[1] In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years. Then he turned and rebelled against him. [2] Yahweh sent against him bands of the Chaldeans, bands of the Syrians, bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to Yahweh’s word which he spoke by his servants the prophets. [3] Surely at the commandment of Yahweh this came on Judah, to remove them out of his sight for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did, [4] and also for the innocent blood that he shed; for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and Yahweh would not pardon. [5] Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? [6] So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers, and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place. [7] The king of Egypt didn’t come out of his land any more; for the king of Babylon had taken, from the brook of Egypt to the river Euphrates, all that belonged to the king of Egypt. [8] Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. His mother’s name was Nehushta the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem. [9] He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, according to all that his father had done. [10] At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up to Jerusalem, and the city was besieged. [11] Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to the city while his servants were besieging it, [12] and Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon—he, his mother, his servants, his princes, and his officers; and the king of Babylon captured him in the eighth year of his reign. [13] He carried out from there all the treasures of Yahweh’s house and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in Yahweh’s temple, as Yahweh had said. [14] He carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valor, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and the smiths. No one remained except the poorest people of the land. [15] He carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, with the king’s mother, the king’s wives, his officers, and the chief men of the land. He carried them into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon. [16] All the men of might, even seven thousand, and the craftsmen and the smiths one thousand, all of them strong and fit for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon. [17] The king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin’s father’s brother, king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah. [18] Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. [19] He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, according to all that Jehoiakim had done. [20] For through the anger of Yahweh, this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence. Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

[1] In his daysH3117 NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 came up,H5927(QalPerf) and JehoiakimH3079 became his servantH5650 threeH7969 years:H8141 then he turnedH7725(QalImpf) and rebelledH4775(QalImpf) against him. [2] And the LordH3068 sentH7971(PielImpf) against him bandsH1416 of the Chaldees,H3778 and bandsH1416 of the Syrians,H758 and bandsH1416 of the Moabites,H4124 and bandsH1416 of the childrenH1121 of Ammon,H5983 and sentH7971(PielImpf) them against JudahH3063 to destroyH6(HiphInf) it, according to the wordH1697 of the Lord,H3068 which he spakeH1696(PielPerf) byH3027 his servantsH5650 the prophets.H5030 [3] Surely at the commandmentH6310 of the LordH3068 came [this] upon Judah,H3063 to removeH5493(HiphInf) [them] out of his sight,H6440 for the sinsH2403 of Manasseh,H4519 according to all that he did;H6213(QalPerf) [4] And also for the innocentH5355 bloodH1818 that he shed:H8210(QalPerf) for he filledH4390(PielImpf) JerusalemH3389 with innocentH5355 blood;H1818 which the LordH3068 wouldH14(QalPerf) not pardon.H5545(QalInf) [5] Now the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of Jehoiakim,H3079 and all that he did,H6213(QalPerf) [are] they not writtenH3789(QalPasPtc) in the bookH5612 of the chroniclesH1697 of the kingsH4428 of Judah?H3063 [6] So JehoiakimH3079 sleptH7901(QalImpf) with his fathers:H1 and JehoiachinH3078 his sonH1121 reignedH4427(QalImpf) in his stead. [7] And the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 cameH3318(QalInf) not againH3254(HiphPerf) any more out of his land:H776 for the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 had takenH3947(QalPerf) from the riverH5158 of EgyptH4714 unto the riverH5104 EuphratesH6578 all that pertained to the kingH4428 of Egypt.H4714 [8] JehoiachinH3078 [was] eighteenH8083 yearsH8141 oldH1121 when he began to reign,H4427(QalInf) and he reignedH4427(QalPerf) in JerusalemH3389 threeH7969 months.H2320 And his mother’sH517 nameH8034 [was] Nehushta,H5179 the daughterH1323 of ElnathanH494 of Jerusalem.H3389 [9] And he didH6213(QalImpf) [that which was] evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the Lord,H3068 according to all that his fatherH1 had done.H6213(QalPerf) [10] At that timeH6256 the servantsH5650 of NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 came upH5927(QalPerf) against Jerusalem,H3389 and the cityH5892 was besieged.H935(QalImpf) [11] And NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 cameH935(QalImpf) against the city,H5892 and his servantsH5650 did besiegeH6696(QalActPtc) it. [12] And JehoiachinH3078 the kingH4428 of JudahH3063 went outH3318(QalImpf) to the kingH4428 of Babylon,H894 he, and his mother,H517 and his servants,H5650 and his princes,H8269 and his officers:H5631 and the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 tookH3947(QalImpf) him in the eighthH8083 yearH8141 of his reign.H4427(QalInf) [13] And he carried outH3318(HiphImpf) thence all the treasuresH214 of the houseH1004 of the Lord,H3068 and the treasuresH214 of the king’sH4428 house,H1004 and cut in piecesH7112(PielImpf) all the vesselsH3627 of goldH2091 which SolomonH8010 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 had madeH6213(QalPerf) in the templeH1964 of the Lord,H3068 as the LordH3068 had said.H1696(PielPerf) [14] And he carried awayH1540(HiphPerf) all Jerusalem,H3389 and all the princes,H8269 and all the mighty menH1368 of valour,H2428 [even] tenH6235 thousandH505 captives,H1540(QalActPtc) and all the craftsmenH2796 and smiths:H4525 none remained,H7604(NiphPerf) saveH2108 the poorest sortH1803 of the peopleH5971 of the land.H776 [15] And he carried awayH1540(HiphImpf) JehoiachinH3078 to Babylon,H894 and the king’sH4428 mother,H517 and the king’sH4428 wives,H802 and his officers,H5631 and the mightyH352(Qere) of the land,H776 [those] carriedH3212(HiphPerf) he into captivityH1473 from JerusalemH3389 to Babylon.H894 [16] And all the menH582 of might,H2428 [even] sevenH7651 thousand,H505 and craftsmenH2796 and smithsH4525 a thousand,H505 all [that were] strongH1368 [and] aptH6213(QalActPtc) for war,H4421 even them the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 broughtH935(HiphImpf) captiveH1473 to Babylon.H894 [17] And the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 made MattaniahH4983 his father’s brotherH1730 kingH4427(HiphImpf) in his stead, and changedH5437(HiphImpf) his nameH8034 to Zedekiah.H6667 [18] ZedekiahH6667 [was] twentyH6242 and oneH259 yearsH8141 oldH1121 when he began to reign,H4427(QalInf) and he reignedH4427(QalPerf) elevenH259 yearsH8141 in Jerusalem.H3389 And his mother’sH517 nameH8034 [was] Hamutal,H2537 the daughterH1323 of JeremiahH3414 of Libnah.H3841 [19] And he didH6213(QalImpf) [that which was] evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the Lord,H3068 according to all that JehoiakimH3079 had done.H6213(QalPerf) [20] For through the angerH639 of the LordH3068 it came to pass in JerusalemH3389 and Judah,H3063 until he had cast them outH7993(HiphPerf) from his presence,H6440 that ZedekiahH6667 rebelledH4775(QalImpf) against the kingH4428 of Babylon.H894
