[1] Then Job answered,
[2] “How long will you torment me,
and crush me with words?
[3] You have reproached me ten times.
You aren’t ashamed that you attack me.
[4] If it is true that I have erred,
my error remains with myself.
[5] If indeed you will magnify yourselves against me,
and plead against me my reproach,
[6] know now that God has subverted me,
and has surrounded me with his net. [7] “Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard.
I cry for help, but there is no justice.
[8] He has walled up my way so that I can’t pass,
and has set darkness in my paths.
[9] He has stripped me of my glory,
and taken the crown from my head.
[10] He has broken me down on every side, and I am gone.
He has plucked my hope up like a tree.
[11] He has also kindled his wrath against me.
He counts me among his adversaries.
[12] His troops come on together,
build a siege ramp against me,
and encamp around my tent. [13] “He has put my brothers far from me.
My acquaintances are wholly estranged from me.
[14] My relatives have gone away.
My familiar friends have forgotten me.
[15] Those who dwell in my house and my maids consider me a stranger.
I am an alien in their sight.
[16] I call to my servant, and he gives me no answer.
I beg him with my mouth.
[17] My breath is offensive to my wife.
I am loathsome to the children of my own mother.
[18] Even young children despise me.
If I arise, they speak against me.
[19] All my familiar friends abhor me.
They whom I loved have turned against me.
[20] My bones stick to my skin and to my flesh.
I have escaped by the skin of my teeth. [21] “Have pity on me. Have pity on me, you my friends,
for the hand of God has touched me.
[22] Why do you persecute me as God,
and are not satisfied with my flesh? [23] “Oh that my words were now written!
Oh that they were inscribed in a book!
[24] That with an iron pen and lead
they were engraved in the rock forever!
[25] But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives.
In the end, he will stand upon the earth.
[26] After my skin is destroyed,
then I will see God in my flesh,
[27] whom I, even I, will see on my side.
My eyes will see, and not as a stranger.“My heart is consumed within me.
[28] If you say, ‘How we will persecute him!’
because the root of the matter is found in me,
[29] be afraid of the sword,
for wrath brings the punishments of the sword,
that you may know there is a judgment.”

King James Version
Job’s Reply
[1] Then Job H347 answered H6030 (QalImpf) and said, H559 (QalImpf)[2] How long will ye vex H3013 (HiphImpf) my soul, H5315
And break H1792 (PielImpf) me in pieces with words? H4405
[3] These ten H6235 times H6471 have ye reproached H3637 (HiphImpf) me:
Ye are not ashamed H954 (QalImpf) that ye make yourselves strange H1970 (HiphImpf) to me.§
[4] And be it indeed H551 that I have erred, H7686 (QalPerf)
Mine error H4879 remaineth H3885 (QalImpf) with myself.
[5] If indeed H551 ye will magnify H1431 (HiphImpf) yourselves against me,
And plead H3198 (HiphImpf) against me my reproach: H2781
[6] Know H3045 (QalImpv) now H645 that God H433 hath overthrown H5791 (PielPerf) me,
And hath compassed H5362 (HiphPerf) me with his net. H4686
[7] Behold, I cry out H6817 (QalImpf) of wrong, H2555§ but I am not heard: H6030 (NiphImpf)
I cry aloud, H7768 (PielImpf) but there is no judgment. H4941
[8] He hath fenced up H1443 (QalPerf) my way H734 that I cannot pass, H5674 (QalImpf)
And he hath set H7760 (QalImpf) darkness H2822 in my paths. H5410
[9] He hath stripped H6584 (HiphPerf) me of my glory, H3519
And taken H5493 (HiphImpf) the crown H5850 from my head. H7218
[10] He hath destroyed H5422 (QalImpf) me on every side, H5439 and I am gone: H3212 (QalImpf)
And mine hope H8615 hath he removed H5265 (HiphImpf) like a tree. H6086
[11] He hath also kindled H2734 (HiphImpf) his wrath H639 against me,
And he counteth H2803 (QalImpf) me unto him as one of his enemies. H6862
[12] His troops H1416 come H935 (QalImpf) together, H3162
And raise up H5549 (QalImpf) their way H1870 against me,
And encamp H2583 (QalImpf) round about H5439 my tabernacle. H168
[13] He hath put H7368 my brethren H251 far H7368 (HiphPerf) from me,
And mine acquaintance H3045 (QalActPtc) are verily estranged H2114 (QalPerf) from me.
[14] My kinsfolk H7138 have failed, H2308 (QalPerf) and my familiar friends H3045 (PualPtc) have forgotten H7911 (QalPerf) me.
[15] They that dwell H1481 (QalActPtc) in mine house, H1004
And my maids, H519 count H2803 (QalImpf) me for a stranger: H2114 (QalPtc)
I am an alien H5237 in their sight. H5869
[16] I called H7121 (QalPerf) my servant, H5650 and he gave me no answer; H6030 (QalImpf)
I intreated H2603 (HithImpf) him with H1119 my mouth. H6310
[17] My breath H7307 is strange H2114 (QalPerf) to my wife, H802
Though I intreated H2589 (QalInf) for the children’s H1121 sake of mine own body.§ H990
[18] Yea, young children H5759§ despised H3988 (QalPerf) me;
I arose, H6965 (QalImpf) and they spake H1696 (PielImpf) against me.
[19] All my inward H5475 friends H4962§ abhorred H8581 (PielPerf) me:
And they whom I loved H157 (QalPerf) are turned H2015 (NiphPerf) against me.
[20] My bone H6106 cleaveth H1692 (QalPerf) to my skin H5785 and to§ my flesh, H1320
And I am escaped H4422 (HithImpf) with the skin H5785 of my teeth. H8127
[21] Have pity H2603 (QalImpv) upon me, have pity H2603 (QalImpv) upon me, O ye my friends; H7453
For the hand H3027 of God H433 hath touched H5060 (QalPerf) me.
[22] Why do ye persecute H7291 (QalImpf) me as God, H410
And are not satisfied H7646 (QalImpf) with my flesh? H1320
[23] Oh that H5414 (QalImpf) my words H4405 were now H645 written! H3789 (NiphImpf)§
Oh that H5414 (QalImpf) they were printed H2710 (HophImpf) in a book! H5612
[24] That they were graven H2672 (NiphImpf) with an iron H1270 pen H5842 and lead H5777
In the rock H6697 for ever! H5703
[25] For I know H3045 (QalPerf) that my redeemer H1350 (QalActPtc) liveth, H2416
And that he shall stand H6965 (QalImpf) at the latter H314 day upon the earth: H6083
[26] And though after H310 my skin H5785 worms destroy H5362 (PielPerf) this body,
Yet in my flesh H1320 shall I see H2372 (QalImpf) God: H433§
[27] Whom I shall see H2372 (QalImpf) for myself,
And mine eyes H5869 shall behold, H7200 (QalPerf) and not another; H2114 (QalPtc)§
Though my reins H3629 be consumed H3615 (QalPerf) within H2436 me.§
[28] But ye should say, H559 (QalImpf) Why persecute H7291 (QalImpf) we him,
Seeing the root H8328 of the matter H1697 is found H4672 (NiphPerf) in me?§
[29] Be ye afraid H1481 (QalImpv) of the sword: H2719
For wrath H2534 bringeth the punishments H5771 of H6440 the sword, H2719
That ye may know H3045 (QalImpf) there is a judgment. H1779 (Qere)
