What if there are fifty righteous within the city? Will you consume and not spare the place for the fifty righteous who are in it?

εαν ωσιν πεντηκοντα δικαιοι εν τη πολει απολεις αυτους ουκ ανησεις παντα τον τοπον ενεκεν των πεντηκοντα δικαιων εαν ωσιν εν αυτη

Yahweh said, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare the whole place for their sake.”

And the Lord H3068 said, H559 (QalImpf) If I find H4672 (QalImpf) in Sodom H5467 fifty H2572 righteous H6662 within H8432 the city, H5892 then I will spare H5375 (QalPerf) all the place H4725 for their sakes.

ειπεν δε κυριος εαν ευρω εν σοδομοις πεντηκοντα δικαιους εν τη πολει αφησω παντα τον τοπον δι αυτους

Yahweh went his way as soon as he had finished communing with Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.

And the Lord H3068 went his way, H3212 (QalImpf) as soon as H834 he had left H3615 (PielPerf) communing H1696 (PielInf) with Abraham: H85 and Abraham H85 returned H7725 (QalPerf) unto his place. H4725

οτι απολλυμεν ημεις τον τοπον τουτον οτι υψωθη η κραυγη αυτων εναντιον κυριου και απεστειλεν ημας κυριος εκτριψαι αυτην

Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were pledged to marry his daughters, and said, “Get up! Get out of this place, for Yahweh will destroy the city!” But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be joking.

εξηλθεν δε λωτ και ελαλησεν προς τους γαμβρους αυτου τους ειληφοτας τας θυγατερας αυτου και ειπεν αναστητε και εξελθατε εκ του τοπου τουτου οτι εκτριβει κυριος την πολιν εδοξεν δε γελοιαζειν εναντιον των γαμβρων αυτου

Abraham went up early in the morning to the place where he had stood before Yahweh.

Abraham called the name of that place “Yahweh Will Provide”.^§ As it is said to this day, “On Yahweh’s mountain, it will be provided.”

Genesis 22:14 That is, The Lord will see, or, provide

He was afraid, and said, “How awesome this place is! This is none other than God’s house, and this is the gate of heaven.”

He called the name of that place Bethel, but the name of the city was Luz at the first.

Genesis 28:19 That is, the house of God

Genesis 32:2 “Mahanaim” means “two camps”.

Genesis 32:2 That is, Two hosts or camps

Jacob called the name of the place Peniel;° for he said, “I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

Genesis 32:30 Peniel means “face of God”.

And Jacob H3290 called H7121 (QalImpf) the name H8034 of the place H4725 Peniel:° H6439 for I have seen H7200 (QalPerf) God H430 face H6440 to face, H6440 and my life H5315 is preserved. H5337 (NiphImpf)

Genesis 32:30 That is, The face of God

Jacob traveled to Succoth, built himself a house, and made shelters for his livestock. Therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.°
