου

Jeroboam said in his heart, “Now the kingdom will return to David’s house.

And Jeroboam H3379 said H559 (QalImpf) in his heart, H3820 Now shall the kingdom H4467 return H7725 (QalImpf) to the house H1004 of David: H1732

και ειπεν ιεροβοαμ εν τη καρδια αυτου ιδου νυν επιστρεψει η βασιλεια εις οικον δαυιδ

If this people goes up to offer sacrifices in Yahweh’s house at Jerusalem, then the heart of this people will turn again to their lord, even to Rehoboam king of Judah; and they will kill me, and return to Rehoboam king of Judah.”

If this people H5971 go up H5927 (QalImpf) to do H6213 (QalInf) sacrifice H2077 in the house H1004 of the Lord H3068 at Jerusalem, H3389 then shall the heart H3820 of this people H5971 turn again H7725 (QalPerf) unto their lord, H113 [even] unto Rehoboam H7346 king H4428 of Judah, H3063 and they shall kill H2026 (QalPerf) me, and go again H7725 (QalPerf) to Rehoboam H7346 king H4428 of Judah. H3063

εαν αναβη ο λαος ουτος αναφερειν θυσιας εν οικω κυριου εις ιερουσαλημ και επιστραφησεται καρδια του λαου προς κυριον και κυριον αυτων προς ροβοαμ βασιλεα ιουδα και αποκτενουσιν με

He made houses of high places, and made priests from among all the people, who were not of the sons of Levi.

And he made H6213 (QalImpf) an house H1004 of high places, H1116 and made H6213 (QalImpf) priests H3548 of the lowest H7098 of the people, H5971 which were not of the sons H1121 of Levi. H3878

και εποιησεν οικους εφ υψηλων και εποιησεν ιερεις μερος τι εκ του λαου οι ουκ ησαν εκ των υιων λευι

He cried against the altar by Yahweh’s word, and said, “Altar! Altar! Yahweh says: ‘Behold, a son will be born to David’s house, Josiah by name. On you he will sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and they will burn men’s bones on you.’ ”

And he cried H7121 (QalImpf) against the altar H4196 in the word H1697 of the Lord, H3068 and said, H559 (QalImpf) O altar, H4196 altar, H4196 thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord; H3068 Behold, a child H1121 shall be born H3205 (NiphPtc) unto the house H1004 of David, H1732 Josiah H2977 by name; H8034 and upon thee shall he offer H2076 (QalPerf) the priests H3548 of the high places H1116 that burn incense H6999 (HiphPtc) upon thee, and men’s H120 bones H6106 shall be burnt H8313 (QalImpf) upon thee.

και επεκαλεσεν προς το θυσιαστηριον εν λογω κυριου και ειπεν θυσιαστηριον θυσιαστηριον ταδε λεγει κυριος ιδου υιος τικτεται τω οικω δαυιδ ιωσιας ονομα αυτω και θυσει επι σε τους ιερεις των υψηλων τους επιθυοντας επι σε και οστα ανθρωπων καυσει επι σε

The king said to the man of God, “Come home with me and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward.”

And the king H4428 said H1696 (PielImpf) unto the man H376 of God, H430 Come H935 (QalImpv) home H1004 with me, and refresh H5582 (QalImpv) thyself, and I will give H5414 (QalImpf) thee a reward. H4991

και ελαλησεν ο βασιλευς προς τον ανθρωπον του θεου εισελθε μετ εμου εις οικον και αριστησον και δωσω σοι δομα

The man of God said to the king, “Even if you gave me half of your house, I would not go in with you, neither would I eat bread nor drink water in this place;

And the man H376 of God H430 said H559 (QalImpf) unto the king, H4428 If thou wilt give H5414 (QalImpf) me half H2677 thine house, H1004 I will not go in H935 (QalImpf) with thee, neither will I eat H398 (QalImpf) bread H3899 nor drink H8354 (QalImpf) water H4325 in this place: H4725

Then he said to him, “Come home with me and eat bread.”

και ειπεν αυτω δευρο μετ εμου και φαγε αρτον

He said to him, “I also am a prophet as you are; and an angel spoke to me by Yahweh’s word, saying, ‘Bring him back with you into your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.’ ” He lied to him.

He said H559 (QalImpf) unto him, I [am] a prophet H5030 also as thou [art]; and an angel H4397 spake H1696 (PielPerf) unto me by the word H1697 of the Lord, H3068 saying, H559 (QalInf) Bring him back H7725 (HiphImpv) with thee into thine house, H1004 that he may eat H398 (QalImpf) bread H3899 and drink H8354 (QalImpf) water. και ειπεν προς αυτον καγω προφητης ειμι καθως συ και αγγελος λελαληκεν προς με εν ρηματι κυριου λεγων επιστρεψον αυτον προς σεαυτον εις τον οικον σου και φαγετω αρτον και πιετω υδωρ και εψευσατο αυτω

So he went back with him, ate bread in his house, and drank water.

