A messenger came and told him, “They have brought the heads of the king’s sons.” He said, “Lay them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until the morning.”

and the messenger cometh in, and declareth to him, saying, ‘They have brought in the heads of the sons of the king,’ and he saith, ‘Make them two heaps at the opening of the gate till the morning.’

He brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba; and he broke down the high places of the gates that were at the entrance of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man’s left hand at the gate of the city.

And he bringeth in all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defileth the high places where the priests have made perfume, from Geba unto Beer-Sheba, and hath broken down the high places of the gates that are at the opening of the gate of Joshua, head of the city, that is on a man’s left hand at the gate of the city;

Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper of the door of the Tent of Meeting.

[And] Zechariah H2148 the son H1121 of Meshelemiah H4920 [was] porter H7778 of the door H6607 of the tabernacle H168 of the congregation. H4150

Zechariah son of Meshelemiah is gatekeeper at the opening of the tent of meeting.

The children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the gate of the city; and the kings who had come were by themselves in the field.

and the sons of Ammon come out and set battle in array at the opening of the city, and the kings who have come are by themselves in the field.

and the snuffers, the basins, the spoons, and the fire pans of pure gold. As for the entry of the house, its inner doors for the most holy place and the doors of the main hall of the temple were of gold.

and the snuffers, and the bowls, and the spoons, and the censers, of gold refined, and the opening of the house, its innermost doors to the holy of holies, and the doors of the house to the temple, of gold.

King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house.

Now on the third day, Esther put on her royal clothing and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, next to the king’s house. The king sat on his royal throne in the royal house, next to the entrance of the house.

And it cometh to pass on the third day, that Esther putteth on royalty, and standeth in the inner-court of the house of the king over-against the house of the king, and the king is sitting on his royal throne, in the royal-house, over-against the opening of the house,

“If my heart has been enticed to a woman, and I have laid wait at my neighbor’s door,

If my heart hath been enticed by woman, And by the opening of my neighbour I laid wait,

Because I fear a great multitude, And the contempt of families doth affright me, Then I am silent, I go not out of the opening.

Lift up your heads, you gates! Be lifted up, you everlasting doors, and the King of glory will come in.

Lift up, O gates, your heads, And be lifted up, O doors age-during, And come in doth the king of glory!

Lift up your heads, you gates; yes, lift them up, you everlasting doors, and the King of glory will come in.

Lift up H5375 (QalImpv) your heads, H7218 O ye gates; H8179 even lift [them] up, H5375 (QalImpv) ye everlasting H5769 doors; H6607 and the King H4428 of glory H3519 shall come in. H935 (QalImpf)

Lift up, O gates, your heads, And be lifted up, O doors age-during, And come in doth the king of glory!

She calls at the head of noisy places. At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words:

She crieth H7121 (QalImpf) in the chief place H7218 of concourse, H1993 (QalActPtc) in the openings H6607 of the gates: H8179 in the city H5892 she uttereth H559 (QalImpf) her words, H561 [saying],

At the head of the multitudes she calleth, In the openings of the gates, In the city her sayings she saith:

Remove your way far from her. Don’t come near the door of her house,

Remove H7368 thy way H1870 far H7368 (HiphImpv) from her, and come not nigh H7126 (QalImpf) the door H6607 of her house: H1004

Keep far from off her thy way, And come not near unto the opening of her house,

Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, at the entry doors, she cries aloud:

At the side of the gates, at the mouth of the city, The entrance of the openings, she crieth aloud,

Blessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my door posts.

O the happiness of the man hearkening to me, To watch at my doors day by day, To watch at the door-posts of my entrance.

She sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

For she sitteth H3427 (QalPerf) at the door H6607 of her house, H1004 on a seat H3678 in the high places H4791 of the city, H7176

And she hath sat at the opening of her house, On a throne-the high places of the city,

He who loves disobedience loves strife. One who builds a high gate seeks destruction.

He loveth H157 (QalActPtc) transgression H6588 that loveth H157 (QalActPtc) strife: H4683 [and] he that exalteth H1361 (HiphPtc) his gate H6607 seeketh H1245 (PielPtc) destruction. H7667

Whoso is loving transgression is loving debate, Whoso is making high his entrance is seeking destruction.

The mandrakes produce fragrance. At our doors are all kinds of precious fruits, new and old, which I have stored up for you, my beloved.

The mandrakes H1736 give H5414 (QalPerf) a smell, H7381 and at our gates H6607 [are] all manner of pleasant H4022 [fruits], new H2319 and old, H3465 [which] I have laid up H6845 (QalPerf) for thee, O my beloved. H1730

The mandrakes have given fragrance, And at our openings all pleasant things, New, yea, old, my beloved, I laid up for thee!

