He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the righteous, both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh.

Differing weights and differing measures, both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh.

σταθμιον μεγα και μικρον και μετρα δισσα ακαθαρτα ενωπιον κυριου και αμφοτερα

Yahweh detests differing weights, and dishonest scales are not pleasing.

βδελυγμα κυριω δισσον σταθμιον και ζυγος δολιος ου καλον ενωπιον αυτου

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination— how much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind!

The schemes of folly are sin. The mocker is detested by men.

When his speech is charming, don’t believe him, for there are seven abominations in his heart.

He who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

A dishonest man detests the righteous, and the upright in their ways detest the wicked.

Bring no more vain offerings. Incense is an abomination to me. New moons, Sabbaths, and convocations— I can’t stand evil assemblies.

Behold, you are nothing, and your work is nothing. He who chooses you is an abomination.

και ουκ ελογισατο τη καρδια αυτου ουδε ανελογισατο εν τη ψυχη αυτου ουδε εγνω τη φρονησει οτι το ημισυ αυτου κατεκαυσεν εν πυρι και επεψεν επι των ανθρακων αυτου αρτους και οπτησας κρεας εφαγεν και το λοιπον αυτου εις βδελυγμα εποιησεν και προσκυνουσιν αυτω

I brought you into a plentiful land to eat its fruit and its goodness; but when you entered, you defiled my land, and made my heritage an abomination.

και εισηγαγον υμας εις τον καρμηλον του φαγειν υμας τους καρπους αυτου και τα αγαθα αυτου και εισηλθατε και εμιανατε την γην μου και την κληρονομιαν μου εθεσθε εις βδελυγμα

Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush. Therefore they will fall among those who fall. When I visit them, they will be cast down,” says Yahweh.

και ηλθετε και εστητε ενωπιον εμου εν τω οικω ου επικεκληται το ονομα μου επ αυτω και ειπατε απεσχημεθα του μη ποιειν παντα τα βδελυγματα ταυτα

Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed. They couldn’t blush. Therefore they will fall among those who fall. In the time of their visitation they will be cast down, says Yahweh.

First I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double, because they have polluted my land with the carcasses of their detestable things, and have filled my inheritance with their abominations.”

και ανταποδωσω διπλας τας αδικιας αυτων και τας αμαρτιας αυτων εφ αις εβεβηλωσαν την γην μου εν τοις θνησιμαιοις των βδελυγματων αυτων και εν ταις ανομιαις αυτων εν αις επλημμελησαν την κληρονομιαν μου

They built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through fire to Molech, which I didn’t command them. It didn’t even come into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.”

^[39:35] και ωκοδομησαν τους βωμους τη βααλ τους εν φαραγγι υιου εννομ του αναφερειν τους υιους αυτων και τας θυγατερας αυτων τω μολοχ βασιλει α ου συνεταξα αυτοις και ουκ ανεβη επι καρδιαν μου του ποιησαι το βδελυγμα τουτο προς το εφαμαρτειν τον ιουδαν

However I sent to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, “Oh, don’t do this abominable thing that I hate.”

^[51:4] και απεστειλα προς υμας τους παιδας μου τους προφητας ορθρου και απεστειλα λεγων μη ποιησητε το πραγμα της μολυνσεως ταυτης ης εμισησα

Thus Yahweh could no longer bear it, because of the evil of your doings and because of the abominations which you have committed. Therefore your land has become a desolation, an astonishment, and a curse, without inhabitant, as it is today.

^[51:22] και ουκ ηδυνατο κυριος ετι φερειν απο προσωπου πονηριας πραγματων υμων απο των βδελυγματων ων εποιησατε και εγενηθη η γη υμων εις ερημωσιν και εις αβατον και εις αραν ως εν τη ημερα ταυτη

I will do in you that which I have not done, and which I will not do anything like it any more, because of all your abominations.

και ποιησω εν σοι α ου πεποιηκα και α ου ποιησω ομοια αυτοις ετι κατα παντα τα βδελυγματα σου

Therefore as I live,’ says the Lord Yahweh, ‘surely, because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your detestable things, and with all your abominations, therefore I will also diminish you. My eye won’t spare, and I will have no pity.