και επεστρεψεν αυτον και εφαγεν αρτον και επιεν υδωρ εν τω οικω αυτου

For the saying which he cried by Yahweh’s word against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, will surely happen.”

For the saying H1697 which he cried H7121 (QalPerf) by the word H1697 of the Lord H3068 against the altar H4196 in Bethel, H1008 and against all the houses H1004 of the high places H1116 which [are] in the cities H5892 of Samaria, H8111 shall surely come to pass.

οτι γινομενον εσται το ρημα ο ελαλησεν εν λογω κυριου επι του θυσιαστηριου του εν βαιθηλ και επι τους οικους τους υψηλους τους εν σαμαρεια

This thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off and to destroy it from off the surface of the earth.

And this thing H1697 became sin H2403 unto the house H1004 of Jeroboam, H3379 even to cut [it] off, H3582 (HiphInf) and to destroy H8045 (HiphInf) [it] from off the face H6440 of the earth. H127

Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose and went to Shiloh, and came to Ahijah’s house. Now Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

and tore the kingdom away from David’s house, and gave it you; and yet you have not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in my eyes,

therefore, behold, I will bring evil on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam everyone who urinates on a wall,^§ he who is shut up and he who is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweeps away dung until it is all gone.

All Israel will mourn for him and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam will come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward Yahweh, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

And all Israel H3478 shall mourn H5594 (QalPerf) for him, and bury H6912 (QalPerf) him: for he only of Jeroboam H3379 shall come H935 (QalImpf) to the grave, H6913 because in him there is found H4672 (NiphPerf) [some] good H2896 thing H1697 toward the Lord H3068 God H430 of Israel H3478 in the house H1004 of Jeroboam. Moreover Yahweh will raise up a king for himself over Israel who will cut off the house of Jeroboam. This is the day! What? Even now.

Moreover the Lord H3068 shall raise him up H6965 (HiphPerf) a king H4428 over Israel, H3478 who shall cut off H3772 (HiphImpf) the house H1004 of Jeroboam H3379 that day: H3117 but what? even now.

Jeroboam’s wife arose and departed, and came to Tirzah. As she came to the threshold of the house, the child died.

And Jeroboam’s H3379 wife H802 arose, H6965 (QalImpf) and departed, H3212 (QalImpf) and came H935 (QalImpf) to Tirzah: H8656 [and] when she came H935 (QalActPtc) to the threshold H5592 of the door, H1004 the child H5288 died; H4191 (QalPerf)

and he took away the treasures of Yahweh’s house and the treasures of the king’s house. He even took away all of it, including all the gold shields which Solomon had made.

And he took away H3947 (QalImpf) the treasures H214 of the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 and the treasures H214 of the king’s H4428 house; H1004 he even took away H3947 (QalPerf) all: and he took away H3947 (QalImpf) all the shields H4043 of gold H2091 which Solomon H8010 had made. και ελαβεν παντας τους θησαυρους οικου κυριου και τους θησαυρους οικου του βασιλεως και τα δορατα τα χρυσα α ελαβεν δαυιδ εκ χειρος των παιδων αδρααζαρ βασιλεως σουβα και εισηνεγκεν αυτα εις ιερουσαλημ τα παντα ελαβεν οπλα τα χρυσα

King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house.

It was so, that as often as the king went into Yahweh’s house, the guard bore them, and brought them back into the guard room.

And it was [so], when H1767 the king H4428 went H935 (QalInf) into the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 that the guard H7323 (QalPtc) bare H5375 (QalImpf) them, and brought them back H7725 (HiphPerf) into the guard H7323 (QalPtc) chamber. H8372

και εγενετο οτε εισεπορευετο ο βασιλευς εις οικον κυριου και ηρον αυτα οι παρατρεχοντες και απηρειδοντο αυτα εις το θεε των παρατρεχοντων

He brought into Yahweh’s house the things that his father had dedicated, and the things that he himself had dedicated: silver, gold, and utensils.

And he brought H935 (HiphImpf) in the things H6944 which his father H1 had dedicated, H6944 and the things which himself had dedicated, H6944 into the house H1004 of the Lord, H3068 silver, H3701 and gold, H2091 and vessels. H3627

Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha struck him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel were besieging Gibbethon.

As soon as he was king, he struck all the house of Jeroboam. He didn’t leave to Jeroboam any who breathed, until he had destroyed him, according to the saying of Yahweh, which he spoke by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite;