Her gates shall lament and mourn. She shall be desolate and sit on the ground.

And her gates H6607 shall lament H578 (QalPerf) and mourn; H56 (QalPerf) and she [being] desolate H5352 (NiphPerf) shall sit H3427 (QalImpf) upon the ground. H776

And lamented and mourned have her openings, Yea, she hath been emptied, on the earth she sitteth!

Set up a banner on the bare mountain! Lift up your voice to them! Wave your hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.

‘On a high mountain lift ye up an ensign, Raise the voice to them, wave the hand, And they go in to the openings of nobles.

For behold, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north,” says Yahweh. “They will come, and they will each set his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all its walls all around, and against all the cities of Judah.

For, lo, I am calling for all families of the kingdoms of the north,-an affirmation of Jehovah-and they have come, and put each his throne at the opening of the gates of Jerusalem, and by its walls round about, and by all cities of Judah.

and go out to the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the gate Harsith, and proclaim there the words that I will tell you.

When the princes of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king’s house to Yahweh’s house; and they sat in the entry of the new gate of Yahweh’s house.

And the heads of Judah hear these things, and they go up from the house of the king to the house of Jehovah, and sit in the opening of the new gate of Jehovah.

Then Baruch read the words of Jeremiah from the book in Yahweh’s house, in the room of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the new gate of Yahweh’s house, in the ears of all the people.

and Baruch readeth in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of Jehovah, in the chamber of Gemariah son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher court, at the opening of the new gate of the house of Jehovah, in the ears of all the people.

“Take great stones in your hand and hide them in mortar in the brick work which is at the entry of Pharaoh’s house in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah.

He stretched out the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and the sky, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the gate of the inner court that looks toward the north, where there was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provokes to jealousy.

And He putteth forth a form of a hand, and taketh me by a lock of my head, and lift me up doth a spirit between the earth and the heavens, and it bringeth me in to Jerusalem in visions of God, unto the opening of the inner gate that is facing the north, where is the seat of the figure of jealousy that is making jealous,

He brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold, a hole in the wall.

And He bringeth me in unto an opening of the court, and I look, and lo, a hole in the wall;

Then he brought me to the door of the gate of Yahweh’s house which was toward the north; and I saw the women sit there weeping for Tammuz.

The cherubim lifted up their wings and mounted up from the earth in my sight when they went out, with the wheels beside them. Then they stood at the door of the east gate of Yahweh’s house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.

and the cherubs lift up their wings, and are lifted up from the earth before mine eyes; in their going forth, the wheels also are over-against them, and he standeth at the opening of the east gate of the house of Jehovah, and the honour of the God of Israel is over them from above.

Moreover the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of Yahweh’s house, which looks eastward. Behold, twenty-five men were at the door of the gate; and I saw among them Jaazaniah the son of Azzur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.

And lift me up doth a spirit, and it bringeth me in unto the east gate of the house of Jehovah, that is facing the east, and lo, at the opening of the gate twenty and five men, and I see in their midst Jaazaniah son of Azzur, and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, heads of the people.

“As for you, son of man, the children of your people talk about you by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak to one another, everyone to his brother, saying, ‘Please come and hear what the word is that comes out from Yahweh.’

And thou, son of man, the sons of thy people who are speaking about thee, By the walls, and in openings of the houses, Have spoken one with another, each with his brother, Saying: Come in, I pray you, And hear what is the word that cometh out from Jehovah.

He measured the width of the opening of the gate, ten cubits; and the length of the gate, thirteen cubits;

And he measured H4058 (QalImpf) the breadth H7341 of the entry H6607 of the gate, H8179 ten H6235 cubits; H520 [and] the length H753 of the gate, H8179 thirteen H7969 H6240 cubits. H520

And he measureth the breadth of the opening of the gate ten cubits, the length of the gate thirteen cubits;

He measured the gate from the roof of the one side room to the roof of the other, a width of twenty-five cubits, door against door.

And he measureth the gate from the roof of the one little chamber to the roof of another; the breadth twenty and five cubits, opening over-against opening.

A room with its door was by the posts at the gates. They washed the burnt offering there.

And the chambers H3957 and the entries H6607 thereof [were] by the posts H352 of the gates, H8179 where they washed H1740 (HiphImpf) the burnt offering. H5930

And the chamber and its opening is by the posts of the gates, there they purge the burnt-offering.

On the one side outside, as one goes up to the entry of the gate toward the north, were two tables; and on the other side, which belonged to the porch of the gate, were two tables.