Wherefore, [as] I live, H2416 saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord H136 God; H3069 Surely, because thou hast defiled H2930 (PielPerf) my sanctuary H4720 with all thy detestable things, H8251 and with all thine abominations, H8441 therefore will I also diminish H1639 (QalImpf) [thee]; neither shall mine eye H5869 spare, H2347 (QalImpf) neither will I have any pity. δια τουτο ζω εγω λεγει κυριος ει μη ανθ ων τα αγια μου εμιανας εν πασιν τοις βδελυγμασιν σου καγω απωσομαι σε ου φεισεται μου ο οφθαλμος καγω ουκ ελεησω

Those of you that escape will remember me among the nations where they are carried captive, how I have been broken with their lewd heart, which has departed from me, and with their eyes, which play the prostitute after their idols. Then they will loathe themselves in their own sight for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.

και μνησθησονται μου οι ανασωζομενοι εξ υμων εν τοις εθνεσιν ου ηχμαλωτευθησαν εκει ομωμοκα τη καρδια αυτων τη εκπορνευουση απ εμου και τοις οφθαλμοις αυτων τοις πορνευουσιν οπισω των επιτηδευματων αυτων και κοψονται προσωπα αυτων εν πασι τοις βδελυγμασιν αυτων

“The Lord Yahweh says: ‘Strike with your hand, and stamp with your foot, and say, “Alas!”, because of all the evil abominations of the house of Israel; for they will fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 Smite H5221 (HiphImpv) with thine hand, H3709 and stamp H7554 (QalImpv) with thy foot, H7272 and say, H559 (QalImpv) Alas H253 for all the evil H7451 abominations H8441 of the house H1004 of Israel! H3478 for they shall fall H5307 (QalImpf) by the sword, H2719 by the famine, H7458 and by the pestilence. H1698

ταδε λεγει κυριος κροτησον τη χειρι και ψοφησον τω ποδι και ειπον ευγε ευγε επι πασιν τοις βδελυγμασιν οικου ισραηλ εν ρομφαια και εν θανατω και εν λιμω πεσουνται

Now the end is on you, and I will send my anger on you, and will judge you according to your ways. I will bring on you all your abominations.

Now [is] the end H7093 [come] upon thee, and I will send H7971 (PielPerf) mine anger H639 upon thee, and will judge H8199 (QalPerf) thee according to thy ways, H1870 and will recompense H5414 (QalPerf) upon thee all thine abominations. H8441

^[7:7] νυν το περας προς σε και αποστελω εγω επι σε και εκδικησω σε εν ταις οδοις σου και δωσω επι σε παντα τα βδελυγματα σου

My eye will not spare you, neither will I have pity; but I will bring your ways on you, and your abominations will be among you. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.’

And mine eye H5869 shall not spare H2347 (QalImpf) thee, neither will I have pity: H2550 (QalImpf) but I will recompense H5414 (QalImpf) thy ways H1870 upon thee, and thine abominations H8441 shall be in the midst H8432 of thee: and ye shall know H3045 (QalPerf) that I [am] the Lord. H3068

^[7:8] ου φεισεται ο οφθαλμος μου επι σε ουδε μη ελεησω διοτι την οδον σου επι σε δωσω και τα βδελυγματα σου εν μεσω σου εσται και επιγνωση διοτι εγω κυριος

Now I will shortly pour out my wrath on you, and accomplish my anger against you, and will judge you according to your ways. I will bring on you all your abominations.

Now will I shortly H7138 pour out H8210 (QalImpf) my fury H2534 upon thee, and accomplish H3615 (PielPerf) mine anger H639 upon thee: and I will judge H8199 (QalPerf) thee according to thy ways, H1870 and will recompense H5414 (QalPerf) thee for all thine abominations. H8441

^[7:5] νυν εγγυθεν εκχεω την οργην μου επι σε και συντελεσω τον θυμον μου εν σοι και κρινω σε εν ταις οδοις σου και δωσω επι σε παντα τα βδελυγματα σου

My eye won’t spare, neither will I have pity. I will punish you according to your ways. Your abominations will be among you. Then you will know that I, Yahweh, strike.

