He did this in the cities of Manasseh, Ephraim, and Simeon, even to Naphtali, around in their ruins.

The enemy is overtaken by endless ruin. The very memory of the cities which you have overthrown has perished.

For Yahweh has comforted Zion. He has comforted all her waste places, and has made her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of Yahweh. Joy and gladness will be found in them, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

και οικοδομηθησονται σου αι ερημοι αιωνιοι και εσται σου τα θεμελια αιωνια γενεων γενεαις και κληθηση οικοδομος φραγμων και τους τριβους τους ανα μεσον παυσεις

They will rebuild the old ruins. They will raise up the former devastated places. They will repair the ruined cities that have been devastated for many generations.

behold, I will send and take all the families of the north,” says Yahweh, “and I will send to Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against its inhabitants, and against all these nations around. I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.

Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, with its kings and its princes, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as it is today;

Thus Yahweh could no longer bear it, because of the evil of your doings and because of the abominations which you have committed. Therefore your land has become a desolation, an astonishment, and a curse, without inhabitant, as it is today.

For I have sworn by myself,” says Yahweh, “that Bozrah will become an astonishment, a reproach, a waste, and a curse. All its cities will be perpetual wastes.”

I will lay your cities waste, and you will be desolate. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.

και πληθυνω εφ υμας ανθρωπους παν οικον ισραηλ εις τελος και κατοικηθησονται αι πολεις και η ηρημωμενη οικοδομηθησεται

“ ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “In the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited and the waste places will be built.

Thus saith H559 (QalPerf) the Lord H136 God; H3069 In the day H3117 that I shall have cleansed H2891 (PielInf) you from all your iniquities H5771 I will also cause [you] to dwell H3427 (HiphPerf) in the cities, H5892 and the wastes H2723 shall be builded. H1129 (NiphPerf)

ταδε λεγει κυριος εν ημερα η καθαριω υμας εκ πασων των ανομιων υμων και κατοικιω τας πολεις και οικοδομηθησονται αι ερημοι

After many days you will be visited. In the latter years you will come into the land that is brought back from the sword, that is gathered out of many peoples, on the mountains of Israel, which have been a continual waste; but it is brought out of the peoples and they will dwell securely, all of them.

After many H7227 days H3117 thou shalt be visited: H6485 (NiphImpf) in the latter H319 years H8141 thou shalt come H935 (QalImpf) into the land H776 [that is] brought back H7725 (PulaPtc) from the sword, H2719 [and is] gathered H6908 (PualPtc) out of many H7227 people, H5971 against the mountains H2022 of Israel, H3478 which have been always H8548 waste: H2723 but it is brought forth H3318 (HophPerf) out of the nations, H5971 and they shall dwell H3427 (QalPerf) safely H983 all of them.

αφ ημερων πλειονων ετοιμασθησεται και επ εσχατου ετων ελευσεται και ηξει εις την γην την απεστραμμενην απο μαχαιρας συνηγμενων απο εθνων πολλων επι γην ισραηλ η εγενηθη ερημος δι ολου και ουτος εξ εθνων εξεληλυθεν και κατοικησουσιν επ ειρηνης απαντες

to take the plunder and to take prey; to turn your hand against the waste places that are inhabited, and against the people who are gathered out of the nations, who have gotten livestock and goods, who dwell in the middle of the earth.’

To take H7997 (QalInf) a spoil, H7998 and to take H962 (QalInf) a prey; H957 to turn H7725 (HiphInf) thine hand H3027 upon the desolate places H2723 [that are now] inhabited, H3427 (NiphPtc) and upon the people H5971 [that are] gathered H622 (PualPtc) out of the nations, H1471 which have gotten H6213 (QalActPtc) cattle H4735 and goods, H7075 that dwell H3427 (QalActPtc) in the midst H2872 of the land. προνομευσαι προνομην και σκυλευσαι σκυλα αυτων του επιστρεψαι χειρα σου εις την ηρημωμενην η κατωκισθη και επ εθνος συνηγμενον απο εθνων πολλων πεποιηκοτας κτησεις κατοικουντας επι τον ομφαλον της γης

in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years about which Yahweh’s^§ word came to Jeremiah the prophet for the accomplishing of the desolations of Jerusalem, even seventy years.

Daniel 9:2 “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “Lord” (all caps) in other translations.

εν ετει ενι της βασιλειας αυτου εγω δανιηλ συνηκα εν ταις βυβλοις τον αριθμον των ετων ος εγενηθη λογος κυριου προς ιερεμιαν τον προφητην εις συμπληρωσιν ερημωσεως ιερουσαλημ εβδομηκοντα ετη

Whereas Edom says, “We are beaten down, but we will return and build the waste places,” Yahweh of Armies says, “They shall build, but I will throw down; and men will call them ‘The Wicked Land,’ even the people against whom Yahweh shows wrath forever.”

διοτι ερει η ιδουμαια κατεστραπται και επιστρεψωμεν και ανοικοδομησωμεν τας ερημους ταδε λεγει κυριος παντοκρατωρ αυτοι οικοδομησουσιν και εγω καταστρεψω και επικληθησεται αυτοις ορια ανομιας και λαος εφ ον παρατετακται κυριος εως αιωνος