And at the side H3802 without, H2351 as one goeth up H5927 (QalActPtc) to the entry H6607 of the north H6828 gate, H8179 [were] two H8147 tables; H7979 and on the other H312 side, H3802 which [was] at the porch H197 of the gate, H8179 [were] two H8147 tables. H7979

and at the side without, at the going up to the opening of the north gate, are two tables; and at the other side that is at the porch of the gate, are two tables;

The width of the entrance was ten cubits,° and the sides of the entrance were five cubits on the one side, and five cubits on the other side. He measured its length, forty cubits, and the width, twenty cubits.

Ezekiel 41:2 A cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimeters.

And the breadth H7341 of the door H6607 [was] ten H6235 cubits; H520 and the sides H3802 of the door H6607 [were] five H2568 cubits H520 on the one side, and five H2568 cubits H520 on the other side: and he measured H4058 (QalImpf) the length H753 thereof, forty H705 cubits: H520 and the breadth, H7341 twenty H6242 cubits. And the breadth of the opening is ten cubits; and the sides of the opening are five cubits on this side, and five cubits on that side; and he measureth its length forty cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.

Then he went inward and measured each post of the entrance, two cubits; and the entrance, six cubits; and the width of the entrance, seven cubits.

And he hath gone inward, and measureth the post of the opening two cubits, and the opening six cubits, and the breadth of the opening seven cubits.

The doors of the side rooms were toward an open area that was left, one door toward the north, and another door toward the south. The width of the open area was five cubits all around.

And the doors H6607 of the side chambers H6763 [were] toward [the place that was] left, H3240 (HophPtc) one H259 door H6607 toward H1870 the north, H6828 and another H259 door H6607 toward the south: H1864 and the breadth H7341 of the place H4725 that was left H3240 (HophPtc) [was] five H2568 cubits H520 round about. And the opening of the side-chamber is to the place left, one opening northward, and one opening southward, and the breadth of the place that is left is five cubits all round about.

to the space above the door, even to the inner house, and outside, and by all the wall all around inside and outside, by measure.

To that above the door, H6607 even unto the inner H6442 house, H1004 and without, H2351 and by all the wall H7023 round about H5439 within H6442 and without, H2435 by measure. H4060

over above the opening, and unto the inner-house, and at the outside, and by all the wall all round about within and without by measure.

Cherubim and palm trees were made from the ground to above the door. The wall of the temple was like this.

From the ground H776 unto above the door H6607 [were] cherubims H3742 and palm trees H8561 made, H6213 (QalPasPtc) and [on] the wall H7023 of the temple. H1964

from the earth unto above the opening are the cherubs and the palm-trees made, and on the wall of the temple.

Facing the length of one hundred cubits° was the north door, and the width was fifty cubits.

Ezekiel 42:2 A cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimeters.

Before H6440 the length H753 of an hundred H3967 cubits H520 [was] the north H6828 door, H6607 and the breadth H7341 [was] fifty H2572 cubits. H520

At the front of the length is a hundred cubits at the north opening, and the breadth fifty cubits.

Before the rooms was a walk of ten cubits’ width inward, a way of one cubit; and their doors were toward the north.

And before H6440 the chambers H3957 [was] a walk H4109 of ten H6235 cubits H520 breadth H7341 inward, H6442 a way H1870 of one H259 cubit; H520 and their doors H6607 toward the north. H6828

And at the front of the chambers is a walk of ten cubits in breadth unto the inner part, a way of one cubit, and their openings are at the north.

The way before them was like the appearance of the rooms which were toward the north. Their length and width were the same. All their exits had the same arrangement and doors.

And the way H1870 before H6440 them [was] like the appearance H4758 of the chambers H3957 which [were] toward H1870 the north, H6828 as long as H753 they, [and] as broad as H3651 H7341 they: and all their goings out H4161 [were] both according to their fashions, H4941 and according to their doors. H6607

And the way before them is as the appearance of the chambers that are northward, according to their length so is their breadth, and all their outlets, and according to their fashions, and according to their openings.

Like the doors of the rooms that were toward the south was a door at the head of the way, even the way directly before the wall toward the east, as one enters into them.

And according to the doors H6607 of the chambers H3957 that [were] toward H1870 the south H1864 [was] a door H6607 in the head H7218 of the way, H1870 [even] the way H1870 directly H1903 before H6440 the wall H1448 toward H1870 the east, H6921 as one entereth H935 (QalInf) into them.

And according to the openings of the chambers that are southward is an opening at the head of the way, the way directly in the front of the wall eastward in entering them.

The people of the land shall worship at the door of that gate before Yahweh on the Sabbaths and on the new moons.

Likewise the people H5971 of the land H776 shall worship H7812 (HithPerf) at the door H6607 of this gate H8179 before H6440 the Lord H3068 in the sabbaths H7676 and in the new moons. H2320

And bowed themselves have the people of the land at the opening of that gate, on sabbaths, and on new moons, before Jehovah.