And mine eye H5869 shall not spare, H2347 (QalImpf) neither will I have pity: H2550 (QalImpf) I will recompense H5414 (QalImpf) thee according to thy ways H1870 and thine abominations H8441 [that] are in the midst H8432 of thee; and ye shall know H3045 (QalPerf) that I [am] the Lord H3068 that smiteth. ^[7:6] ου φεισεται ο οφθαλμος μου ουδε μη ελεησω διοτι τας οδους σου επι σε δωσω και τα βδελυγματα σου εν μεσω σου εσονται και επιγνωση διοτι εγω ειμι κυριος ο τυπτων

As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty; but they made the images of their abominations and their detestable things therein. Therefore I have made it to them as an unclean thing.

εκλεκτα κοσμου εις υπερηφανιαν εθεντο αυτα και εικονας των βδελυγματων αυτων εποιησαν εξ αυτων ενεκεν τουτου δεδωκα αυτα αυτοις εις ακαθαρσιαν

He said to me, “Son of man, do you see what they do? Even the great abominations that the house of Israel commit here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? But you will again see yet other great abominations.”

He said H559 (QalImpf) furthermore unto me, Son H1121 of man, H120 seest H7200 (QalActPtc) thou what they do? H6213 (QalActPtc) [even] the great H1419 abominations H8441 that the house H1004 of Israel H3478 committeth H6213 (QalActPtc) here, that I should go far off H7368 (QalInf) from my sanctuary? H4720 but turn H7725 (QalImpf) thee yet again, [and] thou shalt see H7200 (QalImpf) greater H1419 abominations. H8441

και ειπεν προς με υιε ανθρωπου εωρακας τι ουτοι ποιουσιν ανομιας μεγαλας ποιουσιν ωδε του απεχεσθαι απο των αγιων μου και ετι οψει ανομιας μειζονας

He said to me, “Go in, and see the wicked abominations that they do here.”

And he said H559 (QalImpf) unto me, Go in, H935 (QalImpv) and behold H7200 (QalImpv) the wicked H7451 abominations H8441 that they do H6213 (QalActPtc) here.

και ειπεν προς με εισελθε και ιδε τας ανομιας ας ουτοι ποιουσιν ωδε

He said also to me, “You will again see more of the great abominations which they do.”

He said H559 (QalImpf) also unto me, Turn H7725 (QalImpf) thee yet again, [and] thou shalt see H7200 (QalImpf) greater H1419 abominations H8441 that they do. H6213 (QalActPtc)

και ειπεν προς με ετι οψει ανομιας μειζονας ας ουτοι ποιουσιν

Then he said to me, “Have you seen this, son of man? You will again see yet greater abominations than these.”

Then said H559 (QalImpf) he unto me, Hast thou seen H7200 (QalPerf) [this], O son H1121 of man? H120 turn H7725 (QalImpf) thee yet again, [and] thou shalt see H7200 (QalImpf) greater H1419 abominations H8441 than these.

και ειπεν προς με υιε ανθρωπου εωρακας και ετι οψει επιτηδευματα μειζονα τουτων

Then he said to me, “Have you seen this, son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence, and have turned again to provoke me to anger. Behold, they put the branch to their nose.

Then he said H559 (QalImpf) unto me, Hast thou seen H7200 (QalPerf) [this], O son H1121 of man? H120 Is it a light thing H7043 (NiphPerf) to the house H1004 of Judah H3063 that they commit H6213 (QalInf) the abominations H8441 which they commit H6213 (QalPerf) here? for they have filled H4390 (QalPerf) the land H776 with violence, H2555 and have returned H7725 (QalImpf) to provoke me to anger: H3707 (HiphInf) and, lo, they put H7971 (QalActPtc) the branch H2156 to their nose. και ειπεν προς με εωρακας υιε ανθρωπου μη μικρα τω οικω ιουδα του ποιειν τας ανομιας ας πεποιηκασιν ωδε διοτι επλησαν την γην ανομιας και ιδου αυτοι ως μυκτηριζοντες

Yahweh said to him, “Go through the middle of the city, through the middle of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry over all the abominations that are done within it.”

“ ‘They will come there, and they will take away all its detestable things and all its abominations from there.

και εισελευσονται εκει και εξαρουσιν παντα τα βδελυγματα αυτης και πασας τας ανομιας αυτης εξ αυτης

But as for them whose heart walks after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will bring their way on their own heads,’ says the Lord Yahweh.”

But [as for them] whose heart H3820 walketh H1980 (QalActPtc) after the heart H3820 of their detestable things H8251 and their abominations, H8441 I will recompense H5414 (QalPerf) their way H1870 upon their own heads, H7218 saith H5002 (QalPasPtc) the Lord H136 God. H3069

και εις την καρδιαν των βδελυγματων αυτων και των ανομιων αυτων ως η καρδια αυτων επορευετο τας οδους αυτων εις κεφαλας αυτων δεδωκα λεγει κυριος

But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence, that they may declare all their abominations among the nations where they come. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.’ ”

και υπολειψομαι εξ αυτων ανδρας αριθμω εκ ρομφαιας και εκ λιμου και εκ θανατου οπως εκδιηγωνται πασας τας ανομιας αυτων εν τοις εθνεσιν ου εισηλθοσαν εκει και γνωσονται οτι εγω κυριος

“Therefore tell the house of Israel, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Return, and turn yourselves from your idols! Turn away your faces from all your abominations.

τουτο παρα πασαν την πορνειαν σου και ουκ εμνησθης τας ημερας της νηπιοτητος σου οτε ησθα γυμνη και ασχημονουσα και πεφυρμενη εν τω αιματι σου εζησας

‘The Lord Yahweh says, “Because your filthiness was poured out, and your nakedness uncovered through your prostitution with your lovers; and because of all the idols of your abominations, and for the blood of your children, that you gave to them;

ταδε λεγει κυριος ανθ ων εξεχεας τον χαλκον σου και αποκαλυφθησεται η αισχυνη σου εν τη πορνεια σου προς τους εραστας σου και εις παντα τα ενθυμηματα των ανομιων σου και εν τοις αιμασιν των τεκνων σου ων εδωκας αυτοις

ανθ ων ουκ εμνησθης την ημεραν της νηπιοτητος σου και ελυπεις με εν πασι τουτοις και εγω ιδου τας οδους σου εις κεφαλην σου δεδωκα λεγει κυριος και ουτως εποιησας την ασεβειαν επι πασαις ταις ανομιαις σου

Yet you have not walked in their ways, nor done their abominations; but soon you were more corrupt than they in all your ways.

και ουδ ως εν ταις οδοις αυτων επορευθης ουδε κατα τας ανομιας αυτων εποιησας παρα μικρον και υπερκεισαι αυτας εν πασαις ταις οδοις σου

They were arrogant and committed abomination before me. Therefore I took them away when I saw it.

και εμεγαλαυχουν και εποιησαν ανομηματα ενωπιον μου και εξηρα αυτας καθως ειδον

Samaria hasn’t committed half of your sins; but you have multiplied your abominations more than they, and have justified your sisters by all your abominations which you have done.

και σαμαρεια κατα τας ημισεις των αμαρτιων σου ουχ ημαρτεν και επληθυνας τας ανομιας σου υπερ αυτας και εδικαιωσας τας αδελφας σου εν πασαις ταις ανομιαις σου αις εποιησας

You have borne your lewdness and your abominations,” says Yahweh.

και πτωχον και πενητα κατεδυναστευσεν και αρπαγμα ηρπασεν και ενεχυρασμον ουκ απεδωκεν και εις τα ειδωλα εθετο τους οφθαλμους αυτου ανομιαν πεποιηκεν

has lent with interest, and has taken increase from the poor,

μετα τοκου εδωκε και πλεονασμον ελαβεν ουτος ζωη ου ζησεται πασας τας ανομιας ταυτας εποιησεν θανατω θανατωθησεται το αιμα αυτου επ αυτον εσται

“But when the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, should he live? None of his righteous deeds that he has done will be remembered. In his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he has sinned, in them he shall die.
